Vista x64 Dolby/DTS (Games and Vid

Has anyone managed to get Dolby 5. working with CSS in Vista x64. The problem I am experiencing is that when I set my default playback device (in Vista) to speakers I am able to enable Dobly 5. in CSS but I only get Stereo sound. If i set my default playback devivce (in Vista) to SPDIF out CSS?is unable to enable Dolby 5. and detects only stereo speakers.
As for Dolby/DTS in video clips they seem to work fine in PowerDVD and Windows Media Player. But I do need to switch my default playback device (in Vista) manually to SPDIF for it to work. Can this process be automated? Do I have to use a different filter (I am using AC3Filter) for video clips in Windows Media Player or can I somehow use the PowerDVD decoder in Windows Media Player?

DDL and DTS Connect for x-fi are software based and it sucks.
in order to get the best results and compatibility you should an external encoder.
Creative have them for 25 bucks, not hbest solution, but it woks flawlessly .

  • Problem with Vista x64 and Audible in iTunes

I've made a clean install of Vista x64.
Installed iTunes and started it off reloading my music. When it came to .aa files from Audible it prompted me for my audible login - which I gave. It then rejected my login and skipped all my audible stuff.
I've now tried several times to completely wipe iTunes from my system and reinstall it (even tracking down all the config stuff it installs and doesn't remove on removal) and still have no luck. I've also tried the vista permissions fix.
Problem is iTunes seems to think it's authorized on Audible as I have a 'DeAuthorize Audible account' option under advanced. If I enter my login under this, or when prompted when trying to add an Audible file I get a "Could not authorize this computer because an error occurred (-44012)" error message.
Anybody have any clue about this, because google hasn't.

I believe that's just to fix permissions if you can't play back music you've purchased from the music store.
I did try running it anyway, just to see if it made any difference, it didn't.

  • Satelite A300-1GN and Vista x64 driver support

    Hi,
I am (happy?) owner of this model for 2 days.
However it seemes logically that if this notebook can support up to 8GB RAM (i bought with 4GB) there should be possibility to install x64 operating system.
It seems, but it's not like I see. There are no drivers for x64 MS Systems on Toshiba official website to download.
Well, I am able to understand you do not want to support Win XP x64, because this system is getting older.
I can not understand how it's possible that every large company supports Vista x64 for their devices and Toshiba do not.
It seems perverse that you do not deliver suitable drivers and I really can't believe that.
I am wonder and i hope the main reason is that product I own is a new model and the drivers appears soon.
E.g. Satelite A200 has x64 support despite its a lower and weaker model...
I hope we can expect that our doubts will be explaining, and Toshiba will not slight their custommers longer, but will incline to our requests.
If I am mistaking of looking for needed drivers, then want to apologize for my post,
but if I am not wrong I will be satisfied to hear rational answer and ensure that the drivers will comming soon!
    regards
    Kuba

Well I really hope it will be.
Mabye can you tell me how long does it usually take to support the drivers for 64bit systems for new model by toshiba?
If I will have to wait e.g. 2 years there will be no sense to wait for them. If does it usually take about few months I will be waiting carefully.
Or mabye somebody can give me advice if there is a sense trying to find needed drivers on devics producers sites?
Finally my question is, if models having nearly the same devices and configurations like sat a300-1GN and sat a300-15B are probably using the same drivers?
If there are the same graphic cards the same webcam the same loudspeaker? :)
Is there any sense to try drivers for this devices for sat a200 series?
I am sure i will try to install Vista x64 for few days so i am satisfied for all tips i will get here.
    Greetings,
    Kuba

  • State of Vista x64 Driv

I'm getting a new motherboard tomorrow so I'll need to reinstall Windows. ive been using Vista 32 off and on since Feb 07, and after SP and the March 08 Creative drivers it's been good enough for my needs that I haven't needed to boot XP. There are still warts, but no showstoppers for my needs.
If I'm going to reinstall I'd like to go x64. ive got 4GB RAM, and I'd like to be able to use it. I really don't need it since all my programs that matter (games mostly) are still 32 bit. It's mostly because I can and I don't really want to reinstall again soon should a 64 bit capable game I want comes out in the near future. I have no 6 bit stuff that matters, so thats not an issue.
Most of my games use OpenAL, otherwise I'd just use the motherboard sound. I play the Battlefield games, WoW, GRAW, UT, All the Half-Life games, Quake series... you get the idea.
My Question is pretty simple, albeit subjective. How are the Creative drivers for Vista x64. It's an Intel P35 chipset, GeForce 9600GT video, and X-Fi Gamer. Any specific gotchas on the new Beta drivers I understand Cmss3d is an issue, but if thats really the only thing I can probably deal with that for a while assuming it'll be fixed (leap of faith there).
Kind of a vague question, and definately subjective. I'm just fishing for experiences before I reformat. Bonus cookie for anyone running dual-boot x86 and x64 on the same computer with a story.

That's just BS. Just because they have to be signed doesn't make them any better.

  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT driver for Vista x64

    Hello,
I have an issue with my new MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz 17" that was released on the 5th of June, 2007.
It has NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT installed on it and I simply cannot find Vista 64 bit drivers for it.
I have tried the latest beta Vista x64 drivers (163.11) downloaded from nVidia's official website. I have tried several previous versions including 100.97 one, which contains drivers for 8600M GT model. But they don't work with me. All the driver installation programs allert the following error and quit:
'The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit'.
I also tried Vista 32-bit drivers for 8600M GT. The driver installation program claims the operation system is wrong and quits.
    Anybody has the same issue?
Does a working driver of nVidia GeForce 8600M GT for Vista x64 exist at all?
MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz   Windows Vista   nVidia GeForce 8600M GT

There was one Apple's presentstion where they boot into Windows Vista. So if you claim you can do it why do you forget about Vista x64 customers? I reckon it is because of Leopard that is coming. But it's not an excuse.
I'm currently working in Vista x64 and everything is fine except one thing, I cannot find a working graphics card driver and it is manufacturer's responsibility to provide it. Apple knew there going to be customers who will install Vista x64 on their computers and they at Apple didn't care about it because I guess it's a lame war between you know who.
So why you don't make everything perfect to attract even more Windows customers but instead you hint that you don't care about Vista x64 as you are getting your own 64-bit OS soon. So now they are forcing me to wait having been announced that I can use Vista. But isn't that kind of lame that it's slightly tardy? Why I should wait for Leopard launch if I was insured that Windows will work on my Macbook Pro? Because Apple claim you can run Windows. And don't say it's not official. Who else if not Apple made it possible to run Windows on Mac.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just angry that I cannot find a working driver.

  • LR 1.3.1 freezes with Vista x64

Forgive me if this has been covered. I searched, but could not find anything.
I just did a clean install of Vista 64 (moved from XP), and a clean install of LR 1.3.1.
LR is freezing any time I open a "choose folder" dialog box. Normally (on XP), LR would open the "choose folder" dialog, and let me browse around and select a folder (for save/open, etc). But on Vista x64 it completely freezes, and I have to kill the LR process.
An example of where this dialog is used:
When I launch LR, it asks me if I want to backup the library. From the backup dialog, I can "choose the location" of the backup. When I click to choose the location, the "choose folder" dialog box comes up. It does not show any contents within it (no directory structure is listed), and now LR is completely frozen - no way out.
Has anyone else seen this on Vista x64? Is this a known issue? Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    A quick update...
Turns out that LR isn't frozen on the "choose folder" dialog box. It just sits for a long time, and then eventually displays the folders and everything works fine. The delay seems to be about 1-2 minutes, and then everything works.
And it doesn't happen every time I use that dialog box. But it seems to happen the first time I initiate that dialog from any particular module/function within LR (Export, Import, etc).

  • I wanted to buy a new Canon EOS 7D mark ii, but my computer's OS is Windows Vista x64.

Will the Canon software install? I think it is the Canon EOS digital solution disk Ver 29.1.

I was using Vista x64 until last week, and I came to the determination that the new Canon software was not going to work with it. Finally, I threw in the towel. I contacted Microsoft, and the tech support guy _claimed_ that the machine could be upgraded to Windows 7, but that it would require premium support ($99 fee). I thought about it and then agreed. The charge was initiated, and then this guy spent five hours trying to get there from here. Finally, he threw in the towel, and it is not as easy as he had thought. Then I went around and around with the supervisor about this. At a minimum, they had to reverse the fee. They claimed that they couldn't do that, either. So, let's just say that Microsoft is not at the top of my favorites list. So, after thinking about it a bit more, I decided to buy a new machine with Windows 7 on it (not Windows 8). The new Dell machine was purchased and then installed. After a while, I was able to install the new Canon software and other software successfully. By the next day, I discovered some technical problems on the new machine. Basically, there was a fault on the motherboard. So, I had to get Dell tech support involved. They remotely worked on it for hours, and then they threw in the towel. I had to get the supervisor involved, and he would offer me the option of taking the entire computer back to the store to get a total exchange. That was unacceptable because of all of my time spent installing software. Now, Dell is skating out over the horizon, so they are not at the top of my favorites list. They did say that they could have a technician dispatched to my location to swap out the motherboard (leaving the hard disk intact). It just was not worth all of this trouble. I'll fix the problem myself. The only thing working right is the Canon camera with its software.

  • PS CS4 on Vista x64 hangs when opening image...

I've checked the forums and cant find anything quite like this...
I've just installed (and updated) PS CS4 on a Vista x64 system - PS opens and seems to run just fine until I go to open an image (any image) - the image comes up but stays fuzzy and the program locks up and has to be terminated... this happens with both the 32bit and 64bit versions. I've tried turning off/on GPU acceleraton - ive tried changing parameters in the nvidia control panel - nothing seems to work... the workstation has two displays with oldish dual Quadro FX 3400 cards (no SLI) with the latest nvidia drivers and they seem to work very well for everything else...  its a puzzle...  short of trying different GPU's (which I dont have), what can be done?  any suggestions would be most welcome.

That model video card is not on the list of Adobe-tested cards here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405711&sliceId=2
So you may be out of luck.
You could do another check for updated drivers but I doubt there will be any.
Do you have the chance to try a newer card?
You could also try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.

  • Vista x64 Acrobat window won't maximize or restore properly

I have tried a couple times to run Windows Vista Ultimate x64, but there have been enough problems that I've decided to go back to 32-bit. One of these problems is with Acrobat 8.1.2 Pro.
Whenever I open a PDF in Acrobat, if the window opens fully maximized and I try to restore it to a smaller window, the PDF document does not resize accordingly. It is still zoomed in to the same size as when it was maximized and as a result, I can't see the scroll bar because it's off the window. If I open the PDF in a window that is a smaller restored window and then maximize it, the PDF document again does not resize and remains the same small size that it was in the restored window with the scroll bar in the middle of the now maximized window with just a bunch of useless gray area where the document should have expanded to. The same problem occurs when the window is manually resized as well.
The only workaround I've found is to close the document and reopen it so that the window starts off either maximized, restored, or the new size that you changed it to. This is a real pain, especially when you're in the middle of doing something in the middle of the document.

So I narrowed the problem down to Logitech's SetPoint software. I started from a clean install of Windows Vista x64, installed Acrobat first, and tested it after installing each driver or program. The problem started after installing SetPoint and would stop after closing it. I also found a post on Logitech's forum describing the problem with screen shots: http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=software_mice&message.id=10402 . So I thought I'd found the source of the problem, until I had my computer completely up and running except for the SetPoint software and discovered Acrobat was having the same problem! I have basically every program that I use regularly installed, so it won't be as easy to narrow it down this time. I tried stopping services and testing Acrobat with them stopped, but never got the problem to go away. Hopefully a solution will be found soon.

  • Vista x64 and PCIe X-Fi Titanium Optical Problems

I am running Vista x64 SP and I have the 2.7.0004 drivers installed and when I try to use Dolby Li've or DTS, I can't use because everything says the current device is in use. I can't get optical to work with my Z-5500 speakers. It works fine on my XP SP3 though. I have dual boot XP/Vista x64.
    E8400
    ASUS Rampage Formula
    4GB DDR 066MHz
    HIS ATI HD4870
    X-Fi Titanium
    XP-32bit SP3/Vista Ultimate-64
    Logitech Z-5500

something else to check even tho you maby already have done is checking if the checkboxes for full controll of the SPDIF is on in windows 7 (I dont know anything about 2008 so cant comment on that) but i know that that 2 checkboxes need to be checked for the digital sound to pass trough to the analog 6 channel wich is needed for your speakers.
just to be clear were talking about the same checkboxes as im not sure how its called in english exactly.
in windows 7 in the lower right? rightclick ont eh speaker and select playback devices
then select SPDIF out and select properties.
then go to advanced and make sure both checkboxes under exclusi've mode are checked.
from my experience it also highly depends on what program you use as not all movie/mediaplayers decode the digital signal to 6 channel analog correctly.
i myself prefer classic media player and in that program i had to rightclick the screen select the audio options and set to to decode to speakers from spdif.
i not sure how exactly your setup is set up but i know figuring out how everything should be set or even finding some settings is a massi've pain.

  • AC3Filter Dolby decoding on Xfi under Vista x64 - please he

How do I set up AC3filter to decode the signal from my satellite box optical in?I have the audio optical output from my Sky+ satellite receiver connected through the I/O module to my?X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro. My Creative Inspire T7700 7. speakers are connected directly?to my soundcard with the 7. audio cable. I can hear normal sounds fine through my system, but anything broadcast with DTS (DD) doesn't work - i guess because Vista does not support hardware decoding. So I'm trying to use A3filter to decode for me. However, I can't work out the settings I need to use. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Dolby Digital (DD/AC3) is completely different form DTS. I'm not sure that Sky transmits DTS, so assume thats a typo. Chances are that there is no support for incoming decode of multichannel audio via Creatives crap Vista drivers, compounded Vista's **bleep** DRM controls and removal or DirectSound. If that's the case then at most you will only get a stereo stream passed from the optical in to the soundcard, so any software like AC3Filter or FFDShow's direct sound filters wont work anyway. From the Vista FAQ:?Will decoding of Dolby Digital and DTS signals be supported in the future? If not, why not?
These functions are not supported at driver level in Windows Vista and going forward will be supported at application level by applications such as Power DVD or WinDVD.
Perhaps when/if Creative pull their finger out and get some proper drivers out there will be software support for decode of multichannel, (if there isnt already), although it begs the question of why Creative are incapable of doing the same at driver level or via their own software.

  • Getting static audio with Titanium and Vista x64 at random times

@Getting static audio with Titanium and Vista x64 at random times$ I have had this card for about 6-8 months and relati'vely no issues.
I just upgraded to the latest drivers 270006 and now, sometimes after exiting Turbine's Lotro, my audio plays but is very static-y, but it doesn't happen all the time. I had iTunes minimized when playing Lotro and then went to play a song after exiting. I quit iTunes and tried it again and it was ok.
This also happened in Firefox, a YouTube video had the same static audio.
It doesn't happen all the time and I do play other games, but I haven't been playing much else right now.
So right now I don't know if it's a Lotro thing or just the drivers.
    I have a Q9650, single GTX260, Asus P35 board (not SLI), Vista x64, 4GB.

Carl, do let us know on the Safe Mode test... would be the first thing I'd try with what you've mentioned, but yeah, daisy chained Hubs could possibly play into it.

When my notebook goes to sleep mode everything ok.power led is blinking. When I press Power Button fan starts wireless led is ok but screen is  black. And I m not able to start system till I unplug/plug AC and Battery

There is no problem in 32 bit vista home edition
I tried many Vga drivers. Now using moded 181.20
I tried all bios versions released on msi website.
All other drivers are up to date.
There are lots of users having same problem
I will be glad if anyone can help me.
    Thanks

They wouldn't, not officially. NVIDIA started to support gamers with laptops and will do it in future, regularly. But the real problem is, that most of other vendors have their GPUs supported in those drivers and MSI doesn't, it's completely missing NVMI.INF file. Note, that there is no universal INF file, but many of them named after vendors according to the NVIDIA's filename scheme.
But beta status has not to do with the fact those drivers are working and MSI products simply aren't there.
Other side of the issue is, that MSI is selling so called gaming laptops and didn't updated the drivers since, well, July 2008 (GX630, ForceWare 176.10) or September 2008 (GX620, Forceware 176.60). It just cannot keep up with game releases and bug fixes for new games included in every ForceWare release. This kind of support is simply not enough for the respective audience.
Don't understand me wrong - the products are excellent and even my brother just ordered GX630.
Back to the issue - guys, try to use newer drivers for GX620 if you have MSI laptop with NVIDIA - and yes, even when it's not GX620. All NVIDI GPU's should be supported, check the list:

  • What's going to happen to my X-Fi Platinum when I upgrade to Vista x64 and 4 gig of r

Need info fast. Am researching for my new system overhaul and read all the problems with Daniel K, driver support, July drivers, etc. I need to know if these problems have been addressed before i put my Platinum onto my new setup. x48 asus board, 4 gig ocz, vista x64, Radeon 4870x2, z5500. I love my X-Fi, but I won't even bother putting it back in if problems still exist and/or I'm told 'new drivers are on the way'; not an option for a component I paid $300 for.

Creative had nothing to do with DirectSound3D / surround sound issues in Vista. This was all MS. Microsoft removed the hardware layer for DirectSound3D, which prevents apps/games using DirectSound3D from accessing hardware directly. The result is that audio using DirectSound3D is processed on the CPU and will be limited to stereo-only.
Games that don't rely on DirectSound3D will still function normally in Vista. This limitation is for all sound devices, not just Creative.
Creative created a workaround for this so Vista users can still play DirectSound3D games with surround sound. This is ALchemy. ALchemy adds a .dll to each DirectSound3D game you select that will translate DirectSound3D instructions into OpenAL instructions.
OpenAL is an alternati've to DirectSound3D that has been used in games since 2003 or so. OpenAL on Vista is still allowed direct access to hardware and so will use your sound hardware for processing and speaker positioning.
Without something like ALchemy DirectSound3D games on Vista will be limited to stereo output only.
There are also games that use software-only audio rendering like the Miles Sound System that will be unaffected on Vista also. Only games that use DirectSound3D are affected.
EAX is a set of extensions to either DirectSound3D or OpenAL. EAX over OpenAL works fine in Vista, but DirectSound3D games won't be able to enable EAX effects because of Vista's removal of the DirectSound3D hardware abstraction layer.
ALchemy will allow you to enable EAX for these games as well.
For the most part ALchemy works pretty well. On a handful of games you need to do some tweaking (there are four settings you can change, although only two usually require any modification.) And fewer games are coming out that use DirectSound3D anyway, since Vista doesn't fully support it. More modern games are using OpenAL or software-based audio rendering.

  • ITunes and Windows 7 (or Vista) x64

    Hey there,
the current state with syncing my iPod under Windows Vista x64 and Windows 7 (RC) x64 is horrible. iTunes locks itself up for several minutes, syncing large Music libraries takes hours - and might break halfway through the progress. It's a shame that I have to experience such lacky behaviour from Apple Products.
Having ordered an iPhone 3Gs, I wonder if I'll experience the same trouble with it.
Will Apple make it to provide a working sync solution for Windows 7 x64?
Windows 7 is no longer pre release, so it's time to take some action. You should've downloaded the RTM copy of Windows 7 x64 already, MobileDeviceDriver Team.

Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380.
Error while opening iTunes CD driver. This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.
what typically works with the 2380s on 64-bit OSs (it hits XP too) is reinstalling the 64-bit version of the GEAR drivers that iTunes uses for burning and importing.
the GEAR drivers are available from the following page. note that there are two different versions of the 64-bit driver, so be sure to get the one that matches your hardware:
