Visual indicators at beginning/end of clip or sequence?

In cs6 is there any sort of visual indicator to let you know that you are at the beginning/end of a clip or sequence? Anyone familiar with FCP, I'm look for something equivalent to the L shape or blue line that appeared at the beginning and ending of clips and sequences.

Video freezes at the end of clips.

Hi, I have encountered strange glitch. I have put many short clips into project, with straight cut, no transitions between. Some of clips doesn't follow seamlessly - video freezes for about 1sec at the very end of clip but I can hear audio from following clip and after that 1sec freeze video continues with audio. Therefore I "miss" that 1sec of video from the beginning of the clip. It happens only with some of clips and sometime I can sort it out with slight trimming. But mostly cannot.
What am I doing wrong there?

If you go into iMovie Preferences, make sure you select "Display Time Codes" as hh:mm:ss:frames.
By default, iMovie edits to the nearest 10th of a second, but by checking this parameter in preferences, you can edit to the nearest frame.

How can I add a dip to white at the beginning of a clip?

How can I add a dip to white at the beginning of a clip? I know where to find it on Pr, but I'm new to AE. I have 2 clips that need to transition one to the other. The first clip ends by dipping to white; therefore, I need to either dip to white at the beginning of the 2nd clip & line them up so they overlap well, OR I need to find a white transition to place between them like in Pr.

Make a whote solid. Animate its opacity from 0 to 100 and back again.
You'll use couple-three layers -- no automatic transitions in AE. That's what Premiere's for.

SQLplus command in a begin/end block

That begin..end block is called an anonymous (nameless, unlike a procedure or function) PL/SQL block. The client (in this case, SQL*Plus) transmits the block to Oracle.
The server process servicing that client receives the block, parses it and executes it.
This server process only understands SQL and PL/SQL. Not any language.
So just as you cannot use .Net/Cobol/Visual Basic/Java/etc commands inside that PL/SQL anonymous block, you cannot use SQL*Plus commands in it.
Part of the confusion regarding SQL*Plus is using substitution variables. This enables you to create an anonymous PL/SQL block in SQL*Plus that contains substitution variables.
However, SQL*Plus itself does a very primitive parse of that block before it fires it off at the server - it detects these substitution variables and replace them with the assigned values for these variables. It then transmits this resulting block to the Oracle server for parsing and execution.
Just remember that PL/SQL is a server-side language that runs inside an Oracle server process and that should clear most confusion in this regard (including whether PL/SQL can read keyboard data or write to a client PC's harddrive, or interactively display progress status on a client monitor).

Repeated Frames at the end of clips

I have a MacBook Pro with the adobe premiere pro cc 14, but I noticed this problem is CS6 also. The problem is this: Say I have two clips in the timeline that are connected (Clip A, Clip B).
If I alter Clip B in anyway (change scale or position, or simply remove it from the timeline) the first frame of Clip B will remain at the end of Clip A. So, when I execute the playback function I can see a quick flash of Clip B at the end of Clip A.
Here's what I've tried:
I tried rendering the files--didn't work.
I tried simply trimming the repeated frame off--didn't work.
Here's what did work.
There's a straight line that goes through every clip, I don't know what its called but I think it has something to do with the speed, I would drag that from say 100 to 96.55. The video would have the red render bar above it, and the repeated frame would disappear.
HOWEVER, in my current project I have serval repeated frames in a blank space where there are video clips, so the previous method can not work.
What the heck!?!?!

One second of black appearing at the beginning of each clip in timeline.

I just got FCP and I'm having an issue. Every time I put a clip from the event brower into the timeline, there's a second of black at the beginning of each clip. This is only between clips, not the first one. If I move a clip to the front, there's no second of blackness before it, but now the one that was put second has the blackness that wasn't there before.
I see in preferences, there's a transition setting, but it won't let me set it lower than one. I figured this had to do w/ transistion effects, but could this be doing it?
Both video and project are 720p HD 30p Stereo.
I've googled all kinds of word combinations, but can't seem to find a solution.
Any help?

Complete mystery to me as well, and when I have something odd like this, I trot out the following suggestion:-
Corrupt preferences can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.

How to start a trigger in a begin/end block ?

Hi all, I need to start a trigger inside a block begin end in order to manage errors.
The trigger is created inside trigger_faef_c.sql as

and I would like to start the trigger in another file "create_trigger.sql" with this format:

Hi Erik,
I think you mean Create the trigger(?), i.e, executing the trigger_faef_c.sql script.
SQL*Plus doesn't have exception handling (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
One way to circumvent that is to rewrite the script itself to PL/SQL. Something like:
Declare
   stmt varchar2(32767);
Begin
   stmt := 'Create Trigger ....';
   Execute Immediate stmt;
Exception
   When Others Then
       --Do what?
End;
/And then just execute that
@trigger_faef_c.sqlDon't know if you want to go that way. I use it myself to be able to run the same deployment scripts multiple times, without causing various failures due to "Table Already Exists" and so on.
But, for triggers, I would never do that, since this has CREATE OR REPLACE.
For triggers, I just (This time script is plain static SQL)

AA6 - Move To Beginning/Ending Of A Selection And Deselect

Hello...
In AA3- you could make a selection, then click at the beginning/ending of the selection. It would deselect the selection and move the play head to that position.
In AA5.5 you had to use the left/right arrows to do the same task.
In AA6, neither work. If you left/right arrow, the play head moves but it moves down/up the timeline (not to the beginning/ending) and it doesn't deselect. Ctrl+left/right arrow does move the play head to the appropriate places (as well as other places) but it doesn't deselect.
Is there a way to do this with AA6?
I used it a lot when doing track breaks for cd (home, shift+click at 5:00, f8, right arrow, shift+click at 10:00, f8, etc...). I also used it where I wanted to have only 0.5 seconds of extra silence at the beginning/ending of some audio (click at the beginning of the audio, drag backwards 0.5 seconds, left arrow, shift+home, delete).

Since you're doing this for CD, I think I have a method that would be faster for you.
1. Home, Shift+M (This sets the playhead to the start and places a CD Track Marker at the playhead).
2. Click where you want this track to end and the next to start and again press Shift+M.
3. Continue placing single point CD Track Markers at each location where you want the last track to end and the new one to start (including adding one to the very end).
4. When all markers have been added, open the Markers Panel and select all the markers.
5. Press the icon in the Markers Panel for "Merge selected markers".
Now if you want to burn the CD, just go to "File > Export > Burn Audio to CD..." and we will burn a CD with track markers where you hae defined them.

Snapping cursor line to end of clips

I recently upgraded from 1.5 to 3 and for some reason by default the play line thing doesnt snap to the end of clips automatically. Does anyone know how to find the option that will allow that line, i dont know what its called, the line that scrolls past the clips when you hit play, how to make it so that when you click hold and move that line it automatically snaps to the end of the clip when it passes it?

Maybe you need to turn on the relevant Snapping option, Snap to Clip. They appear in a drop down menu when you right click on the Timeline at the bottom of the screen.

Timeline removing start and end of clips

Apologies if this has been posted before - got through 20 of the 116 pages to look for it!
iMovie 6.0.1 appears to have a bug when dragging clips from clip pane into timeline. Start and end of clip are cut off. Same occurs when adding transition in timeline. This does not happen when working in clip viewer rather than timeline, though there is still a small loss when adding transitions (this probably accounts for a previous posting complaining about loss of audio synch when adding transitions).

How do i get the playhead to start at the beginning of a clip?

This should be an easy one. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to play from the beginning of a clip (region).
Isn't there a setting that will allow me do play directly from the beginning of a clip, and not just from the beginning of a session, or from a marker?

Forgot about that one.

A portion of the audio is missing on the end of clips?

Using Adobe Premiere Elements 7 a portion of the audio is missing on the end of clips after I bring it in. The files are motion JPEG AVI .

Welcome to the forum.
I do not recall seeing any issue with muxed MJPEG files, regarding truncated Audio. First, take a look at this ARTICLE on MJPEG files.
Next, all Audio files (muxed or elemental streams) must be Conformed, which converts them to 32 bit, floating point files for editing. If one does not allow the Conforming to complete 100%, the Audio can be truncated. See this ARTICLE.

The query will throw error if the schema where you are executing has more than "1" function or procedure in the system.
Its not clear in your requirement.

Popping sounds at end of clips

Hey
I'm using Audition CS6 (windows) and I'm getting these click/pop sounds at the end of clips in multitrack. If I open the individual clips up to edit and play it through there isn't any sign of it. However if I play the clip through in edit mode and stop it near the point where the pop is I will hear the pop when I hit stop. The irritating thing is if I do a mix down these little errors are still there and they are pretty loud!
Any idea what could cause this? I'm using windows 7 and Cs6.

Without seeing the waveforms and/or hearing what you've got this is a complete shot in the dark -- and probably unlikely since it sounds like this is happening to multiple files and not just one but:
1) Does the audio in your clips end with the waveform much above or below 0 amplitude? (You need to zoom in extra close to see if this is the case) If your wave stops too far above or below the line, and then suddenly drops to 0 as it's playing through in a mix it can cause clicks.
2) Do you have the gain boosted on these clips anywhere in the multitrack mix window? If so, maybe you've got a click in the wavefore that's not too noticeble when playing in the edit window, but boosting the gain in the multitrack makes it more noticeble.

Adding transitions and titles: no choosing ends of clips?

Hi there,
Does anyone have a clue about the following:
When setting a theme you can choose to tick the box 'add transitions and titles'. According to the tutorial you should get the following options about the end of clips in your projects:
- Overlap ends and shorten clip
- Extend ends etc.
How come I do not have this option? I'm working in Imovie 8.0.6.
Any suggestions? I would like to use these options now and then...

This was an option in iMovie 08, but it was removed in iMovie 09.
The current behavior is that it overlaps ends and shortens the clip. This is the way you would want it to behave for video. After you painstakingly edit out Uncle Joe picking has nose at the wedding, you don't want a transition to put the nose-picking back into your movie. The overall length of the movie stays the same.
For photos, it was useful to have the option of extending or overlapping and shortening. But this is no longer an option as far as I know.
