Vista network driver (winpe 2) for thinkcentre m73? (intel I217-V)

Is there no Vista network driver for the Thinkcentre M73 (Intel I217-V lan network)? It's for Altiris 6.9 Winpe (2).

As far as i know, there is no Windows Vista Network driver for the Intel I217. I have tried to find the vista driver and even installed a WIN7 driver on Ghost Boot Wizard for WinPE 2.0 and i still cannot connect to any ghostcast sessions.

Mapped network drive appears empty for all users on one computer

We have several network drives mapped via a batch file at log in. On one particular Windows 7 computer one of these drives maps but appears empty. Manually mapping to the drive and assigning a different drive letter makes no difference but manually
mapping by entering the IP address allows viewing and accessing the contents.
The malfunctioning network drive is also using Hosted BranchCache. The following settings are set in local group policy:
(\Network\BranchCache)
Turn on BrancheCache - Enabled
Set BranchCache Hosted Cache Mode - Enabled - <servername>
Configure BranchCache for network files - Enabled - 0
The servers involved are running Windows Server 2012.
I am at a loss here and will appreciate any suggestions.

With Offline Files disabled the contents of the mapped drive are visible and accessible. Unfortunately, Offline Files must be enabled for BranchCache to work.
Looking in the Event Viewer at “Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\OfflineFiles\Operational” I can see that the mapped network drive transitioned to slow link during high latency but has never transitioned back.

Network drive volume name for same folder by multiple users

I am using a 1TB USB hard disk attached to a ASUS RT-AC68U wireless router as network drive. There are multiple user accounts created on the same MacBook Air and they need to access the same folders on the network drive. For example, we have folder called "iTunes" created on the network drive.
The following steps resulted in some problems encountered.
Step 1: When user1 mounts the iTunes folder as a network drive, the general info shows:
General:
Kind: Volume
Server: smb://rt-ac68u/iTunes
Name & Extensions:
iTunes
Step 2: When user2 mounts the same iTunes folder as a network drive, the general info shows:
General:
Kind: Volume
Server: smb://rt-ac68u/iTunes
Name & Extensions:
iTunes-1
Question: Why does OS X assign "iTunes-1" as the name of the same network folder on the network drive for user2? Is there a way to retain the same original folder name for user1 and user2, such as "iTunes", so that it can be access as "/Volumes/iTunes" by both these users?

That's correct, I'm sorry I am wrong.
I do remember another defaults write option for detaching network drives on 'switch to loginwindow' because I needed the same thing - eventually I gave up & disabled fast user switching, it reduced the amount of issues for the clients. Sorry for confusing the two.
Have you considered mounting it via a startup script. At the moment it is failing because the path exists when User2 mounts it. If you try a script (at the level of the system) it should mount only once. Obviously sticking usernames & passwords into a script is not the best for security.
I think this issue is what NFS mounts can overcome, but I haven't used them for so long. They should be able to mount with no user interaction, but they are less flexible with permissions IIRC.
If your NAS supports NFS look at that, I think you both need to remove the user as the agent that mounts the disk. If the OS does it once (& permissions are correct) it should remove the 'diskname-1' issue.
When it works you end up with volumes in /Network/diskname.

MS apps fall apart when you have disks mounted like this, it's a consequence of MS apps using an older way to represent filepaths.

Erasing Time Machine hard drive after formatting for both PPC and Intel

Ok, I made a mistake. First I formatted a Western Digital 500 gig hard drive for both my wife's PPC G4 laptop and my own Intel MBP laptop, so we could both use Leopard's Time Machine for backing up to the same drive. That wasn't my mistake though, it's been working fine. I formatted my partition using the GUID option and hers using the Apple Partition Map option (I think that's what they are called, I'm going from memory).
Here's my mistake: I needed some extra space to store some files and read that I could Re-Partition the drive without erasing anything using Disk Utility. Sounded great. I first tried to partition my wife's partition, since she had more extra space, but then I realized that was a bad idea since I had formatted her partition with using the Apple Partition Map, so I stopped and then tried to Re-Partition my side. It worked for about an hour: my Time Machine backup drive appeared, my new partition appeared, but then... her partition disappeared! Usually whenever one of us plugs in the hard drive using the firewire cable, both partitions appear, Time Machine Goes to work, and that's that. When we need to disconnect from the drive we have to eject both drives, but no big deal. Now her drive isn't appearing.
So... I tried to repair it, no good. Tried to erase both her partition and mine (to just start over): no good. I can't do anything to either of these partitions now, from either computer. Tried everything I could think of in Disk Utility, from both computers. Won't erase, won't re-partition. Not a hardware issue: it all started when I did this stupid Re-Partition. Help!!!!
I want to erase the drive and start over. Can anyone advise??

First, let's talk about the various partition schemes. A partition scheme applies to the entire drive. Specifically, these are different maps written to the drive, within which volumes are created. As such, this is an either/or thing; your drive is partitioned using either the GUID Scheme, or the Apple Scheme, not both.
"Live" partitioning or re-sizing of existing volumes is supported only under the GUID Partition Scheme. If the drive wasn't using this scheme, you would not be able to re-size as you were attempting to do. Even re-sizing under the GUID scheme requires that the drive's maps and directory structures be in very good shape, if it is to work without hitch.
Are you absolutely certain that there isn't some physical problem with the drive, or with its interface (cables and such)? If it is operating normally, you should be able to re-partition it without problems. In DIsk Utility, select the drive (not a named volume that will appear indented underneath), then click the "Partition" tab. If you wish to be able to re-size volumes later, you must choose the GUID scheme from the "Options..." dialogue sheet. Set appropriate sizes for the volumes, then click "Apply." Doing so will destroy all current volumes and data on the drive.

you really have only one choice, Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium but you can save by buying the System Builder edition.

Network drives ejecting for no reason

I am setting up the office network and a few of the network drives keep ejecting for no reason. It's on a MAC/Windows network, and the Raid is a MEDEA brand RAID system.

That would be either a Server and/or Router setting. The clients can only reply, (or not if they don't understand).
About the only thing you could do on yours would be to maybe make a New Location just for this, then try Gnarly's fine tip of an all off Location to help reset everything...

PC network drive OK for iPhoto Library?

I use my MacBookPro on my wife's home PC network. I would like to store my photos on an external drive on the network. Do I need to have an Apple-formatted disc on the network, or will the PC network drive be OK for my iPhoto Library?

It should be a Mac formated drive - iPhoto has problems with PC formated drives - and you do not want a PC mucking around in the iPhoto library - you will corrupt the library and lose things

X240 Network Driver issue with Windows PE

HelloI am working with OSD deployment in a big organisation. We are using SCCM 2012 SP1 to deploy new computers with our own image and applications. The new Thinkpad X240 is causing a big problem at the moment since we do not seem to be able to find an appropriate Ethernet network driver for the built-in Intel ethernet interface that is working in winPE 4.0. This is what happens.The computer boots, I press the F12 key, the computer presents a list of bootable devices, I choose the ethernet NIC.The computer PXE boots - it recieves an DHCP address from our server, downloads boot.wim, downloads the boot.winPE.boot.wim file and then starts winPE on the X240. It gets to "Preparing Network Connections", hangs there for a while, and then it reboots.If I use the F8 option and run ipconfig, it reports "Windows IP Configuration" and nothing else. If I run /renew it says "The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation". There seems to be no NIC available to winPE to start the Task Sequence with.I have downloaded the Windows 8 x64 Network driver and the Windows 7 x64 enterprise driver package Network driver from Lenovo, for this model and injected the Network drivers in the WinPe boot file. Neither of these drivers is working with the Network Interface in winPE. We do not have any problems with any other models, they all install with our SCCM 2012 SP1. Hello, I experiencing the strikly same situation with the same configuration :- SCCM 2012 SP1,- SCCM 2012 SP1 Boot Image x86 4.0,- Lenovo X240,- Drivers Lenovo SCCM package for Windows 7 (32-bit) http://support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/downloads/ds038819- Task Sequence W7x86. No problem when deploying an adaptated Task Sequence with Lenovo X250. However, WinPE don't allowing the network adapter to get a TCP IP configuration when deploying with Lenovo X240. To resolve this situation, do you use :- the standard boot image in the Windows 8 DVD or a customized one with Windows ADK ?- your boot image is this a x86 type or x64 ?- In case of a customized Boot Image, have you, please, some advice to give to use Windows ADK ? Mounting Network Drives Without Windows Opening

I have 3-4 Networked drives that automount for my users when they login, but whenever they login it opens up a window for each of the mounted drives. Any way to prevent this? I've tried marking "hide" in system preferences for them in login items, but that made no difference.

I am trying to run a computer on which to host installers for a schools network. The computer that i have all the installers on is partitioned into 3 parts: a system partition, a partition for the installer programs, and a partition for filemaker serving. I need to be able to connect to the computer through the network and access the installers. I don't want people logging on to access the home directory of the user account that they are using to connect to the install volume. I would really like to be able to tell it when people log on from another spot on the network to just mount the installer partition nothing else. I am aware that os 10 defaultly mounts just the home directory when you access a name on that computer from another local.
I hope this is enough information.

Time Machine and Iomega Home Network Drive (error 45)

I purchased and installed a Iomega 2TB Home Network Drive today primarily for usage with OS X and Time Machine.
I tried to create a Time Machine backups from two different computers and both returned the error
The backup disk image "/volumes/backups-2/"mymacname.sparsebundle" could not be created (error 45)
I would love some guidance and how to over come this issue.

Project Settings on Network Drive

Hi Folks,
I just got my Buffalo Link Station and I came up with an FCP-question.
In order for me to access my projects from all my computers in my network I wanted to copy the "Final Cut Projects" Folder to the shared drive. Will that chance the performance of FCP in any way? I know that I can't work in one project from two computers, but that won't be the problem.
Just wanted to know if there are any problems with running the projects off a network drive.

I just wanted the project settings on the network
The project's settings are part of the project file. You can store the project file on a network drive, but it would be better to copy it to the computer you're working on or on the external drive that the media is stored ... since you'll have to have that drive connected to the working computer anyway.

RMAN Backup to external network/drive on Windows environment

Hello, I have been searching quite a while in many different documents, but I still haven't found a clear understanding on the following subject:
Is it possible to have in a Windows environment a backup strategy which writes these backups to an external network/drive? As for example:
CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '\\ext_server_name\backups\%d_ora_df%t_s%s_p%p';
I am aware that this type of backup functions under Unix and Linux environments, nevertheless I would like to do this also under Windows.
Is there a possible way of doing this? And if there it is how can I achieve this, or where can I read about doing this in this way?

Problem: Cannot read key table. The key table that has been extracted must be readable by the user the oracle server process runs as.
Action: On a UNIX system, check the file permissions with ls -l and use chmod as appropriate. This can also be an issue on Windows NT with an NTFS file system. Use the file explorer and change the security setting for the file as needed.

How can I see my network drive from time capsule on windows vista pc?

I connected my Time Capsule 2tb to Windows PC and do not see the Network Drive for TC. I can see TC on my wireless MacProBook, but cannot see TC drive on the pc. What can I do on the PC to find Time Capsule's drive?

From the Mac as it is easier to use.. open airport utilty and go to the disks, file sharing page. turn on the guest account.. give read write access.. and make sure the TC is in the correct workgroup or type in the work group name.. update the TC.
In vista.. Open windows explorer.. in the address bar type \\ip\
IP meaning the IP of the TC. . wait.. waiting wait.. windows scratches its bum.. thinks some more.. will finally kick up a username and password request.. type in whatever you need. Voila.. TC appears.

HP Photosmart C5580 , I need a network driver for windows 7 64 bit.

this is the only driver supplied by HP for my printer and Windows 7 64bit :

as you can see it is listed as "NonNet" and as it is such I am unable to print from ANY other computer in my house , I have been trying o solve this for months , Complete reinstalls of drivers (hundreds of times) and complete reinstalls of Operating systems , this will not work.
(also , the only OS's supported under this drivers listing are the Windows 7 family only , could this be the problem?)
What I have running now:
Main PC , Windows 7 64bit ( the printer is installed here with above and only driver , all software and buttons work and prints as it should)
XP MCE Laptop (sees the printer , installs it , shows it as ready , will NOT print)
Vista Ultimate 32bit ( sees the printer , installs it , shows it as ready , will NOT print)
Vista Home Pro (sees the printer , installs it , shows it as ready , will NOT print)
I am at a total loss other then this driver just is not right , maybe because its not a network driver?? I don't know but I am out of things to try , I have tried adding the port , finding the printer through the ip yada yada on all the PC"s , nothing works

I'm not on a wireless netowrk , I have a fully wired network...still no printing (from other computers) if the C5580 is hooked to my Windows 7 64Bit PC
I had to put the C5580 printer and drivers on one of my Vista PC's (in another room) and now all the PCs (even the windows 7 64bit) prints to that pc , the ONLY problem with that is I need that printer/scanner on my Windows 7 64 PC and need the other PCs to print to it , because I need the scanner and software in here.
