Visual Composer Accessing Runtime Data

Hello everybody,
I need to access runtime data from Visual Composer such as user logged, I need to obtain this info to display it in a input field in a form view, has anyone did this before or any suggestions, thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ivan

Hi,
On your compose window, you would find something called user data under connectors. Drag and drop that inside your view and try to fetch information from that.

  • Visual Composer - access Web Services using http proxy

    Hi,
I want to use an external web service in the Visual Composer. I set up the service in NWA -> SOA Management -> Destination Template Management.
I defined the http proxy in System Global Settings. The proxy requires authentication so I provided username and password.
When I want to access the web service in the Visual Composer the log file shows this:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (407) Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied.  ). The requested URL was:"myWSURL"
It seems that authentication is not performed although I provided the correct credentials. Using (internal) web services without the proxy works fine with the visual composer.
    Any ideas? Thanks, Kevin

    Hi Kevin
I have used the cglobal weather, get cities by country and Currency converter webservices in VC for CE 7.1

  • Display error messages in Visual Composer if Input Data is not valid

    Hi,
We developed a small iView with a single input field FO (Factory Order).
The output is a table with some fields corresponding to the given FO.
My requirement is if the given FO (Factory Order) has no data then the table should not be displayed, instead a message should be displayed saying
'No Data is found' and stop the program.
Please reply soon if anyone has got a solution.
    Thanks,
    Shashidhar

    Hi
You can use <b>guard condition</b> of the event to check whether input field(FO) has data or not. When the input field is empty , you can open a <b>pop-up iView</b> displaying "No Data is found" and when the input field has data , you can execute your service to produce the table output.
If, you have any more doubts, revert back
    Thanks & Regards

  • Last Data Update in Visual Composer and Web App Designer

    Hello,
We want to show the last data update in query result and we used 2
differents ways to do it: throught Web Application Designer (SP 12) and
    Visual Composer (SP 10).
In query result of Web Application Designer, the last data update came
in GMT0 and in visual composer came ok (GMT - 3, that's our time zone).
This value (ROLLUPTIME) is taken out of the RSMDATASTATE table and this is used in SAPLRSMDATASTATE program, that is called by Web App Designer.
Why does the difference exist between: Web App Designer and Visual Composer for last data update?
So, I need more information how the Visual Composer brings the correct value (in our time zone) and Web App Designer in GMT0.
    Best Regards,
    Pablo Moraes

    Hi Mario,
Yes, i used the same user and the same query to access the information. But, how can i check the mapping from my VC user to the BI user?

  • How to use BEx or Visual Composer to visualize 3rd party tool data?

    Hello,
could you give me ideas how to visualize non-SAP warehouse data with BEx or Visual Composer?
I know that one option is virtual provider with connection to external DW. I do not want to load data into BW.
Is there any other way? If yes, how it can be done?

    3.3 Connectivity and Interoperability
    This section briefly describes:
    • The means of connecting Visual Composer Storyboard to the required back-end systems
    • The technology environments to which models composed in Storyboard can be deployed
    Connectivity with Back-End Systems
Visual Composer provides tools that let you connect via the portal to back-end applications defined in the portal system landscape. This connection enables you to import into your model the relevant function modules on which you want to base your iViews. The imported function modules are referred to as data services.
Normally, you can connect to any installation of a back-end application to import a data service, and then deploy the content to any portal that enables access to an instance of the same back-end application. However, if the customer installation of the back-end application includes customized function modules, you will need to import the data services in the customer environment, in order to retrieve the customized functions.
Most connections to back-end systems are accomplished using the SAP and JDBC connectors deployed automatically as part of the connector framework installed with the portal. The SAP connector provides access to R/3 and BW systems, while the JDBC connector provides access to a wide range of databases, including Microsoft SQL, Oracle, DB2 and others.
BI connectors, installed separately in the portal, can be used to access a range of different data, including multidimensional cubes, relational tables and queries. Connectivity is based on defining a system in the portal landscape. You may define systems for the following connections:
    • BI XMLA
    • BI ODBO
    • BI JDBC
    • BI SAP Query
In addition, you can configure the BW system, installed automatically with the SAP connector, for accessing predefined queries.
The following table describes the systems from which Visual Composer can import data, and the connectors that are required. The “Connector” (second column) indicates the name of the connector used to install the system in the portal.

  • Problem changing ALL the colours for Visual Composer

    Hi All,
    <b>To set the scene:</b>
    I have SP13 installed.
I have created a Visual Composer model, selected the option "Enabling styling of flex controls in portal themes", and deployed it.
Then gone into the Portal > System Admin > Portal Display > Theme Editor > Selected the correct theme > Visual Composer > Flex Runtime Controls
    Then changed all the colours
    <b>The Problem:</b>
I cannot change <b>ALL</b> the colours. There is this blue box that borders all the form headers which i cannot seem to change. I have provided a link to a screenshot below.
    <a href="http://base.google.com/base/a/2957240/D319638570621304478">Screenshot Link Here!</a>
The field that I would assume fixes this ("Border Color of View Header") seems to have no effect?
Anyone also had this problem or know of a solution?
    Thanks
    Conrad Nicholas

    Hi Conrad,
    This issue is a bug.
It was brought to our attention and was already fixed.
The fix will be available in the next release.
    Thank you for your input,
    Shay

  • Can Visual Composer make decisions based on boolean logic?

I need to know if I can use Visual Composer to manipulate data results based on boolean logic.  Basically, if a  month is less than the current month, I want a formula to dispay A instead of B. Can this be done?
Can I also say, if current month is greater than this month then hide values, else show values?

In that case you don't need VC. I would then directly do that with BEx Query Designer and the use of a formula and boolean operators there. Here is the help of how you can achieve that:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/23/17f13a2f160f28e10000000a114084/content.htm
Once you created sthe query this way, you can use the BEx Analyzer to embed it in Excel, and then use Information Broadcasting to schedule the calculations.
Of course if your requirements change and displayint that data in VC is good enough, then you can still go as mentioned in my answers above

  • Access data from SqlServer through Visual Composer.....?

    Hi Gurus,
I could able to connect SqlServer database from Visual Composer. After that, how can I access table data from sqlserver database?
    Thanks in advance....
    Ravindra.

    Ravindra,
Here is the work around to do this. You will need to create a New System.  In the Portal go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape.  Create a New System from PAR.  Select com.sap.portal.systems.BIUDI, click Next.  Select SAP_BI_JDBC and enter all the information that you would normally use to connect to a SQL DB using JDBC.  You can then in the VC run SQL against the tables.  Open VC, and Navigate to the iView level and go to the toolbar and Select BI -> SQL Editor.  It is pretty self-explanatory from there.

  • Data Service System In Visual Composer  7.1

    Hello,Experts:
Recently ,i am focusing on the mirgration function of SAP NetWeaver, and visual composer is among them .
In netweaver 2004s enterpise portal ,i have done the system connection between Enterpise Portal and ECC and BW ,and the system alias can be accessed in visual composer .Both the bapi and infocube can be got by the system alias .The Visual Composer Application based on the backend data service is ok .
However ,i have registry the ecc system in CE Portal and its version is SAP Composte Environment SP5 .I can check out the system registry is ok . However ,when i open the Visual Composer on the CE Portal ,i couldnt find the system alias that i have registried .It is blank .Plus,we havent install SLD on the CE Java Server ,and solution manager is put forward to take the place of sld .
Can anybody help me out ? The problem has any relationship with the Enterpise Service Repository ?
Thanks for your help in advance .
    Eleanor

    Hi Eleanor,
first of all if you want to use SAP BW in Visual Composer for CE then you have to install Enhancement Package 1. SAP BW resp. queries, planning functions and so on is only supported with VC 7.11 (EhP1 for CE). I also recommend you to set up the SLD in your CE system resp. that it works as a "slave SLD" when you have an existing SLD in your landscape. There are wizards available in the NetWeaver Administrator.
Go to http://<host>:<port>/nwa to login into NetWeaver Administrator.
Navigate to Configuraton --> Scenario --> Configuration Wizard and choose the Initial setup of functional unit SLD.
If you want to have access to BAPIs there are two ways to access the system. You can define a portal system object to access the ECC or you can define in NWA a RFC connection to access ECC.
    [Maintaining RFC Destinations|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/5a/97a066223e440b8ead3da027b17d9e/frameset.htm]
    [Wiki to setup RFC connection|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/vc71/rfc+destination]
    Hope that helps,

    Hi,Govindu
I have read that message already .Thanks for ur help .
However ,i find that there's no VC-Role in CE SP5,and the permission add-in didnt work .Besides ,when i deploy VC component on the EP 6.0 ,i can find these iviews or models at the directory of content administrator->visual composer ,while in the new version ,i havent find the configuration path on the Visual Composer Client, and when i deploy the VC Applications ,it is deployed in the path of webdynpro content management .
and my question is still up in the air .

  • Runtime error in Visual Composer

I'm develping a Composite View in Visual Composer using BAPIs. I'm using BAPIs just because my SLD isn't ready to publish the enterprise services from ECC and SCM/APO. The main objective is learn how to use VC to create applications consuming data from BAPIs, Web Services, BI Query etc...
I developed a simple application using the bapi: BAPI_LOCSVAPS_GETLIST2 from sap APO.
    Inputs ports:
            LOCATION_SELECTION - TABLE
            Input: LOGICAL_SYSTEM and MAX_NUMBER_OF_LOCATIONS - signal
The problem is the following: when only the out port ouput is used, there isn't any problem, and is possible to compile and deploy the Composite View and the output (NUMBER OF LOCATIONS FOUND) is correct.
But if I try to select some TABLE out port like LOCATION_TEXT, an error occurs in runtime (compile and deploy without problems): Connection Error: contact your system administrator: HTTP request error.
I tested the RFC Connections and also, tested the BAPI using the Test Data Service and all the tests were ok and that's why I don't know what is wrong. In design time there isn't any problem, instead in runtime the error mentioned above occurs.
    EHP1 SP1 for SAP Netweaver 7.1
    IE Version 7.0.6001.18000
Data Source :ECC and SAP APO u2013 In VC is used BAPIs, configured via RFC Destination
    Thanks...

    Hi,
I think "Implementing a GP Interface" makes no sense in this case. Take a look at <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/vc/limitationsofWeb+Dynpro&">VC: Limitations of Web Dynpro</a>.
It seems that Web Dynpro in VC is not supporting all kinds of services and functions.

  • WebDynpro runtime mode in Visual Composer

We are unable to create and deploy Visual Composer projects with WebDynpro runtime mode due to we unable to see any datasource of systems in "Find Data Service" area.
In the same time when we use Flex runtime mode BAPIs in "Find Data Service" apears.

Sorry, I mean WebDynpro runtime in Visual Composer
    I've found the solution.
WebDynpro only supports Webservices as datasource.
    See also note 950492
    RFCs
However, if you uncheck mask unsupported features under Tools -> Options, and then deploy, BAPIs will also work to a certain extent.

  • Update master data in BW with Visual Composer

    Hi guys.
I have an attribute of an info object that I need to give the users access to update.
I would like to do it with visual composer.
I would like the user to see all rows in a table kind of view and the user will update only the rows that need to be changed and than he/she will click on a button that will update the master data table in BW.
I believe that I'll need to use a BAPI or a RFC for that? Does anyone know any good predefined ones for that?
    Thanks
    Shlomi

That's not really true. In VC you have access to all remote enabled functions. We have created specific functions to update attributes.
We are using it to allow our users to update their own master data instead of bugging the BI team.
Here is an example of our code.
Before I paste this in, you need to know a couple things.
    1. You can only update one record at a time (with my code)
    2. You have to pass back in the entire record, even if you are only changing one attribute of many.
    3. It automatically does the attribute change run, so you do not need to to it.
This is a simple infoobject with a few attributes.
First we created a Get function (which collects the data and shows it to the user.
Then we gave them a edit button on the table that goes to a pop up.
The user selects the record to change, then hits the edit button.
When the popup  comes up the data is shown in a form, with a save and cancel button, fields that you do not wish users to see or change, hide them, but they all most be present on the form.
The  when the user hits save, it send it to the below function. The name of the infoobject is ZCAT_SUB.
    FUNCTION zcat_update_subparty2.

  • Role for enduser to access Dashboards in Visual Composer in portal

    Hi,
I(developer) created 5 Dashboards using Visual Composer and published them (iviews) in a role.
As a developer i got VC role assigned to me in portal to  work on Visual Composer.
Now my requirment is to assig this Dashboard role to all users..so that users can access them in portal.
All the users have data authorisation for those 5 queries on which dashboards are built.Currently they are executing reports in portal
What roles do i need to assign to the Client/Endusers so that they are authorised to execute the dashboard reports
    Please update
    Thanks

    Hi,
Firstly, in portal go to Content Administration --> Portal Content --> Visual Composer and then search for your dashboard.
Copy your dashboard (put the iView in a page) page and paste as delta link in any newly created Role.
In User Administration, assign this role to all users.
