Vista x64 SP2 & Reactivate

Something interesting is happening. AA has been on this computer for over a year.  After installing SP2 whenever I am on the net and I start AA 3.01 the activation screen pops up, and it seems I do an activation.
If I am not connected to the net, via my  wireless network where I have to log in, the activation screen does not pop up. Started doing this after installing SP2 x64.
Interesting.....
Duff

I found the problem. I had installed a VST demo version of Antares Autotune Harmony Engine and the needed the 64 bit iLOK driver.  Antares states that H-E may or may not work under VISTA x64.  I had installed H-E but had not tried it for a few days,  my troubled started after those few day when  I installed the iLOK driver. Uninstalling didn't get it all,  I had to manually clean it from my registery which seems to have resolved my problem.

  • Vista x64 SP2 Install Broke My Volume Panel

    Hi,
    As subject says.
I installed Vista x64 SP2 yesterday and now my microphone wont work because?in the control panel it says Microphone FP not connected.
This is obvious I dont have a front panel!
I used to change this in the Volume Panel and all would be well except now I have installed SP2 it wont let me load the volume panel.
It shows up in my task bar next to the clock and I can right click on it. It says Creative SB X-FI and I can select the Enable?DTS etc etc so the driver is installed ok but when I double click it to get the volume panel on screen nothing happens.
It doesnt even come up with an error.
I have tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling = nothing.
Then done an auto update, still nothing.

  • Ctxfihlp.exe has stopped working (Vista x64 SP2)

I'm running an X-Fi XtremeGamer and everything was working great until I just upgraded to SP2 of Vista. Ever since then, every time I restart my computer I get the "Ctcfihlp.exe has stopped working/repsonding" and I have to close the program. This happens on every reboot without fail. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Vista x64 drivers, but the same issue is present.
I know I can use msconfig to disable the program on startup, but would rather fix the problem vs simply ignoring it.
    Any thoughts?

  • MSI Eclipse SLI don't detect X-FI on vista x64 sp2, but XP detect it right

Why my X-Fi Extreme Audio detect as High Defenition Audio in windows, but in Everest it detect X-FI?
I can't install drivers for X-Fi. "Supported device not found"

    Quote
Hell it aint even a real EAX card. Couldn't even activate EAX 2.0 with on my old MSI Eclipse. All the games i tried it on simply said the card did not have EAX capability. What a crock >.<
Well, you knew what kind of X-FI Card you would get:  A Creative X-FI Extreme Audio.  This is a full featured Extreme Audio Card which has precisely the same features (and limitations (!)) of the retail version of this particular model:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_X-Fi#X-Fi_Xtreme_Audio
    Quote
    X-Fi Xtreme Audio
The entry-level model of the X-Fi series, the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio, does not actually have the EMU20K1 chip but is a re-branded Audigy SE, using the same family of chips (CA0106-WBTLF), and even the same drivers.[9] Thus, not only is all of the X-Fi–related processing performed in software, but it also lacks basic hardware acceleration just like the SB Live! 24-bit, the Audigy SE and other budget Soundblaster models. The X-Fi Xtreme Audio does not use the same drivers as the rest of the X-Fi family, some games do not recognize it as being "X-Fi capable hardware", and the device's hardware profile resembles that of older Live! and Audigy cards.
Furthermore, users have reported that it slows down some applications and games, and that rear sound in games (all) is muffled and of profoundly low quality.[16][17][18] Thus, even if the card is marketed as part of the X-Fi line, it does not belong to it technically, just like the Audigy SE doesn't technically belong to the Sound Blaster Audigy series. The card is not marketed as supporting the "X-Fi Gaming Mode" (but is still marketed as "X-Fi"), and there are no official implicit or explicit statements regarding its having hardware acceleration or not.
This applies to all X-FI Extreme Audio Cards.  What you are actually saying is:  The card is bad because the card (you knew you were getting) is bad.  This is a tautology of no argumentative value AND it has nothing to do with the board.

  • Microphone stuttering - Vista x64 & Audigy 2 ZS

    3Microphone stuttering - Vista x64 & Audigy 2 ZS? Hello,
since I've got no reply in the support pack thread, I post this new topic.
There is an issue with the microphone port of the Audigy 2 ZS running on Windows Vista 64-bit (SP2).
Voice input randomly begins to stutter after some uptime and only a restart of the computer temporarily fixes this problem - until the distortion occurs again.
I've tried many different driver versions (including the latest v2.8.000), but nothing changed. It seems only the 64-bit edition of Vista is affected by this.
At last an additional post, quoted from zan2828 in the support pack thread:
    Daniel_K,
Being that you are extremely familiar with Creative's drivers, I figured it would be best to address my question to you.
Are you aware of the microphone robotic voice issue with the Audigy 2 in Vista? I use x64 so I am unsure if this problem exists in 32-bit. Basically, every so often the microphone will stop accepting voice inputs properly, and the resulting output will either be filled with static, or sound like a robot.
The problem exists in voice chat programs (Steam, Ventrilo) and also the Windows Sound Recorder. A reboot will fix it but the problem comes back. A quick "Reset to Defaults" in the Control Panel sound options will sometimes fix it, but not always.
Is there something you can modify in the driver to fix it's If not, do you know exactly what is wrong with the code? If you cannot fix it, hopefully Creative will, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
    Thanks.

[url="http://connect.creativelabs.com/windows/Lists/Audigy%20Issues/DispForm.aspx?ID=37&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fconnect.cr eativelabs.com%2Fwindows%2FLists%2FAudigy%2520Issu es%2FAllItems.aspx">Creative Labs: Connect > Beta - Windows > Audigy Issues > Issue affecting Audigy and X-Fi on systems with 4GB RAM or more[/url]
When using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 series or X-Fi series sound card in a 64-bit Windows system with four gigabyte (4GB) RAM or more, various issues can be experienced. Often sound playback becomes jittery, choppy and noisy and recording fails to work. Sometimes you can record sound, but it's horribly noisy and scratchy. This happens with the latest 64-bit drivers for both product series, under Windows XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 RC 64-bit and other 64-bit Windows operating systems. The issue goes away if the computer can see only 32-bit amounts of RAM, as in 4GB of address space minus PCI addressing. On a 64-bit system with 4GB of RAM installed, disabling Memory Hole Remapping in the BIOS makes the issue go away, since there is no RAM amount above the memory hole address space. Consequently, disabling Memory Hole Remapping on a 64-bit system with more than 4GB of RAM does not solve the issue, since there is RAM above the 32-bit limit of address space. Many users have reported varying issues most likely relating to this, such as noisy input and output, corrupted audio and a complete loss of EAX and ALchemy functionality under all 64-bit Windows operating systems. Consider this report a collected issue observation for 64-bit Windows systems with more than 4GB of RAM installed and usable. This is a serious issue, affecting all 64-bit Windows systems. It is severely hurting customer trust and the Sound Blaster brand.

  • Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!

=Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!B Hey guys,
I have hooked a Teufel Concept G to my Audigy 2 ZS. The Speakers do not have internal cross mix, so unless the sound card provides a bass signal there will be NO bass at all. This has not been a problem under linux, since it automatically configures the sound card to send out bass, but very frustrating in Windows Vista x64. GTA4 is no fun without bass ;-)
After endless searching and messing with different drivers (breaking the whole vista sound system) I coincidently got bass redirection (and CMSS2 apparently) working today.
These are the steps I took:
. Fresh install of Windows Vista x64
    2. Installation of Audigy 2 drivers provided by WindowsUpdate, did not download from Creative Labs
    3. Use an old CtPanel-App which actually could activate bass redirection and CMSS2?
    I uploaded the App:?
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L6J0ZJVA
If you start the App it will take ages until it pops up, but then it works just fine. Feedback appreciated!
    regards
    Tiedemate?

I also have the same problem, sound stop working after getting SP2, I updated vista to SP2 because I want to update to windows 7, with win 7 I have try all the drivers without success I still have no sound and with some drivers I get a blue screen. After 2 restarts windows 7 ask me to fix the problem with restore and vola everything works ok but no sound.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro in Vista x64: "Skipping" (Distortion) when record

Hi! I've just setup Vista x64 and installed the latest Drivers for my Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro. Besides the fact that there's no software available for convenient control of the features of my soundcard (Surround Mixer, Speaker Settings, THX Console etc.), everything is fine for playback (after adjusting the bass and treble-sliders to their 0dB-Position!). But I've got a massive problem when recording audio, or when using the microphone: I can play back sound from any source without distortion, but when recording it or using the microphone for VoIP-Applications like Skype, Teamspeak or In-game communication, I get a constant "skipping" distortion like the clicking when a CD is defective and skips.
It sounds like short disruptions which come at regular, very short intervals (approx. 0 per second or so). This effect is always present, irrespective of the load situation of the system and does not change with it. In XP32, my Audigy 2ZS still works like a charme. Furthermore, I've got a "PCI Input Device" in Device Manager with a question mark, although the Firewire-Port does work. Could this be the Gameport not beeing recognised But that's not nearly as problematic as the flaw from above... Thanks in advance for your advice!

I'd like to also add that I have been observing this same problem for quite some time now. While I do not frequently have a need to record, that is changing now and I would rather not have to reboot to Windows XP in order to have functional recording capabilities.
I am currently running a dual-boot configuration of Windows XP/SP2 and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit/SP, with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum soundcard, and the latest drivers available for the card as of today's date (0/7/2008).
A clip of audio to illustrate the problem may be heard by saving and playing the MP3 file found at http://ambress.com/audigy/audio_recording_fault.mp3. The following graphic also illustrates how the sound is like a series of recorded pulses, making recording completely useless.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback confirming this problem by Creative and what solution is available or when one is to be expected. If a solution is known by any users that perhaps I have missed in searching the forum, of course I'd be grateful for that help as well.
    Thank you,
    Daryl

  • P6N diamond - Vista x64 install problem

    Hey.
I’m the happy owner of a MSI P6N Diamond, but I have some problems when I try to install Vista.
My system as it is now:
    CPU: E6600
    GFX: 7900GT
    RAM: 2x1gb Cell Shock PC6400
Running XP SP2 without problems on 2x36gb raptors in RAID0
Yesterday I decided to try Vista x64, because I have 2gb extra ram that I want to use. So I took one of my old IBM PATA 120gb HDDs, and tried to install vista x64, but then I ran into a problem. When I get to the point where it says "Completing Installation" and "Your Computer will restart several times during installation" It restarts but then nothing happens. The screen just went black (and the monitor is switching off), and I can hear the computer is still running (and there is still light in mouse and keyboard). If I try to restart, the the vista loading bar appears and then the same thing happens. Black screen and then nothing.
    What to do?
I have tried disconnecting all my other drives and I have tried with only one memory block (1gb)
    Hope somebody can help me
    /Christian

    Inside,
I had similar issues when I first installed Vista and I don't think it installed correctly as it is...
One thing I noticed was that the Memory in particular is undervolted with this board if the bios is set to auto. Make sure you manually set the voltage to your RAM manufacturers voltage. Do the same thing with the timings and speed...
I had everything set to auto at first and I couldn't even get Vista to unpack 100% until I manually set things...
I need to reinstall windows I think because my installation is still messed up as I didn't change the timings until I started getting BSOD on first boot... Try it let us know if it works.

    Hello,
Are you trying to install SQL Server on a compressed or encrypted drive? SQL Server won’t install on a drive/folder with these attributes.
Are you trying to install SQL Server on a ReFS file system? It is not supported on SQL Server 2012.
Disable any security/antivirus software and download the media again. Mount the media (.ISO file) and try to install again.
    Hope this helps.

  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT driver for Vista x64

    Hello,
I have an issue with my new MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz 17" that was released on the 5th of June, 2007.
It has NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT installed on it and I simply cannot find Vista 64 bit drivers for it.
I have tried the latest beta Vista x64 drivers (163.11) downloaded from nVidia's official website. I have tried several previous versions including 100.97 one, which contains drivers for 8600M GT model. But they don't work with me. All the driver installation programs allert the following error and quit:
'The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit'.
I also tried Vista 32-bit drivers for 8600M GT. The driver installation program claims the operation system is wrong and quits.
    Anybody has the same issue?
Does a working driver of nVidia GeForce 8600M GT for Vista x64 exist at all?
MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz   Windows Vista   nVidia GeForce 8600M GT

There was one Apple's presentstion where they boot into Windows Vista. So if you claim you can do it why do you forget about Vista x64 customers? I reckon it is because of Leopard that is coming. But it's not an excuse.
I'm currently working in Vista x64 and everything is fine except one thing, I cannot find a working graphics card driver and it is manufacturer's responsibility to provide it. Apple knew there going to be customers who will install Vista x64 on their computers and they at Apple didn't care about it because I guess it's a lame war between you know who.
So why you don't make everything perfect to attract even more Windows customers but instead you hint that you don't care about Vista x64 as you are getting your own 64-bit OS soon. So now they are forcing me to wait having been announced that I can use Vista. But isn't that kind of lame that it's slightly tardy? Why I should wait for Leopard launch if I was insured that Windows will work on my Macbook Pro? Because Apple claim you can run Windows. And don't say it's not official. Who else if not Apple made it possible to run Windows on Mac.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just angry that I cannot find a working driver.

  • Bass Redirect in Vista x64 w/ XI-FI 2.13.0

    Hi everyone,
My apologies if this question has already been answered (and often,) but I couldn't find it while searching.
Anyway, on my old PC with Windows XP (and then Vista) 32 bit, I was able to use my X-Fi's bass redirect function to spread out the bass over my front speakers. I've since moved my soundcard to a new PC featuring Windows Vista x64, and I can no longer find this feature.
Does anyone know if the latest Vista drivers (2.3.002) support bass redirect, and if so, how I might locate the feature?
My card is a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Edition. Btw, I thankfully haven't experienced any other problems with the card / driver / OS combination. The card sits in an nForce 680i moBo and is situated in the lone PCI slot between the two PCI-E x6 slots.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

Hmm.. Very interesting. I'm downloading now (hopefully it will be finished by the time I arri've home from work -- it's a very sllllloooow download at 20 Kpbs.) Btw, does anyone know if this works on Vista x64 as well?

  • ITunes will not work on Fresh INstall of Vista x64 SP1

I have a strange issue. I have a Windows Vista x64 with SP1 (Yes the DVD is a production DVD from Microsoft not a slip stream copy.) and I wanted to do a fresh install of Vista with SP1. Reinstalled OS and everything is running great but iTunes. When I start iTunes I get this error message about "mssip32.dll" being damaged or corrupt please reinstall the app. So I looked around good old Google and apple.com. I found several fixes about re-registering a set of dll files. So did them all, no change. Reinstalled Vista from scratch again, no change. So for the heck of it I reinstalled Vista with no SP1 installed and then applied SP1 and it works fine. I reinstalled Vista with SP1 and have been running it for over a week and everything on the system is tested and solid as a rock with no issues. The only program that will not work is iTunes. I have also tried all the way back to version 7.4 and no luck.
    Any ideas on this?

  • Vista X64 Drive Management Snap-In Error with SD Cards

I have someone with an W700, 2752-3KG, running Vista X64, raid 1 configuration with factory image. The system also has a VM with XPP X86 in case it proves relevant.
Everything works like a dream, except for one thing which has got us completely stumped. When an SD card is inserted it is recognized as new hardware as expected. There is no autorun, i.e. Open folder / play music window, as this was disabled when the VM was set up. In drive management the SD card will be shown, but alas not assigned a drive letter. Any attempt to assign a drive letter results in the following message; (translated from German to English using translate.google.com)
"The operation could not be completed because the view
of the Disk Management snap-ins is not current. Refresh your view with the
update task. If the problem persists, close the Disk Management snap-in, and
then restart the Disk Management snap-in or the computer."
    [Original screenshot attached 203KB]
The usual routine of updating / rolling back of drivers, uninstalling the hardware etc. etc has been tried to no avail.
The SD cards work fine on other TPs including W700s with Vista X64, X86 and XPP X86, they also work fine on this system when using an USB card reader
What hasn't been tried is running a recovery to another hdd. As the system is used daily this would mean blowing part of a weekend. And if a weekend is going to be partly blown, then I'd rather blow it completely and reinstall everything from scratch which would be a shame because, as previously stated, everything else is running 110%.
Has anyone experienced similar? Any ideas? I've searched MS thoroughly without finding anything
    Thanks in advance

You may want to try a few different SD cards, there are apparently some which do not play well with Vista.
Personally I haven't had any issues with a 2GB SanDisk SD card running as ReadyBoost in an X61 under Vista Ultimate x64.
