Vista driver/detection problems with Zen
Ok, I've recently switched from Windows 2000 to Windows Vista 32-bit (different PC, not an upgrade) and i'm having trouble with my computer detecting my Micro 6GB AND installing the needed drivers- I no longer have the original software.
When I connect the player into the USB dri've, a prompt recognizes the player brand/type and asks me to either install the software via cd-rom or locate the files needed manually. I downloaded the Creative Mediasource Player/Organizer as well as Microsoft DirectX 0, yet the entire installation process runs smoothly until last minute when it notifies me that "setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system." I'm also unable to locate my player in the device manager through Windows Control Panel. It does, however, detect my Micro as a Zen product when i put it in Removable Disk mode.
Why does my operating system recognize my player initially, yet it doesn't detect it on my
system, rendering me unable to install the software? Thanks for any help.
No, and I had that thought in the back of my head- I figured the problem was with Windows Vista. It's not possible to update your firmware when your computer won't detect your player though, right?

Random Problems with Zen Micro? Try a diff. USB cable
I know people have mentioned this in other posts, but I thought I would reiterate it here. Many people seem to be complaining that their player is not recognized, or only sometimes recognized, or recognized by Windows (as a USB device) but not by their Creative software, or songs won't transfer, etc. Well, I had some similar problems which ALL went away when I started using a different USB cable - the one that shipped with the Micro just doesn't seem to work consistently.
So, if you are having problems with your player that you can't seem to solve any other way, you may want to try a different USB cable. It worked for me.

I've also been experiencing the "Player Not Connected" problem with my Zen Micro.
I've also had the problem where the Zen Micro just freezes in the "Docked" screen even after it has been disconnected from the PC
I've noticed that these are common problems with Zen Micros with the new firmware (.0.03)
My old Zen Micro with the old, original firmware did NOT have this connectivity problem
Creative should investigate these issues associated with this new firmware, or maybe even making the old firmware available for download to see if this really is the source of all these problems. -
After just recently purchasing a Zen Touch in December 2005, I already have problems with it.
I have never dropped it or hit it. I plugged it in to re-charge one day after using it and when it was done charging I turned it on, used it for 5 minutes then set it down. The next morning I went to turn it on to use it, and it wouldn't turn on. The blue light at the side on the power button was on, but the screen just wouldn't show up. Now the blue light won't turn off. I have read about these problems with Zen Micro freezing up and read about Zen Touch freezing up back in 2004 when it was released. I have phoned the number but couldn't seem to get through. Should I consider taking it in? Or is there an easier way?Have you tried resetting it's Connect to the mains adapter and press the tiny recessed button on the side of the player. Don't use anything sharp to press it, a bent paper clip is best.

I purchased a refurbished Zen Xtra back in May and had the player lock up on several occasions. It would eventually resolve if I let the batteries drain and then recharge. The last time it happened I came to these forums and learned how to enter recovery mode. I tried to do a firmware update which failed and now the player will only boot into recovery mode. When I attempt to do the firmware update I get the message player not connected. I can see the player connected in windows and can actuall browse the HD which is obviously now empty. How can this be resolved?

But even with this it's stil the same problem. This is crap, because sometimes you can do it, but sometimes not. Beside of this Creative Centrale doesn't have any good functions. For further users - don't install Creative Centrale! You will have more free space and do all things (without moving films to watch on your player) just from your computer and not this **bleep**.

Power and Sync problems with Zen Vision:M
)Power and Sync problems with Zen Vision:MX Lately, my Vision M is having problems that when I plug it into the USB port on any PC to charge it, it lights up for a moment and then goes blank.
When I unplug it and reseat the usb cable, nothing happens. When I try to turn it on, it's dead. This happens even though it's not fully depleted of battery energy.
Pressing the reset button does not do anything. The only thing that I've found that will work is to open it up and unplug the battery. But even that is starting to not work.
This doesn't happen every time I use it, but it is happening quite a bit. It's gotten to the point today that I can't even charge the battery at all.
Any suggestions? I don't think it's the battery, as it does charge when I don't have these issues, but I'm not really positi've of that either.The connector on the motherboard check it . It may need to be resoldered. The last time I ran into those symptoms that was the solution.

[Vista x64] Microphone problems with X-Fi and 2.15 drive
Hi guys,?I'm having a problem with the 2.5 drivers on my X-Fi Platinum card, under Vista x64. It seems the microphone inputs (both on the card and on the breakout box) have problems, any recordings stutter and pop rapidly, making any recordings (or voice chat)?quite useless. This issue doesn't occur with the 2.3 drivers. Is there any known solution to this problem yet?My system: e6600 CPU, Asus P5W-DH motherboard (975X chipset), 4GB RAM, 8800GTX, X-Fi Platinum. Thanks.

since I never had this problem with installing this software, I cant really tell whats wrong, but you dont need it anyway to use the x-fi.
but you may want to try one thing, since it crashes at 27% something may still be in use, so check your task manager and close everything that has CT in its name. then try reinstalling again. If that still doesnt work, try to empty your temp folder, its located in documents and settings/user you are/local settings/temp
if that still doesnt work, try maybe something stupid, wait a bit longer than usual and keep the install window in the front to watch the process, maybe your pc is just a bit slowed down by other software so it may take longer than normal -
Hi. As i have said, I have a zen NX (20 gig). I havent had a problem with it at all until now. Just recently, i had to format my hard dri've. I now have XP Pro with SP2 installed. I go to install all the creative programs and that works fine. but when i plug in my player,media source will not detect it. it acts like the drivers arent installed. I even get the 3 dongs in windows when you connect a device that doesnt have the drivers installed. I downloaded the drivers off the website and i get an error saying that i dont have permission to install and that i need to do it as the computer administrator. the funny thing is, is that my account IS the computer administrator! if any one knows how to fix this problem, i would appreciate it. thanks
disregard the previous post. i figured out the problem. for some reason i had to install the driver in safe mode. it now works perfectly. thanks any way

Okay, so I bought my zen, then after some issues that have been delt with and a replacement later, I finnally got a zen that worked, and hav been using it for about a month now.
im very happy with it, but i hav been having the most annoying problem with it. basically i did the big NO NO of connecting the player BEFORE installing it with the CD, so Vista has installed it, i think but without the right software to do so.
so now, everytime i connect it to the computer, even after installing the CD, all it does is charge, it does not dock. after hours of stress and hair pulling, i finally found how to get it to dock.
I go to device manager and uninstall the creative zen, then take out the USB, then put it back in.
this allows me to go into dock mode, but a little vista bubble in the corner says it is installing new hardware (the zen) and after about 5 seconds, the zen is back in device manager after a "successful installation", and it once again becomes undocked untill I uninstall and repeat.
If i go to propeties of the creative zen it says "This device cannot start. (Code 0)" is that is any help.
its so annoying and stressful, having to drag 3 songs on at a time, and i cant create any playlists or do anything much other than charge the player.
so i beg of anyone who knows the cure to this problem, please help i cant see any topics for this specific problem, and none of the FAQs help ?____?

Do you have Service Pack installed on the Computer? Did you try to have Windows update the driver for it's? Do you have another usb cord for the device you can use as the cord could be bad. I would try a new cord before I did anything else to my computer. Take player to the store with you when purchasing so you know that it's the right one. They're not very expsensi've(under $0.00 U.S.) You may try system restore to a time befroe you started using the Zen. BE ADVISED THAT WILL DELETE ALL FILES,PROGRAMS,WINDOWS UPDATES ECT, that where installed after the restore date. Have you formatted the playe? That too will erase all files on the Zen. I would try the format on the player first before a system restore. -
Strange problem with zen micro (I'm going mad!!
merry xmas!! I've bought a zen micro in seprember, flashed with .xx firmware; I always used it with windows 2000 with no problem, but... problems began when I've installed a pci card usb 2.0 on my pc; the card worked finely with everything but not with zen micro, that's to say that everytime I tried to import songs by media explorer, the program often wasn't able to import songs; so I've installed windows xp and flashed zen micro with 2.xx firmware (I've installed also service pack 2 and wmp0), but things have gone wrong!!! now everytime I connect zen micro to pc, xp asks the drivers, and it doesn't want neither the driver I've found on creative's cd, nor drivers downloaded from creative's site!! And it's not finished: now zen micro is without firmware and everytime I'm trying to flsh it, a dialogue box says that the player is not connect!!!
can anybody help me? otherwise I'll have to write to creative support for a substitution...
please help me!!!!!Strange. Unfortunately MTP connection problems are very tricky to solve. It's hard to know whether the firmware upgrade was partially successful, and whether you are on v or v2 firmware. It sounds like v2 firmware, due to the connection problems with MTP.
The drivers for the v2 firmware are provided by Windows Media Player 0, and are located in the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. You could try pointing there.
As the player has no firmware though you have to go into recovery mode, choose "reload firmware", then connect to the PC (see if it's detected) and run the firmware update again.
If this doesn't work try and find another PC, say a friend's, that meets the requirements of Win XP + SP/2 + WMP0, and see if you can update.
In terms of resolving the connection problem if it continues, have a look at this thread, particularly the reply by DM, which goes through some of the troubleshooting to solve MTP connection problems. Also look for the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post. -
Arch64 ati radeon 3870 radeonhd driver. Problem with xorg.conf.
I've got a small problem with my xorg. I won't hide that i'm not a xorg nerd and i've used the automatic xorg tool to generate the xorg.conf. After starting X, the screen goes black and then after ~5 seconds montior switches to power-saving mode.

Hard drive detection problem - PLEASE HELP!!!!
I'm about at my wits end with this problem. One of my drives crashed over the weekend, and since then the replacement drive never gets detected. When I have the second drive installed, my computer never gets past the "Verifying DMI Pool Data", then says disk boot failure. When I take out the second drive, my computer boots fine. I've tried different jumper settings, thinking maybe i looked at the diagram backwards, disconnecting my DVD drive and putting the hard disk on the secondary IDE, and installing the new drive as the master and installing Windows on it, with the old drive as the slave. Nothing has worked. As soon as I connect a second hard drive, I get a disk boot failure. I've checked the boot priority a hundred times, and it's correct. In case it was a power supply problem, I removed everything except the two hard drives and some RAM, and that didn't fix anything. I'm lost as to where to go from here. My computer works fine without the second drive, but I need the second drive for gaming.
I'm now thinking it may be the motherboard, because a couple things have happened over the last month. First, all of a sudden I got a CMOS checksum error, then about a week and a half ago the onboard NIC died. And when I installed the updated drivers and flashed the BIOS, on restart I received an error message saying something was wrong with the overclocking settings and had been reset to the default values. The problem with that is I never overclock anything.
I'm not even sure the old drive actually crashed anymore. I heard clicking coming from the computer, and when I all of a sudden lost access to the drive, I assumed it crashed. But now that I am unable to get the brand new drive to work, I'm thinking I need to get a new motherboard. I'm trying to avoid that as long as I can though because this one is only 5 months old.
Would a possible solution be to just leave the master on IDE, and buy a SATA drive to use as a second disk? Or does mixing IDE and SATA cause issues?

Does the 2nd HD work then, were you able to boot up and install Windows?
Does BIOS detect it?
Have you tried a new IDE cable?
Make sure that all the pins are properly in and not loose in the molex connector to the HD.
Have you tried using the new drive alone on IDE-1 or 2?
Have you tried clearing CMOS? remove P/S AC cord, press case power button a few times to drain remaining power then clearing CMOS buy way of the jumper.

Now, the problem is, I can't really use it on my PC. A few weeks ago I had the very old firmware. But then I thought I update it (why? I don't know...)I Updated to the version ..0 from Jul 05. It worked anyway...
So I plugged in the MP3 player to my new pc but it was not really detected or it did not want to work. When it was plugged in, I couldnt open any program. Even if it was Media Source or Opera or winamp... They did not appear. But they were "open" as they appeared in the task manager. So I couldnt use Media Source. So I tried with Zen Media Explorer, all buttons there were clickable but when I clicked on one butteon (like organize music...) it didnt react...
so I thought: "ok with this firmware, it wont work" So I updated the firmware to 2.2.02 Plays for sure. Neither with the new Media Source on your site nor with Zen Media Explorer (I installed the Update)it does not work. The plays for sure plugin for Media Source wasnt as well helpful. I can drag and drop files on my mp3 player, OK this is one way, but still when it is plugged in, I cant use any other program, as I cant open them.
I dont want to use the drag and drop way as I then have to download a program for editing mp3 tags and I cant as well make playlists...With Media Source it was so easy... I want to use Media Source and I want my PC react even if my Zen Micro is plugged in...
So what to do? I thought about installing the very old firmware what I had before I updated to ..0 but where can I download it's

Presumably it isn't, so you need to verify this by looking in Device Manager when the player is connected. -
Photoshop cs6 has detected problem with gpu
