Vista doesnt like my 8800s?

Hey guys, I recently got a reasonably uber Mac Pro, but in my Windows partition, I get a Windows Experience Index Score of 1.0, because it doesnt recognize my video cards/drivers or something.
-I have put in the Leopard Disk in Vista to install the driver recognition stuff, and performed Bootcamp perfectly. I also did the driver updates through one of the automatic Windows thingies.
-System Profiler (on Leopard) recognizes both of my 8800 GTs, and in Device Manager (on Vista Home Basic 32bit) it recognizes both as well under Display Adapters.
-In the Welcome Center in Vista, it shows an 8800 as my grahics card, that seems like a good thing.
-In the Properties of both my 8800 Gts, there are no 'conflicting devices', my driver version is 7.15.11.6763, the 'device is working properly', location: PIC bus 1/2, device 0, function 0, and there arent any updates available for this device.
-Somewhere on Vista, I forget, it said that I had like 2.075GB of supported GPU memory available, 512MB per card, and 0MB "dedicated system memory", that sounded important to me.
-My Mac came with one 8800, and I installed another myself before partitioning.
-Everything else works and looks fine in Vista, solely my graphic's scores are bad.
-I have tried installing drivers from laptopvideo2go.com, and of course refreshing the Windows Score and restarting.
Well, I havent tried installing and running Crysis yet, could this just be Windows Experience index malfunctioning? It is also called Win. Exp. Index "Unrated" for some reason, does that mean its not to be trusted? If so, Im sorry to have wasted your time with all this information, but is there any way to check that everything is runnin great in Vista?
Thanks!

Windows Experience Index rates your computer's hardware, but doesn't directly determine whether you can run something. Yes, I could disregard it, but I want to make sure that everything works. The computer recognizes the cards at least, but I dont know how to tell if they are actually working (Windows Experience Index is the most common/best way). I guess I could just try running Crysis, but is there a simpler way to test the 8800s performance in Vista?
Thanks

  • Flashplayer on vista doesnt work

Hi!i have windows vista home premium and i tried several
times to install the flash player 10 but it always says
installation complete but doesnt show the flash movie on the
download page, also at youtube just a black box appears where there
should be the movie but nothing happens also no sound. i´ve
already tried to uninstall all older versions before installing the
new one, and also the subinacl installation and the administration
thing recommended at the support center but nothing works not with
firefox and not with internet explorer. please help if you have any
    idea
    thx

I am having the same problem. I just upgraded to Window Vista
Home Premium (when I had the Basic version everything worked fine).
I believe it was still ok until I installed Adobe Creative Suite 4
Design Premium. Now I even when I install Flash Player 10 (tried 9
too), it looks like it is installed but it is not working. Can't
see ANYTHING animated on any site at all. I have tried everything
on this forum and all of the others. Please tell me how to fix
this. Or I think a class action law suit is in order and all
100,000 of us having this problem should sue Adobe.

  • New computer, ipod doesnt like him...

    Hi everyone,
Im Timo and i have my ipod touch for a while now (2nd gen) and ever since i bought a new computer my ipod is not recognized by neither windows (7) or Itunes...
I have tried many things but nothing seems to work, there is a little hope because when i connect it to my dads computer it is instantly recognized by itunes and windows (xp).
When i connect it to my computer it doesnt charge, it does when connected to my dads computer... please help,
    Timo
(Sorry for my bad english, im dutch :P)

Unfortunately it doesn't work thanks for your effort,
    Drat.
If Christine's suggestion doesn't help (it's certainly worth following up), I'd like to check the details of your motherboard a bit more closely, Timo.
Try downloading and installing a copy of Belarc Advisor:
    http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Run an audit of the PC with belarc Advisor. Under "Main Circuit Board" what do you see next to "Board:"?
For example, on my Lenovo I see:
    *Board: LENOVO 889703U*

Like when im facetiming someone and the person on the other end ends the facetime mine doesnt end. Like for me the picture is frozen but you can still see me move in the camera. does this happen to anyone else??

Force quit all apps then reset the phone by pushing the power/lock button and home button until the Apple logo appears. See if that helps.

  • Vista doesnt know what an iPod is.

Its worked before, but now my Vista laptop says it cant find the driver for this device, which is my iPod.
I dont know why Vista can't find a driver for my iPod, or why it needs one. It doesnt even reconize it as a Mass USB storage device.
Its just... this thing... thats connected to a USB port, according to Vista.
    Help please??

It should provided the movies are in iDevice format and can be loaded into iTunes. Movies are not the same as applications. You need an application to play the movie, but the movie itself is not an application. If a movie isn't correctly formatted they can be changed using third-party software or using Quick Time.

I appologise in advance if this question has been answered elsewhere, I did try look and followed the instructions in the other threads on similar topics but none worked for me. I also would like to appologise if this is in the wrong section of the forums.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ducky.

I'm using xf86-video-intel. All packages from core and extra. Nothing compiled by hand or from testing.
Maybe there are small and subtle differences in the hardware? Because otherwise it's not logical that you see these performance problems and I don't. Some people have seen their problems gone with kernel 2.6.31, It should be out in a week, so hopefully that solves your problems too.
Anyway, I post my X log and dmesg, in case you can spot something there that could give you a clue.

  • ColdFusion doesnt like a Dash in XML Nodes?

One of the SOAP requests I do gives back:
    nodes like this:
    <weather-conditions weather-summary="Chance Rain
    Showers">
But if I try to reference them in CF like such:
    writeoutput('#XMLContent.dwml.data.parameters.weather.weather-conditions.XmlAttributes["we ather-summary"]#');
It doenst like it. I'd rather not use XMLChildren to get
around this as its usually messy.

Here, associative-array notation is better than dotted
    notation. Use
    XMLContent["dwml"]["data"]["parameters"]["weather"]["weather-conditions"].XmlAttributes["w eather-summary"]

  • K7N2G-ILSR doesnt like two sticks of mem.

    Hello all
This ILSR board wont boot into window with two sticks of 512mb at the same time.Only one at a time will get me into windows. Not sure what is going on. Any ideas?  Thanks  James

K-Byte is not a manufacturer of RAM, they are a re-packer.That is they take bulk RAM mostly cheap, from dozens of places and pack them into their retail boxes. It sort of "Like a box of chocolates, you never know what's inside".You might have two packs of K-Byte but the brands will be different and not necessarily compatable with each other. If you do consider a re-packer like K-Byte, look at several packages to make sure you find two of the same brands. One brand that is often packed by K-Byte is VT. I use it in one of my boards and it works great. Not as good as my Mushkin, but compatable.Hope that will clear of any questions about K-Byte.
As far as W98 and RAM, the sweet spot is around 160 megs to run optimal. So more than 256 is overkill IMHO.Not sure on the max amount.Buy Windows XP SP1.I have 98 second edition and won't use it on these boards.

  • Premier doesnt like MPG file.

Hello all. I am having a problem with Adobe Premier Pro CS3. I was given video files off of a hard disk camcorder. They were in mpg format. (I dont have any options to get them in another format) I have been working on editing them, and the first three, with exception of poor quality worked fine. The fourth and final one is giving me problems. Whenever I am working on the file in Premier, the program just crashes. No error, nothing, it just closes. I am at a loss of what to do. I have transcoded with three different programs and countless formats, and Premier wont take any of them.(DV AVI, countless MPGs, etc.) Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a prefered program that will take this file and make it workable?
    Thanks,
    Brennan
Edit: I should also add that I have tried it on multiple computers, with the same results.

OK, this one (missed the first one?) has AC3 Audio. CS4 handles that fine. For AC3 in CS3, you need to go to the Encore folder and copy the AC3 .dll file to the main folder for PrPro CS3. I cannot give you the specific name, as it changed between my PrPro 2.0 and CS3, and you'll not find mine on your system. This will allow CS3 to handle AC3 Audio natively. There are some posts with the exact file name that you need, but it is similar to: ad2mcac3dec.dll. I'd search for AC3+CS3+Encore and you will likely find the exact file name. Just Copy (do not Move) to the main folder, and reboot.
That should help with the file that you posted the G-Spot screen-cap for.
Good luck, and let us know how it works.

PS - I feel certain that Ann Bens (a contributor here) has posted that exact file name, so you might want to Filter on People = Ann Bens

  • The ipod universal dock just doesnt like cases.

Its no doubt that all the dock adapters were meant to only fit the ipods with no case or anything. I have an ipod touch with a sort of rubber back caseing. The thing wont fit into any dock adapters, but fits into the dock without an adapter just fine. It seems a bit less stable, but works 100% fine. Is there going to be any problems with it if I continue using it without a dock adapter?

Hi I too have the i touch and the rubber case. What i did was used the no 10 insert and cut the ends so the case fits in ok i found using no 10 the best

  • My mac doesnt like me anymore

I LOVE my MB and for the most part "she" is attached to her AC adaptor so that she doesn't lose juice but this morning after updating my lil silver ipod shuffle - while my MB was not connected to the ac adaptor -- everything just went BLACK. My MB shut down - without reconnecting her...I tried to reboot - she tries but it just isn't happening! The battery is charged. I have updated software and firmware and still anytime you are trying to work without having the adapter she turns off immediately and stays off until you connect back to the adaptor. I have been reading other post - although we have the same issue...it's really not the same. Help! and Thanks

You might try to reset the SMC (System Management Controller). From the way it sounds your battery is bad. I suggest you call Apple service and get their help.

  • DSL doesnt like jetpack

I have had dsl for years. I recently purchased a jetpack for faster speed.  Whenever I would connect to the jetpacck, the speed didnt seem much faster than the dsl speed.  After an hour with Verizon Wireless suport, it was determined that I was unable to access those speeds until I disabled the Verizon router by unplugging the ethernet cable.  Once I unplugged the dsl modem, it went right to the Jetpack and have incredible speeds. It went from 1.2 mbps to 35 mbps.  My question is how can I do both without unplugging the dsl line?  Anyone else have this problem?

The problem is your computer is connected via Ethernet cable, and a wired connection is preferred over a wireless connection. By unplugging the Ethernet cable, you force it to connect with the wireless. You can get around this by changing the settings in Windows.
If I were you, I'd go with the DSL and cancel the Jetpack. You'll go over your data limit so fast and spend WAY MORE than you ever imagined.

Try importing them from the Nano to your computer. Here is a way that might work (if you can see files on your Ipod)
    1) If Itunes is already installed disk use may need to enabled so you can see the Ipod in my computer. Itunes hides your ipod from windows otherwise.
    2) Make sure you can view hidden files. In MY computer go to tools>folder options>view>show hidden files and folders.
    3) Windows should see the ipod and your music should be on your ipod in several hidden folders. To be safe I would copy it all to say your desktop.
    4) Install Itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and the Ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ (if you don't already have it installed)
After that drag the copied folder to Itunes (drag and drop or in Itunes (File>add folder to library)
You may need to authorise your new computer by playing it in the library first.
