You'll see Evaluation Copy text above speaker/time in taskbar on second startup after you install the service pack. DreamScene hides it but I could not find it in registry to blank out.
Also, the Evaluation Copy text may remain during the first restart after you uninstall the service pack. However, this text does not appear after the next restart.

I believe the most awaited iOS update ever, iOS 5.0.2, will release this week (probably Wednesday). As of iTunes (photo below), it will check for an update on 1/11/12. I hope this will fix the battery problem in the iPhone 4S.

Apple Mobile Device Service has stopped working. Vista SP2, iTunes 10.5

Hi there. I've been having an issue syncing my iPhone to iTunes. Here's a description of the problem:
-With an up-to-date Apple Mobile Device Service, error windows constantly pop-up saying that it has stopped working. If I close the error window, another one pops up fifteen seconds later.
-If I plug my iPhone into my computer, it is not recognized in iTunes, because Apple Mobile Device Service is not running.
-This error does not occur on my desktop PC, so I have been able to sync my iPhone by loading all of my files onto a USB and transferring them onto it. However, I would much rather not.
Here are the steps that I have taken:
-Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 10.5 with firewall off
-Individually uninstalled and reinstalled the Apple Mobile Device Service with firewall off
-Stopped and Restarted the Apple Mobile Device Service in Administrative Tools -> Services
-Extensively searched the internet for solutions
-Replaced Apple Mobile Device Service for iTunes 10.5 with Apple Mobile Device Service for iTunes 10.1 (This worked PARTIALLY. The error windows have now stopped popping up altogether, but I cannot sync with iTunes because the Apple Mobile Device Service is out of date. It asks me to update it, I agree, and I get the Apple Mobile Device Service that spawns error windows and still does not allow me to sync my iPhone.)
I am running Windows Vista SP2, and iTunes 10.5. My Internet Security suite is AVG Internet Security 2011. My iPhone is running iOS 5.0.0. Here is a full report of the error:

Just a shot in the dark, but have you downloaded any program from Megaupload, like MegaKey? If so then that is your problem. I had been having the exact same problem for the past 2 weeks. I couldn't figure out what it was and tried everything that you have.. Then was on a board and someone mentioned Megakey. Having tried everything else, I uninstalled the program and reinstalled the current ITunes and AMDS. My Ipad and Iphone connected with no problem.

Problem to connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 at Vista sp2

Hi guys, good day... NEED RESCUE!! SOS!! Hmm.. i have trouble been 1 weeks trying connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 on window vista sp2. Actaully im very new at Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 but i got a project is going to build up system database and i figure out Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 can use free so i just chows these appication to be my project. I been search around internet and there is several things i was found about the connection but i has try and tried still it wont work out.
Things i found and learned
Oracle
1. I have download Oracle 10g XE and installed in my windows vista sp2.
2. I notice the Oracle Developer Tools is needed for VB2010 (To add reference 'Oracle.DataAccess'). So i was downloaded ODT11beta and installed

1. Im notice in my netbook xp home sp2, before i install ODT11beta my sqlplus look fine thought cmd but after i installed ODT11beta its same problem with my Vista sp2 now. Get error ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error :( I tried uninstall ODT11beta again and restart its work fine again. Which i really dun understand. Izzit the version ODT11 is not suitable for 10g xe? And i dunno this problem is related with my connection between oracle 10g xe and vb2010 or not. So confuse@@

Is the current version of Firefox 27.0.1 a "regular version" or is it still the beta version? I had a new operating system installed on February 13th, and the version downloaded was version 27. Only having one problem, and that is blocking one cookie. I have never used a beta version and only want the regular version.
Need to know if the version as of Feb. 13th is the regular version. I have no way of finding out which version it is. Thank you for any help with this question.

Well, is there a chance to get the 10g Database for Linux this week?? Oracle said 10g Software will be out this year... that would be great because I am on holidays at the moment and this is exactly the very correct time to learn...

I was talking to an Oracle rep last month and I joshed them about this. Basically, Oracle perceives no great demand from its customers for the 10G database. There are a lot of customers out there who are still running 8i (consider the posters to this site): if these people haven't made the transition to 9i in the last two years they are hardly likely to be gagging for 10g.
Oracle have released the 10G software for which there is customer demand - App Server (because 9iAS is a bag of spanners) and JDev (because Java is a fast moving environment and there's lots of new, sought-after functionality in the new version).
But Oracle's database software, even at 8i, is both highly stable and richly featured. The introduction of Regular Expressions and the MODEL clause for SQL might excite us technical types but it's not much of a business case. Apparently most of the companies that want the self-managing functionality are in the Beta test and so have it already.
In short, 10G database is unlikely to see the light of day before the end of February.

CS-15 and Windows Vista SP2

Hi,
I´m wondering if it is possible to connect to internet with the CS-15 usb modem when I´m using Windows Vista SP2? It hasn´t been any problem when installing the modem and it gets contact with the 3G net too.
The problem is that I can´t connect to internet. When I´m trying I get the message "No available connection profile". When I go to options/settings/connections in the Nokia Internet Modem software there is the same "No available connection profile" message too. If I try to create a new profile I get the message: "The name is invalid: (connection name)"
I have tried every possible solution I have thought of and that I have find on different forums on Internet with no result. When I tried the modem on my parents computer with Windows 7 it worked just fine!
Because of all this I think that the CS-15 modem isn´t compatible with Windows Vista SP2. Does someone now if this is the case, and is there any update available to get it working with Windows Vista SP2? I have to get a solution soon because i just trying the modem out, and if I don´t get it working within a few days I have to return the modem back to the seller.

Secondly, is there any known workaround? I've found some of the web that extended the FileSystemView, but when I attempted one of them, it kept *.lnk files from appearing the Drop Down menu, but if I clicked on one in the window of the chooser, it broke with the same error.
The only reason I ask for a work around, is my employeer is not the fastest about updating the JRE allowed on the network/machines, so I may be stuck with 1.6.0_22(b02) for a while.

Oddly answer when asking about Win.Vista 64bit beta 2 driv

Heard about someone that said that the drivers will come to the beta2, but i don't know if that is true, beacuse i mailed them a few times and at last i got this answer:

I think they mean that the drivers won't get out to the beta 2, but i donno if the drivers will be realesed as someone said. I may be wrong, but don't get mad at me, beacuse i only telling you others what i've been told!... :smileyvery-happy:

Tech Support does not get information regarding pending driver releases nor do they work with Beta releases and drivers. This advisor should have referred you to the Vista Knowledgebase article regarding release dates which should be updated soon for Beta 2.
I cannot comment on Beta 2 driver release dates, but it is my understanding that beta drivers are indeed in development.

Might buy a macbook this week

i've posted several questions on here recently, and first off i'd like to thank those who have helped me out. I have a few more questions I'd like to sort out before I go and buy a macbook (might go this week).
a) when is the new version of mac os x being released? is there a point to buying a macbook with the current os when a new one is going to be released soon? how much do they charge to upgrade?
b) bootcamp... i need to run autocad on my notebook, so i will be using bootcamp. have there been a lot of issues with is functioning properly? is parallels any better?
c) if i typed up a word document on my pc and sent it to a mac, would they be able to open it, and vice versa?
d) i cant decide if i want to go with the 1.8 or the 2.0 processor... i worry that if i go with the 1.8 i'll need to burn something to a dvd and not be able to... if i saved a file from my mac onto a memory stick and then tried to burn it onto a dvd thru my hp laptop, would that work?
e) should i wait for all the bugs (heat, mooing, whining, etc) to be worked out before buying a macbook? i know basing my purchase on what i read here isnt entirely accurate because this is a support forum, and those who aren't having problems wouldnt be posting on here. are the majority of the macbooks functioning properly?
again, any help would be much appreciated... i'll probably head to the apple store this week to buy one if i'm 100% convinced.

No one knows for sure when Leopard will arrive. I would suspect its still a few months off though. (we aren't really meant to speculate about such things here. http://www.macrumors.com is one place where you can pick up the gossip on such things. )
Is there any point in buying one now? Yes, of course. The current verson of OSX (Tiger) is a very capable operating system indeed.
What will it cost? Again its not really an answerable Q at present. Major Apple upgrades normally cost the regular retail price of buying the system outright. A full install of Tiger at present sells for $129 US. Intermediate upgrades (ie OSX 10.4.5 to 10.4.6 etc) are free.

When you say "autocad, do you mean "AutoCad" or just a CAD program in general, Beth? There are various very good CAD programs available for use under OSX. Its a bit early to tell what the score is on BootCamp versus Parallells for this sort of thing. A great site for relevant information, though, is http://architosh.com/

Yes, you could use a memory stick to transfer things. Of course, you can still burn files up to CD sized capacity on the base model of the MacBook, so a memory stick will only give you a little more space. There are other options here, though, for much larger files. You can network the two computers quite simply, either wirelessly or through ethernet. You could use a portable Hard disc drive to transfer stuff. You can even use an iPod. You can also add a cheap external DVD burner to the MacBook for use in the office if you wish. A cheap external burner will actually be much faster and more than the drive installed in the "upper level" MacBooks.
A built in DVD burner in a notebook can be useful, but, regardless of brand, they are almost invariably slower, and more limited in format, than external burners, or the drives fitted to desktops.
If money is tight , especially if you want to use CAD, I would be maximising RAM at the expense of the DVD burner or faster CPU.

For what its worth, Beth, I've been using these boards for quite a few years, and I think the "problem" level being reported here is really pretty typical of that we see with any new or upgraded model. Whenever a new model (even an upgrade) comes out, we see a bit of a bump in posts (often at least in part because people haven't yet become familair with some aspects of their new computers). I don't think its indicative of a high level of issues at all.
As you hint, this place is like the emergency ward at your local hospital. If you were an alien visiting such a place you'd get a pretty sad idea of the health of the population! Its like that here.
Our own MacBook is running perfectly. No significant heat (its cooler than my PB12 or my wife's thinkpad) , no moos, no whines, no problems.

Where is Vista SP2?

Vista SP2 was released to Windows Update yesterday, but it doesn't show up when I check for updates. Anybody else have this problem?
I found it extremely frustrating when Lenovo stopped SP1 while it was available for all others running Vista machines. Is Lenovo doing this again, possible as part of their new "strategy" for updates to the system? I'm running an X61 with Windows Vista Business (32) and would like to take advantage of the updates and upgrades in SP2. Now the question is, do I wait for it to show up in windows update or should I download and install the stand-alone version?

Thanks to both PanEuropean and vijaysaradhi. I downloaded and installed SP2 manually yesterday after Erik saying he had had no problems. So I'm not sure whether it would have shown up in Windows Update or not. The stand-alone version of SP2 was almost 350 MB, but it downloaded in only a couple of minutes (partly thanks to Google Chrome 2.0, which has superfast downloads).
Just like miner, I have experienced no problems at all since. I believe perhaps my system is a bit hotter now than before, judging from the temperature of the palmrest (the "feel" in my hands; I haven't measured the real temperature). But apart from that I've seen no problems with how the system works (10 GB disappeared from my HDD after installing, though). And I'm happy to see that Windows Search is very visibly faster.
