Visual aids in Dreamweaver CS5.5 is disabled

Dreamweaver CS5.5 Visual Calendar

I'm using Dreamweaver CS5.5 (Master Collection) and am looking for an extension to add a small visual calendar to my site. I would need to have different multiple calendars on various pages. I found Dreamweaver ASP Event Calendar extension and wanted to know if anybody has used this and what their opinion is. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks!

Dreamweaver table border visual aids

When using tables in dreamweaver I can't see the dotted
borders to help me see where rows and cells are. I am using
standard mode and have check visual aids for table widths and
borders. Both are turned on. I have searched extensively for a
solution to this and the most information I have found was on
forums where the only advice was to reinstall - which to me doesn't
sound right. Perhaps this is a bug - but it seems as if there
should be a preference to turn on, which I have yet to find.

Help! Split and Design modes in Dreamweaver CS5 is disabled.

The first time I launched Dreamweaver CS5 I didn't like the default code / design view my files appeared in. So I choose a preference setting where files appear in a single pane in code view. Unfortunately I don't remember where this setting is located. I'm not sure if this is the culprit but I somehow lost the ability to toggle Split, Design, Live Code, Live View, and Inspect on any web file (.html, .htm, .asp, etc.). Could someone help me figure out how to enable these modes?

I am having the same problem, except the solution suggested by John Waller isn't working for me.
I opened a .css file and was prompted by a suggestion above the code/design windows stating "Inspect mode is most useful with certain workspace settings." and I clicked the "Switch now" option to which I was trapped in a code only mode without the option to edit anything other than css!
Please help.

Dreamweaver CS5 design view background is black, how can I stop this?

Hey everybody! I have a problem with Dreamweaver CS5's design view only showing a black background. I can create a brand new html document either as a standalone file or as part of a site and it will show a completely black background wheather it's saved or not. This also is a problem with pages that I have already created and with pages created with a Dreamweaver pre-installed template. I can't see anything unless it's not black. It is not affected by background colors either, in fact background colors don't show on anything I make; it's all black! The strange fact about this is that any given page will display just fine in Live View or in any web browser. Thanks in advance, I really need the help on this because I need to use the design view to position elements (which is a lot easier to do than guessing what would look best in code view).

I have changes from Dreamweaver CS5 to CC and it appears all my existing files have a black background in design mode but when I switch to "live" view it looks like it should and does on the net.
New files tend to look as they should. Although this change to CC is very recent. It seems like a configuration / preference issue that I can't find an answer for.
I have a work around at the moment.
Select view in menu -> visual aids -> CSS layout backgrounds
This makes all the CSS areas different colours, but you can see black text and items.
Selecting "LIVE" allows you to see what it is actually like.

Dreamweaver CS5 fails to open XP-Resolution Here!

Hi,
We had an issue with Dreamweaver CS5 opening under a standard user on XP Pro SP3.
The resolution....
Open msconfig and disable everything to do with Adobe. Simple! Don't mess with config files, re-install; it doesn't work! Stopping Adobe things from running seems to so far.
Before Dreamweaver will show the green startup box and then completly close, no error, warning, crash, etc.
The proceedure as follows:-
Start > Run... type msconfig
Startup Tab
Untick anythings that has Adobe in its program line/path
Click Apply/OK
Restart
Tick the box for the msconfig window to not show, then click ok if it shows up.
Open Dreamweaver, worked a treat on ones I tried. This solution also works for Bridge CS5 not opening and crashing (Bridge has stopped working) under Windows 7 x64; even after Adobe looked at the issue and were clueless!

Now I need to support Section 508 compliance, but I don't find how to access "Insert Bar" by keyboard.
For Examlpe: The focus be in "INSERT", but it doesn't move to other operations(red color) by keyboard.
Could you help me to resolve the problem or give any information?

Have you looked at your page with images disabled?
I urge you to re-think this approach to web design because images of text are not indexed by search engines, screen readers or translators. Given the demographic group your site is targeting, you really need to ensure maximum web accessibility for all users.
Navigation, headings and descriptions all need to be in real text -- not images of text.
Ken is right. Absolute positioning is pure poison for such a simple layout. My advice is to start over with one of the pre-built Starter Pages in DW. Go to File > New > Blank page > HTML. Select a layout from the 3rd column and hit CREATE button.

Thanks for the answer this is very useful however I still find that Dreamwever defaults back to writing in CSS, I have to go to the manel every time and switch from CSS style to Inline style which is very irritating. Is there any way to disable writing in CSS all together like their used to be in CS3..in the preferences.

Adobe constantly pinging firewall after installing Dreamweaver CS5 Demo

I don't know for sure if this should be posted under Dreamweaver or just Adobe in general, but since I installed the Dreamweaver CS5 demo 2 days ago, July 15, 2010, my firewall has been filling up with icmp/ping requests from "ADOBE Systems Incorporated" (see log snippet below. Times are CST -6:00). This is happening whether I have Dreamweaver running or not. I noticed because I usually only get a daily email from my firewall, but lately I have been receiving multiple emails daily filled with blocked ping requests.
Can anyone confirm if this might be a "feature" of all their new online stuff or should I be worried? Can anyone else check their firewalls and see if it's happening to them?

Dreamweaver automatically tries to connect to Adobe every time the Welcome screen is displayed. To prevent it from happening, select the "Don't show again" checkbox at the bottom left of the welcome screen. The reason it connects is to get the message that's displayed at the bottom right of the welcome screen.
The other reason your computer will be connecting to Adobe is the Adobe Updater will be trying to connect to the server to find if there are any updates to the installed programs. It normally runs once a day, but is probably retrying because your firewall won't let it through. I'm not sure if or how you can disable the updater. I find it quite useful, so have never tried to turn it off.

Things I tried.
1) Gave full rights on dreamweaver folder in program files.
2) Disabled welcome screen
3) Updated to Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4
4) Reinstalled
5) Formated PC
But issue persists, please help.

Have you tried deleting or renaming the Dreamweaver configuration file?

This can solve many problems and create one in that any snippets that are installed are lost, but you can get them back. Instead of deleting the config file, just name it config.old. When your system is working, just copy the snippets from the .old file to the new one.

E-commerce is a very large topic that requires much experience with web security, databases and processing credit cards safely. If you are not an expert programmer, you might be much better off using a 3rd party shopping cart system that is both secure & PCI compliant such as Shopify or UltraCart.

Insertion web gallerie dans Dreamweaver CS5.5

Bonjour,
Je désirerai insérer une gallerie photos dans Dreamweaver CS5.5. J'aimerai mettre cette gallerie dans une page ayant déjà une mise en forme, ce que j'arrive pour la première page de la gallerie, mais avec plusieurs pages (4 pages) les pages 2,3 et 4 ne conservent pas la mise en forme de la première.
Alors quel autre programme me permettrai d'avoir une gallerie avec des commandes simplifiées pour la mise en page et que cela soit exportable pour l'intégration dans la page de Dreamweaver.
J'ai exploité plusieurs logiciels en Flash, en XML, mais je n'arrive pas à de bon résultat.
Si l'un d'entre vous à un nom de logiciel, je suis preneur pour le tester et l'acheter.

Bonjour, pour les galeries photos, j'utilise chez DMX Zone le WebStunning Photo Galery. C'est un peu compliqué au départ mais on peut enregistrer les Presets et il y a tous les réglages possibles et il n'est pas trop chère.
Allez voir sur mon Site www.chorus.ch , il y a 58 galeries de musiciens.

Comme tu n'as pas encore eu de réponse, j'essaye de te donner quelques infos bien que je ne sois pas du tout un spécialiste Dreamweaver. Ce qui est certain, c'est que Dreamweaver quelle que soit sa version ne fait pas des diaporamas.
Tu dois faire ton diaporama avec un logiciel prévu pour ça. Le choix du logiciel dépend de ce que tu veux faire. Ensuite, il faut convertir le diaporama dans un format de fichier multimédia accepté pour insertion dans Dreamweaver.
Tu trouveras page 272 de l'aide d'Adobe le type de fichiers multimédias acceptés par Dreamweaver pour insertion.

Dreamweaver CS5 on Lion Opens but then won't work

I'm using Dreamweaver CS5 with Lion 10.7.2 on a new iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7. I've had the machine about 2 weeks and Dreamweaver worked fine. Yesterday what happened was that I can launch the program but cannot use it. Anytime I click any menu item in the program like the file menu or help menu I get a spining ball. I can't open files in Dreamwever from outside or inside it. I can't do anything at all in Dreamweaver. I wait a long time and the spinning ball doesn't stop. I didn't do anything new except add ram to the computer and the ram works fine and shows up in "about this Mac" and has caused no problems. This Dreamweaver is a part of CS5 Web Premium and whatever the problem is it has not effected Photoshop CS5. In fact I have no problems anywhere else on my computer except for Dreamweaver.
I've tried the following solutions that I saw in these and other forums and nothing works:
1) in Dreamweaver preferences changed the following:
[REMOTE DOWNLOAD]
remotedownloadcachesize=50
remotedownloadallow=TRUE
to
[REMOTE DOWNLOAD]
remotedownloadcachesize=50
remotedownloadallow=TRUE
resolveremoteurltoipaddress=FALSE
That didn't work so I changed it back.
2) repaired disk permission on my hard disk from disk utilities, then verified the hard disk and it was ok, restarted various times.
3) tried replacing preferences and app support from previous days in time machine when it work but no change.
4) deledted com.adobe.Dreamweaver.11.plist from preferences. That didn't work so put it back
5) checked and remade permisions for user at ~/library/application support/adobe/dreamweaver cs5 but the permissions were already at read & write
6) renamed ~/library/application support/adobe/dreamweaver cs5 folder and restarted Dreamweaver
7) renamed ~/library/application support/adobe/dreamweaver cs5/en_US/Configuration and restarted Dreamweaver
8) deleted ~/library/application support/adobe/dreamweaver cs5 and restarted Dreamweaver
9) uninstalled Dreamweaver using Dreamweaver's uninstall app and reinstalled it from my disk and updated it.
10) tried using Dreamweaver from a different user login and it worked, but I need it to work in THIS login. I can find no way that this user is corrupt.
I hope someone has an idea of what to do.

New info. My husband just installed the older version of Firefox, and it is also not responding. Again without ever seeing a request for a response from him.

Visual aids in Dreamweaver CS5.5 is disabled
