Vista has no drivers for MacBook Pro DVD drive

When I boot into Vista, everything works well enough but I can't use the DVD drive on my MacBook Pro. Under the device manager it's listed as not having drivers and when you tell it to find them on the internet, it comes up empty handed.
Anyone know where I can find drivers for this drive? It's a Matsushita UJ-857D.

I've been having the same problem. THere was a discussion with a link that no longer exists.

  • My macbook pro dvd drive opens all disks as blank, can I fix it?

My macbook pro dvd drive opens all disks as blank. I have no access to a near by apple store as I live in remote NSW. I purchased the macbook when I lived in Sydney and the old owner had just had a fresh copy of the OS loaded. I've read a discussion of a similar nature and the only comment was take it back, that is easier said than done. Is there a fix I can do from home?

If you didn't buy this from the store, the first thing you need to do is boot from the install DVD, erase the disk drive (perhaps even zeroing it) and install a fresh copy of the OS. You do not want to inherit any changes the previous owner may have made to the system software (or worse).

I am talking about putting in any CD that is known to have content and it loads the CD and says its blank with nothing on it
    Who says?

My MacBook Pro disc drive keeps spinning and looking for a disc when there isn't one in there. The DVD application is closed and as far as I can tell, the eject button is not stuck. I've restarted, but the problem persists. Please help!

  • Windows 7 RC installation on MacBook Pro: 'DVD drive device driver missing'

I'm trying to install the Windows 7 RC on my unibody MacBook Pro (purchased november 2008). I create the partition in Boot Camp, insert the install DVD, and restart the system. Then the Windows setup starts as it's supposed to (Windows is loading files). The install program launches fine, and I get to choose language settings.
And now it all fails. After I've chosen language settings, I get the message: "A required CD(DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
    Screenshot of the message: http://img25.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00102yyh.jpg
I'm kinda baffled by this message. Obviously the drive can be use by the install program, but it still complains of a missing driver. I had no trouble installing the Windows 7 beta earlier this year.
I've done some googling, and it appears to be problem experienced by some others. Someone had the issue on an Asus machine (I think), and the solution was to download the driver and out it on a USB stick. But I can't seem to find the driver for the MBP DVD drive anywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

After countless days trying to solve this problem, I feel I can now add to the few solutions presented on the various forums of the internet. I'll post here because 1: i'm a mac user for everyday life although like most have as many pc's as well. 2: I already have a login for these forums!
okay so i tried everything from re-burns to usb install (which I could not complete because removable drives are not recognized by xp and I don't have a vista system). The problem for me ended up being because the DVD drive was plugged into the primary master ide channel. My hard drive for the unit i was installing windows on is sata and was configured as such (not bridged into IDE channel by bios). So in a nutshell it seems like the hard drive and the DVD drive are nit picky in regards to the IDE configuration of the drives themselves. This won't help for virtualization on a mac pro I realize but nonetheless is food for thought hopefully for all the people searching for " windows 7 install cd/dvd device driver missing " in their search engine!

  • Oh my lord, where can I get windows drivers for Macbook Pro?....

Does Apple really not have any place that I can download Windows drivers for the hardware in my August 2010 Macbook Pro?!?  I am trying to use windows through bootcamp, and I am having tons of trouble.  I know there are supposed to be drivers in the OSX DVD that came with my computer, but that is all the way back in Maryland and I go to school in Tennessee.
<rant> Sorry if I seem irritated.  I just got over a total hard drive crash in this computer that isn't even 2 years old.  I have drives that are almost 10 years old in my PC desktop..  The drive that came stock with my Macbook pro was a total piece of crap in comparison to the cheapest notebook drives at Best Buy.  Really Apple?? 5400 RPM 8mb Cache Hitachi drive?? *Pukes in mouth* </rant>

Sorry for the rant.  This is what happens everytime I have tried.  I actually have a booting Windows 7 partition on here already but it is barely running on the stock/generic windows drivers that are just there to get the OS through install.
I have an OSX 10.6 disk, but it is 10.6.0, and I wasn't even able to make that boot into the Mac installer when I installed OSX on the new hard drive.  I had to run my Macbook as a Firewire disk plugged into a Mac Pro and install it from there and update to 10.6.8.  I think this was because the 10.6.0 install disk doesn't have drivers for my 2010 revision of the Macbook Pro.  I doubt that the 10.6.0 disk has the right Windows drivers if it doesn't even have the right Mac drivers.

  • Boot Camp 3.0, Win XP and new Audio Drivers for MacBook Pro Core2Duo

I just installed the new drivers in Boot Camp 3.0 on my 2006 Core2Duo MacBook Pro. Before the update, my audio worked perfectly, but after the update, I have a lot of static sound coming from my speakers. I can hear the audio, but it sounds staticy, if that's a word.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Just in the process of trying it myself for audio problems after BC 3.0
    It worked.
My sound problems with BC 3.0 gone.
My problem was that there was no internal speaker sound on my MBP with the BC3 driver...only headphones, and no way to switch.

  • Need Vista 64-bit drivers for Satellite Pro P100

    Hello,
I have one question about Drivers for Vista 64bit version. I have a notebook Satellite Pro P100 and search in the drivers catalogue and find only a BIOS update for 64-bit systems.
But where can I find the Hardware drivers for 64-bit versions?
    Regards
    Mischa

The 4 GB RAM issue is a known issue at the toshiba helpdesk (yes I had it and called) it's due to a problem programming the BIOS to handle more then 3GB.
As for your drivers I can tell you in advance you can find everything except SD Card driver and the microphone jack in plug support driver.
I'm sorry I forgot where I found those but the rest is out there (you can also try installing 32-bit version for the most).
Ow and the BIOS - update for 64 bit doesn't work for me so don't count on it to much lol

  • MacBook Pro DVD Drive Bitsettings/Booktype

I have a MacBook Pro with a 'MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857D' DVD Drive and I am wanting to make changes to the Booktype when I burn a DVD. I have not been able to find a solution but below is a list of what I have tried:
    * Emulated Windows XP and tried making chages with IMGBURN.
    * Emulated IMGBURN under MacOSX using CrossOver Mac.
    * Tried looking for firmware updates.
Please help me solve this issue or put me out of my misery so if required I will go buy a new Pioneer 112D.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • I can't get Macbook Pro DVD drive to read my Windows 7 upgrade disk.

I have a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX 10.6.8.  I have been trying to upgrade the OS in my VMWare Virtual Machine from XP to Windows 7.  However, when I insert the upgrade disk, it just spins for a few minutes and then tells me the disk is a blank disk.  I  tried it with the drive tied to the VM XP OS, but that did not work and got the same result.  I then tried the disk in a PC I have and it seems to work fine there.  Also, I have tried other disks in my Mac drive (e.g. DVD movies) and they seem to work as well.  I am not quite sure where the problem is.  Any ideas?

This forum is for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not related to your question in any way.  I suggest you post your question on the VMWare Fusion forums.

  • MacBook Pro DVD drive issues

Hi there, recently I got a something strange problem with the DVD drive in my MacBook Pro 15" (2,2Ghz Intel core Duo, 10.5.8). Beginning with the error 0x80020042 first I tried cleaning the laser lens which worked for a few times, I also had errors like "... illegal access..", or the drive just could not read from disks, or the system does not recognize a blank disk was inserted. Using Toast to burn files to CDs it turns red indicating that there is not enough space on the disk even if the files are small, only a few kilobytes or megabytes large. Using the Mac OS I get the same message.
I'd appreciate your help and suggestions.
    Thanks.

maybe its hardware issue if you contact apple store or apple support they could help you

  • Using my MacBook Pro DVD drive to play movies on my HD TV

I just bought an HD tv and the Apple TV.  I have a MacBook Pro OS-X and was told that I could use its DVD drive to view DVD's on my HD  TV via the Apple TV.  I haven't found a way to do this.  Is it doable?  I have been able to view photos from iPhoto and play music from iTunes on the tv via the Apple tv.  I just don't see any options for the DVD drive.

In order to do that you need to use mirroring, which requires a recent Mac (2011 or later) running Mountain Lion. If using older hardware or OS you can use a 3rd party option like Airparrot. The native DVD player is blocked from mirroring so you would need to use something like VLC

  • Macbook pro dvd drive spits out fresh blank dvd

I have a macbook pro with Lion installed
I am trying to write a DVD, but everytime i put a blank DVD it spits it out after 15 seconds or so, doesn't even recognizes as a blank dvd.
This is the details of my dvd drive
    MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-868:
      Firmware Revision:          KB19
      Interconnect:          ATAPI
Burn Support:          Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
      Cache:          2048 KB
      Reads DVD:          Yes
      CD-Write:          -R, -RW
      DVD-Write:          -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
      Write Strategies:          CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media:          To show the available burn speeds, insert a disc and choose View > Refresh

A fine lense cloth (for cleaning eye glasses) wrapped around a flat piece of credit card shaped plastic gently inserted and brushed once to the left side seemed to capture plenty of dust from my late 2008 MacBook Pro's Superdrive. Now DVDs work again and stay in the drive.
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.

  • Vista basic or vista home premium sp1 for macbook pro

Ok so I got windows home premium sp1 today as i didnt think the basic would work, apparently it will. I am not certain if the home premium would work though because it has sp1. do i need one without it? i have yet to open the box so i can always return it.
All i really want bootcamp(windows) for is to be able to install and play video games that mac's are not able to. So basic would be enough for me yes? Thank you for any help.
EDIT: I have yet to open the windows vista home premium sp1 yet as well incause the vista basic will work(i dont want to spend more then i have to in order to get bootcamp to work just for a video game)

So I go to the city today, from the mac dealer I bought my MBP from, they assured me the XP home edition version they have would work, so go race over there (45min later) and pick it up, store was pretty much closed soon as i left. when i actually take a closer look i see it doesn't have the service pack required for the XP versions. So tomorrow gotta go back to return it I hate my life.
I know this is more less my fault for not looking further, but you'd think the dealer would know the requirements for the new operating systems and how bootcamp works. dfngsdkj
