A setting in visual administrator gets overwritten when a developer publish
Hello
Due to problems with logon groups a SAP consultant told me to uncheck "Add Application Cookie" and "Add Session Cookie" in Visual Administrator -> Cluster -> Server -> Services -> Web Container -> sap.com/home~[my app] -> View -> Main -> "Cookie Configuration". This works fine and solves that problem but instead I get a new one. Every time a developer publish something my setting gets overwritten and I need to uncheck it again, save and then restart the j2ee engine again to make it work.
I can not get in touch with this consultant again (he don't answer any email) and not anyone on my company knows how to set it permanent so I hope any of you know how to set this permanently so I don't have to do this every time a developer does something new.
I use NW 7.0 with patchlevel 109044.44 on HP-UX with IA64. I have the same problem on every server.
Thank you in advance!
Br Linus HellsingHello again
We have solved this problem thanks to an employee at my company. The problem was that we didnt have any file called web-j2ee-engine.xml so we created this and set a couple of options in the developers program and then it worked.

Unable to connect visual administrator SP09 99% hangs up
Hello:
I have portal SP09, java 1.4.2_12, and when I try to enter to the visual administrator it hangs up in 99%, and in the console it shows a java.lang.nullpointerexception,
at com.sap.engine.services.adminadapter.gui.clustereview... etc
Anybody knows how to fix this?
Thanks
Mario GHi,
Add the parameter <b>-DP4ClassLoad=P4Connection</b> to your Go.bat file.
This is a fix from SAP. In SP 19 and so the parameter is already added in the Go.bat file. Restar your Portal cluster and check if the VA works.
Hope this helps.

Visual Administrator hangs at 99 per cent
Netweaver 2004s SR2 MS Sql Server Unicode Windows Server 2003 edition installed successfully with usage types As Java and DI. Visual Administrator does nangs at 99 per cent. First time I got ping connection lost. Now it hangs at 99 per cent. SAP MMC all nodes are green. Can connect to the server using the URLs and can run the Java examples.
Visual Admin log says:
P4RuntimeException:java.net.SocketException:No bufferspace available(maximum connections reached?): recv failed.
Increased the number of jdbc connections to 50 and VA is not coming up.
Any help appreciatedPlease check Re: visual administrator can connect to SAP j2EE engine Quite a long thread but you might find some useful clue from this. Long back I once faced this error and found some relevant note but could not check as the ServiceMarketPlace seems to be down now.

Error while connecting to Visual administrator - Server0 getting Restarted
Hi Experts,
Kindly help me to Tune the JVM Parameters For AS Java ( Enterprise Portal 7)
We are Having our Development Portal on a 32-bit Machine and recently we have migrated the same to a 64-Bit with SAP OS/DB. We are Using IBM DB2 9.1 Fix pack 2.
Now I have to Configure the Java Virtual machine (JVM) Parameters for the EP instance in the 64-bit Hardware. The Hardware details are as Follows :
Ram - 10 GB
Paging Memory - 25 GB
OS - Win 2k3 - SP2
HDD - 500 GB
Current JVM Parameters : For (Server0)
-XX:MaxPermSize=256M
-XX:PermSize=256M
-Xms2048M
-Xmx2048M
-XX:NewSize=171M
-XX:MaxNewSize=171M
Now when iam connecting to Visual Administrator (VA) with administrator it is connecting upto 20 % - 25 % and giving a error - (Ping Timeout - connection to server Lost) and the Server0 is Restarting.
i have modified Xmx and Xmx to 3072 and restarted the J2ee Engine. And now for some time it is ok and again giving the same error.
And modifying the Server0 JVM parameters is sufficient or we have to modify Instance --> Servers General JVM Parameters Too ?**
i Believe this is the problem with JVM Parameters. Correct me if iam wrong
Please Help me to solve this Issue
Thank in Advance

Visual Administrator for XI hangs at 99%
Hi All,
My XI server was running fine. I was doing a SOAP to RFC scenario. Suddenly, it didnt respond(Donno the reason). So I restarted the server.
After I restarted the XI machine, the status in SAP Management console is Green. But when I try to access the XI page, it doesn't come up. But the page "http://<host>:<port>/index.html" comes up. I tried to open up the Visual Administrator. But it stops at 99% while connecting.
I looked at some of the log files. In the folder, \user\sap\SID\Instance\Work, I looked at std_server0.out file. Here I saw the error below:
Service monitor started. (23984 ms).

From the above error, it seems com.sap.aii.af.cpa.svc didn't start. But as the VIsual Admin is not, I am unable to start this service.
FYI, the JDK installed on my XI machine is JDK_1.4.2_07.
Someone please let me know, whats the problem behind this Visual Admin Start up?

Can't Log into J2EE Engine Visual Administrator
I cannot get logged into our J2EE Engine Visual Administrator on our SAP Portal. After I enter my userid and password (which I know are valid) I get a progress bar which progresses to approx 50%, then errors out with the message: 'Error while connecting. Cannot open connection on host: <IP-address> and port: <port>'
I found this document to troubleshoot the problem:
https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-29070?treeid=DOC-7447
It says the problem is likely that the P4 port is incorrect or the wrong transport layer is selected in my connection string. It suggests using the config tool to find the P4 port and has a diagram showing the port in the local properties. When I go to my config tool, I am missing the Local Properties box. My screen only shows the Global Properties. Is there somewhere else to check the port. I am pretty sure I have the right port because if I try to connect using an incorrect port I get the error message instantly.
The transport layer in my connection string is 'default'.
Can anyone help? Thanks.
Our Visual Administrator version is 6.40 Support Pack 22. The java version is 1.4.2_13.Hi Kathryn,
P4 port is used for connecting to VA. P4 port will be 5<Inst no>04.
Please check if you have this port while connecting to VA. You can check this port in the index page of your portal.
Can you try restarting the portal instance ??
Also you need not enter userID for logging into VA. By default it uses "administrator" user.
You may also check if the administrator user is locked.
Revert if the issue persists.
Cheers.,

Ping time out, server connection is lost in visual administrator after java
Dear all,
Recently I have done system copy for XI system. I have imported the java import after importing the abap stack into the target system as java add in abap. The import phase finished successfully and java engine is also working well.
I have confirmed this by moving to the browser page " http://hostname:50000/ and XI system http://hostname:50000/rep ". Everything is working fine and in MMC console as well.
But while trying to log in to visual administrator i am getting the error message as " ping time out, connection to server is lost "

Integration Directory is getting hanged when trying to do some changes
Hello All,
Ours is PRD XI 3.0 env...and when we try to do any changes(editing , activating , rejecting the changes) it gets hangs up with out throwing any error.
At the same time other java tools(IR,RWB,SLD) are properly accessible .
Some points to be taken into notice:
1>Even we tried to do a CACHE refresh SXI_CACHE , which is success with out any problems.
2>After entering into ID , when trying to do "clear SLD cache " also it gets hangup.
Can any one help us to fix this issue.
Best Regards
Rakeshtry the following;
1. close IR/ID.
2. open java web start
3. Preferences -> advanced -> clear folder
then try to open IR and ID.
this should do the trick

Visual Administrator - Login Problem
hi all,
I am having problem starting visual administrator.since i am a new user here, i am provided with the user id/password ( not Administrator UID/PW ) and told that it has necessary authorizations.
when i try to start the VA by using my UID/PW and given connection paramters with the http port 55000,
Getting an error- unable to look up a connection "name i gave"
unable to lookup connection with the parameters "name i gave : port"
Lookup connection via message server - ( i chose this option while creating connetion paramters )
Direct connection to a dispatcher node
what am i doing wrong ? don't i have necessary permissions or i need to use the administrator and password ?
And we have two instances ( MD1 & MD2 ) running on the same server..how do i get the diiferent instance in VA by giving the same http port 55000 ?
I am not able to login..please help.
AddyNicholls,
I mentioned it wrongly..The P4 port was 55004 only..but the message server port shows only 3960.
> The Java message server port is normally 81xx, where xx is the instance number of SCS. I can't guess what that value is, but it is often 1 number higher than the CI number (in your case 50, which means SCS of 51).
The CI is 50..but why do we calculate 81xx ? And i always check the system info page only for any port information..that shows me only 3960.
Is it how we need to calculate for message port ( 81xx )...I was not knowing that..!
Now, I tried with 8151 also as per your guidance..but, no luck..:-(
Thanks!
Addy
