Visual Hub, Streamclip and QTPro

I'm trying to make the transition from the PC to the MAC and I need to be able to view flv, wmv, avi, and mpeg. Plus I'd like to be able to convert .mov [from FCP] to flv, wmv, and avi.
I've evaluated VisualHub, easy to use and seems to have good quality, however, my source file was an SD 16x9 and I could only get it to encode 4x3. Very easy program to use but it doesn't have a player.
I have not tried Flip4Mac but it seems to be well recommended. Its a bit more expensive and doesn't have as many formats but it has a player.
Whats the best way to go, purchase VisualHub $24 and upgrade to QTPro $29 for a total of $53 or purchase Flip4Mac wmv Studio for $49?

From the specs of your gear, I suspect that you are a power user. In which case, I think that you will need all of them...........
QT pro for general stuff and the ability to export from Quicktime. You may also find the mpeg 2 component useful although if you have FCP, you may find that it is included in the FCP package.
Flip4Mac to view wmv and some avi files and the ability to create wmv files - for which you will need a high end version.
VisualHub for conversions.
Streamclip
Also:
Toast for easy SVCD, VCD and DVD production and DivX stuff and mpeg 2 production.
VLC to play almost anything......for free!!!!!
There is much overlap of abilities but I could not do without any of them except perhaps Streamclip - but that is free anyway and it is highly rated by many.
With regard to VisuaHub encoding 4:3 rather than 16:9, I think that you will find an advanced setting to cover it. If not try the VisualHub forum.

Your content file need to have an AC3 track and you will need to play the audio through a 5.1 capable receiver or home theatre system.

It can play up to 720p after which it upscales.

Bought visual hub, still can't get my movies into imovie

Hi I posted in a different post about problems getting movies I made on my sony cybershot into imovie to edit. I was told if I bought visual hub that I could convert into another format that would be accepted in imovie. I've bought visual hub and tried several of the different formats that I was told should be accepted by imovie, but none of this is working. I can't figure out what is wrong here.

I'll be more blunt than Winston, did you try DV (in PAL or NTSC with anamorphic flag to match content)? This is "the Standard" for editing.

Visual hub deinterlace setting?

if i have interlaced .mov files and i convert them to mpeg-4 files with the deinterlace setting on...will i lose quality? i am mostly trying to find a way to get ride of the horizontal flashes that happen on fast frame changes

I have visual hub also - basically do deinterlace footage for my projects - problem I'm finding with visual hub is that it's 'manual resolution' does not work even if you set it manually...
How else does one deinterlace footage?

Visual Hub settings - bitrate

Hi all,
was just wondering what bitrate are the settings:
Standard, High, and Go Nuts
on Visual Hub, I have looked on the website and can't find the info anywhere, also does advanced overide these settings?

I've only tried the visual hub demo but would assume that if you only change 1 thing, then the defaults for the preset would apply to the other parameters unless manually altered.
The log file will have an entry with lots of settings starting with a '-' character specifying bitrates etc sent to the encoder - so you should be able to work out which parameters are changing.
Out of interest why do you want to keep the exact same bitrate?
Quality when converting a compressed movie to another compressed movie format is more dependent on the target codec when similar bitrates apply, so in some instances having a high or equivalent bitrate might not be too helpful if the source was encoded with an inefficient codec to start with. Hope that makes sense!

Wireless Connection Problems for Home Hub 3 and Vi...

We have upgraded from BT Home Hub 2 to version 3 and had a BT man (engineer) visit to set it up. He did so with no problems on our PC (wired, runnning XP) and installed all relevant software on the PC and this is connected which so far has been fast (enough - as expected) and reliable. Once the 'main' computer in the house was connected we then tried to connect other things to the internet using this BT Hub 3.
However when attempting to connect our family laptop (running Vista) we hit trouble. Initially I tried to use the icon in the tray (bottom right of the screen) by clicking on connect to a network, then selecting our hub, then inputting the wireless key and going through the menus correctly. It would only connect 'locally' and not recognise the hub. It says identifying then says unidentified (public network BT Hub 3) and only 'local' access which I then change to private network. With my preivious internet I was able to set it up as Home network - now I can only choose between public or private BUT NOT Home, Work or Public.
So I then tried the BT disc that comes with the hub into the laptop. I go through the menus - it asks is the broadband light steady blue? Yes. Click next to continue wireless set up. So I press continue. It then asks for the wireless network/SSID BTHub3- numbers and letters and the wireless key. So I put that in correctly (double checking) and click next. It then says Connecting to your Hub which then gets ticked but then the checking wireless key doesn't tick - it crosses, and says failed. It asks me to check I typed the numbers and letters correctly (I am sure of that) and It goes to Manuel set up. Where I select my hub and again type in the wireless key and click next. But the same thing happens - connecting to your hub gets ticked but checking wireless key fails.
I then get a message that says i should do a wired set up, which I can do and works but on the laptop wired solutions is just not satisfactory - laptops need wireless connectivity. Is this a problem with my laptop, Vista or the hub/modem or a combination.
I also have been able to connect other things to the internet such as a netbook (running Windows 7) and a games console. Please comment if anthing needs explaining or more detail. Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

John46: I uninstalled the Hub programmes you said to. I then tried to connect to a network (wirelessly - accessed either by going to Start - Connect to or from the icon in the tray (bottom right). I selected my hub and clicked connect. It does its thing and says 'successfully connected to...' I close that and go onto Network and Sharing Center and it shows its trying to identify the network and wait a few seconds it then shows 'unidentified network (public network)...' and that I have only got local access and so cannot surf the web.
As I mentioned in my earlier post:
With my previous Internet I was able to set it up as Home network - now I can only choose between public or private BUT not got the choice between Home, Work or Public.
Hope I've explained myself.

Home Hub 3 and 4 Connections Limit ?

Hi All i am very much hoping there is someone expert on issues such as number of connections allowed and home hub interconnecting.
First things first. I had a home hub 3 and it kept on dropping the signal. it went on for several months and many calls to Bangladesh. Very often the problem was fixed and all reunning perfect ...... for a few days sometimes even a week or so. Then it was back to This page cannot be displayed or 'No Internet' in the wifi connection window.
At the beginning the hub would show fault ie the red light would start to flash. I also had a terible phone line with a lot of crackle. One of the 'remote fixes' seemed to cure this and from then on the blue light was always on and for a while the signal remained ok. then it bagan to drop intermittently.
i also have a connection to a remote part of the garden and run a 40 meter Cat 5 cable from a port on the new homehub4 up to the homehub 3 at the other end. When i connect this, the home hub3 in the garden receives Internet no porblem but i loose it at the main hub. no faults are reported and the signal is said to be excellent and 'Internet Access ' is usually displayed.
i can often get the first page but then clicking any links gives a page with cannot connect to this page please check the name etc. if i unplug the lead going down the garden to the homehub3 I get ful connection back.
I think there is more than one problem but for now i just want to fix this bandwidth sharing issue. Surely i should not loose connection as soon as i connect to a slave hub down the garden? it does come and go after then and i will receive the odd batch of email but it is disconnected 80% of the time.
Anyone any idea what sort of a problem this is? if it is bandwidth, can i set a limit on how much will go the the slave homehub3? or can i set priority to the homehub4? or even to a specific IP address ie my laptop?
both hubs use dhcp so i did wonder if there was conflict of IP addresses but i dont see how this can be because my connection comes and goes whereas theremote homehub3 stays perfect connection for skype etc.
Another very interesting aspect was that when i would drop out on the new hub, i could connect to BT WiFi with Fon and got a connection no problem. Yet that connection must be supplied by my homehub4 so how can it supply me through wifi with fon no problem but not a direct wifi connection when i an literally 2 feet from the router?
that element has now vanished because the Bangladesh team finally decided it was the new router and sent an engineer to test it. he concluded it was the router and changed it for one he had with him butthis one does not give any signal for btwifi with fon so I am scr___d !
absolutely anything appreciated. I was an IT professional for many years so dont be shy to use technical terms.

You need to turn off the dhcp on the hh3

BT Home Hub 3 and Android 4.2.1 WI-FI issue

Hi, i'm seeing a really annoying issue on my nexus 4 running android 4.2.1. The wireless works perfectly when i am connected at home to the HH3. Everytime i leave the house and go out of the home hubs range, when i return, the BT HH3 shows as "Not in range" even when standing right next to it.
As soon i toggle Wi-Fi off then back on on the nexus 4 it connects instantly with a signal strength of excellent. The hh3 is set to channel 13 and looks to be not conflicting with another router on wifi analyser.
If anyone has seen anything similar on another android device when using a HH3 i would appreciate any feedback or potential fixes.

I have a HTC Desire with Android 2.1, and a home hub 1, and have no problems. Do you have another router you can try, or perhaps use as an extra wireless access point?
I do know that people seem to have problems with the HH3, for some reason, but I cannot see why it should be an issue with an Andriod device, as they normally remember wireless settings.
Channel 13 can cause issues with some devices.

Home Hub Username and password

Hi,
I was trying to access the basic configuration of my home hub in the Hub Manager and I was asked to enter my username and password. I have no idea what my user name is and have tried using the SN on the back of my hub but alas it does not work. Can you help please.

Don't worry - the factory reset really won't make things worse. The Homehub is configured to connect to broadband out of the box. So long as you've never fiddled with Wifi settings, then you could factory reset it. You would have to re-register your Hub phones afterwards.

I have changed from a hub 4 and dongle 600 to hub ...

My speed has dropped from Down 75.4 Up 16.5 (hub 4 and 600 dongle) to 23Down UP 3.98 (Hub 5 and 900 dongle).
What is going on?

Can we develop a solution in Visual Studio 2012 and still deploy it on BizTalk 2010?

Can we develop a solution in Visual Studio 2012 and still deploy it on BizTalk 2010? or Is it that solutions developed in VS 2012 have to be deployed only to BizTalk 2013?

BizTalk 2010 projects are not compatible with Visual Studio 2012. To use Visual Studio 2012 with BizTalk 2010 projects, you must install
BizTalk 2013 on the computer that has Visual Studio 2012. The first time you open a BizTalk 2010 project, it is automatically upgraded to the BizTalk 2013/Visual Studio 2012 project system

How to view the visual flow , audit and debug in bpm

I have successfully deployed a bpel process project to bpel process manager , i am able to see the instance & the process, but when i initiate the process it is not able to display visual flow, debuf and audit . is there any settings to defined in jdeveloper to capture these components from jdev to bpm ?
i am getting the a message to refresh page every time i click on visual flow

Thats an old version any particular reason for installing that version?
Does the process have two Invokes to an outbound dbadapter, the first Invoke works, the second Invoke actually did not update the database, so it is pending there and that whole part of the process holds (including some activities before this) and this processing does not show in the BPEL Console.
After the first invoke, this is a "Done performing workitem '12504-BpInv0-BpSeq0.3-4' ",
but for the second invoke, there is only "Performing workitem '12504-BpInv1-BpSeq0.3-6'", no such information like "Done performing ..."
Solution
-- To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Please check the second outbound dbadapter and see if there was some error when updating (like database lock).
2. For testing, delete the second Invoke and redeploy to test if the other activities will show in the BPEL Console.

The reason I ask is that the 'JNLP file' shown, is complete rubbish. It is a bunch of symbols pretending to be a JNLP file. The fundamental problem is that it is invalid (and hence it is not the 'JNLP format' it claims to be).
How any particular Java implementation deals with an invalid JNLP file is quite unpredicatable.*
Please people, do not just 'presume' that you (or your IDE) can write a valid JNLP file. Instead - validate it against a DTD or XSD.

* And to the poster who mentioned that adding the first Jar line twice solved the problem. That is a dangerous and fragile kludge. If it works in some specific microversion of Java, it might (probably will) break in the next.
Edit 1 - Highlit the most major error in that file using 'code' tags. Hopefully that will make the basic problem more obvious..

My BT Broadband was activated yesterday - HH 4
Is it advisable to change the hub name and or passwords issued by BT or is it OK to stay with the BT default name and passwords.
