Vista Upgrade from Moduslink

I thought that some of you guys might like to know that I have received confirmation from Moduslink that my Vista 'free' upgrade will be delivered within the next 4 to 6 weeks.
The order was placed on the 2nd February 2007, so if I receive it in the specified time limit, the order will have taken 12 weeks to fulfill!!!
Also if I don't receive the upgrade by 1st May 2007, I have to contact them. (watch this space) and don't hold your breadth!
A disgrace in my humble opinion - Microsoft's agent for this upgrade leaves a lot to be desired!!

Hi John
Please do not be mad on me but why you post all this on Toshiba support forum?
For the whole Vista upgrade program is Moduslink Company responsible. If you are angry try to clarify all this with them.

  • Problems with Vista upgrade on Moduslink

'COA invalid', 'Irrecoverable Error', 'Alert not Implemented'... these are kind of messages I get from Moduslink. I'm not expecting to reply my emails since they are in neck-deep.
I love my A100 SAA9E, a very stable and powerful machine. I'm from London and have selected all the right options, but it would either come up with a random COA prob, or an error after my penultimate step.
    What can I do? Help.
    Shawn

I was unable to complete the Vista upgrade via the Moduslink on Toshiba's website http://wwww.toshiba-europe.com/vista-upgrade, even though I got to paying for the upgrade with my credit card. When my payment was being processed I got an 'unrecoverable error', so I went back to repeat the process and this time the site didn't recognize my COA on the bottom of the laptop.
I contacted Moduslink via the following Tel No. 00800 666 44 666 (UK) and spoke to one of their support staff (choose options 5 and then 8). There is a problem with their site excepting payments from credit or debit cards. The representative reset my COA, but it takes 48 hours for it to clear (so much from electronic data communications to servers). I have been told to retry the upgrade process again on Friday 16/02/2007, however, this time to pay either by wireless transfer from my bank or send a cheque.
Hopefully, this will help others who were frustrated with the Vista upgrade debacle. It would be more appropriate however, if the company concerned, Modulink, resolved the issue in the 1st place. Firstly by informing their customers that there was an issue, secondly on a work around to the problem and finally fixing the problem. Will commonsense ever prevail?

  • Vista upgrade from XP- now can't get applications to work.

Upgraded my computer from XP to Vista and although I recovered many files from the windows.old folder I can't get these files or applications to work.  i.e.:  I can't get MS Office pro to work, that's just an example.  I can't get any of
the applications to work.  What has to be done to get these applications (and games) to run.

It sounds as though you are just copying the files from Windows.old. However to make them work you must really reinstall the applications and games.

  • Moduslink free Vista upgrade - order confirmed - one has hope

I now have hope that my free Vista upgrade might be delivered. Having gone through the Moduslink procedure and received the 'unrecoverablt error' message as well as the subsequent 'we cannot validate your COA number', I, like many others, was at a loss as to what to do next (in the absence of any real help from Moduslink).
However, out of curiosity I went back to the very start of the Moduslink procedure and clicked on the link 'check existing order'.
    https://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/Vista/ConsumerWebsite/(S(5ggosk45lxz42waxhpen4wfh))/GlobalLandingPage.aspx?oem=&Lang=
I then keyed in my COA number and e-mail address, and to my surprise it said my order was confirmed; it also gave me an 'order number'. It did not give a shipping date though.
I've subsequently e-mailed my order number with a copy of my proof of purchase to Moduslink (which they need apparently). I'm now awaiting a confirmation from them that the order will be shipped.
They have also responded to a couple of e-mails I've sent which is encouraging. They generally respond two days after I've sent my e-mail. Consequently, I'm hoping tomorrow they'll respond to my proof of purchase e-mail.
I hope this helps others. I should add that Moduslink advise it may take 6-8 weeks before the Vista upgrade is shipped but at least I have a little hope now. That said, I have not received it yet, so who knows??

I hope your posting will help other who tries to update the own XP to the Vista via Moduslink. Thanks for the info

  • Moduslink cannot send Vista upgrade

    Hi all,
Since Feb 23 I entered and sent all the details (and approved) were necessary to MODUSLINK to get my upgrade of VISTA BUSINESS. Yesterday 18th June i have received the following email:
    [i]Dear Customer,
Thank you for placing your order with the Upgrade Redemption Support Centre.
This email has been sent to you because we have been unable to charge the costs of your Upgrade order using the credit card details you provided. At the moment of order entry we did receive a pre-authorization from your credit card company/bank; however, when we recently tried to clear this authorization, the payment was not authorized. Unfortunately, because we have not received the funds for your Upgrade we have been left with no option but to cancel the order.
Since the order intake of the Upgrade Program has been closed, we regret to inform you that there is no opportunity to place another order within the Technical Upgrade Program. For any further information please contact your PC manufacturer.
    With kind regards,
    The Upgrade Redemption Support Centre
I feel that this is unfair.
Could anyone help me out with this?
    Thanks!

I have had the exact same message from Moduslink - sent all kinds of complaining e-mails to them without success.
I ordered the Vista upgrade on 3rd February 2007 and gave credit card details which was well within timeframe for the promotional offer.
Contacted Toshiba with no offer of assistance, just told me that they are not software manufacturers.
    Had same reaction from Microsoft.
Moduslink now say offer is closed.

  • Can't print from IE 8 after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7

My laptop (HP Elitebook 8530w) uses two HP printers: Color LaserJet CP3525x (at work) and Deskjet 6940 (at home). Both printers are accessed across a local network.
I recently upgraded from Vista Enterprise to Windows 7 Enterprise.
Everything still prints fine (from Word, Adobe Reader, Windows Photo Viewer, etc.), except for IE 8! When I try to print a web page from IE, it prints only the page header, and otherwise the sheet is empty. This symptom occurs on both printers. (And of course this worked fine before the upgrade.)
Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

If anyone else is having this problem, I found the solution on another forum (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/920588e5-ccc4-4e24-83d6-606...).
Specifically, the following steps solved the problem:
    1. If it doesn't already exist, create a directory named "Low" in your directory "C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\".
    2. From a command prompt, issue this command:  ICACLS C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\Low /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low

Also having reinstallation issues with pse6 on this same pc.  Pse6 was installed and working on vista 64bit version of the OS, now won't install on rebuilt windows professional 7 32bit (keeps giving me serial number not valid errors).  I'm not trying to pirate these programs.  Just want to reinstall them.

  • Problems after upgrading to vista premium from basic

i just upgraded my laptop to vista premium from basic. a couple of changes worth to mention: the system seems to be more stable after upgrading. and ram usage reduced to roughly 47% from 55%.
bad side: can not use thinkvantage to recover my laptop to factory condition. it seems that the option has been removed. and while start-up, if i press the blue ThinkVantage bottom, the system does not go to normal rescue and recovery program.
the other problem i have is the system says i recently changed the system password (seems sth to do with the client security solution software). but i did not.and i need to verify the password. and problem appears, the system says my password is wrong.
    any thoughts on these problems?
    thx

I agree with Cedric on the repair disk. As you have installed a "different" OS the Master Boot Record has been changed resulting in the loss of the function.

  • Upgrading from windows vista to windows 7

I am upgrading from windows vista to windows 7. The upgrade I am using is going to delete all of the information I currently have on my hard drive.
I have itunes set up with all of the correct artist/album/track/cover image information for my files. I also have consolidated all of these tracks to an external hard drive - no mp3s in itunes are stored on my local hard drive. I consolidated these tracks after I edited all of the artist/album/track/cover image information.
My questions is this. Once I reinstall itunes on windows 7, when I import these tracks from the external hard drive - are the edits to the files (artist/album/track/cover image information) going to be shown in itunes like they were prior to the windows upgrade? I have a large number of tracks that I have invested a huge amount of time into and I really don't have the time or patience to duplicate the effort.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • HP not honoring free upgrade from Vista to Windows 7

When I purchased my machine in February 09 with Vista home edition I was promised on the web site and by the sales clerk that I would receive a free upgrade to Windows 7. Now I am told that only machines purchased after June 09 will qualify. I am furious and will not settle for this. Does anyone else have this issue.

Look you might have understood them wrong or you're saying something that they didn't say. They might have told you that there is going to be a free upgrade program for Windows 7 closer to when Windows 7 launches and thought you could get it when you bought it or you just want to accuse HP that they said that you would have the W7 Upgrade for free so you can get the upgrade. You should have looked for an official confirmation from Microsoft for the free upgrade from vista to W7, http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/06/25/announcing-the-windows-7-upgrade-option-program-amp-windows-7-pricing-bring-on-ga.aspx This link was released on June 25, 2009 and officially says that the free upgrade program was going to start on June 26, 2009 and this is directly form the Windows Blog. You made a mistake of listening to people and not looking for the official Microsoft Announcement. Your out of luck. Microsoft did this with xp to vista when vista came out and it was around the same months as vista to W7, so you should have also looked for past free upgrade. On February, Windows 7 date hasn't even been announced and the beta was still in progress as posted here on February 2009 http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/01/23/general-availability-for-the-windows-7-beta-to-end.aspx   So this goes back to the top, you should have looked at past free upgrades like xp to vista to check how many months before they will start the free upgrade program.

  • Satellite Pro L - Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 possible?

Does anyone know if the Satellite Pro Recovery disc (Vista) qualifies as a basis for upgrading to Windows 7 using a Microsoft Upgrade Edition disc? Or is the full retail new version needed?

    Hi seoras,
I dont see a reason why it should be not possible...
I mean if you install Vista from Toshiba recovery disk its the same Vista as from a Microsoft disk but with all drivers and tools from Toshiba.
So just buy a Windows 7 upgrade disk that is cheaper as a full version and start the upgrade. Thats all!
If you need new drivers after Windows 7 installation, just check the Toshiba website. On this page you can find all downloads for your notebook.

  • Satellite Pro A210 Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7

    Hello
Can anyone suggest why I am having problems upgrading from 32bit vista to windows 7 - 32 vista?
I'm not sure if it is because there isn't enough RAM
Has anyone else had a similiar problem on this laptop?
    Thanks

Toshiba have a guide to upgrading at [http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletin.jsp?ct=SB&soid=2450599&ref=EV]. I'd go through their suggested method and then come back if you still have problems
