Visual Composer to display products in a Grid

Hi Experts,
I need to display products as images and label below it in a 3x4 manner.
I will test Visual Composer to display products in a Grid. So I need help on solving this issue and need your expertise.
Please send me some link or documents, Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Iqbal

Hi Iqbal,
the only way to display a product list is to use a table and tables in VC are very limited especially the layout of the tables (as a grid).
I recommend to use webdynpro in this case, because you can define the exact layout and you also can add dynamicly during runtime further rows for your products and you haven't to use a table.

Marcel

    Hi Veera...
Below links will helps you to get all the info...
Visual Composer produces applications in a declarative form, thereby enabling completely code-free execution mode for multiple runtime environments. It provides full application lifecycle support by maintaining the connection between an application and its model throughout its lifecycle. Visual Composer is designed with an open architecture, which enables developers to extend its design-time environment and modelling language, as well as to integrate external data services.
As a result, Visual Composer modelers increase productivity by reducing their development effort time from weeks and months to days. Domain experts gain the means to express their requirements directly rather than conveying them to developers. This narrows the gap between application definition and implementation.
Starting with a blank canvas, the Visual Composer user draws the application in Visual Composer Storyboard (workspace), without writing a single line of code. Since no traditional programming skills are needed, business process experts can prototype, design and produce entire applications.
A typical workflow for creating, deploying and running an application using Visual Composer is:
    Create a model
Discover data services and add them to the model
Select necessary UI elements and add them to the model
Connect model elements to define the model logic and data flow
    Edit the layout
Arranging the UI elements and the controls of the application on forms and tables.
    Deploy the model
This step includes compilation, validation and deployment to a selected environment.
    Run the application
The application can run using different runtime environment (such as Adobe Flex and HTML)
Visual Composer Design board : The model contains a form in which the user enters data, a data service that receives the input values, and an output table that displays the results returned by the data service.
Visual Composer Layout board :  The application contains a Search input form with an input field and a button that transfers data to the data service. The data retrieved from the data service is displayed in the Results table.
The application generated by Visual Composer :  Visual Composer used Adobe Flex as a runtime in this screenshot, generated the application and integrated it into SAP Enterprise Portal

  • Displaying km documents using Visual Composer

    Hi
Can visual composer display components of km.
I am looking into using vc to show different
ways to display ppt slides or word documents
    Thanks
    Arun

    Hi Arun,
In order to display a ppt or a word document you can use the HTML View. The input parameter of the HTML View is a url, you should just enter the url of your ppt or word.
    We don't support km components.

    Any inputs is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sreeram

    Hi,
thanks for your time and help. Its a relevant blog but unfortunately doesnot solve my problem.
I am using BI SAP Query Connector system instead of BI JDBC. While creating the Heatmap I am able to select the fields and see the output in table format, but finally the chart is not appearing. its blank.
IGS is configured correctly, able to reach backend to select tables, select fields. After deployment and when the ivew is run I dont even see any heatmap, but a blank container.
Please suggest if you have any clues regarding this.

  • Is it possible in Visual Composer

    Hi All,
I am not an expert in Visual Composer, but I do know it is useful to access adhoc data from the production environment. I have a requirement to extract historical data from NON-SAP database (DB2), since we are not planning to convert some historical data.
Let some one tell me whether I can access data from non-sap database, which is sitting outside. Also I want to use the tool to do extract data from BW, R/3 and DB2 at the same time in one screen?
Any material reference will help as well.
    Thanks,
    Alex.

    Hi Alex,
yes, that is possible. You can connect your DB2 via the BI JDBC Connector (look <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/b3/c3c4135e074ab4900bfdc2ae6c9e79/frameset.htm">here</a> and scroll down). At the same time, on the same screen you can connect R/3-Data, BW-Data, CSV-Data, Webservice-Data, ...

  • Error while making iview with visual composer

I am trying to make an iview usign visual composer.
In the document that i have for making the iview , it says that when you have the bapi list you need to drag and drop the bapi to the empty iview pane . When i do so it gives me the following error ...
    "Portal request failed
    (com/sap/mdi/ObjectFactory)"
    What do i do ?
    Would appreciate a prompt help!
thanks again for making me move ahead
I had a conversation with a parson on the forum named Venkat . I am posting the same for other people in the forum to understand what exactly is my problem and how much have we explored .
    Regards
    Deepak Singh
    Hi Venkat ,
I tried to do so research on the problem and it is being talked about in a thread on the forum . They ask to refer to the sap note 765461 to resolve the mdi reference . In the note they ask you to refer the installation guide of the installed version of EP . I have EP 6.0 SP2 . The installation guide says the following ...
    7.1.2 Adding References
To enable some of the features in the portal environment, add references to reference file.
    To add a reference:
    1. With a text editor, open the file:
    Windows: <installation drive>:\usr\sap\<SAP J2EE instance name>\j2ee\<instance
    number>\cluster\state\services\file\work\managers\reference.txt
    Unix: /usr/sap/<SAP J2EE instance name>/j2ee/j2ee_<instance number>/
    cluster/state/services/file/work/managers/reference.txt
    2. Look for the line:
    reference service:eisconnector library:jco
    3. After the line mentioned in previous step, add the following in a new line:
    reference service:eisconnector library:com.sap.mdi
    4. Save your changes and close the file.
    5. Delete the file:
    Windows: <installation drive>:\usr\sap\<SAP J2EE instance name>\j2ee\<instance
    number>\cluster\state\services\file\work\managers.bin
    Unix: /usr/sap/<SAP J2EE instance name>/j2ee/j2ee_<instance number>/
    cluster/state/services/file/work/managers.bin
    6. Restart the SAP J2EE Engine. See Starting the SAP J2EE Engine [Page 60].
    7. Restart the SAP J2EE Engine again.
I did the same ....but now my server is not starting . By chance i didn't keep a bakup of the file which they asked me to delete .
Now what do i do ?
I think i am stuck up badly here .
EVERYBODY IN THE FORUM PLEASE HELP
I am not sure how a thing that is mentioned in the installation guide cannot work !
    Regards
    Deepak Singh
    Deepak,
It is not that bad. By deleting you are recreating that managers.bin file during startup based on the reference.txt and library.txt (recollecting from my memory). This could also happen if there is a typo or some special characters in the reference.txt
I don't know what J2EE patch you are at, but after PL22 you can actually add the reference using the "add reference" command from the administrator console.
could you please send the error you are getting? To revert back the simplest thing is removing the line you have added and restart.
    Hope this helps.
    -Venkat Malempati
Note: Please reward points if your problem is solved or useful.
    Venkat ,
I am using J2EE engine 6.20 SP2 .I tried to get the server started by the following two methods
    1) I removed my entry in the reference.txt file and then start the engine by running go.bat from the required path .
    2) I got the original file managers.bin which i deleted and then placed in the required path and restarted the server
Both the options didn't work .
I am not getting any error when i restart the server. When i run the batch file go.bat it starts the console and shows me the various managers loading . After it shows the Clustermanager loading , it stops and gets stuck .
Not sure what should i do now .Is reinstallation the only solution ?
Is there a solution from the administrator console ?
    Regards
    Deepak Singh
    Deepak,
No you don't need to re-install. Try the following.
    1. First start the state controller by runing go.bat in the following directory.
    /usr/sap/xxx/j2ee/cluster/state/go.bat
You get the message waiting for cluster manager.
    2. start the server in a different window
    /usr/sap/xxx/j2ee/cluster/server/go.bat
You get the message waiting for cluster manager
    3. Start the dispatcher
    /usr/sap/xxx/j2ee/cluster/dispatcher/go.bat
Please let me the know the error messages.
You can chat with me between 10:00 - 11:00 PM US EST.
    Regards
    -Venkat Malempati

    People ,
I tried to do what venkat suggested . Infact I had mailed him the snapshot of the screen when i start the state controller as he suggested . For other people in the forum this is what is happening . When i start the state controller it displays an error and then the window closes immediately . I have managed the screen shots somehow and in those i could find two messeges in the begining and the end which could be useful for debugging the problem ...they are
    1) [DBMS]: ID3004:DB file header do not match exception .
com.inqmy.services.dbms.server.interfaces.DatabaseException: Error while opening database ...
    2) ID000544: Error statrting service dbms. DBMS service not started properly due to: Errro while opening database
[Framework -> criticalShutdown] Service dbms startup error !
After the state controller window closes i run the server in a different window and i get a message waiting for the cluster manager as suggested . Now i start the dispatcher and i get the same messege there as well ie waiting for the cluster manager .
What is to be done now . Is this information sufficient to suggest me something ? Please let me know if you require any other information .
    Regards

  • Data Service System In Visual Composer  7.1

    Hello,Experts:
Recently ,i am focusing on the mirgration function of SAP NetWeaver, and visual composer is among them .
In netweaver 2004s enterpise portal ,i have done the system connection between Enterpise Portal and ECC and BW ,and the system alias can be accessed in visual composer .Both the bapi and infocube can be got by the system alias .The Visual Composer Application based on the backend data service is ok .
However ,i have registry the ecc system in CE Portal and its version is SAP Composte Environment SP5 .I can check out the system registry is ok . However ,when i open the Visual Composer on the CE Portal ,i couldnt find the system alias that i have registried .It is blank .Plus,we havent install SLD on the CE Java Server ,and solution manager is put forward to take the place of sld .
Can anybody help me out ? The problem has any relationship with the Enterpise Service Repository ?
Thanks for your help in advance .
    Eleanor

    Hi Eleanor,
first of all if you want to use SAP BW in Visual Composer for CE then you have to install Enhancement Package 1. SAP BW resp. queries, planning functions and so on is only supported with VC 7.11 (EhP1 for CE). I also recommend you to set up the SLD in your CE system resp. that it works as a "slave SLD" when you have an existing SLD in your landscape. There are wizards available in the NetWeaver Administrator.
Go to http://<host>:<port>/nwa to login into NetWeaver Administrator.
Navigate to Configuraton --> Scenario --> Configuration Wizard and choose the Initial setup of functional unit SLD.
If you want to have access to BAPIs there are two ways to access the system. You can define a portal system object to access the ECC or you can define in NWA a RFC connection to access ECC.

  • Eventing in Visual Composer 7.1 Enhancement Package 1

We are running Enhancment Package 1 on 7.1 and the release note says that client side event is supported.  However I build 2 iViews one with Data Entry text iput and and a signal out and the the sencond one with a signal in and a text field.  I cannot get what I type in to the first iView to pass to the second.  Is there a simple example that illustrates that eventing is working in this release.

I used the non WEB Dynpro event tested with the following results.
For an iView that I had build with Visual Composer 7.0 and converted using the CE 7.1.1 converter tool I now see the following. In this case the evnt had the prefix urn: on it
    10:20:12 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, %3CParamsversion%3D%223%22%3E%3CRowParamname%3D%22%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158%22%2F%3E%3C%2FParams%3E, undefined
This same iView on Visual Composer 7.0 delivered the following message using the tool in EP 7.0
    10:52:46 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, <Params><param name="Paramname" value="%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158"/></Params>, undefined
For an iView that I created new with Visual Composer 7.1.1 and tried to use the same tool the tool did not catch the event and nothing was displayed in the log when the event name had urn: on it.
I rebuilt and removed the urn: and now the tool picked up the event with the following log.
    11:12:29 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, %3CParamsversion%3D%223%22%3E%3CRowParamname%3D%22%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158%22%2F%3E%3C%2FParams%3E, undefined
The XML has changed and the use of urn: is inconsistent between versions.
Thanks for pointing me to this tool.
The Web Dynpro version you suggest did not show anything so that is why I tried the non-WebDynpro.

    hi,
I am new to Visual composer. can some body give me step by step information of calling a bapi or RFC from VC.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gopi

    Hi Gopi,
Steps involed for calling RFC/BAPI from VC
    1. Choose Model->Select Data Services.
(Alternatively, click the Data button in the task panel toolbar.)
    2. In the Portal field at the right end of the main toolbar, enter the URL of the portal from
which you can access the back-end system used by the iView.
For example, you could enter: http://<yourportal>:50000/..
    3. Click the traffic light icon to the right of the Portal field. The portal Welcome screen
    appears.
    4. Log on to the portal as a user that exists in the connected back-end system, or which is
mapped to a user of that system. Click OK.
Once a connection to the portal is established, a list of system aliases defined in the

    Hi Rajesh,
I had the same problem 2 months ago. Apply note 886209 (in the <compiler> element, find the <headless-server> parameter, and change it's value to true.Around line #146) and Deploy in VC must work.
