Vista h prem.64bit (s6636sc)- limitations on HD size ? do not accept/format additional HD of 2Tb

Vista home prem. 64bit  (s6636sc) with std 640 Gb HD.
Have now added a 2Tb barracuda HD wia sata cable.  Seems to work fine, hovever i can't format it for more than about 1 Tb. ( by splitting the disk in two, - and only the first approx 1 TB can be formattted )
Vista should have no problem with that as far as I know  ? ?  What could be wrong ?
System and Win is fully updated SP2 - and all checked by HP-help . .  Have tried both MBR and GPT initializing - no difference . .  Have tested the new HD in another PC running Win 7- Here there were no problem, - so the HD should be OK !

Hsk-DK,
I find no reference for HP model s6636sc. Do you have a link?

  • IPod Classic 80GB works OK with iTune 9.0.2.25 under Vista Home Prem-64Bit

I have been reading all of the many problems people are having with their iPod classic after their iTunes 9 upgrade.
I just wanted everyyone to know that I have been upgrading iTune software automatically as soon as they become available, and right now it is Ver. 9.0.2.25. My operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium - 64 bit. Everything is running just fine.
Hope this piece of information helps narrow the focus as to where problem lies.

Glad you've been doing okay, PK.
Here's a few possibilities that might be worth checking on with people that aren't covered in the standard documentation.
*Windows 7 USB Host Controllers and nVidia chipsets*
One issue that has been catching people out on *Windows 7* systems with nVidia chipsets is a flaw in the Windows 7 USB Host Controller drivers, as per:
[You encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972]
It can manifest as intermittent trouble with normal syncing. Then folks (naturally enough) often try a restore in an attempt to rectify matters, and then can't restore, or have no luck whatsoever getting any syncs to work afterwards.
Here's a typical example of that one:

    *CA security software*
CA security products have been interfering with restores, updates, iTunes Store connections and sundry other matters in recent times. Folks with CA software can often get past that by applying the settings changes described in kalda01's post here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10525876#10525876
    *error 0xE8000065*
Seems to be related mostly to the Intel P55 and P55M chipsets. Checking for BIOS and chipset updates helps for some people. With others (with a user configurable BIOS of the right sort), the following workaround has been of some help:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10641649&#10641649
(Unfortunately, not everyone gets that option in their BIOS.)

  • Vista 32Bit or 64Bit?

    Hi,
Has anyone got any suggestions and some advice on which version of Vista is better, 32Bit or 64Bit and why?
My T500 has 4GB memory, but this is the maximum, at the moment, not sure if this will change when the 4GB SDIMM's will be realeased.
I've currently got Vista Business edition 64Bit installed on it but I'm having issues, not sure if it's me or the software, but would like to get some input from those who have 32Bit and 64Bit version of Vista on their T500.
    Thanks in advance,

I've tried XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, and Vista Business 64 on my T400.  I ended up sticking with the 64 bit OS since with the switchable graphics option and the limits of a non-PAE 32 bit OS, I only had 2.5G of RAM available with 3G or 4G installed.  With VB 64, I get almost 4G usable which I need for the virtual machines I run.
I have been able to get (almost) all of my apps to run, and once I got the wifi sorted (by downgrading to the 5100 card) it has been quick and stable.  So far...
    YMMV
    What "issues" are you having?

  • Itunes and Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

I just purchased a HP TouchSmart with Vista Home Premium 64bit system.I have itunes loaded but after about 10 min. after i connect my ipod to it it locks up the computer completely. I have tried itunes on 2 identical computers and got the same results.
I also did a restore on the ipod and it still does the same thing. Any help will be appreciated.bobwire

Just an update, though it's more of a (non) update.
I'm not sure how but I managed to get it working.
After doing the things mentioned above, I tried a system restore but that didn't work and seemed to throw more error messages my way. Then I ran AppleSoftewareUpdater.exe and it gave me red X errors with no details, I assumed the install failed completely.
Following this, I manually downloaded and tried to install the latest version again but it said iTunes was already installed. At this point I'm far past annoyed.
So, I click on iTunes and now everything works.
I wish I knew what actually fixed the problem so others could benefit if they're experiencing the same thing....hence why I say, (non)-update.
    Anyways,
    Take care Everyone

  • Better privecy does not work with windows vista home prem. what other program removes LSO'S AND HOW can I stop trackers?

    Question
better privacy does not work with windows vista home prem. what other program removes LSO'S AND HOW can I stop trackers? edit
    Details

As a temporary workaround, I believe this Adobe management page allows you to clear your "Flash cookies": [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Storage Settings panel] (hosted on macromedia.com -- Macromedia was the original developer of Flash).
Regarding the script error, if I'm reading the script correctly, it is related to accessing your Flash cookies directory. It seems the publisher's support forum is not currently available for searching, but that might be a good next step.
In the meantime, could you check whether the script has the correct location for your Flash cookies directory? If you can't access Tool > BetterPrivacy, you could check here:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''bpr''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) There should be a bolded setting named '''extensions.bprivacy.DataDir''' which looks approximately like the following:
    C:\Users\''yourWindowsUsername''\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia
Do you have a similar value? If you paste the path used by BetterPrivacy into a Windows Explorer window, does it open? Also, click a couple levels in the folder, can you see:
    Flash Player \ #SharedObjects
If the value is wrong, right-click the wrong value and choose Reset. BetterPrivacy should update the value the next time you try to access it.
If the value is blank, you could try inserting a sensible value and see whether that helps.
    Any luck?

  • Windows Vista 32bit or 64bit?

Which is better for my new mac book pro, Windows Vista 32bit or 64bit Ultimate? All I care about is all of my programs and games working properly. And what does 86x mean? Will one version of the bits work faster than the other?

    Hi Konnexion,
There is another more important limit with 32-bit versions of Windows, and that is the limit of 2 GBS of RAM per process. Unless some tricks and tweaks are used (which can result in reduced stability), no matter how much physical RAM is installed, a single application can't use more than 2 GBs. This is important for applications that can use large amounts of RAM like video and picture rendering apps, and even some games these days (particularly in Vista).
On the other hand, the 64-bit version of Vista has a number of additional security enhancements over the 32-bit version, such as address-space layout randomization, mandatory driver signing. If you have the RAM (at least 4GBs) and games are not a priority, I would actually recommend using the 64-bit version. Of course, why would you be using Boot Camp, if it weren't for games LOL?

  • Do u use vista 32bit or 64bit software with bootcamp 1.4?

I just got a mac pro and need to use older pc software and will load vista.
macpro is 64bit computer but the bootcamp 1.4 manual says for XP use 32 bit software. Is this the same for Vista, or can I use 64bit vista software?
    Many thanks

macpro is 64bit computer but the bootcamp 1.4 manual says for XP use 32 bit software. Is this the same for Vista, or can I use 64bit vista software?
Bootcamp only supports 32bit windows and while you are correct that your computer is 64bit and can run Vista 64 its generally not recommended.
First the only real advantage to running 64bit windows is you have access to more ram. The downside is that unlike 32bit windows, 64 bit will only install Microsoft Signed drivers. This can be accomplished by searching the net, but until you get them all your computer will have less functionality.
Third (I cannot confirm this since I don't run 64bit vista) is that 64bit windows reportedly has issues running games and such.
Bottom line, problems with getting the drivers, running games just for a more maximum ram means little advantage to going that route.

Is Firefox 4.0 now compatible with ZoneAlarm Browser 1.5.260.0 and Windows Vista Home Premium, 64Bit System, Service Pack 2? Earlier when checking for updates there were compatibility issues. Were these issues resolved to allow me secure operation with Firefox 4.0?

I also am a zone alarm user and was not to happy about the issue with 4.0

  • Windows Vista Home prem Sleep issues on macpro

Hi all i recently purchased a Macbook Pro 15" 2.5 processor and duel booted it with vista home prem,
(i use refit as my boot-up program)
recently after using the vista side more often i've discovered that if i leave the laptop on and its idle it will go into sleep or hibernation not sure which one(i use a LED mouse which stays on during the laptops 'sleep' state), however i cannot re-awake the laptop from this state i usually have to turn the laptop off then on again, when entering windows after i have done this it says its recovered from a serious error and would i like to start in safe mode etc..
i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows a way to solve it,
    thanks all

It is possible that even the latest Apple BootCamp 2.1 drivers don't handle the latest MBP hardware.
Early on, hibernation was a problem for anyone on Vista, PCs as well as Macs.
I have to unplug my mouse and keyboard when it goes into hibernation. When you restart in that manner, do you do a chkdsk or have any errors crop up as a result? I know on OS X side that can leave the disk dirty and in need of repair.
PS: I thought you were talking about the desktop MacPro, not the MacBook Pro...

  • Need Help upgrading IQ816t Touchscreen from Vista Home Prem to Win7 Ult

I purchased (eBAY) 25" IQ816t with Vista Home Prem, and seller provided Win7 Ult AIO disk with the deal.   Seller reset to base OS prior to shipping to me.  Everything works fine w/Vista.
When trying to run the AIO disk,  using UPGRADE mode, I get conflicting message(s)...you can not upgrade from 64 bit to 32 bit;...and you can not upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit.   What gives?   I am doing something wrong?
Seller firm in that they had Win7 Ult running fine and that the AIO disk should work fine.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

I have the same model you have.  Our model is Vista 64, so if you are trying to upgrade, you can only upgrade to Win 7 64, and it sounds like you got a Win 7 32 disc.  See if it will let you do a full install of it and not an upgrade, if it won't, you need to get the Win7 64 disc for this.

  • WIndows Vista Home Premiun 64Bits + MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2007 ( 2.4 Ghz )

    Hi all,
i have a MacBook pro, ( MacBookPro3,1 ) with bootrom version MBP31.0070.B07. It is the Mid 2007 model, with 4 GB Ram. I want to install Windows for gaming purposes and i was wondering, since the documentation in the Boot Camp Support seems to be mixed, Could i install Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bits OEM, or do i need to install the 32 Bit version ? the documentation seem to suggest that the boot camp 2.1 download will offer supoort for Vista 64bits. Please help me decide what best to do here.
    Thanks in advance,

You need 64-bit if you want to use more than 2GB RAM.

  • Changing Vista 32bit to 64bit on Satellite A500-14Q

Please let me know if I could upgrade my operating system from Windows Vista Home Premium (32bit) to Windows Vista Home Premium (64bit).
I've initially configured the laptop to 32bit and as this has a RAM of 4GB, I need to know if I could upgrade it to 64bit so that I could upgrade to Windows 7.

    Hi
The recovery procedure doesnt take a long time Maybe 15 to 30 minutes. I dont know it exactly. I only make few clicks to start the procedure and then I drink a coffee. ;)
The advantages of 64bit system Well mate, I think its the support of 4GB or more RAM. On 32bit system you can only use ~3.2GB. Thats all!

  • Limitation on Service size for deploying

Is there any limitation on Service size for deploying? The size of my service is 5MB approx. and I am not able to migrate it through Catalog deployer as well as Exporting and Importing file.

There is no limit as such. The only limit imposed depends on the heap allocated for
              the JVM.

  • Limiting the Text Size in CRM 5.0 IC Web Client

    Hello Experts,
We have a scenario where in we can enter the text for a CRM Document (say Service document) in the text field of IC Web Client. We have noticed that we are even allowed to enter the text of size around 73 MB also (which comes into 1000s of Word Documents).
We have now have a requirement for limiting this text as it is causing some problems and somehow affecting system performance.
Could anyone help me in limitating the text size in CRM 5.0 IC Web Client. I mean whether there is any configuration setting for doing the same or we need to do it in any text determination Procedure. Thanks in anticipation for your response.
    Best Regards,
    Kishore K

    Kishore,
Use below code to determine no of characters typed in FoUpText.htm:
data: col_wrap type ref to cl_bsp_wd_collection_wrapper,
          lr_entity type ref to if_bol_bo_property_access,
          lv_str type string,
          lv_len type i.
          col_wrap = typed_context->BTTEXT->get_collection_wrapper( ).
          lr_entity ?= col_wrap->get_current( ).
          lv_str =  lr_entity->get_property_as_string('CONC_LINES').
          lv_len = strlen( lv_str ).
Place this code in controller FoUpText.do anywhere accordingly
    Cheers,
    Ankur
