Vista & iTunes Do Not Play Nice Together

I was recently forced to upgrade to Vista due to a computer crash. I loaded iTunes ver.7.1.1.5 (latest) and all my music etc. from my backup drive. Everything worked fine until i tried to sync my 5G 80gig video iPod. Every time I connect it Vista blue screens and I have to reboot both. I've tried everything i can think of and I've searched forums all over the globe and everybody says the same thing, 'yep, it's a problem, but there is no fix'. I've heard that there is supposed to be an iPod update coming out, but I don't see how that will help me because as soon as I dock Vista crashes....ARGHHH!!! This is ridiculous. Both Microsoft and Apple had to know that this was a problem so why would they release Vista when it doesn't work with the largest digital music service in the world. In the mean time my iPod is empty and I'm developing a severe case of road rage having to listen to the jerks on the radio. Oh but wait, there’s more! The video playback through iTunes (and QuickTime) is unwatchable. It just freeze frames while the sound runs perfectly so now I am unable to watch the season finale of Heros. Okay, enough poor me. Does anybody know anything about either of these problems? I know I'm not alone. Any advice or just moral support would be great. I should have bought a Zune. Oh god I didn't just say that....that's blasphemy.

OK, I figured it out... I too have a dv6000 with Vista and I have been trying to fix this terrible itunes video playback thing and this is what I found. For whatever reason the NVidia driver in the dv series doesn't play nice with Vista. They say that they are looking into it but have no response other than that. Somehow the data from the hard drive isn't fast enough. So, reading this I figured that if that REALLY is the problem that I could use a external drive and have the videos come from there, and Voila!! It works like a charm, no skipping, no stalling, no more blue screens. I hope this is helpful, I know what a pain this can be.
Let me know if this works for everyone else.

  • MacBook Pro and 27" Display not playing nice together

I'm having a rather strange problem with my Early 2011 MacBook Pro and my 27" Apple Display (Mini-Display port). They don't want to play nice together. The display will randomly/intermittently disconnect and turn black, then reconnect, sometimes after a second or so, but sometimes not for a good 10 seconds or more.
    - My MBP works fine on other monitors (Thunderbolt 27", 24" LG via DVI adaptor).
    - My wife's MBP works fine on this monitor.
    - Had a tech look at the monitor, his MacBook works on it fine too.
    - The combination of my MBP and this 27" Apple Display gives you the result shown in the video.
It happens quite frequently -- often enough to make working on this combination unbearable. But I have no clue as to what's going on here.
In "System Information" under "Graphics / Displays", the display not show up as connected to either the PCIe or Built-In graphics adapter when the 27" has turned black. When the screen is on, it shows up.
Here's a YouTube video of the symptoms.

I'm stumped. Does anyone have any ideas?

Your video shows the MacBook Pro display turning blue for a few seconds, several different times. This is an acknowledgement that a display is coming (or going).
Unencumbered by anything sensible, my diagnosis would be that you have a loose connection.
Mini DisplayPort cables can be diabolical. When inserting, you must make certain that essentially ALL of the metal end disappears inside the computer jack.

  • IDevices Not Play Nice Together

I have an iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and a new (bought today) Apple TV.
I'm having trouble getting them to work with one another.
The iPhone & iPad arenot showing up in iTunes (Windows) even though I've attached me via the cable and check Sync Wirelessly.
The AppleTV is not showing up either in iTunes - Home Share is enabled on both iTunes (Windows) and the Apple TV. (as well as the iPhone and iPad)
I can get the AppleTV to connect to the iPad, but not the iPhone. AirPlay Mirror is not available via the iPad however.
I've gone through all of the Knowledge Base solutions I can find, and still unable to resolve any of the issues.
I'm out of ideas. Any Help giving is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

  • Linksys WRTU54G-TM and Trendnet tew-631brp not playing nice together, HELP

Ok so, since getting the tmobile@home service I have been having nothing but issues with my setup.
My current config setup includes the Comcast Cable modem <to WAN port of> Trendnet tew-631brp <LAN to WAN port of> Linkysy WRTU54G-TM and the WRT set to bridged mode. WRT firewall disabled, Wifi Disabled, Main router is the Trendnet with Wifi-N enabled. No machines are hard wired to my routers, I use only the Wifi-N from my trendnet.
Now the internet works as expected, except when you go to use the VOIP phone. When you pick it up, the net connection drops out and the Trendnet router reboots.
I have tried making the WRT the main router and having the Trendnet be the secondary, I've turned firewalls off, I've added them each router to the DMZ and nothing nothing nothing will fix this issue. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I just tried adding the WRT as the main router and the 631 as the secondary router, and it still won't work. Would the NAT cause an issue when it's set-up this way as well? This is so confusing.

  • ITunes will not play songs

iTunes will not play any songs from my library. When I click on the song to play the title appears in the box as if it is going to play but the the bar does not move and then the title disappears and a bunch of lines appear.
When I play a video, movie or TV program the video plays fine, but no audio comes out.
Audio and video work fine in any other application and all the system sounds work fine. I can also play audio and video fine using Windows Media Player.
I have shut-down and restarted several times and even let the computer stay shut-down overnight, but to no avail. I have upgraded to the newest version of iTunes and QuickTime. I have also made sure I have the most current version of all audio and video drivers for my laptop. I have also update Vista to Service Pack 1. I also noticed that MS Silverlight also loaded, so not sure if this could be causing my problems.
Any help that anybody can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Finally was able to fix the problem. Here is what I had to do:
    1. Uninstall MS Silverlight
    2. Install all new Audio and Video drivers (even though they were already the newest versions I had to re-install them).
    3. Installed newest MS Windows Vista upgrade.
    4. Restarted computer
    5. Made sure all my audio settings were set to use the proper speakers.
    Now everything is working fine.

  • Time Machine & Apple Remote Desktop don't play nice together

Hi there. Running 10.5.4 Server on a headless Mac Pro 8-core Xeon.
Thought i'd see how well time machine works as an incremental backup solution for my server. I use ARD to access the server. When i enter time machine using ARD i get some buggy glitchy version of time machine with no timeline or clear indication of where the controls are. Utterly unusable.
Any tips as to how to get these two magical pieces of software to play nice together?
    in community,
    ~joel

When attempting to access Time Machine on a headless Mac over Apple Remote Desktop, a common complaint is that the GUI (graphical user interface) does not appear, though it does function if you guess where the buttons are.
To force the screen to redraw, just drag any file/folder from your local desktop into the Remote Desktop window, as if you were copying the file to the remote machine. You don't have to release the icon, but the screen should redraw with the Time Machine controls now visible and functional. Not all of the visual effects work, but you can browse past archives and perform restores with ease.
Keywords: Time Machine, ARD, Apple Remote Desktop, Headless, no monitor, no display, Mac Mini, Server
    Enjoy.

  • Purchased songs from Itunes STILL not playing on ipod mini

I read all the posts about this issue, of purchased Itunes songs not playing on ipod. I deauthorized the computer and all computers associated with the account. then re authorized them. I reset the ipod several times, and also restored the ipod. I reinstalled the itunes software. I changed the sync to manual. removed one of the purchased songs. reauthorized the computer, then manually added the song back. I renamed the song. I even tried with downloading the free song. Any other suggestions. It made me look bad when after all of this I still could not fix the users issue. Other than declaring it a HARDWARE issue, I thought there could be a registry setting with the authorizing that did not happen properly. Has anyone else experienced this issue , and NOT been able to fix it. It would really appreciate any advice. My only conclusion was hardware, and the user states they had already spoke with apple who declined to help.

It may be an authorization issue. Both iTunes and the iPod need to be up-to-date.
Usually, you need to play at least a part of songs purchased from the iTMS within iTunes to authorize them. They won't copy to your iPod until you do this.
How to transfer Purchased Music from iTunes to your iPod
    iTMS Song and Computer Authorization
If you've played & authorized them in iTunes and they still skip, try this. De-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then re-authorize it. You re-authorize it by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store within iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, and then the computer will be authorized again. Sync your iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play on the iPod once again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes.
If you are using the latest version of iTunes (6.0.4), then you need to make sure your iPod software is up to date also. Get the iPod Updater software, install it, run it and update your iPod.
When you have done this, authorize your music in iTunes by playing a few seconds of it within iTunes, re-sync your iPod, and it should transfer by whatever synching method you choose.
If the above 'standard' fixes did not help, then it's a bigger problem that I can diagnose...

  • After updating to windows 8.1 iTunes will not play video

I recently updated to Windows 8.1 but since i have my iTunes will not play video i previously downloaded from the iTunes store. The video will play in QuickTime without issue though, please help

sorry it's not my apple id. it's my icloud email/account. after i updated to ios 8.1.2 my icloud acct on my phone is wrong. it's using my old college email address instead of my current icloud account email. my old college email address *used* to be my apple id, but i changed my apple id to my gmail account a few months back. anyway i can't "sign out" or delete the icloud account bc it thinks my college email address is my icloud account and it  keeps asking for the password. so i'll type in the current password for my icloud account and it says it's wrong and i need to retry or change the password, which i've already done twice and nothing changes. probably bc its asking for the password associated with the college email address it thinks is my icloud acct.
i can access icloud on my desktop without a problem...   make any sense?  do i have to restore my phone now or is there a solution?  i've wasted the last 2 days trying to figure this out. i can't send or receive emails on my iphone bc of this. which really ***** for work.

  • I recently upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 4s, but now all songs purchased from iTunes will not play via my phone. Any idea how to fix this problem?

I upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 4s, after a few initial problems and two restores, everythings seemed to be working...until I went to play some music, all music loaded to itunes via CD's played, but ALL purchased music from itunes does not play...i click on the song and the screen flashes to the image then goes back to the list of songs, so the purchased music shows up...just does not play.  Can anyone help resolve this problem? Thanks!

here is an interesting thing: take the iphone and set lock screen to never. Now make an email with siri--be sure to activate her with call button. get to the body and get some text in there. then just stop talking. LOCK SCREEN APPEARS!!!!!! and of course you draft is gone.
There does seem to be a work around for some--maybe all these issues. Don't use the call button--use the buttons on the phone.
Siri seems to behave properly with scenerio above---sans call button. She does not go to lock.

  • HT1349 My songs in iTunes are not playing all the way through on my MAC or my iPod?

My songs in itunes are not playing all the way through on my MAC

Quicktime Player should already be installed on the Mac. If you transferred Quicktime from a VAIO it will not run on a Mac -- no PC software will without using a special interface.
Right click or control+click on one of the files, then > Open with Quicktime Player.
I already suspect that since these files will  not play completely on any of your devices that you have an incomplete download.
