Vista - Itunes - Photo Sync

I have a 5th generation IPOD and using Vista Home Premium. I have about 300 photos on my IPOD from when I was using Windows XP. I am trying to laod more photos and unable to. I can move them to the IPOD as data, but then I view them any thoughts for a solution? I just want to add more photos and not sync with my system.
Thanks
Joel

I can't sync photos, music or videos - somebody please help!
All items sync great with iTunes 7.3 including
calendar, music, video, etc. Everything but Photos.
I can't seem to get one single photo synced up with
the iPhone. I've tried resizing pictures down
smaller but that still doesn't work. Anyone else
have the issue?

  • What exactly does iTunes photo sync do?

    Using Win7.
I have iTunes set to sync photos with my iPhone. I have designated a folder called "iPhone" under "My Pictures" folder.  When I sync my iPhone the photos in Camera Roll do not go onto my computer.
I do realize that I am able to use other software to move the images from the iPhone to the computer - I can even use Windows explorer and just click and drag them. It would be nice if iTunes did that for me - like it sync's everything else.
So what is the purpose of iTune Photo Sync if it does not ingest the photos from my phone?
I read the manual, but to no resolution.
    Thank You,
    Joe

iTunes data is not synced. iTunes data is a transfer process only. The data that can be synced by definition is contacts, calendar events, notes, and Safari bookmarks.
It is called syncing for the masses to understand, just as most Windows users call anything harmful to their computer a virus - malware, spyware, and phishing scams are all viruses.
Importing photos/videos from a digital camera can involve more than transferring the data, and everything with iOS devices is centered around a Mac and Mac applications that can be used for this and rightfully so. I use iPhoto on my Mac for importing photos and video from a digital camera including from my iPhone and iPad 2, and for photo storage and management. iPhoto includes an option to delete imported photos/videos from a digital camera after the import process is complete including from the Camera Roll with an iOS device. I assume adding photo/video import functions from a digital camera could be added to iTunes, but there are already applications on a Mac and Windows that provide for this.
It wasn't confusing to me - namely because it is called a Camera Roll on an iOS device. Anything involving a camera involves an import process which iTunes does not handle with any other digital camera.

  • System freeze iTunes photo sync

    Hello,
Recently I've encountered an error that I was able to replicate a second time: My system crashes when I quit the automatic Photo sync (a subwindow of iTunes) with my iPhone 5s. It isn't a spinning beach ball, the whole system simply stops responding to anything.
What could be the cause? Both devices are this month's acquisitions and should be in top form.

While I haven't heard a solution to posts I've made to both Adobe and iTunes sites, I have found a manual workaround.
The catalog files that iTunes uses are of the format "catalog.pseXdb".
In my case, the new catalog is "catalog.pse13db" and the old is "catalog.pse9db". These files are found in catalog folders like: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\Elements 9 Catalog
    With iTunes and PSE closed,
    1) copy the catalog.pse13db file to the "Elements 9 Catalog folder.
    2) rename the old catalog.pse9db file to keep it and deactivate it
    3) rename catalog.pse13db to catalog.pse9db
iTunes will continue to use the older catalog file, but it now has new catalog contents.  The manual part is that this will need to be done prior to each time you want to sync new catalog content to your devices.
Somewhere around PSE version 7, the catalog file format changed, so this technique may not work for upgrades from about v7 upward.

  • Itunes photo syncing issues between laptop/ipad

I'm syncing photos on my laptop to my new ipad2 via itunes and randomly in each folder around 10% of the photos always come out corrupted with horizontal lines or even half the picture missing.  Have tried reinstalling itunes etc but still get random corruption issues.  Have managed to successfully import the photos if I save them to my camera and import via the camera connection kit but don't want to do that for the thousands of photos I have on my laptop.  Any ideas?

I have now managed to find the cause of the problem.  All down to a conflict issue between itunes and Zonealarm.  The solution is to go into program access in Zonealarm and ensure that the iTunes Photo Processor program is set to NO ENFORCEMENT for trust level.   An alternative is to temporarily stop Zonealarm, sync and then turn on Zonealarm back on.  If you don't do this, a number of the photos (and it appears to be at random) become corrupted.  Hope this helps anyone else running Zonealarm.

  • ITunes Photo Sync Problems

i am having problems getting photos to sync in ITunes. Everytime I ask it to sync photos,it starts "optimizing" the pictures.Next thing I know, my computer blue screens and crashes. I have tried to do this on 2 different Win Vista machines with the same results.Has anyoe encountered this? It would be nice to be able to do pics as the IPhone shoul

    Try here:
    iTunes: Unable to sync photos
Usually deleting the iPod Photo Cache Folder works. Note that if you sync via the folder method, make sure you dlete all the ifolders since :
The iPod Photo Cache stores the photos that are optimized for display on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The location of this folder depends on the syncing options you select. In iTunes, if you change the selection in the “Sync Photos From” pop-up menu, a new iPod Photo Cache folder will be created (and the previous folder will remain).

  • ITunes photo sync button causes crash

I'm using Windows XP and iTunes 7. I'm trying to add photos to my iPod Nano, and since the only way to do that is through iTunes, I'm kind of screwed. Here's why:
Whenever I click on the check box that would sync a photo folder to my iPod, iTunes just crashes. I've tried restarting everything, and tried restoring my iPod. Nothing seems to work, and I'm STILL on hold with tech support, and have been for about 10 minutes.
So if anyone can help with this problem, that would be awesome, because I'm pretty irritated at this point.
    Windows PC   Windows XP

OK so i got mine working, hope this helps..
1.Restore iPod to factory settings (if you don't mind wiping your iPod clean)
2.When it reconnects, Itunes will ask you if you want to automatically sync Music and/or Photos when you connect. I said no to Music but YES to Photos. (previously i said no to both)
3.Once setup is finished, click on your iPod in Itunes, and now if you go to the PHOTO tab instead of crashing when you click "Sync photos from" it is now already ticked, and you can then select a folder to import photos from the options on the right!
After all i tried to fix this problem all i had to do it seems, was to tell itunes to "auto sync photos" during the setup process.
    Hope this helps you!
    Please let me know!
Oh and sorry for the rough translation. I was so excited getting it all to work that I rushed this so i could get the info to you!

  • Photoshop elements 11 dropdown missing from itunes photo sync

since upgrading from photoshop elements10 to 11, i cannot now sync my photos to my apple tv  with photoshop
the dropdown tab in itunes is missing . any ideas on how to fix ?
i have uninstalled and re-installed photoshop elements and itunes but no luck .
    thanks

It's nice of them to do that, but could they not provide more information on what it is that we are supposed to do to make their application work? Again, the catalog file that iTunes should be reading is the same format as previously (you can actually open a catalog file that has been converted to PSE11 in PSE10 by changing the file extension). So the only real difference is the fact that PSE11 uses a different file extension (with the "11" in it). So it really should only be a matter of iTunes being updated to recognize files with this extension.

  • HT1766 iPod OS 5.1.1 and iTunes Photo syncing problems

I use to be able to sync my iPod to my computer but since I updated my iPod OS from 4 to 5.1.1, I lost the feature to copy pictures from PC to iPod using iTunes. Can anyone tell me why and how I can restore this feature?

  • ITunes photo-sync results in corrupted album-pictures on iPhone/ iPad

    Hey guys,
after restoring all my iDevices to iOS 7 last fall I've encountered the following problem: when syncing photo-albums from iPhoto to my iPhone/ iPad using iTunes, certain pictures of  an album (or even all of them) end up showing as grey squares with a "JPG"  sign in the middle:
I was hoping  the problem would be gone after installing iOS 7.1, which is why I waited this long before starting a discussion here, but unfortunately it didn't. So here I am, asking you guys for help. Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    Waske
FYI: I'm running OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 with all apps up to date.  All iDevices in question were restored using iTunes 11.1.5 and configured as "new" (no iCloud/ iTunes backup was loaded afterwards)

Are you able to view the photos in that album in iPhoto at full size?

  • ITunes photo sync with iOS 7.1 and OS X Mavericks (Aperture and iPhoto).

The iPhoto Library can be used by Aperture as well as iPhoto. This simplifies synchronization of photos between OS X Mavericks and both iPhone (IOS7) and iPad (IOS7).   After updating an IOS7.1 "Delete Imported Items ..." screen tells me the number of items successfully imported, the number of items previously imported, and offers the option of deleting or keeping the items.  Are there other capabilities that we can access on these mobile devices?

    Hi bigchad!
It sounds like you might be having an issue with your installation of iTunes on your Windows computer. I have an article for you that can help you troubleshoot this:

  • Better iTunes photo sync with Aperture

iTunes quite reasonably doesn't copy Rejected photos to an iOS device through iTunes.
I'd like to set the bar higher, and only have it copy (say) 1-star or better photos, so that I don't have to reject photos just to stop them appearing on my iPad. Is this possible, somehow?
The other issue is that even though a certain album is arranged by date, on the iPad the photos appear arranged by version name, which is not a useful order. If I move an image then move it back again, the order becomes Manual, and then that is transferred to the iPad - but that's a bit crude.

I have 50+ Projects... making a Smart Album for each will be too tedious for words.
It would be OK if didn't want to keep my photos arranged on the iPad too, but I do.
You can make one Smart Album, set the parameters the way you want, then duplicate it in all of your other Projects. Here's s tip on how to do that easily:
    http://aperture.maccreate.com/2010/02/28/smart-album-can-switch-reference-in-ape rture-3/
This is certainly helpful but still more painful than it needs to be. In order to get iTunes to only sync (or share to an AppleTV) these smart albums, I have to switch iTunes into "selected albums only" mode and manually add the new smart albums as I create them. Doable but unnecessarily tedious. I really just want to say "sync/share all my projects" but apply a filter.
The filter could be just rating based (e.g. "only photos that are 2+ stars" etc) or they could go all the way and support all of the same criteria that smart albums have. I would be happy with just the rating based filtering. Same for iPhoto, for that matter.
Alas, I hold no hope that this will be added anytime soon.

  • IPad2 and iTunes Photo Sync

I back up my old iPad to iTunes and then restored the files to my new iPad2.  Everything works perfectly, except my iPhoto (I selected a specific album) will not sync with my iPad2.  The error messages says the file cannot be found.  Any ideas? Thx CB

Try deleting the photo cache on your computer and then re-syncing

  • HT201313 iTunes photo sync check box missing

In iTunes under the tab to sync photos, the check box is simply gone.  I can't check anything to sync photos to my iPhone.  What do I do?

I have a newer version of iTunes than the one shown in the example picture on the help page so the icon is actually on the left side.  However, I can click on it and I have access to everything on my iPhone (music, videos, books, etc.) besides pictures.  I have the latest version of iPhoto and only recently started using iCloud so I must have photos that aren't on it yet.  Still, I cannot see any photo on my iPhone that I didn't take with the same iPhone camera, so even if my photos are on iCloud, I can't (or don't know how to) access them on my iPhone.
