Vista Ultimate: install Bootcamp failed, cannot switch back to Leopard

Hello
I just installed Vista Ultimate on a 100 Gb partition. After having finished I tried to install Bootcamp, needed to switch back to Leopard.
Though the installation of Bootcamp finishes OK I can't find it back in the Control Panel. So I'm not able to switch back to Leopard any longer.
And since I cannot restart Leopard, I cannot uninstall Vista Ultimate, so I'm running in a circle ..
Any suggestion/help how to get back in the original settings would be very welcome. thx in advance folks !

The Hatter thanks for your quick response !
Installing Boot Camo in 64 bits Vista cause problems with Services "KeyAgent" and "MacHAL". However install ends with msg "install ended successfully". I believe this might not be true ..
Want to uninstall and afterward reinstall 32 bits version.
However, prefer installing Vista 32 bits having started with Leopard, just to be sure. But I can't come back to Leopard without BootCamo.
Will try to perform a "direct" 32 bit install in the partition where 64 bits resides now.
If this succeeds I must be able to install Boot Camp succesfully ...
Don't you think so ?

  • Windows Vista Ultimate installed via Boot Camp?

Can install Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit using the latest version of Boot Camp on OS X Lion 10.7.4, or is it not supported? This article is not clear: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461

You must install Windows 7 if you use OS X Lion or Mountain Lion. You can install Windows Vista, but the drivers aren't compatible with this edition

  • Cannot switch back from windows keyboard setup

I switched the option and command key in system preferences so the layout would be correct on my windows keyboard but now the keys will not switch back (they say they are switched but do not work that way) Does anyone know how to fix this?

Presumably you mean back to OSX.
You can either locate the Bootcamp utility in the system tray and click it and choose reboot to OSX or you can reboot and hold the Alt key after the chime and select Macintosh HD.

Safari 5.1.9 and Java 6 are the latest versions available for OS X 10.6.8. To upgrade any further you would need to upgrade to Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.4) through the Mac App Store.

  • Cannot switch back to built-in output after connecting USB mic

I cannot get playback unless I plug back in my USB mic (Blue Yeti) on Mac OS X.
    I get this notice:
"The selected audio device has no output channels."
I select Default Output to be "built in output" then go to Audio Channel Mapping tab and my output device is saying Yeti stereo microphone (not working).
It is obviously not working because it isn't plugged in. My question is why isnt it using my built in output when the mic is unplugged. Even through the Sound tab in system preferences my output is set to "built in"
I get playback through the mic when it's plugged in, but I need to be able to get playback through my built in output when the mic is not plugged in. Any ideas on this greatly appreciated.

  • Cannot switch back to 3G on iPhone 4

    Hi everyone,
I have searched for answers all over, but still don't know why my iPhone is behaving like this.
Once I disable 3G in Settings, I cannot make it work again. If I enable it back, the signal goes off and "No service" comes up.
I have tried to reset network settings, restore the firmware, replace the SIM card, restart the phone and so on... the phone will work on 3G for a while (a couple of hours) and then the signal will go off again. The only way to have my iPhone working, is by letting the 3G disabled. It will work fine will Edge like this.
Does anybody know how to fix it?
    Thanks!

Thanks diesel vdub! Finally. I hadn't realised that within Reset there were other options so I was under the wrong impression. Resetting my network settings does appear to have done it. I've tried several apps and Safari and they seem to be fine on 3G now. Losing my wifi passwords etc is a small price to pay. I can easily rejoin the ones I use and never use Bluetooth pairings.
    THANK YOU!

  • Installing bootcamp, pauses and reads "Back up the disk and format it to a single Mac OS extended journaled"

I just ran disk utility as promted and checked, the main disk is already formatted to a single Mac OS extended (journaled).
It previously had parallels partitioning, it is still installed and I can't uninstall it, could this be the problem?

No, Parallels does not create a partition, it's just another program.

  • Unable to log into Vista to install Bootcamp drivers

    Hey

    Hi Sachin,
You helped me solve it! I was using http://localhost which brought me to http://localhost/bluedoor. I instead tried http://localhost:8080/bluedoor and it worked. I did the same on the uDesigner server and it also worked. That was confusing as I thought it was running on port 80. This is using IE8.
    Thank you

  • Adobe Reader V9.0 will not install on Windows Vista Ultimate SP1

I have Windows Vista Ultimate Build 6001 and tried to install adobe reader V9.0. The download was fine but when I run the program (AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe) it returns the error:
    "NOSSO (R) has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available
    Close program"
So I guess my questions are
    1. Is there a version of adobe reader that will install on windows vista ultimate SP1?
    or
    2. Is there another pdf reader that will work with Vista Ultimate SP1?
Thanks for any and all assistance!!
    Mark

I am getting the exact same error:
I have a brand new HP xw8600 systems with 64 bit Vista Ultimate installed.
Via google I found a suggestion to turn on user account control.
I went to control panel > User Account > Turn User Account Control
checked the box and restarted the system. I ran the install as the administrator. It was a minor improvement. Instead of the error coming up immediately like it was, I got the OS confirmation asking if I wanted to install the program. I got the failure right have selecting "yes"
Running out of clues... any help?

  • Who has installed Vista Ultimate SB at Satellite M40

Is there anyone who have Vista Ultimate installed at Satellite M40? I've big problems to install Vista. After I disabled the PCMCIA it's OK. I'm looking for a new BIOS-update and Vista-drivers.

    Hi
Im a M40 owner but I did not install the Vista on this unit. I use the XP.
I did not install the Vista on this unit because according to the Toshiba document which I found in this forum the Toshiba drivers are not available and I dont think that this drivers will be available in the next time or anytime for this notebook series.
Does the notebook have a Vista capable sticker? I dont think so :(

  • Windows Vista Ultimate on iMac 24" Experience

I wanted to share my experience installing Windows Vista Ultimate on my new iMac 24" with Bootcamp 1.2.
Background: My iMac is a 2.16 Dual Core with 1GB memory, 128MB of video memory, and bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It has the latest and greatest version of OS X and Bootcamp 1.2.
Experience: I installed bootcamp with no problems. I followed the setup wizard, creating the windows drive cd, and partitioned my hardrive with ease. I placed the Windows Vista Ultimate dvd in the drive and restarted my Mac. To my suprise, Windows Vista setup loaded recognizing the bluetooth keyboard/mouse and proceeded to install. The installation took about 15 mins.
Conclusion: I was quite impressed with Vista's speed. When I double clicked the applications they bursted open. The new Aero interface was incredible. The colors were vibrant and bright. I was expecting Vista to run dog slow with the hardware configuration but it was quite the opposite. The configuration was no problem for Vista. I know Vista has the ability to use unused ram dynamically for video so maybe that was it.
I know some people will get mad but I found myself switching back and forth looking at OS X and Vista. Reason is the speed was noticeably quicker in Vista. I did discover that Vista uses a "prefetch" technology which stores files of the recently used applications. It allows them to load commonly used applications faster.
Anyway, I thought I would share my experience. Best part was Bootcamp 1.2 and Vista Ultimate (30 days) are free. Back to OS X.

Compare the price of vista ultimate to tiger, and you might notice something...
Okay, maybe that version might be beautiful (the graphic art) but all clean and clear, it is still running on a failing foundation, aka windows platform.
I suppose I would share your opinion on speed when seeing it, but I want to mention that, when I experienced Windows XP with a previous bootcamp version, I also noticed that windows was verrry speedy. A friend of mine installed the same cd of xp on his computer with exactly the same config-specs as mine, only difference was: it was a non-apple machine and mine is (ofcourse).
Guess what we both experienced, there was no way that the speed was the same, although they both had same configs (and then I mean not only for ram, but every aspect). Don't ask me how that is possible (maybe that, for recognizing mouses and stuff the so called plug and play system of microsoft gets overwritten by the driver from mac you need to install to run windows on mac?) but I know it is just true.
To me that proves once again that mac is just way better. (and for your information, I've been working with windows for 8 years, until last year July, so I'm not just a un-XP'd anti-microsoft apple fan) but that anti-microsoft might in fact become true.
    And just a little Tiger tumb up;
Now ofcourse, can't blame you for that because on a desktop you won't see all of that, but have you seen what happens with your battery life of a macbook or macbook pro when running both xp or vista on it? **** man, I have 4 hours battery-life when running os X with "best performance" settings, airport and bluetooth out, mighty mouse with cord (ofcourse, the bluetooth is out), ethernet cable plugged-in, full brightness. When running XP, that changes to 2h 26min, same config. Now, there vista is heavier in a graphical way, you see the battery life under vista shrinking to 2h 01min...

  • 6 Buttons do not function on Satellite U400-10O after upgrading to Vista Ultimate

    Hi,
I have upgraded my U400-10O from original Win Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate, installed each and every driver and utility program, (some of them, e.g. TVAP several times ;-)
However could not succeed to operate the multimedia shortcut buttons, Led on/off, Media Player, Play, etc... They were functional with the original setup, but I need this Win Ultimate.
What is the real solution to let them work?
    Thanks,
    EIO.

    Hi Jimi,
I have tried to unistall/reinstall the VAP several times, by checking/unchecking that "Toshiba Button Support" however, none helps.
Actually, I also wanted to unistall the control utility first to start from scratch, but I cannot find it at all! Really, what is this "control utility" supposed to be??? I have found several controllers, control managers, and specialized utilities, but I cannot find "THE" control utility.
Is there any place where I can complain about my status to Toshiba? Or how can I access to that legendary thread owner "Mouxy - Daniel" who appears to have the solution? http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=34487
    Best,
    EIO.

  • Vista Ultimate recovery on x60

I have an old x60 that had Vista Ultimate installed on it.  The person I purchased it from created a set of recovery DVD's using Vista's backup and recovery tool.  The file is a .vhd file.  Now, without thinking, when I received the laptop, the first thing I did was to factory restore using Rescue and Recovery.  My problem is that it was restored back to WinXP.  How can I use the Vista DVD's to recover Vista back?

    Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    Hi
First off all buddy, I wonder how did you download a Vista Ultimate from the Microsoft website? Did you upgrade it???
Secondly the Satellite P300-175 seems to belong to the PSPC4E series and you should always choose this number in the download form if you would like to download the right drivers!!!
So if you have new Vista version, I would recommend installing firstly the clean Vista Ultimate and then to reinstall the Toshiba Vista drivers from the Toshiba European driver page.
As far as I know in very rare cases it could happens that the preinstalled drivers or Utilities for Vista Home Premium are not fully compatible with Ultimate.
Therefore its advisable to start with the clean OS installation and then to reinstall the single drivers and tools
    Check it out
