VISTA - battery gauge in task bar still flaky??

Hi,
I recently updated the Power Manager software on my T61 to the latest version and found that the battery gauge display is still white and unreadable when using Vista+Aero (transparency on/off doesn't matter).
The gauge displays correcly when at least one window on the desktop is full screen (because that changes the taskbar colors), otherwise it's white and the text can only be hardly read.
It's certainly a minor issue, but I wonder why it hasn't been worked out in all those updates.

Hello,
the only solution seems to roll back power manager to previous version or disable aero function.
The original version of your power manager is stored at c:\SWTools.
Edit:
@Bill I changed my ontological assertion into a more phanomenology one.

  • White battery and WiFi task bar icons

I have a new W520-4276 with Win7 Pro 64-bit SP1, BIOS 1.06. After I removed Norton Internet Security, the little battery and WiFi icons in the Task Bar system tray are white. Hovering the mouse cursor over them shows proper data, e.g, 100% charge. The larger Lenovo battery icon to their left is green, so it behaves normally.
I think this happened after I removed Norton Internet Security. Has anyone seen this? Any comments or suggestions?
It's a small thing but the icons should actively reflect the underlying data, not be white.

The OP references a larger green Lenovo icon to the left, so I am assuming he is referring to the Windows icons.
In Windows 7, these icons are white unless there is a problem.  Boring, but true.  They are "animated", though, in that the wireless icon will show signal strength (bars) and the power icon will show a different icon for battery versus AC.
I don't know of a way to change the colors.  Never wondered until now.

  • T41 battery meter in task bar wanted

The one that shows the % battery left.
I don't have it, but want it. Any help in getting it is appreciated.

I suppose that this is what you're looking for:

Make sure that you unpack it from the appropriate directory after downloading it, it should be something like C>Drivers>Win>Power manager (or something like that, I'm certain you'll recognize it).
    Hope this helps.

  • T410 (2522) - No battery symbol within the task bar

    Hello together,
around 4 weeks ago i have bought a new T410 laptop. Everything works fine, but i have so problems with the battery symbol (big one) within the task bar. Within the lenove power manager the option to display the symbol is selected. Sometimes it is visible, sometimes not.
Power Manager and Management driver are updated to the latest version (3.62 & 1.62). OS is a Windows 7 64 bit professional.
    Any ideas?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • How do you uninstall the wireless service and lenovo battery indicator from the task bar.

Was wondering if there is a way to remove them from the taskbar. Initially I had just the battery indicator and then I downloaded all the lenovo updates (for bios, etc.) and got the wireless service indicator too. They seem kind of redundant to me, as windows 7 already has their own on the task bar and they're just taking up additional space.
I'd atleast like to get rid of the wireless service.
Will this effect anything? Are they that important?

Right click on the Lenovo battery gauge in the taskbar, click "Launch Power Manager", click Options, clear "Show Power Manager Gauge in taskbar" check box.  If Options tab is not available, switch to Advanced mode (upper right corner of Power Manager).
Don't recall specifics for Lenovo network icon, but is probably just as simple.  Would be better (IMHO) to get rid of Access Connections altogether.
Removing the icons will have no affect on anything, except your piece of mind from removing these ugly and redundant symbols of bloatware.  They are NOT important.

  • When I click on the - fire fox disappears from the task bar; it is still open but gone from the task bar, if I click on any icon it opens a new Firefox window, I end up with several windows open but none on the task bar.

    Question
When I click on the - to minimize fire fox, it does not close the window but the firefox icon disappears from the task bar; it is still open but gone from the task bar, if I click on any other icon it opens a new Firefox window, I end up with several windows open but none on the task bar.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • I can no longer place links to websites in the FF icon on my Windows 7 task bar, as I could with Firefox 4. Is it still possible? task bar since upgrading to Firefox 4. Can it be made possible?

With FF v.3 I could place links to oft-used websites in the right-click expanded Firefox icon on the task bar. It appears that Firefox v. 4 no longer provides for that feature. Can it be done some other way? Otherwise I have to open my FF homepage and click on a toolbar bookmark for the website.

    >> Did you check what happens if you set the Task bar to be always visible?
No, because I do not want my Task bar to always be visible. I want it to auto-hide.
Firefox *is* maximized when this occurs. However, "maximized" window does not mean "cover up task bar", which is what FF is doing. I can maximize any of my other applications and still access the task bar as expected. For those applications, I did not have to hunt for special configuration files or anything else, because they are following what appears to be at the very least a UX best practice for Windows 7.
I definitely appreciate your taking the time to share the information that you have shared, and I have no doubt that your suggestions work as you have outlined. However, I'm seeking a user experience with FF in which I do not have to treat it differently than other applications in order to view my Windows task bar when its window is maximized. And I can view the taskbar with FF maximized, *sometimes*. Other times, it stops appearing indefinitely, across multiple sessions/shutdowns/etc.
(FYI, right now, I have FF maximized, and am able to view the Task bar, so I'm not currently experiencing this issue. I do not recall doing anything special to make it work.)
Again, I appreciate your taking the time to answer, even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear. :)

  • My computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings and even went to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple

my computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings, all of their diagnostics, and they even sent it to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple, especially iPhoto which is seems to refuse to load and then begins freezing up all over again. Anyone else have this problem. Other than this, I have had absolutely no problems with this computer. Now, it's a file of junk.

    Hi Ronald ...
Have you checked lately to see how much free space there is on the disk? Especially since iPhoto freezes at launch ...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
And make sure the OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click:   Software Update
If you have anti virus software installed or are using third party Mac cleaning utiliites, that may be part and parcel of the your problems.

  • My first gen ipad wont rotate. The side button is on mute, the lock switch is on mute, the task bar at the bottom is not locked and i reset the all setting. still wont rotate.

My first generation Ipad wont rotate. I checked the switch next to the volume, In General "use slideswitch" is on "mute" and the task bar at the bottom the lock "orientation" symbol in not engaged. i have also reset all setting. still wont roate. also games that require movement of the ipad dont work. Any thoughts anyone?

Well then the screen definitely isn't locked.
i wonder of you close all pas in the task bar if that would help. Maybe you have an app that is causing the screen to stay locked. Try that and as if that does any good.
Double tap the home buttons and hold down on any icon until they all wiggle. Then start closing them all by tapping the minus signs. Tap the home button when you are done. Restart the iPad and then try again.

  • Satellite A - Battery/Power Indicator Missing from Task Bar

My battery/power indicator is missing from the task bar. When I attempt to turn it on, it's grayed out and I don't have the option to select it. I've checked the hidden icons functions, etc. When I searched on google, there were several fixes - but all are way out of my area of expertise.
    Please help!

    Hi
Maybe you have installed an software which affected this Windows option.
It could be also a damage registry entry
Maybe you could clean the OS using CCleaner and repair the registry
Im not quite sure if it will help you but its worth a try

  • Satellite P10-804: How to enable the battery icon visible on the task bar?

how do I do enable the battery icon visible on the task bar? currently I can only have the type of power save mode e.g. bulb & colour.
I have tried to activate right clicking taskbar/properties/notification areas, found required icon & instructed to always show, however the batery icon remains hidden.
    Help??

One question: Did you try to set several settings in the Windows own power options?
However, I would say some registry keys are corrupt and therefore the battery icon cannot be displayed in the task manager.
Probably only the new installation can help you displaying the icon in the task bar.

  • After Firefox has been on for awhile, the Firefox tabs on the task bar disappear even though the pages are still running. I have to use Ctrl+Tab to fix it

I have started using Firefox recently. My computer is running XP. I notice that whether I have one Firefox window or multiple windows open, after awhile the Firefox tabs on the bottom task bar just disappear.
In order to get them back I have to use Ctrl+Tab to select each window one at a time and then they re-appear again on the task bar. Then after awhile they will disappear again.

  • I lost my Start button and my Task Bar

I have been dealing with a serious virus for a couple weeks now that makes my computer run extremely slow. I ran several free antivirus and antimalware programs trying to fix my problem. This resulted in getting an error msg on start up that states "Windows
Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. After Explorer closes I have no desktop. Its a black and blank screen. I can still get to Explorer
by using ctrl-alt-del however I no longer have a Start button or a Task Bar on my Explorer home page.
I have tried several online suggestions on retrieving the Stop button with no success. I'm sure the blank screen at start-up is a result of the virus but I have no clue on getting rid of the virus at this point.
