Vista compatability ?

I am having trouble with videos i put on my vista computer,they will not play smoothly,the picture quality is ok but it jumps on playback every second or so.It is totally unwatchable. A friend has windows 7 and he says it works fine on that. Any suggestion please ?

Maybe its my phone that is the problem ??? I have put video on my comp from other sources without any problem.

Please advise me, as I am lost.
I need to find out whether the application called "Adobe Audtion 3.0 Vista Compatibility" is
1) a proper program that requires its own purchase/license
or
2) just a service release, which does not require a license doc. but which is thus covered by the license doc. for Audition 3.
I need this for a Software License Compliance report.
I do not have access the the company's PC, so I cannot go a check anywhere or ask anybody.
I sit in a different company.
Normnally I can find the info I seek on the internet, but I cannot decide on this one.
The info comes from 'Add/remove programs'.

Zen Sleek / Vista Compatability Er

I've searched this forum and found only one post with an answer to the Zen Sleek / Windows Vista compatability problem
Its a good thing NO ONE gives a straight forward answer to the situation
all i'm looking for is a solution to this situation, my computer can see that I have an mp3 player connected, however I cant see any of the songs I have on it, through any program I use or anything
So how would I be able to manage songs with vista is my q?

What firmware is your Zen Sleek running? (Menu-> System-> Information)
It needs to have the PlaysForSure firmware so that Vista recognizes it as an MTP Device.
Check out the information on the Drivers for PlayForSure Zen Micro, Zen Sleek, Zen Touch or Zen Xtra on Windows98SE/Me/2000 sticky thread.
Unfortunately it's a bit rough upgrading firmware on Vista as there's a Catch-22: Vista won't recognize your device until the firmware is updated, but you can't update the firmware unless Vista recognizes your device. :|
The work-around is to update the firmare on an XP machine and then plug it into the Vista machine. MTP Devices are supposed to be supported by Vista, so it should recognize your Zen Sleek.
MicroSoft could have saved the world a lot of grief by having decent Legacy Device support, but that's another thread in itself.

Vista Compatable Sound Bo

So am I missing the point ? As I see it Creative and now ASUS are offering the only top end sound cards for computers. Neither are VISTA Compatable or their products marketing don't list them as such. I don't think it's entirely Creative's fault. They are trying to run after Microsofts skirts in a low margin product and tying to patch up bad ( from a users standpoint) design decisions. When is either going to offer a top end sound card VISTA compatable, offering really top end h- fi capable of being input into a really top end components for?Hi Def TV and running MP3s with enhanced output and software to match . I would be willing to pay "through the nose"? ~ $ ,000 for this. As yet this market is untouched? by manufacturers. As the market for Hi end TV's and PC's, there is a growing market. Hopefully Creative realizes this. .... Maybe with the hardware scrunched down and Direct X eliminated and DRM applied to the audio stream this will never be a reality in PC's ??

My X-Fi platinum was vista compatible... I'm pretty sure the elite pro is also compatible...

Are there any recent articles/websites about compatibility between Java and Vista, Especially older versions of the JRE, like 1.4.x and 1.5.x ?

Why would you worry about older version of the JDK running on Vista, since newer version of the JDK will quite happily execute code compiled for older version of Java?
If it is a question of making sure that programs still behave properly with older VMs, for previous version of Windows, then I reckon you should keep an older version of Windows around too.

Windows Vista compatibility for Crviewer.DLL

Our Windows XP are installed CRVIEWER.DLL Crystal Viewer 11.5 (Version 11.5.8.826), I'd like to know does this DLL support Windows Vista, or need to upgrade to a newer DLL? Also, any known bug is this version?

I haven't seen many issues with Vista.I would think the viewer would be fine.

Hierarchical keywords and vista compatability

Any chance Lightroom could export/write Hierarchical Keywords that are compatible with Vista?

I expored a photo with hierarchical keywords in Lightroom and they did not appear in Windows Photo Gallery.
Looking at the jpg in notepad it appears that the parent/child relationship is not written in the XMP block. The keywords are instead flattened.

As far as I know there needs to be better standards on how hierarchical keywords are stored in XMP. It would be ideal if there was a standard to store hierarchical keywords in legacy ICPT fields, even though they were not designed for a hierarchy. Just getting everyone to agree on the delimiter would be a great help. I'd like to be able to store my hierarchical keywords on my jpg ICPT fields as a backup that is independent of side car files and ideally independent of any software, right now users have to jump through a lot of hoops to make keywords written in one application, perfectly compatible with another one.

Pix/Aironet/Vista compatability

Our small clinic uses a Windows NT server, connecting 2 portables using an 1121G Wireless router through a PIX 501 firewall (we also have two fixed LAN units) . Just got an HP m8357c with Vista installed, tried to use the wireless but having problems with connecting. After applying the WEP key, it tries to connect, shows "aquiring an IP address", indicates "connected with limited access" then drops off and starts the cycle again.
When I check the wireless connection, the WEP key is reduced from 26 characters to 8. IS this a Vista issue? Or is there a problem with the router? They have worked fine for 3 years for the NT server and XP workstations, both LAN and wireless.

Don't be concerned about the length of the WEP . Sometimes this seems to reduced. Make sure the key is right. This could be an issue with Vista.

ITunes and Vista compatability

I've just switched to Vista on a Vista-ready laptop. iTunes won't load and I get a message that I need to "repair" iTunes. For whatever reason, I can't seem to "repair" iTunes (probably because it isn't "broken"). Any ideas about what might be wrong and how to make these two work nicely together?

I have this router for our home network and run XP and 98SE through it with no problem. My wife's XP machine is starting to make bad noises so she is looking at a new machine which has Vista on it. My question is will Vista work with this router. I seem to remember back when someone discussed this but the search function here could not find it and I seem to remember problems someone had. don't know about the v4, but I hooked up a v2 to a Vista machine today, and I was able to connect to the internet wirelessly. The setup disk didn't seem to load the driver correctly, and I had to let windows find the device and load the driver, then it worked. I have a problem with not being able to connect to the desktop printer, even though file and printer sharing is enabled. not sure if that is a router issue, a XP issue, a Vista issue, or a combination of all of them...
