Vista Ultimate Will Not Install Zen Mi

I have browsed the posts for two days and I cannot find a remedy to this problem. I upgraded to Vista Ultimate a few weeks ago and I just tried to add my MP3 player yesterday. I figured I would just format the thing and flash the firmware cleanly anyways to make sure everything was ship-shape because I wanted to re-build my library on it anyways. So I plug it in to Vista and it gets recognized and says it is starting to install the drivers. It gets near the end and then it fails saying that?"Vista cannot install the drivers for MTP Device"?"The parameter is incorrect". This is really not making much sense to me because as I said I just reflashed the firmware correctly with the 2.xx PlaysForSure firmware and it works correctly in XP Pro with WMP. I cannot find one bit of support on this issue and it is really irking me. Does anyone have any answers or help?

Sorry am running out of ideas.
The driver it should be using is the MTP driver that is in windows vista.
Not sure why its not linking up and working right.
Been searching some of the articles about the Zune players, and they mention the following procedure for the Zune device when they do this: (Zune's are MTP devices as well)?# Make sure USB Legacy support is enabled in your system bios#2?Boot into save mode with device attached to the system#3 When device driver is detected but fails to install, select the device in device manager and select uninstall.#4. Unplug device from the system, then plug it back in. "According" to the note on one of the Zune forums this fixes the problem when it occurs with the Zune.
But at this point am just guessing.

  • Vista SP1 will not install, error 0x800f0826. Fix It tools will not run.

I am trying to upgrade a laptop all the way to Vista SP2, I first need to install SP1. It will not install and after Step 3 or 3, 100%, reverts stating error
    0x800f0826.
The common cause, looking online, is a previous failed Windows update.
On this laptop there are no updates listed at all in Windows updates, none listed as pending, installed or hidden. It is as though Windows update has no history yet it tells me
it is up to date and there are no updates available.
I have tried a huge variety of Microsoft FixIt tools from various KB articles to try and solve this and this provides my other clue as 100% all Fix it tools fail.
If I could work out what causes them to fail, I might have more insight to the failed SP1.
Running any Microsoft "fixit" tool comes up with
"Troubleshooting cannot continue because an error has occurred we're sorry but the program encountered an error and can not continueplease
try again later. To download a utility to troubleshoot this problem click here." Clicking just downloads a Cab file full of PowerShell commands and xml files. (DIAG_MATS_NETWORK_global.DiagCab) which does
not seem to work with the Microsoft Diagnostic Toolkit.
If anyone can help me get the Fix It tools working then I might stand a chance to get the rest working.

  • Vista SP1 will not install

I get a quick flash of the Command Prompt screen but the install will not go any farther. This is on a brand new MacBook. Both Mac and Windows have had all of the new updates before trying to update Vista SP1. I presume since no updates are available that all drivers are current.

I couldn't tell if you are booting from the new Vista SP1 DVD, or trying to use standalone update, or Windows Update.
Some people didn't have enough free space. And before applying I would run a chkdsk and sfc along with Vista backups (either WinClone or built-in backup in Ultimate/Business edition).
The boot problem with SP1 seems like a new wrinkle in EFI firmware on new Macs.

I've done SP1 update a couple times. Once with the 700MB download update, and once with Windows Update. Normally it updates in stages, preparing, and configuring and applying. It also needs free temp space to configure and update which you regain back afterward (less about 1-2GB).

  • Vista SP2 will not install

Good day, this is my first post. We have a 3000 N100 that will not allow Vista SP2 to install. At least that is what Microsoft support says, after spending all Sunday morning chatting with them. But SP1 installed just fine a while ago.
I uninstalled AVG today  just in case but no joy.
Microsoft insists that we should reinstall Vista, but no Vista CD came with the laptop.
Another thing: when I click on the Lenovo Care icon, nothing happens?
    thanks

  • T61p + Vista ultimate = Will not let applications access internet. Please help

Hey all, new here. However, I've owned an R40 IBM Thinkpad before I've upgraded to this T61p for college. I absolutely LOVE this laptop, apart from the issue I am experiencing at hand.
My system specs, incase it is of concern
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
    4GB RAM
    200GB 7200RPM (encrypted) drive
    Nvidia 570m GPU
    Intel  T9300 2.5 ghz 6mb L2 cache
    here's what I'm going through...
All sorts of applications that require access to the net are getting hung up, and idicating that they cannot connect to the server's they are pointed to for updates. Examples include, AVG antivirus, Punkbuster (Anti-cheat software that runs in the background of online games...always updating) and these are the only apps I have that require internet access so far.
I can browse using Firefox and Internet Explorer no problem.
The punkbuster is especially frustrating because just about ALL games and ALL servers use it, and if punkbuster doesn't update, you get kicked out of the game.
I am convinced it is Vista as I've never had the sort of problem with XP, and it is two different applications experiencing the problem.
I am accessing wireless through a router with the necessary ports I need open for this software, and I am running Comodo Firewall in learning mode. However, even if I disable Comodo altogether i get the same symptoms.
Any help would be much appreciated

    OK, two things:
ON your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced > Browser.
Set that to HOTSPOT and save.
Now, connected to a WiFi router, open the internet browser on the BlackBerry try going to mobile.blackberry.com
    Does it work?
Also, Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the mobile network internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • New Vista Drivers will not install/w

Ok, so i uninstalled my old creative beta drivers through the vista program uninstall, along with uninstalling the device within device manager. Then, I rebooted the computer and ran the new driver exe. once it went into the install program after unpack it said:
"you have previously installed drivers without rebooting, please reboot and try again"
so i reboot again (even though i have yet to install anything.....same problem...
I tried deleting my windows temp folder and still no luck.
Then, i tried copying the unpacked folder "CF000" or whatever its called and directly tell device manager to grab the drivers from there.
Now it lists the x-fi in device manager but with this error after restart:
"This device cannot start. (Code 0)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."
PLEASE help. Now i have no sound and i can not install the old beta drivers because they now give me the same crap "you have tried installing without reboot bla bla bla"

Ok, so I finally got it to work. I am not sure what i did differently to be honest. I did the same thing that I did 0 times before: erased windows temp folder, erased any folder labeled creative after running a search, uninstalled the device via device manager... and suddenly the install ran to completion. Does my audio work now? yes. Was it probably the biggest pain I have ever had to install drivers? yes, by far. I am not trying to slam creative because hey, at least I have working drivers.... but oh man was it a pain in the ###. I can see why people go for on board audio now...

  • Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows Vista Ultimate will not load/update

Costing me hours of my billable time, ADOBE strikes again. i have uninstalled, updated(9.4.2 - which says Acrobat is not on my computer, though it is), i cannot get Acrobat to work. it gives me the error that i need to open Photoshop because it is part of a suite. photoshop, illustrator all have been opened but A9 will still not load.
    any thoughts.

The subscription I bought allows me to go online and use Acrobat XI Pro without having it installed on my machine. It works okay, but I'd rather have the software installed on my desktop.
I guess I didn't read the product information closely enough.  I can use the online service no problem with my Vista machine, but I can't download the software onto it so that I can use the program on my desktop.
I did successfully download the software to a Windows 7 notebook on the same network.  It downloaded without a hitch and it works fine.
The subscription allows me two downloads - one to a desktop and one to a portable machine.  I suppose I'll have to upgrade my desktop to Windows 7 or 8.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Windows Vista disk will not install in bootcamp

I have been trying for several days to install Win Vista home premium (full version). The dvd drive always does the same. It starts to spin up and then I hear it read twice and then it stops and I end up with the light grey screen. I have gone as far now as a full system clean install (and time machine restore). I have tried unplugging everything. I have tried using the original keyboard and mouse. I have read every post I can find. I have tried to boot by holding option key. All hardware checks out fine, the disk is good. Does anyone have any insight into what could be done to correct this issue? Any input appreciated.

  • Vista Ultimate SP1 will not install

After downloading a package including SP1, following install protocol produces error code 80070002.
Attempting to install from online access produces error code 8024200D
Microsoft now recommends an inplace upgrade. But that requires the installation DVD and product code.
Lenovo did not provide an installation DVD or a product code.
    Any ideas ?
New in early April 2008 Lenovo T61

    Hi
According to MS, error code 8024200D implies that all necessary previous updates were not installed properly, hence SP1 will not install. Here is a good explanation of error code 80070002 and a possible fix for that issue.
How to fix this problem (successful SP1 install) entirely? I wouldn't know where to start, quite frankly. There have been numerous threads here in these forums regarding both "error" codes - I'd advise you to search the forums entering only the error code to see what comes up. You may also like to search through the forums at http://forum.thinkpads.com (not officially affiliated with Lenovo, but an excellent resource site nonetheless).
Unfortunately, Microsoft really buried itself with all the administrative/security/secretive red-tape with regards to Vista. The same technology they introduced in that operating system meant to forestall "security threats" to the OS is causing huge problems even for a "simple" update. Ironically, even the fine folk at Microsoft don't know how to address many of these "error" codes... (If you search the Microsoft site, using those error codes, you'll see they offer no practical way of resolving the issue)!!!
Partly why I and my clients avoid Vista altogether.
By the way, the first thing you should have done when you received your machine was to make a set of "recovery" disks when prompted at first boot-up. Neither Lenovo nor any other major laptop manufacturer send out copies of the OS with the systems (well, ok, some occasionally do...).
Regarding the product code, the laptop you received with Vista Ultimate came "pre-activated". The OEM code found on the sticker below your machine is not an installation code for Vista.... So even if you had a DVD of Vista there in front of you and tried to install Vista on the laptop using the code on that OEM sticker, it would accept it but you wouldn't be able to activate Vista with that key. Don't get me wrong, the code is valid, but not for a fresh installation. All it is, is a license code that comes on a pre-activated install of Vista. You'd have to call Microsoft and explain what the situation is and ask them to accept the code found on the sticker on your machine, for which they'll give you a new license and activation code. I really don't know why MS complicates things so much.

airport extreme software will not install on vista, how can i still configure the router?  Trying to help someone with vista get an airpot extreme configured.  10.0.1.1 does not work, the software will not install correctly on their vista machine.  How can I get into the base tation and lock it down?

Hi - Vista can be tricky - I need more info to see if I can be of some help - first, is the Vista machine a desktop or a laptop and is it fully up to date with Windows Update (sp2 or higher)? - next, are you trying to install Airport Utility version 5.5.3 which is the correct one for Vista? - and finally, what do you mean "it will not install" - what kind of error messages or evidence are you getting?

  • Digital camera solution disk will not install on MS Vista

Initial installation on gift machine with MS Vista was fine. Months after a reinstall the Digital camera solution disk 28.2 for Canon A340 will not install on mchine, but installed fine on a Win 7 machine. The installation goes up until it starts installing then an error message (no code) just states it cannot install.

"I will try to make a disk on his."
I doubt this will work either.  MS has diffintely screwed uo Win 8 especially if you don't want a MS account.
Do you know how to use Computer Management?  This is going to be purposely vague because if you don't you really shouldn't do this.
Go into Computer Management, right click on Administator and click General.
Uncheck the Account is disabled box. It is also a good idea to set a password for the Administrator account since it has total unrestricted access to the system. Now you can log off your current account and you’ll see the Administrator account show up in the list of users.

  • TS3694 itunes will not install on my laptop any more. The latest update seems incompatible with Windows Vista.

The latest iTunes update will not install on my HP laptop with Windows Vista. There is a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error message and it will not load or set p.

I reinstall Quicktime and it would not launch and gave me the same error messages.
We'd better check to see if some other application has stashed old versions of QuickTime componentry down in your system files.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • I am trying to use an education program that needs Java applets to install and use and it will not use Safari. When I download IE from the web it will not install. How can I get a browser that will work on my MacAir for travel use of this program?

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.
