Visual Composer objects getting locked

Hi All,
I have been facing one problem from last few days.
Sometimes the objects which I am working on get locked and even if I log off completely. And try to open the same object , the object open only in read-only mode.
But to mention one more thing that the same objects are sometimes available in editing mode on the next day or after some time.
Is there a way around to deal with this issue.
I will appreciate your answers.

What do you mean when you say "locked".
What are you attempting to do, and are you doing it on development or on the quality server?

Hi
I am trying to create Material Master from a BSP Application.
I am calling BAPI with destination and i am successful in creating the material.
But if try to open the material in change mode (mm02) transaction, i am getting message stating Material is locked by the RFC user, which i have used in the Destination, while calling the BAPI.
and the lock is not getting cleared.
Can anyone pls help on this

Deployment error in Visual Composer

Hi,
While deploying a model in SAP Newtweaver visual composer , I get the following error . Can anyone how to fix this error?
Portal Request Failed:
(WD deployment failed. Consult log file for details)
Also, how do I access the log file?

thanks for the reply. I followed all the instructions as in SDN thread.
Now I get " Nothing to Deploy" . I used iview as "Primary Window" and used compiler runtime as "Webdynpro". I created new iviews and tried to deploy them. I am getting " Nothing to Deploy" every time.

Visual composer open file-dialog

Hi,
is possible to open an file dialog in Visual composer to get the filenamepath as in R3 do the function ws_filename_get or like you and a file to customer message?.

your question isn't clear for me. Do you want a file dialog for uploading data? Do you want a file dialog for storing your model to the local file system?
Uploading data is not possible with VC, therefore you have to use other technologies like the KM or an integrated Web Dynpro Application. Exporting the model to the local file system is possible via the menu bar.

GP callable object (Visual Composer FLASH)u2013 update input/output parameters

Dear Sirs,
I have a callable object which is based on a Visual Composer Flash iview. In this iview I have two input parameters and two output parameters, and these can been seen in the callable object.
However, if I add another input or output parameter deploy the model and change and active the callable object the new changes are not picked up.
Has anyone else encountered the same problem?

Hello Nick,
You gave me the answer I did not want :=), however I think you are right.
This is not a very good solution by SAP and I think I will open an OSS to get a final answer from SAP on they are going to solve this.
You can not delete all the callable objects in a process whenever you need a new parameter.

Is it possible to get locked objects in passed time?

I would like to get locked objects in passed time. The oracle version is 9i.
For example,
Can I get a list locked objects five days ago? Because I would like to keep locked objects statistics?

Hi,
your best shot is ASH (active session history). It contains information about active sessions, their wait events, wait times, blockers, objects accessed, SQL running etc. For recent events you may query V$ACTIVE_SESSION_HISTORY, if you are interested in older data then you can try
looking in DBA_HIST_ACTIVE_SESS_HISTORY.
There are many limitations when analyzing ASH data, such as:
1) limited retention time
2) periodic sampling (you won't be able to see anything that falls in between snapshots)
3) bias towards longer events
etc.
so you need to be careful when analyzing these data.

System Object For BI In Visual Composer

Dear portal Gurus,
I have some rfc's in BI server and i want them to access in Visual Composer,so i created a R3 dedicated server system object for that BI server but when i'm entering that value of the RFC it is unable to access ,so is that we should create a load balancing system object for that BI server,

are you able to see your rfc in the drop down list in the models section?
Also do check in your portal system object if SAP System type is SAP_BW.

Where do I get a copy of Visual Composer??

Pls where can I get a copy of Visual Composer [VC]??
It is not available for download from the SAP website.
I wanted to create an EAI solution for demonstration purposes using VC, but I read it is not possible to connect to non-SAP systems using the Visual Composer?
So it is no use for what I want.

Hi Sean,
Visual Composer was not yet released in an unrestricted shipment release, therefore it is still not available for download. It is planned to happen in the third quarter of 2004 (Probably September).
This version will support not only SAP data sources but also JDBC and Siebel (with more third parties to come in the future).

How to get started with visual composer 6.0??????

I have downloaded the setup.exe from service.sap.com. But after installing it i am not being able to view any of the element in the different tabs like.....define properties, select data services, define fields, design the views, add elements.......the window is completely blank.....moreover after starting visual composer 6.0....there is an error displayed in the IE status bar......the error is "Object doesn't support this property or method"......thank you very much......

All you need are SVGViewer 3.0, from http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/main.html,
and MS XML Parser 4.0, from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3144b72b-b4f2-46da-b4b6-c5d7485f2b42&DisplayLang=en.

Where to get the par file for visual composer application?

Hi Gurus,
I have referred few forum postings about transporting VC iview .
to do that first we have to deploy the par file of the Visual composer application into the target system(QA & Prod) where ever we want to import it........
Now my query is I went to System admin->support-Portal runtime->Root Folder-->Portal apps........
where i have seen my Visual composer application name and otpion to download when I downloeded it it has downloded in unknown format............can i deploy this to SDM of the target system?
Or I need to change the file format into par or par.bak file?
please tell me how to go about it.........

Tools --> Options --> Compiler --> Check box deploy for par and mention the namespace and vendorname in the PAR prefix name

Lock objects are use in SAP to avoid the inconsistancy at the time of data is being insert/change into database.
SAP Provide three type of Lock objects.
Read Lock(Shared Locked)
protects read access to an object. The read lock allows other transactions read access but not write access to
the locked area of the table
Write Lock(exclusive lock)
protects write access to an object. The write lock allows other transactions neither read nor write access to
the locked area of the table.
Enhanced write lock (exclusive lock without cumulating)
works like a write lock except that the enhanced write lock also protects from further accesses from the
same transaction.
You can create a lock on a object of SAP thorugh transaction SE11 and enter any meaningful name start with EZ Example EZTEST_LOCK.
Use: you can see in almost all transaction when you are open an object in Change mode SAP could not allow to any other user to open the same object in change mode.
Example: in HR when we are enter a personal number in master data maintainance screen SAP can't allow to any other user to use same personal number for changes.
Technicaly:
When you create a lock object System automatically creat two function module.
1. ENQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. to insert the object in a queue.
2. DEQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. To remove the object is being queued through above FM.
You have to use these function module in your program.

purpose: If multiple user try to access a database object, inconsistency may occer. To avoid that inconsistency and to let multiple user give the accessibility of the database objects the locking mechanism is used.
Steps: first we create a loc object in se11 . Suppose for a table mara. It will create two functional module.:

1. deque_lockobject
before updating any table first we lock the table by calling enque_lockobject fm and then after updating we release the lock by deque_lockobject.

Give the short description..

In the menu ..GOTO -> LOCK MODULES..There you can see the ENQUEUE and DEQUEUE function

How to use ENQUE and DEQUE BAPI in Visual Composer

Hi All,
We are planning to update employee Address through Portal for that one we did one BAPI which supports ADDRESS Change of an employye, through Visual Composer we developed the application and we integrated into SAP Portal but we are not able to update our records, then we found BAPI_EMPLOYEE_ENQUE and BAPI_EMPLOYEE_DEQUE, but we don't know how to use thease BAPI's in Visual Composer i mean how to make connection between out input form and thease BAPI''s and our custom BAPI's.
If any one having this experience please let me know.

Nice to see your reply, we got this error in R/3 it self, when we are trying to excuting SAP Standard BAPI we are getting this error "Employee/applicant is not locked yet". I think this is bug from SAP itself, do you have any idea about this one? is there any settings we need to do in R/3 for resolving this one or else is there any data we need to maintaine for our Employee Records.
Please resolve my issue.
