Visual effects "eye candy" is way too slow! love t...
why? oh why Nokia? please offer a way to turn OFF THE VISUAL GARBAGE! I am a nokia fan because of the speed and efficiency of your software NOT EYE CANDY! I have dumped a cell carrier costing me $1000's for 5 phone lines to be with you on tmobile! and you dont even have 3g support for them! I WOULD BUY ALL E63'S EXCEPT THE E72 HAS OVI MAPS AND more memory, faster processor and way better looks! except of course for the 'eye candy'! GET RID OF IT! MAKE YOUR DEVICES EFFICIENT! It is going to win in the real world, every time if you combine it with FEATURES like you are doing better than most!
thanks. I have spent weeks working thru all these settings to make this work. Now all I need to do is to figure out how to have the ui stop popping up messages such as prompting to connect to the inet? and why cant I simply choose when I want to connect to which inet connection??

New iMac running 10.10.1 frequently pauses, way too slow
I recently bought a 27 inch iMac, installed Yosemite, and migrated my files by time machine from a 5 year old macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. Since updating to 10.10.1, I frequently get the spinning beachball while I wait to continue, and everything seems much slower than it should. Safari downloads take forever, compared to Firefox. I ran an EtreCheck report pasted below. I tried some easy fixes like removing desktop clutter, reducing transparency, but that doesn't affect the overall slowness. Any solutions welcome!
Problem description:
Installed Yosemite on new iMac, migrating from snow leopard on an older macbook pro. Instead of being fast, processes frequently pause for bit while the beachball spins, then resume. Way too slow, much slower than my old macbook pro.

Ios 8.0.2 way too slow on 16GB 4S
I updated from ios 7 two days ago and my 16GB 4S is WAY too slow. It is really noticeable in Mail and Safari, the two programs I use the most. I am really mad and discouraged at the lack of warning and the rather large (negative) impact it has made on my online life as I use my iPhone a lot both for work and pleasure. I did improve entering text in Mail by turning off the function that suggests a string of words as one types; at least I can type without stuttering delays...
Does anyone know if Apple recognizes this as a big problem and is working to provide an update for the type of iPhone and memory combo I and millions of others have?
As an (annoying) aside, I found the updating process to be very frustrating: I used iTunes - as presumably very few of us have 5GB free - but found the online documentation about matters like transferring purchased apps before starting the upgrade not to match the iTunes screens; plus I had to use Task Manager a number of times to shut down a stuck iTunes. Inexcusable for Apple not to have made this easy.Hello ralphensandra,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you can't update the iOS. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

"Full Screen Mode" in Adobe Reader XI for Windows 8 loads way too slow!
I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8, after having used Windows Vista for years. I installed Adobe Reader XI for my new computer. Before, I used Adobe Reader X on Vista. I used Adobe Reader "Full Screen Mode" to read the nice-looking Bible chapters I created with internet audio from Biblegateway.com. In Vista, the "Full Screen Mode" appeared quickly, before the audio fully started, so I could see the text in time for the reading.
However, with Windows 8, "Full Screen Mode" takes around 5-10 seconds to appear at all, and a black screen is present throughout the wait. It does the same thing when I hit "escape" to exit "Full Screen Mode" as well. I even uninstalled Adobe Reader XI from my new laptop, and tried using Adobe Reader X, even though it is not recommened by Adobe to do that on Windows 8, in order to test the speed of "Full Screen Mode" there. Adobe Reader X had the same problem! I do not know if this can be fixed, but I am pretty unhappy about it! I enjoyed the "Full Screen Mode" with my PDF chapters and the online bible audio! Finding that function for the first time with Adobe Reader X was a delight for me! It gave the reading a theater feel!
Has anyone else here had a similiar problem with "Full Screen Mode" loading way too slow on Windows 8? I am very disappointed! If this cannot be fixed by a user, is there a place to complain to Adobe and make a recommendation for software improvement? Thank you! From: Test Screen Name [email protected]

What cable do I need for a full migration from a 2011 MacBook Pro to a new current one-wireless migration way too slow.?
All you need is an Ethernet cable.
Just plug it into both machines. Don't bother with a crossover cable, just a plain old Ethernet cable will do. The Ethernet ports on the Macs are smart and will adjust appropriately. -
I allowed Apple updates about two weeks ago and now Safari is way too slow. I have tried using Airport and Ethernet and the problem is the same. Yesterday, I upgraded to Safari 5.1 and now the problem is worse. Any solutions?
I can't stand peremptory affirmations like "Nothing is wrong with Safari".
Thousands of users can't be wrong (see the discussions).
If I read you the right way, it's never software' fault, it's the user who's the culprit.
Amazing!
In this very case, the fact is we can't give to "christinefromfonthill" a good solution because weren't sitting in front of her Mac.
You give her a good advice which could, perhaps, lead to an improvement.
But must also admit that Safari is a very slow browser compared to Firefox or Chrome.
And you can't ignore all the problems which arose when upgrading to Lion and were related to the new build and specs of Safari 5.1.
The best example is the apparition of "garbage type" (use of Last Resort font) when reading numerous sites. This never occured before and is the direct consequence of Safari compliance to Web Open Type. This standard prohibits the use of Type 1 Postscript Fonts and is the reason why so many people are in trouble.

Built In application "YouTube" Is Way too slow!
Hey guys, I'm new here btw, so hi to all.
When i watch videos on youtube built in app IT TAKES FOREVER! to buffer the videos, I'm using WI-FI and my net connection is 20mb, I would love to use it but it just takes toooooo long to buffer it would take me 4-5 minute to watch a one minute clip, Any help you'll be my new idol!
The strange this is though, on my computer they load in literally seconds if not instantly are are completely buffered in under 5 seconds for almost any video, yet i could hardly watch a 2 minute youtube video, it buffers then 20 seconds later it stops and it won't supering buffer, i press play nothing happens, it just like it either WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too slow or it stops buffering completely, all i know is with youtube being such a big feature, it is almost useless by the terrible coding, or what ever the problem is to make it soo slow, i hear so much people talking about youtube and there iphone but mine is just too painfully slow to watch(and no 100% not my connection)Is there any youtube settings??? Can any setting be changed which relate to youtube? And is it possible to watch youtube through safari and not through the standard application?
NO, there are no settings. Flash will not play in Safari yet, but there is a workaround using VideoHamster.
Here are a couple of Flash YouTube videos on my server that I converted to QT with CosmoPod. How do they load for you? I have a 1M up cable connection. They should start loading and playing after a few seconds. YouTube videos start playing after about 5 seconds on mine.

New Satellite C50-A264 Laptop way too slow.
I got this Satellite C50-A254 few weeks ago,i didnt touch it alot.
I only used this laptop 2-3 times but its just terribly slow.
Even if i launched Google Chrome,it constantly stopps responding and i have no idea why because it was too slow from the first place when i booted this laptop which doesnt make sence at all.
I cant run literary anything good. Even opening control panel takes about 5 seconds.
The specs are:
OS: Windows 8
HDD: 500GB
RAM: 2GB
CPU: Pentunum
I've only installed uTorrent and Steam, but i dont know why that causes this laptop to be terriblely slow.
I didnt tried to uninstall anything since it was slow from the first time.
I'm sure this was not a re-used PC.I have the exact same stituation with the Toshiba C50D
Bought it from the South African disributor
Out of the box it was so slow as to be unuseable even for basic email
within 2 days I took it back
They would not accept it back as it has been used (tried once and not again.)
I am now stuck with the WORST EVER COMPUTER, WHICH HAS TOTALLY PUT ME OFF ALL TOSHIBA PRODUCTS.
The computer has lived in the cupboard in it's box for the past 6 months and not been used.
I have since purchased a DELL in the same price range for my wife.
I have since purchased a much more expensive Acer as a work machine.
===============
Out of curiosity in the last day - I intalled a 256 Gig Solid state drive and increased the memory to 8Gig. Updated to Windows 8.1
ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE IN THE POOR PERFORMANCE.
SHAME ON YOU TOSHIBA FOR SELLING SUCH COMPLETE RUBBISH AND RIPPING THE PUBLIC OFF.

I am on an older computer that works just fine, but the processor is too slow for the flash upgrade, nor do I have the other system requirements. What can I do to get rid of this nagging bar? I do not mind upgrading to a lower version of flash, providing it is light on memory;but don't know how to or where to get it. I have seen some archives of older versions but they require knowledge of how to do zip files, or how to do the download as it isn't automatic. I currently have something called "shockwave flash 9.0.45.0". The names are another confusing thing. They talk about shockwave flash, adobe flash player, adobe flash; are they all the same thing?
michellecor-el, thanks for your input. The problem I keep having is that I can't get the system requirements for any of the flash versions except 11, the latest. I have looked on a number of sites as well as adobe. There is no point to download something that won't work with my system, and overloads my memory. My processor is a pentium 3, about 927 mhz. The service pack is 2.
Another problem I keep having is that for the older versions they keep telling me to "unzip" the file. I don't know what that means, or of course, how to do it.
Really need some help and understandable directions as am new to computers. This one works great, and I resent these companies putting me in the position of having to buy a new computer just so I can get their newest programs, which in reality are often not as good as the old ones. I cannot afford another computer. -
Eclipse/netbeans IDE way too slow after 10.9 OS update
After updating to 10.9 eclipse and netbeans have become too slow. Netbeans takes around 10-15 mins to start, eclipse is better than that but is again too slow compared to what it was before upgrading to 10.9. Slowness is not only in startup but also in all of its operations.
I updated to 10.9.1 too, but I dont see any changes in the loading time for these IDEs, they are still too slow.
Have anyone faced this issue ? Any possible solutions ?
ThanksNo one else facing this issue ?

My printer is way too slow at times
Hi there,
I just bought a new c6380 printer. Am very dissapointed because sometimes. . . not all the time. . . but way too often, when I try to print or copy it takes too much time "processing." My old printer didn't do this. Is this normal for this printer? I hope not. Is there something I can do to speed things up so I won't have to wait so often. My time is valuable to me.
Thank you,
CaroleIf the time since the last print/copy job has been too long the printer will go through a head servicing routine before printing. This is normal for the printer which has permanent printheads. I do not know of any solution other than to print more often :-).

Thousands of users can't be wrong (see the discussions).
If I read you the right way, it's never software' fault, it's the user who's the culprit.

AE CS6 RAM Render to Scratch ssd writes way too slow
Hello folks,
I've been at this for the last 4 days - all day, every day.
I searched the trenches of the internets (and came back, hollowed eyed) in order to find a solution, but to no avail
The thing is that I recently bought a new pc workstation w/ the following specs:
32 Bg Gigabyte Motherboard - Intel i7 hexacore 4930K 3,4GHz w/ hyperthr. (12Mb Cache)
NVidia GTX-780
2 x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB - raid for OS and apps
1 x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB - as AE's dedicated Scratch disk
1 x Western Digital WD20EZRX 2 TB - as storage
Windows 8 / AE CS6 11.0.2.12
Previews:
- Adaptive Resolution Limit: 1/8 (Ray-tracing on CPU since my GTX-780 isn't in the list)
Viewer Quality: Zoom Quality: Faster
Color Mgmt Quality: More Accurate Except RAM Preview
Alternate RAM Preview: Preview: 5 frames
Media & Disk Cache:
- Disk Cache enabled (max. Disk Cache Size: 100 Gb) - set on AE's dedicated Scratch disk
- Conformed Media Cache: Database & Cache - also set on AE's dedicated Scratch disk
Memory & Multiprocessing
- Installed RAM: 31,0 Gb
- RAM reserved for other applications: 15Gb (I'm also using Maxon C4d)
- After Effects Multiprocessing's Render Multiple Frames Simulteneously: enabled
- Installed CPU's: 12
- CPUs reserved for other apps: 6
- RAM allocation per background CPU: 3 Gb
- Actual CPUs that will be used: 4
My problem now is that my RAM previews (w/ and w/o Shift) are pretty darn slow, regarding the fact that I'm working on a really basic scene now in 3D space (Classic Render), involving 1 layer w/ the Stroke effect, VCP's Sure Target 2 cam set up and 2 small precomps w/ a small folding contentframe.
To RAM preview a 5 sec take, it takes almost 10 sec to build up this little scene. When I look at the processes in my task manager, I see that as soon as I RAM preview to my Scratch disk, the writing speed is a very dissapointing 3,4 Mb/s. I take it that this is an AE issue, since writingspeed to my Scratch SSD is checked and confirmed 180Gb/s +.
Does anyone here perhaps has a pointer in the right direction? I want to sleep again
Many thanks in advance, appreciate the help!
JamesThanks Mr. Mylenium,
I kind of was expecting that ST could be (one of) the culprits, so I'll have a look at alternative cam rigs.
But, also w/o ST, but only w/ the Stroke effect applied, I have that slow RAM performance (and SSD writing speed). Could that effect also be suspect?
And, furthermore: could you be so kind and feedback me on my AE preference setup? Is that as it should be?
Again, many thanks in advance.

Way too slow - need help!
I am tearing my hair out after installing/uninstalling/reinstalling both CS4 and CS5 on two different computers with the same results -- 30 seconds to make something bold? 20 seconds to delete text? Why is it running so unbearably slow?
I have WAY more than the minimum system requirements, so I know that isnt the problem. Have called support line but been on hold for too long.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any settings or options that i could look into that might make the program run faster? i have spent hours and hours trying to get it to work correctly with no luck.Let's slow down and begin at the start:
PC or Mac?
Which operating system?
What exactly are your system specs? Way more than minimum doesn't tell us much. -
I normally don't use compressor to export my movies because I know it takes a little bit longer and I'm usually in a rush. I seem to be a bit more organized these days so I thought I'd give compressor another try. Holy Moly!! It has been two days now that it's been exporting a 20 mins movie... In final cut I can export that same movie in less than 3 hours. It doesn't always do it and I do use compressor for transcoding all my files into prores first and that is usually pretty fast. But when I send something from FCP to Compressor it is just painfully slow beyond a reasonable explanation. Anyone have any ideas on how I could make my compressor faster or what could possibly be causing compressor to take more than 2 days to export a 20min movie?? It's a very simple movie without any effects or crazy stuff... in prores. Shouldn't be doing that to me!
there is a great solution for this,
it's extremely fast (4 simultanious conversions, extremely large batch lists, click & run immediatly)
and best of all:
YEAH IT'S TOTALLY FREE
where I came from
I needed to batch convert Canon 5D footage (33GB!) to Apple Pro Ress 422, didn't work at all:
Compressor didn't work, took me days, didn't respond, terrible, Apple ruined it.
Quicktime 7 Pro opening it by hand, one by one, worked pretty fast though,
but no batch functionality, not going to do the hand job...
But there should be something possible one might think if the handjob is faster than the batchjob.
Adobe Media Encoder crashed with such large amounts of data, no go eather.
But MPEG StreamClip did it for me, even better, faster, more settings, cropping, de-interlacing, audio-settings, all the things you need. You even can repair your Time Code. I use StreamClip since the beginning. Works flawless on Apple & Windows:
solution
download it here: http://www.squared5.com
It's worth sending the maker money, food, drinks & flowers since he did a job for free that Apple couldn't come up with. Please reward this guy! This works for me since the very beginning.
MPEG StreamClip needs to be in every filmmakers toolbox.
system info:
MacBook Pro
17-inch, Mid 2010
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 288 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G56)
Final Cut Pro 7 latest update
MPEG Streamclip: Version 1.9.2 (1.9.2)
to proof how fast it runs check the documents creation times:
list view in MPEG STreamclip:
Converting 33GB of Canon 5D DSLR footage to Apple ProRess 422 will take about 2 hours.
Problem solved.
