Vista SP1 does not show up in Windows Update

I am not having any luck with Vista SP1 showing up in Windows Update. I have installed all other updates (both critical and optional), including all device drivers. I have also attempted to download SP1 directly from Microsoft, but when I attempt to run it, nothing happens - no error messages or anything. I am running Vista Business Edition.
I am using Parallels, but am under the impression that I should not attempt to install SP1 from that virtual environment, but using Boot Camp instead. If it matters, I do not see the SP1 update while running in the virtual environment either.
Anyone with similar problems? Thanks in advance for your help!

Though it was done via W.Update in this V.Ultimate a few weeks ago, a friend with V.H.Prem. has not had update. The included URL's info. I got by Google

Mapped Drive B:\ to a network share but does not show up in Windows Explorer.

I mapped drive B: to a network share but it does not show up in Windows explorer. I can go to the drive by typing b:\ but is not visible in explorer. But if I login as local admin it shows up in windows explorer. Any suggestions?

Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
Disconnect the mapped drive and map it again.
Ensure the user is using an administrator account; or change another user account to have a try.
Create a shortcut for a share folder and see if it will disappear.
In addition, it would be helpful for future troubleshooting if you could help to collect the following information:
Which method did you use to map drive?
Was there any error message in the Event log? If so, please provide the detailed information.

Ipod does not show up in Windows or Itunes! tried everything!

Here is the problem:
This is a new problem. Ipod worked fine on this computer until recently.
Ipod 5th gen does not show up in My Computer or Itunes.
It seems that it happend after I installed the latest update to Itunes.
What is happening:
When Ipod is plugged into my USB (the same one I always used before) it never shows up in my computer or itunes and always says "Do Not Disconnect" never stops!
What have I tried:
I plugged it into my friends laptop! It worked fine. Window found it.
I then used updater on it
I did the 5 r's over and over again. Nothing
I have reinstalled Itunes and tried that a few times
I tried different USB ports, nothing
I tried putting other items in my USBs and they work fine
IPOD just refusses to be seen on this computer again.
Any ideas? Thanks. This comp has my library and it is the one I use daily.

Thanks! But I actually figured it out! Right after I said something about the driver, I went into device mangager. Sure enough even though it did not show up as a drive letter the device manager said is was installed and working.
So I deleted the device out of device manager. Restarted and plugged it in. Although I go some weird error. It found the IPOD and now Itunes sees it.
I believe that killing the process would have done the same thing as you stated.
Thanks to all for taking the time to answer these issues. It beats the apple store or tech support.

ITunes 9.1.1 does not show up in Software Update

I am aware that iTunes 9.1.1 is availible for download at Apple's website, however for some strange reason iTunes always alerts me to upgrade to 9.1.1 but when I open Software Update it says that "Software Update doesn’t have any new software for your computer at this time." I am currently running iTunes 8.2.1 if that helps any, and I would just like to know why the newest version does not show up in my Software Update and if there is anything that can be done to fix this.

NWindows Vista 64 does not Show "Speaker" on X-Fi Fatal1ty / no soundR

Im having some issues on my X-Fi and windows vista 64 bit.
A few days ago, updated to the newest drivers on creative site and everything was working fine. Went to have some sleep and when i turned my computer ON again, i was surprised to get no sound at all.
On control Panel output sound devices it only shows SPDIF Output and Internal Aux Connector. There was a "SB X-Fi Speakers " device before, which was the system default, but i cannot manage windows vista to shown it again. I removed the X-Fi drivers and all creative related programs and reinstalled it all again and even installed the old x-fi drivers but the windows still does not shown the "speakers" output device.
Got stucked with only SPDIF Output and internal aux connector.
As i said, everything was working fine till this weekend. No new applications were installed or removed and the X-Fi still work over windows XP, so i guess the board is ok.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. (Sry for any grammar errors, but english is not my st language)

MB Asus p5n-sli (on board sound is disabled on bios)
CPU intel core 2 duo 3 ghz

Nice of them to remove DTS decoding without mentioning it on the packaging. Thats some shady marketing.
However, the optical input still doesn't work even when using a non DTS/DDS source. However, if there really is no sort of DTS/DDS anyways, I think I may return the card regardless.
Have any suggestions for a relati'vely cheap optical input device? I don't really care if its external or another I/O panel. I may just use my old x-fi and some sort of panel if I can find a decently priced alternati've. I don't really plan on buying another x-fi if this truly is the case, as it will probably be annoying to find one of those model numbers floating around at a decent price. :smileyindifferent:

DVD-ROM created in DVDSP does not show files in Windows

Hello,
I created a DVD-ROM in DVD Studio Pro 4 with the purpose of having a working DVD and also have additional files in that same disk. It all works fine in a Mac; I can watch the DVD, and I can also access the additional files (one .pdf and one .mp4) from the Finder. The DVD also works fine in any DVD player.
However, when I put the disk on a Windows computer, I can only watch the DVD movie, but the additional files DO NOT appear in Windows Explorer. If I open the dvd drive on a Windows computer, there's only the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, and nothing else.
Does anybody have an idea of what's going on here? PLEASE HELP.

This is an m2v file playing on the windows machine. Of course I would have preferred to run with a mac, but the end display software does not run on a Mac.
Windows Media Player, using the commonly(?) installed Klite Codec Pack which includes and mpeg2 decoder, shows it as having a length of 6:38.
VLC will play it as well, but shows not timecode on a windows machine.
The whole movie is there and I can scrub until the end in WMP. In fact Windows Media Player will play it to the end. And as it hits the end, the timecode should show 10:00 minutes, but it does not, it shows 6:38. On a Mac it shows 10:00 minutes
The end movie is to play in software (Windows Samsung's Magic Info Pro) that loops when the end time code is reached. Which it thinks is 6:38. The only problem is that it loops at 6:38 of the original movie which is not the end of the movie.
Sounds like a relativistic spacetime problem.
Before I get slammed for asking Windows related questions -- I put this in the compressor forum to see if there was some compressor setting I was not enabling, or some tweak that I could do to make an m2v file windows friendly.

Files copied as .lnk files to usb and does not show up in Windows

When I copy files from the MBP to a USB disk, instead of copying the files as is, the Mac converts the files into a .LNK file, which then shows up as "shortcuts" rather than the copied file in Windows. Why is this?

Master Password Feature: After sometime (10-15 min.) the drop down list for the field on any site does not show; opening new window (not refresh or new tab) drop down appears.?

I manage a ton of accounts for different customers suing the same login pages (GoDaddy, WordPress, etc.) I use the Master Password Feature to help keep track of the many variants in logins and passwords.
After some unknown period of time, even closing the page tab so a new page session is started at the remote server, Firefox does not provide me with the usual drop-down selection list of the previously used login names. However, if I open a new FF window (file/new window) from the menu bar, the drop down becomes available.
How can I refresh the original window session in FF or change the timeout length?

Well, you said LOV...that might mean you are using JDev 11g. Are you? If so what technology stack are you using?
Assuming you are using JSF (?) you might be "backing" your list component in the application scope...but that is not likely.
If you are using ADF/BC on your business component level, you can clear your view object from which you are querying the possible values of this list...unless your you have made a method to compile this list...in which case you know what you are doing...so that is probably not the case.
Essentially you want to requery the VO upon which your LOV is based...unless you are using JPA or something...and then I know "requery" is not the right word...is it?

Macintosh HD does not show up in Windows 7 bootcamp

I recently decided to transfer some things over to my hardrive, which is NTFS and needs to be used with Windows. This hasn't been a problem before now as i would just restart into Windows 7, plug in the harddrive, access the Macintosh HD from Windows, and transfer whatever it is i need to. This was not possible when i tried this today. When i went to look for he Macintosh HD it is not showing up at all in Windows 7. Im not sure what happened between the last time i tried this and now. The only thing that i can think of is possibly one of the new updates from Lion may have done this. Anyways hopefully someone has had the same issue and might be able to provide some insight. HT1481 ipod shuffle 2nd generation, does not show up in window when plugged into itunes. Also, does not charge(no light comes on).

I have a ipod shuffle (2nd generation) that won't light up when plugged in to the power adapter. I have only used it a few times since I purchased it years ago. Also, when I plug it into my computer with itunes running, it isn't recognized at all, as in nothing happens when I plug the usb cable with ipod attached and on to it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you sure she has a Shuffle? You mentioned a Sad Face.. that would indicate that the iPod has a display, which a Shuffle does not.

After installing Windows 10 (and having no particular issues with the installation), LSC won't leave me alone about needing to run Windows Update. But when I click the Launch button provided, nothing happens. LSC is also recommending I update drivers and things, but the link provided to the Lenovo website also doesn't work. I had to run Windows Update and find the updated drivers on the Lenovo site myself. I happen to have a G505s, but the issue is obviously not restricted to one model.

Maybe a Lenovo server is down. Check again later or tomorrow.
Of course it might be that your firewall or other protection software is blocking the application from communicating with the Lenovo server...
