Vista laptop no longer works with Google Hangout. I have tried several versions of Firefox from 16 to 19.

I have an HP DV9000 series laptop. I have used it with Firefox for google hangouts in the past, but with several updates, it no longer works. The built in webcam works with dedicated software but is not detected by the googletalk plugin. I have loaded several older versions of Firefox and none seem to work. Is this an issue with Firefox or the googletalk plugin? Thanks!

thanks, but it did not help. I have re-installed and reset firefox and googletalk. In the googletalk chat settings, the webcam and microphone are not recognized. The camera works fine with Youcam.

I just bought a new HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer. I have been unable to download the installation for wireless connection even though have had the assistance of Costco tech, HP tech and some advice from Apple. Because the system is MacOs 10.5.8 the error says it is incompatible, even though the product lists compatiblilty with 10.5, 10.6. I was advised 1 option might be to obtain Snow Leopard for installation, however am somewhat reluctant as the bo states 10.5 should work and Snow Leopard is 10.6, which is also listed as compatible. I am unable to get the printer to work even with USB cable. Too much time spent on this and I hate to start over with another printer because I'm afraid I might have the same trouble. Is Snow Leopard something I should get anyway? Help!

RESPONSES:
1)   When I set up my iMac, I did not transfer any data directly from my windows PC. I simply used the same iTunes login and account. I have access to all of the files via the "Purchased" section of the iTunes store. If I click "Download Previous Purchases" text, I can download ALL of the purchases I have ever made.
2)   I have the Apple TV 2, so good news, question answered. I thought maybe it was the Apple TV 1, but it is the Black model, so bam. Good response for you. Well the whole damned reply is an awesome response, just pointing out that one piece of awesome. I stated that it was an Apple TV 2, and yet you were still good enough to figure I could be mistaken, and provide me with knowleedge just incase.
QUESTIONS:
3)   So can my iMac not stream the data directly from itunes, without download? Apple TV can, but perhaps that is something among many things that maker it unique, and awesome.

I work in the computer support section for the Military. The only problem is we use Windows , lol. Well that and i've been gone for nearly 6 months on recover. I go back next month though I hope. Web of Trust no longer working with google and bing image searches

Hello All,
I have searched and searched but have not found an answer that matches my specifics. Any help would be appreciated.
I used to be able to do this but now I can no longer search and browse images on google or bing image search and have Web of Trust function. Here is how I am going about it.
What I use:
DuckDuckGo's annoymous google or bing image search link when I enter querries. Also, searching directly from Google's or Bing's image search page doesn't work with WOT anymore either.

I guess what I learned is that sometimes the best solution is to do nothing and wait for the problem to solve itself! Funny, this has never worked for me before.
WOT is now working for me but often for only the first few rows of images. That's cool that it is also working with bing images.

I used to be able to upload pictures to my photobucket account, that no longer works, can I go back to the old version of Firefox, or will this be fixed?

the add on is still available on photobucket, but not for 4.0, it means having to download, then upload, will the feature be redone so that it works with the new version?

Why don't you tell us what you did and why it didn't work? Start from File/New/Existing Mail Account, enter your details, click Continue, then immediately click Manual config. On the next screen enter these settings:
incoming POP server: pophm.sympatico.ca

outgoing SMTP server: smtphm.sympatico.ca
port: 587 (or try 25)

Why does'nt this new version work with Norton Ver 6? My old version of Firefox did!

My old version of Firefox worked perfectly with Norton anti-virus Version 6 just purchased. I updated at you request to the new version of Firefox which now claims that I have Norton 5.5 which is not supported. This makes no sense. My secure logins and auto password does not work any more and I want that protection through Norton. Please advise me.

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

When I go to google + I'm told my browser nolonger support google + but I have the latest version of firefox. What's wrong?

When I try to open google plus I get a message that say my browser no longer supports google plus. I'm then asked to download the latest version of firefox. But I already use firefox 5.o.1. I've download it and installed but the same thing happens again and again. I have no problem using any other google function, and I can open google plus in Internet Explorer. Norton safe search no longer works with google search

Once I updated to Firefox 31 Norton Safe Search icons no longer appear next to Google search results! They worked fine before. They work if I use a different search engine (such as Ask). They work fine with other browsers such as IE11 and Chrome. Only Firefox 31 has a problem! Note that I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Norton Internet Security, and all my software and hardware is completely up-to-date with latest versions and patches (I'm an IT professional).

That's ok. I've since checked it out on another Windows 8.1 machine and the same thing. Norton worked properly with 30 and as soon as I upgraded to 31 the "N" disappeared from Google and other searches. I ran all Norton and Windows updates, still no good. That makes 3 machines. Mozilla needs to fix this or else I'll stop using Firefox since the Norton feature is essential.

The scrolling function on my Toshiba laptop no longer works with the new version of Firefox.

The scrolling function on the touchpad of my laptop hasn't lost functionality in any other program save for Firefox. Is there a setting or tool that I am not using correctly?

I did delete the preferences & tried the cleaner before reinstall.
I have to get off this machine - have been at this for a good 8 hours - will be back at it tomorrow.

Using Lync with Google Hangouts

I am working with a government agency that uses a Polycom CX 5000 HD through
a Microsoft Lync System and am wonder if this could be used to run a google hang out video call? I am not a user of this system and and just being exposed to it but want to be informed as I go into a consultation to see what we can do with their existing system
to offer remote workshops to external users.
Any help you can offer or direction to resources I would greatly appreciate.

are able join meetings using the Lync Web App. When joining a meeting, anonymous users are first transferred to a waiting area called the lobby. Presenters can then either admit these users to the meeting or reject them.
Have a Lync user create a Lync Meeting and add you as a participant or presenter, you can connect with a web browser.

My iPhone no longer works with external speakers

Since upgrading to the 3.0 software, my iPhone (the original 2G model) no longer works with the speakers I have, or with my DVD/surround system. Previously it worked fine! Has anyone else experienced this. I'm so disappointed, as I use the speakers/surround system a lot to listen to music.
If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it

OK, I just clicked restore to backup in itunes and after restoring the iphone, it seems to be connecting and working through the speakers now. Whew!
