Vista64 Bluetooth Mighty Mouse scroll wheel SOLVED

I don't know if this has been answered elsewhere, but I spent a great deal of time trying to figure out why my scroll wheel wasn't working in Vista64. If you're running a "Pro" model, use your system restore disc 1 and look for the boot camp installer for 64. No problems, no "KeyAgent" or "MacHAL" installation problems at all. Hope this helps and isn't redundant.

Could it be that your mouse has dirt inside affecting the ball to scroll? I had a mighty mouse for just over a year when it stopped scrolling down. They are very difficult to take apart and clean. It would also void its warranty. If it's still within its warranty I would take it back and ask for a replacement. I'm not very impressed with the mighty mouse.

  • Mighty Mouse scroll wheel in 10.3.9

    Hi,
I just got my bluetooth mighty mouse yesterday, It works great even though
I only have 10.3.9. All the buttons work, the only thing that is not working for me is the scroll wheel moving from right to left. Has anyone had this problem? Is there any software that will help with this? The only thing is, i don't what anything to happen to any of the other buttons, because everything else works great!
    Thanks
    Dave

I believe the booklet that came with the mouse explains what features work with each version of Mac OS X (I can't remember the page - I don't have the booklet to hand at the moment); I would expect the scroll ball to work with 10.3.9...

  • NEWBIE-Using Mighty Mouse scroll wheel to control Color's SMH wheels

Hi, new here & new to Color, working thru Ripples iTunes Color tutorials right now. Loving Color so far. I hope to be back with less rudimentary questions one day but here's the 1st:
Lacking a dedicated hardware interface, I'd hoped the Might Mouse scroll wheel would drive the shadow midtone and hilight wheels. I've tried various permutations in system prefs but no dice. Have I missed something? Thank you.

nadsta, I've found using a ShuttlePRO2 unit very handy. It's cheap, and I can map whatever shortcut I want, and then I use a Wacom tablet for the color wheel adjustments.
I've mapped the ShuttlePRO to jump between grade 1-4, and the different rooms I use the most (primary in/out, secondaries, color fx), turning grade on/off, set/delete keyframes and adjust keyframe type, two buttons for ALT/OPT and SHIFT modifiers which comes in very handy for selecting and adding to a color selection (in secondaries for instance) or holding ALT while click-and-drag in the color wheels and different parameters around the interface.
It's not perfect, but I can at least do some things in less time than I would using the keyboard.

  • Mighty Mouse Scroll wheel disfunction

    Hello
The scroll wheel on my mighty mouse does not function correct at the moment. When I scroll down, it works, although it skips a bit up and down. But when I try to scroll up, either nothing happens, or it scrolls down. This has happened before, where I've just turned it over onto a piece of paper and pushed around the scroll button a little, until it worked. But this time, that won't do the trick. It also makes a faint clicking noise.
    Any suggestions?
    Rune

Hi, try a little rubbing alcohol on a piece of soft cloth (handkerchief) give the ball a good 360°
on the cloth..up/down & roundNround..If the MM is under warranty or you have Applecare Apple will replace it for you..I believe your local store will exchange if you have your computer details & receipt etc....L

  • Mighty Mouse scroll wheel support

Is it possible to use a Mighty Mouse's scroll wheel to scroll in Shake as in any other OS X program? It's not responding for me (nothing scrolls, and I have to manually drag the scroll bar up and down). Is there a fix for that? (Even better, can I also use the scroll wheel for panning around the node view, timeline, etc. instead of middle-click+dragging? That gets tedious.)

O~ho! I got it to work, actually. You can install SteerMouse (http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/) instead of Apple's driver, and you configure it so that, at least in Shake (it allows per-application configuration), the scroll wheel is set to "x scroll" instead of "acceleration scroll". Huzzah! Shake's interface is now a bit less awful!

  • Mighty Mouse Scroll Wheel

    Hi Gang
    How's everyone doin?
I suspect the tiny little button wheel in the middle of the mighty mouse is not working properly? I can get it to scroll upward, but not downward. And it does it's job as it goes from side to side. Just can't get it to scroll downward.
Time for a new mouse with scroll wheel?
BTW - went to system preferences everything's checked there correctly.
    Thanx guys

    Hi-
The scroll balls get gummed up with dirt and skin oil.
There are a few ways to clean it, as this search reveals:
    Clean Mighty Mouse.
Start with the paper strip tick, then move on to disassembly if necessary.

  • Bluetooth laser mouse scroll wheel in games

Hi, my mouse works perfectly ... but ... when playing games, the scroll wheel doesn't work. Just a scroll button. I can't bind any action to "mouse wheel up/down". Everything seems fine in mouse settings properties and everything works good in a browser etc. Solution pls ? My driver is v6.23, nb is SL500 + Vista

I wonder if you need to fully disable the magic mouse driver and do more to get the service uninstalled.
Or find a newer device ? Couldn't find anything newer than this.

  • Help with Bootcamp (Speakers and mighty mouse scroll wheel not working)

So I just loaded bootcamp onto my macbook but I'm having some problems.  First, my scroll bar on my mighty mouse doesn't work when in Windows.  The only help I've seen online has been for those who haven't yet loaded windows.  Can I still download a driver that will help me out?  My speakers also are not working and the Realtek driver that everyone said worked for them didn't work for me.  Advice?

Sorry, this is not possible in the current version of Firefox, but we have an open bug report where we are tracking this issue here:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686228
With luck it will be fixed in a future version.

  • Custom Right-Click Options with Mighty Mouse (scroll-wheel)

Is there a way to add custom actions to the contextual right-click menu on the mighty mouse? Or a program that will allow me to do that? I am looking to add a script or other items to the right-click menu options.

this has nothing to do with the kind of mouse you are using. you can add items to the right-click menu by creating a service. you can make your own using automator.
also, some applications install services when you install the applications and there are a number of built in services available. you can check system preferences->keyboard->keyboard shortcuts->services and activate the ones you want.

  • Might Mouse scroll wheel indesign

(oops I thought this category was "other" hardware products. Why isn't there a category for keyboards and mice??)
I want to thank Apple for being forward looking in all aspects of design, formost the input devises. The new keyboard is amazing. Thanks. The Mighty Mouse is the first decent Apple mouse since pre-G3 days. In fact it is a very nice mouse – for 2 months.
My Mighty Mouse stopped scrolling after 2 months of heavy use. I took it to the Genius Bar, they told me it was dirty and sprayed air into it. It worked great again for another 4 days. That was April. I've just learned to live without it since then – occasionally trying to spray air into it to no avail.
    I found this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1243940
which gives us a simple how-to on cleaning the mouse. I can figure that out myself.
Does anybody know how to break open the mighty mouse so I can actually clean it?
I am a very clean person. If it takes two months for me to clog up the scroll wheel, somebody else has got to have a solution? I fear any professionals who use a Mac day in and day out must be using a third party mouse. I've not had any problems with a third party optical mouse ever – after many years of use. My Mighty Mouse's scroll wheel is really terrible.
    My questions are:
    A) How do I open up the mighty mouse so I can clean it?
    B) Is there a third party mouse that scrolls left and right and connects via bluetooth?
    C) Is apple reinventing the wheel again? Seriously.
Okay, I had to vent. Better than throwing this thing against the wall.

    A) How do I open up the mighty mouse so I can clean it?
    You can't without breaking it.
    B) Is there a third party mouse that scrolls left and right and connects via bluetooth?
There are other scroll-ball mice (the only ones I know of that have dual-axis scroll), but they'll have the same problem though some might be easier to clean. As a possible help for the problem with your current mouse, perhaps this will help:
    http://theappleblog.com/2008/09/27/revive-your-mighty-mouse-scroll-ball/
    C) Is apple reinventing the wheel again?
Constantly. Apple has applied for a patent on a mouse with a touchpad rather than a mechanical ball, but whether such a product will ever make it to market is unknown.

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse In Win XP Pro In Boot Camp

I just went and bought a bluetooth mighty mouse for my macbook. On the mac side it works great, but when i go to pair it to the windows side (or any other windows machine) it can see it but it always asks me for a pin.
does anyone have this problem or know what to do. I really wanna use this on the windows side of things too!!

Works great for me using basic functions - left/right click and scroll wheel.
I had first paired and named the mouse under OS X.
I booted into Windows XP Pro/SP2. The BT drivers did not work. I uninstalled the Apple drivers by running the installer, rebooted, reinstalled, and rebooted.
Note that you have to Ok unsigned drivers.
One the second boot, a dialog showed the BT drivers being installed. After everything settled down, I opened the BT Control Panel and asked to add the driver.
As soon as it started scanning, I pressed the right mouse button and turned the mouse on with the slide switch.
It showed up within less than 5 secs. I selected it, and a dialog asked for a key assignment. I let the computer assign the key.
Now it works like a charm, whether OS X or Windows is booted.
This mouse is great - it works on all surfaces, and no more chord!

    Some other info:
You  know that you can control Photoshop input fields http://screencast.com/t/ApVseKYRxz with the mouse scroll wheel. Pretty handy indeed. You just have to click on the field and spin the wheel and values changing.
    The problem:
My mouse wheel cannot control the input fields in this way. I select the field, spin the wheel and nothing happen. When I spin it faster a couple of times, than the values get changing - pretty strange ha? Scrolling normally - do not change, scrolling fast change. But to scroll fast is not an option because I cannot change the values slightly with small increments... There is a bug really...
What I tried and didn't work:
    1. Restarted Photoshop
    2. Plug/Unplug and change different USB slots for both receivers.
    3. Reintalling latest SetPoint Drivers (after uninstall I run ccleaner)
    4. Put all SetPoint settings to defaults (because I programmed some mouse keys to Photoshop specifically).
    5. Install earlier versions of SetPoint drivers.
    6. Set my UEFI BIOS to defaults.
    7. Restarted the BIOS to load all the drivers again, but still no luck
(the last think I didn't do is to reinstall Photoshop)
What I have investigated so far:
    1. When I restart the computer and run Photoshop it works perfect HA! , but after a seconds it do not words again ...
    2. When I stop SetPoint software, when I shut down it, it words perfect.
    3. When I unplug keyboard receiver it words perfect, but I do not have keyboard:)
    4. Everything works perfect in Illustrator and After effects.
    5. Also I noticed that when I scroll images in CameraRaw - http://screencast.com/t/xKnn6cY9 the I have to scroll harder and spin the wheel harder to scroll - the same problem.
    6. Also in photoshop and bridge scrolling here - is pretty smooth and works perfect - http://screencast.com/t/75IXMG6Zria
Maybe the most important part - When I start experiencing the problem:
I had same configuration , same everything and everything worked fine.
I installed SSD disk, reinstalled Windows (same like before), updated my BIOS to UEFI. Installed Photoshop and SetPoint and problem started.
Posted same request to Logitech, but want to ask you for help too.
    Thanks!

    Hi all,
    I found a solution.
    1. Uninstall your current Setpoint Driver.
    2. Run CCleaner - http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
    3. Download an older version of SetPoint - http://www.oldapps.com/setpoint.php
    (I used SetPoint 6.15 (x64), I tried 6.20, 6.32, 6.50 , but no luck)
    4. Now everything is all right!
    Thanks!
Can somebody mark this as solved? Thanks!
    SK

  • Mouse scroll wheel not working correctly.

Just installed Firefox 4 and my mouse scroll wheel is not working correctly. When opening the program, I can scroll as normal for about 5/10 minutes. Then, suddenly, the mouse scroll wheel no longer works. I've since found that it is actually scrolling outside of Firefox. E.g. I had Outlook open and it was scrolling through my Outlook even though Firefox was the open window. I checked this multiple times and it always seems to be the case.
Checked about:config as advised, everything looks correct on the mousewheel settings (i.e everything is set to default). Mouse drivers are up to date. No problems with any other programs. This issue started occurring in Firefox 4 beta. I switched back to 3.6 so I could continue scrolling. Updating to Firefox 4 caused the issue to recur.

It seems a lot of people are having problems with the Mighty Mouse's scroll ball. I actually thought I was done for after just a few weeks of using my first (wired) one. But here I am years later with my wireless variant, beeing perfectly happy with it (in case you don't know, the wireless Mighty Mouse is a much better option due to it's laser based tracking system). In my experience, getting rid of fluff that interferes with the ball is quite easy on both types. Try blowing really hard directly at the trackball (optionally while you press it down with some pointed device) a few times. Rotate it and repeat as needed. Alternatively roll the mouse upside down on the microfiber cloth that probably came with your Mac.

  • Another Mighty Mouse Scroll-Ball Problem

    Hi,
I bought my bluetooth mighty mouse around October of last year, and ever since I've had it the scroll ball will get choppy and then stop working.
I use a cloth to scrub the ball so it'll at least move, and that seemed to work okay.
But today, I scrubbed the mouse and it made the ball get pushed down into the mouse.
It'll still scroll, but I can't middle click. Plus, there's room all around the ball for more dirt to get in.
    What should I do?

Do I just call AppleCare to fix this (like I would if I had a problem with my iMac)?
I'm not familiar with Apple's warranty stuff when it comes to keyboards, mice, and other non-computer hardware.
    Thank you

  • Mighty Mouse Scroll Issue - Application Specific

So, I just got a bluetooth Mighty Mouse and have a strange issue. I have one program where it simply won't scroll? All other programs function properly, so I have a decent connection. It's just this one database program (Panorama), which runs our business applications that won't scroll?
I already have a BT Mighty Mouse on my laptop and it works fine with this program? Any thoughts as to where to begin trouble shooting? I've tried everything I could think of and don't know what else to try.

No help huh? I have spent literally hours trying to figure this out. One solution, which I can't try is reinstalling the software for the bluetooth wireless mouse. This really ticks me off...I just ordered this machine and it arrived a couple of days ago, set it up and all is fine except for this issue. I'm going through the package shipped to me by Apple (I upgraded my keyboard and mouse to bluetooth when I configured the machine and ordered in online from apple). THERE IS NO DISK FOR THE WIRELESS KEYBOARD OR MOUSE IN THE PACKAGE!!! What the heck. Shouldn't there be? I can't seem to find the software anywhere on line, so how am I supposed to reinstall the software to see if that clears my problem? Aaaahhhh.....
