I had a similar problem with Vista Business and iTunes incompatibility. Here's the solution that worked for me.
It's the same solution that I used for all the program that aren't yet fully compatible with Vista. It's a temporary solution though till these programs are compatible.
1- Go to Control Panel
2- Go to Programs
3- Click on Use an older program with this version of windows
4- Click on I want to choose from a list
5- Select iTunes on the list
6- Now on the next list choose your operating system
7- Follow the other steps as indicated
I hope it works for ya

  • Hot Sync problems with Windows Vista using a Tungsten E2

Need Help solving a hot sync problem. Have a Tungsten E2, about a year old. Use Windows Vista OS. Can not sync to desktop. It worked fine for awhile then stopped sync'ing. Have reinstalled Palm Software, Have downloaded Palm 6.2. Have deleted all 3rd party apps,,,and their back up files. Particulary,,,,Epocrates apps, Took over my PDA. Installations and updates gets to synchronizing Calender and 'freezes' have left it on overnight figurng lots of data,,,,no progress. I need help. I really enjoy using this equipment.  I use my PDA for all my scheduling of work shifts appts etc. I would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks in advance. Mike.
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  So if I am understanding you when you try to sync it goes to calendar and freezes and never completes the sync.  That being the case the first thing you want to do is go to the conduits and turn off calendar then sync and all should be successful, except calendar will not sync.  What this indicates is that you have corrupted data in your calendar, most likely on the E2.  Do a google search on your computer for a utility 'dbfixit' and download it to your computer.  Extract it so you have the dbfixit.prc file and double click on it to put it in the installer.  Then, insuring the calendar conduit is off, sync to install it.  Once installed run dbfixit.  This utility is free or can be purchased for (I believe) 12.95.  The free version will search for corruption and problems let you know where they are and you will have to manually fix or delete them.  If you register it, when you run the utility it will find the errors and fix them as well.  Once all errors are fixed, turn the calendar conduit back on and you should be able to sync.

  • Photo sync problem with Windows Vista?

I did some searching and was wondering if there is a solution to the photo sync problem with Windows Vista. I have gone the route of changing some of my photos to bitmap files but this is was way too much work just to view on ipod. I like to email Apple but could not find a link to do so. As far as I know I have all updates but still the iPod does not sync photos. Is there an update to this that I am missing or am I stuck changing all my photos to .bmp files?
    Thanks,
    Dean.

I checked out the article and not much help, thanks anyway.
Would it make a difference if I purchased Adobe Photo Album or would I still be stuck with changing and saving files to .bmp extensions? I have Adobe Photoshop album starter but still have to change file extensions.
If someone has a solution to this problem I would really be greatfull. I did contact Dell as this is a brand new computer and that was a wash. They did give me a number for Apple but of course I bought the iPod off of ebay and has no warranty on it so unless I pay a fee I'm not calling. It just blows my mind that Microsoft and Apple can't or won't come up with a fix. But I guess when Microsoft wants you to buy the Zune or Apple wants you to buy the overpriced Macintosh why would they waste time on having there products compatible with each other.
    Thanks.

  • New iTunes, same sync problems with Vista

    Hi
I got really excited when I saw in the fixes for the latest iTunes 8.1 for Windows that they had fixed sync problems with iPhones. They haven't!
On Vista Ultimate the sync has always been a problem, with either OutlookSyncClient or AppleMobileSync (or both) frequently crashing. With the previous couple of versions of iTunes, in my case, it has happened every third or fourth sync. Now with the new version it is almost every sync. It took me five disconnect and reconnect attempts and a couple of reboots to succcessfully sync this morning.
I've tried every fix I can find on line. I read that the Outlook sync problem was caused by an incompatibility with pst files that were not unicode. Oddly, I wasn't supposed to be able to sync with an old pst at all, but it did work erratically. Converting my pst to unicode didn't make any difference.
With the AppleMobileSync problem, I read that completely removing all Apple software in a particular order, restarting each time between removals, then clean reinstalling, should solve the problem. It didn't.
Now the problem is even worse and I'm at my wits end on it. Come on Apple, get a grip!
If anyone can shed any light on this I would be really grateful!

  • IPhone Sync Problems with VISTA After iTunes Upgrade to 7.4

Upon upgrading to iTunes 7.4 I was unable to sync my Outlook calendar or contacts to the iPhone. Called Apple Support that they seemed to know nothing about this problem general problem despite all of the discussions on this and many other tech. boards.
After being told remove and reinstall iTunes and Outlook, set-up a new user account, etc... (none of which worked) I finally concluded that perhaps the .pst file being used by outlook was simply incompatible with iTunes for some reason (e.g. unsupported recurring calendar items).
SOLUTION: Create a new outlook .pst data file. Once created, open up that new file along with the defective .pst file. Then, simply change the view of calendars and contacts in your old calendar such that you can see all of the items in a list. Highlight the items you want to keep and simply click-and-drag them to the nes .pst file. This solves all of the sync. problems I had post-7.4 upgrade. It takes less than 3 minutes to complete this painless fix.
This was so annoying for me that I'd be happy to help someone complete this simple task if they need help. < Edited by Host, for your protection, no personal information please. >

Then it would appear to be an issue with your router. What router? Model? Is the firmware up to date?

  • ITunes on Windows 8 Syncing Problems Solved!

NOTE: I have only had this problem on Windows 8, not Windows 7, so if you're having trouble on Windows 7, this might not help you.
If you are experiencing the issue where your device never fully syncs, disconnects halfway through, freezes after "waiting for changes to be applied," then I believe this solution will help you.
    Follow these steps:
    1) Locate your iTunes.exe file. This can be found by the following path: Start--> All Apps (little arrow that appears on bottom left of screen when you mouse over it) -->This PC (on the far right) --> whatever drive you installed iTunes on (if you are not sure, it is the C drive by default) --> Program Files (x86) --> iTunes --> in this folder you will see a file labeled "iTunes.exe" or just "iTunes" make sure you're NOT on the "iTunesHelper" icon for the next step.
    2) Right-click on the file and hit "Properties"
    3) Click the tab labeled "Compatibility"
    4) Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    5) Click the drop-down menu just underneath that check box and choose "Windows 7"
    6) Now check the box labeled "Run this program as an administrator
    7) Click "Apply"
    8) Click "Ok"
    9) All done! Now try syncing whatever device was giving you trouble and it should work. My iPhone had to sync about 3000 songs and it failed about halfway through, but all I had to do was restart the sync and it finished the remaining 1500 or so.
Just thought I should offer this tip for those of you running Windows 8 and having syncing problems .

Yes that is a standard fix:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Vista sync

When syncing my iPhone on Vista (Ultimate), I routinely get and error:
"Attempting to copy to the disk '... iPhone' failed. The device timed out."
Sometimes if I reboot my PC it works ok, but after using my PC for a while, I start getting this message again. It's a relatively clean Vista install, without any bloatware.
When I sync my older 80GB iPod, I have no problems. Seeing all the comments about photo sync problems with Vista, I've stopped syncing those, but the problem persists. Suggestions (other than switching OS)?

Interestingly, this timeout happens when I have lots of songs on my iPhone and I'm downloading a lot of podcasts. When I reduced the number of songs on my iPhone (from 7GB down to about 4GB), the sync finishes more quickly and I don't get this timeout problem. It doesn't seem the like right solution, that I should only have reduce the amount of data being sync'ed.
While my PC is a couple of years old, it's still reasonably powerful (Pentium 4 2.53GHz, 2GB RAM, a Windows Experience Index of 3.6). I wish Apple would increase the timeout in iTunes and/or the iPhone.

  • IPod Classic Sync Problem - iTunes 11

I was having issues with syncing my iPod today. Multiple problems led to me having to uninstall iTunes on my PC and I also had to restore the iPod a couple of times. Once all was said and done, I could not sync my music to the iPod. It usually automatically synced when plugged in, but since the restore and reinstall, nothing happened. Even clicking sync with my iPod pllugged in didn't work.
SOLUTION (with the help of Apple tech support):
    1) Connect iPod to computer (make sure iTunes is running).
    2) Click on iPod name (mine is called Owner's iPod).
    3) At the top of the screen, next to "Summary", click on "Music".
    4) To the left of "Sync Music" there is a little box. There should be a check in it. If not, put a check there.
    5) The number of songs ready to be synced should appear.
    6) In the lower right hand corner, click on "Apply".
I saw in another forum information that I needed to find the box to select to sync songs, but the information was a few years old and I couldn't find it according to the directions. This should work for those with ver. 11.
If anyone else has sync problems and you HAVE A SOLUTION please share it here. Thanks!

    Hi black3793,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be both frustrating and concerning when iTunes becomes unresponsive when you connect your iPod. In your situation I would start by isolating iTunes by uninstalling it and all of its components in the correct order and installing fresh. Please follow the steps in the attached article for removing iTunes and its components.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Frustrating audio sync problem with MJPG clips!

I make short films from our family trips, using the jpg:s and mjpg clips made with our Canon compact digital camera. This has worked fine (since PE 2). Now I often get a frustrating audio problem on SOME of the MJPG:s, SOMETIMES.
When I play the clip in PE7, after 0.5 - 1 sec the audio jumps back to start, before it continues to the end along with the video. This makes the audio out of sync with the video (lagging 0,5 – 1 seconds).
The only way to fix this is to separate the audio track from the video, cut the start of the audio (to where it jumps back to the start) and then move the audio track to make it in sync. Besides being a tedious way to do on all clips, the audio track is not possible to extend “in the other end”, so I have to cut the video at the end as well…
However, this is not happing on all MJPG clips but only on some.
Also, the clip looks fine in other programs, e.g. wmp or windows movie maker.
I have tried other MJPG decoders but that does not make any difference (so it’s obviously no problem with the video). The audio is PCM Audio 44100Hz, 706 kb/s mono.
Now, when I tried repairing the PE7 installation, updating DirectX, removing all caches in the project directory, rebooting, it worked! The clip I was testing was in sync!
But, the next day I noticed the sync problem again on a lot of other clips… I then thought I should try to force PE to reanalyze the video again, so I remove the cache-directories (did not help) and moved the project file to another directory (this did not help, but on the other hand, I didn’t see PE7 analyzing the video again, so maybe there is a cache somewhere else??)
I noticed (looking at properties on the clip in the preview window in PE7), that the original audio is 44100Hz mono, but PE7 converts it to 48000Hz mono. Don’t know if there is some problem there, but it should not be any difference on different clips from the same source… (and the “jump back” in audio is 0,5-1 seconds regardless of clip length, and not the 9% that the difference in frequency would suggest + the audio plays in “normal speed”).
    I’ve run out of ideas!!
Please, does anybody have any constructive ideas or tips on what to try? Are there more caches to clear? Are there conflicts with another program, like wmp?
(I use PE 7.0 on a 4Gb, quadcore system running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.)
    // G

Thanks, I suppose I can start batch-converting my mjpg movies before importing them inte PE7, if that would make this problem disappear. I'll try that (I have FormatFactory installed, but VirtualDub seems like a nice tool if that is better), although that would make the process a bit more long-winded...
Regarding GSPOT info on a file that works and one doesn't, there are typically no difference between them (except length and content, of course). In fact, as I mentioned above, the same movie did not work until I did some reinstalling, clearing caches etc. Then the same movie suddenly worked OK again.
I attach the GSPOT info on that file.
(I never had this problem on my older XP system that run PE2...).
I will try converting to see if the problem disappears.
    Thanks!

  • Audio sync problem after scrubbing

I'm trying to piece together some clips from a TV series called Legend of the Seeker. I'm using Premiere CS4 4.0.1, Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
Placing the hour-long video in the Source Editor allows me to play the video fine from beginning to end, but if I start scrubbing through the file, the audio unsyncs itself immediately.
Here's a screenshot of the video in GSpot:
    http://img14.imageshack.us/my.php?image=premieresync.jpg
Setting IN and OUT points and then dragging a very small clip into the timeline has the same result.
Any ideas would be very appreciated.

You are actually pretty lucky to just have Audio sync problems, though I do not know why scrubbing would make any difference. With both Xvid and DivX one more often gets no Audio, or no Video.
Agree 100% on the 3rd party conversion, prior to Import into PrPro.

  • Pearl syncing problems and unspecified errors

    Hello all,
I have had this bbpearl flip for about a month now, and over christmas I added email and total internet to my phone package, so I am in the process of setting up all of that. Ever since I enabled the web and whatnot, I have been having sync problems. I tried to add email addresses to my outlook contacts by importing a .csv file, which gave me a box that said "Unspecified Error occured" during the sync. I have reinstalled the desktop manager software (v4.6) and the device software, and restored my harddrive to an earlier version. Everything seemed fine until I tried to use my bluetooth adapter to sync with my laptop. Turns out that the adapter doesn't work very well with Vista (which is what I have) so I have abandoned that idea for now. This morning when I plugged in my phone to sync, I am getting an Unspecified Error again. The last time I synced this way it worked just fine, and I don't know of anything I have done in the meantime to mess it up. Any ideas?

    Hello,
I haven't had to do so in quite some time, but I recall that if you do an export from Outlook, the order the data is in will be the same order that the sync process uses...which should enable you to find the record in question. However, that's from Outlook to the device...and you say you are doing the reverse...
Perhaps if you use the Desktop Software to perform an export from the BB, the records may well be in the order needed?
    Good luck!

  • Sync problems after iTunes Match update

iTunes Match has created an ongoing sync problem for me. If Match updates automatically based on songs I've purchased from the iTunes store, then I usually have no issues with the sync function. However, if I load a CD that is not in the Match library, or if I just manually do an update to Match, it causes my 160gb iPod to take 15-20 minutes to sync. Why is this happening?

I cannot sync my music but I get the message that it is connected but it is not recognised.
As advised on the error message I have reset the Nano and re-installed itunes with the same results.
Doublechecking. Have you tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

You should sync your ipod to your computer regularly.

  • 'Source play' and 'audio-video sync' problems with PE8 on fast WIN7 64 bit computer

I am transferring Hi8 videos, about 2 hours long, to my WIN7 64 bit computer with PE8.  [Dell Mobile Precision M4400 Computer Workstation (Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 500GB/4GB); NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M, 512MB] I seem to have several problems:
First, after importing the file (.avi), I get a message about ‘dropped frames.’
Secondly, when I try to play the video in the source monitor, the audio plays but the video doesn’t; it only shows the first frame [this is after waiting until the video is ?recognized? ]   I can use the shift-arrow key and see that the video is there.
Thirdly, I can play the .avi file in other players, e.g., avidemux or PE pro CS5 on another computer.  There, I see that the audio and video are not in sync; the audio can be up to 300 ms ahead of the video (as determined using avidemux).
    Questions:
    1.  Why doesn’t the source monitor play the video? Is this a problem with PE8 (latest update as of 3 March 2011) on aWIN7 64 bit computer (intel duo core. 3 GHz).
    2. Is the audio-video sync problem the result of the ‘dropped frames?’ How can PE8 correct this? Avoid this? Or, is it coincidence?

"I think you're telling me you're using a backwards compatible Digital8  camcorder to capture your video as DV-AVIs. Is that right?" YES
"Are you using  Premiere Elements to do this capturing?" YES, AS ABOVE PE8
"Go to the File menu and select Properties. It should show a standard DV codec being used for your video and audio."
WMP v12 is dumb. Under properties, media, it says 'video.'  However, avidemux gave me the information state above: video -- Codec 4CC: dvsd, frame rate: 29.971 fps; audio -- codec: PCM, channels: Stereo, frequency: 48 kHz.
    So, back to the Questions:
