  • Visual Studio 2010 Production Release Version Numbers

    I uninstalled the beta and installed the production release.  After letting it convert my projects, I noticed that the version numbers for the .NET assemblies appear to be 13.0.2000.0 and in the beta version they were 14.0.2000.0.
    Can someone from SAP confirm the version numbers for the production release?

    Hello,
    You are correct. The final build is version 13. Long story due to download sizes and integration. I've updated 4 Images now both 32 and 64 bit and had no problems. Other major change is there is no connectivity to BOE Enterprise and no plans to add it.

  • Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 runtime LICENCE

    I want to welcome everyone. It's my first post on this forum.
    I want to provide my Windows Form application to a client. This application was written in VS 2010 and it uses SAP Crystal Reports for generating simple report.
    I've read [Crystal Reports Licensing Explained|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/10cd9e15-120d-2c10-3fb5-be299000b6b7&utm_source=crvs2010&utm_medium=lp&utm_campaign=licensing_explained] pdf and I've learnt that in my case redistribution of software that embeds the Crystal Reports runtime engine is free.
    My question is:
    Is there something else I must include in my application package for instance a licence file? Or maybe I just have to include SAP CR runtime or ask user to download it from the SAP web site and that's it?
    Marcin

    Hello Marcin,
    Welcome.
    Please note that whenever you distribute your application (which uses Crystal reports) to others who may not have Crystal designer product, you need to provide the runtimes along with the application. The runtimes provide the necessary dlls in the machine for running Crystal inside the app.
    You can use an exe to install the CR runtimes and then deploy your app. OR you can include the msm files and create a deployment package.
    You will get the runtimes for CR4VS2010 [here|/people/coy.yonce/blog/2010/11/12/crystal-reports-for-visual-studio-2010-production-release-now-availableCystlR%2528SAPWeblogs%253ACrystal+Reports%2529].

    ??? SDK 9.1 only support visual studio 2005? SDK XI only support visual studio 2010? I thought that adobe is a top product that uses the latest technology? Am I wrong?
    I want to develop a plugin for adobe acrobat 9+10+11 do I need “SDK 9.1 and Visual studio 2005” +“SDK 10 and Visual studio 2008” +“SDK 11 and Visual studio 2010”
    Can’t I develop this plugin with visual studio 2013?

    The SDK is produced when the version of Acrobat is released, so if you insist on using obsolete SDKs for obsolete Acrobat you can hardly criticise the Acrobat 9 SDK for being out of date.
    To develop for Acrobat 9 (obsolete)+10+11 you can use the Acrobat 9 SDK but it may require some work and expertise to get it to work in all versions. Get the other SDKs for reference.

  • Visual Studio 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010

    From a development perspective, if I have a Windows 2007 Operating System and download Sharepoint Foundation 2010, can I develop web parts using Visual Studio 2010?  Are there other components I need?
    When we convert to SharePoint Server 2013 in production, is there a version of VS that will allow me to remotely access that server?

    Hi,
    If your server have already installed the SharePoint Foundation 2010, we can develop web parts using Visual Studio 2010/2012/2013.
    If you want to convert to SharePoint Server 2013 in production, you need use Visual Studio 2012/2013 and install Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2012 which can be found here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/eng/office-dev-tools-for-visual-studio (direct install :

  • SharePoint 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Packaging a solution - The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

    Hi,
    I have a solution that used to contain one SharePoint 2010 project. The project is named along the following lines:
    <Company>.<Product>.SharePoint - let's call it Project1 for future reference. It contains a number of features which have been named according
    to their purpose, some are reasonably long and the paths fairly deep. As far as I am concerned we are using sensible namespaces and these reflect our company policy of "doing things properly".
    I first encountered the following error message when packaging the aforementioned SharePoint project into a wsp:
    "The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters."
    I went through a great deal of pain in trying to rename the project, shorten feature names and namespaces etc... until I got it working. I then went about gradually
    renaming everything until eventually I had what I started with, and it all worked. So I was none the wiser...not ideal, but I needed to get on and had tight delivery timelines.
    Recently we wanted to add another SharePoint project so that we could move some of our core functinality out into a separate SharePoint solution - e.g. custom workflow
    error logging. So we created another project in Visual Studio called:
    <Company>.<Product>.SharePoint.<Subsystem> - let's call it Project2 for future reference
    And this is when the error has come back and bitten me! The scenario is now as follows:
    1. project1 packages and deploys successfully with long feature names and deep paths.
    2. project2 does not package and has no features in it at all. The project2 name is 13 characters longer than project1
    I am convinced this is a bug with Visual Studio and/or the Package MSBuild target. Why? Let me explain my findings so far:
    1. By doing the following I can get project2 to package
    In Visual Studio 2010 show all files of project2, delete the obj, bin, pkg, pkgobj folders.
    Clean the solution
    Shut down Visual Studio 2010
    Open Visual Studio 2010
    Rebuild the solution
    Package the project2
    et voila the package is generated!
    This demonstrates that the package error message is in fact inaccurate and that it can create the package, it just needs a little help, since Visual Studio seems to
    no longer be hanging onto something.
    Clearly this is fine for a small time project, but try doing this in an environment where we use Continuous Integration, Unit Testing and automatic deployment of SharePoint
    solutions on a Build Server using automated builds.
    2. I have created another project3 which has a ludicrously long name, this packages fine and also has no features contained within it.
    3. I have looked at the length of the path under the pkg folder for project1 and it is large in comparison to the one that is generated for project2, that is when it
    does successfully package using the method outlined in 1. above. This is strange since project1 packages and project2 does not.
    4. If I attempt to add project2 to my command line build using MSBuild then it fails to package and when I then open up Visual Studio and attempt to package project2
    from the Visual Studio UI then it fails with the path too long error message, until I go through the steps outlined in 1. above to get it to package.
    5. DebugView shows nothing useful during the build and packaging of the project.
    6. The error seems to occur in
    CreateSharePointProjectService target called at line 365 of
    Microsoft.VisualStudio.SharePoint.targetsCurrently I am at a loss to work out why this is happening? My next task is to delete
    project2 completely and recreate it and introduce it into my Visual Studio solution.
    Microsoft, can you confirm whether this is a known issue and whether others have encountered this issue? Is it resolved in a hotfix?
    Anybody else, can you confirm whether you have come up with a solution to this issue? When I mean a solution I mean one that does not mean that I have to rename my namespaces,
    project etc... and is actually workable in a meaningful Visual Studio solution.

    Hi
    Yes, I thought I had fixed this my moving my solution from the usual documents  to
    c:\v2010\projectsOverflow\DetailedProjectTimeline
    This builds ok, but when I come to package I get the lovely error:
    Error 2 The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters. C:\VS2010\ProjectsOverflow\DetailedProjectTimeline\VisualDetailedProjectTimelineWebPart\Features\Feature1\Feature1.feature VisualDetailedProjectTimeline
    Now, the error seems to be related to
    Can anyone suggest what might be causing this. Probably some path in an XML file somewhere. Here is my prime suspect!
    <metaData>
    <type name="VisualDetailedProjectTimelineWebPart.VisualProjectTimelineWebPart.VisualProjectTimeline, $SharePoint.Project.AssemblyFullName$" />
    <importErrorMessage>$Resources:core,ImportErrorMessage;</importErrorMessage>
    </metaData>
    <data>
    <properties>
    <property name="Title" type="string">VisualProjectTimelineWebPart</property>
    <property name="Description" type="string">My Visual WebPart</property>
    </properties>
    </data>
    </webPart>
    </webParts>
    .... Unless I can solve this I will have to remove the project and recreate but with simple paths. Tho I will be none the wiser if I come across this again.

  • Image Quality In Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010

    I am using the new production release of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 and I am having an issue with image quality when adding an image to a crystal report.
    The image itself is a .TIF file,  and when opened in Windows, the quality of the image, which is mostly text, is very high. The image was created from a electronic PDF form and I intend to use this as a background for the crystal report, over which I will place data fields.
    As soon as the image is added to the report you can see the degradation in quality in the design window and in the preview window within visual studio. The quality remains low when viewing the report in the WPF report viewer and when printing from this control.
    I have ensured the "Retain Original Image Color Depth" option is checked but this has made no difference (the image is black and white anyway).
    The image in the report has been left at its native size, no resizing at all. The image is 355KB in size if that's relevant.
    Is there a reason the image looses quality when added to a report? Is it being compressed? More importantly, is there a way to make the image retain its native quality when adding it to a crystal report?
    Thanks in advance.

    The following image is the image I am trying to display. Although imageshack has converted it to a png, if you right click and save the image you can open it and zoom in with little image degradation.
    http://img132.imageshack.us/i/j301.png
    The following is a screen shot of how the tif file looks in the designer when zooming in:
    http://img138.imageshack.us/i/j30lowquantity.jpg
    The second image has lost its clarity and is unusable when printing.
    I hope this helps.

    Hi Anil,
    According to the error message "User cancelled installation" and the log "Process exited with code 1602", it seems that it is you cancelled the installation that cause the install fail. Is that true? If yes, please reinstall
    it without cancelling it. You can take the following steps:
    Download "Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime" from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42513 .
    Run the downloaded vstor_redist.exe with admin.

  • RoboHelp 10 and Visual Studio 2010

    The company I work for is thinking about buying RoboHelp 10 to create an offline user help system for a WPF Ribbon Application being developed in Visual Studio 2010. I have been tasked with finding the recommended output format from RoboHelp 10 AND the best viewer for Visual Studio 2010. CHM output format is not an option. I have searched the web and found nothing that addresses both products. Does anyone know the best output format to use AND/OR what is the best viewer? Any / all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Visual Studio does have its own ability to create a help file. Here's the home page of Paul O'Rear's blog. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/thehelpguy/ You will also find information at http://www.helpware.net. You need to research that to find out if that would suit. This is not the forum for that topic.
    Aside from that, the first issue is where is the help going to reside? If it is on a web server, then WebHelp would be an option. That can also be run locally but you may encounter some issues if you need links to PDF files. If the help is going to be installed locally, what's the objection to CHMs? In RoboHelp 10 they can be skinned to look like WebHelp.

  • Stand Alone Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010

    I wish to use the stand alone product to edit Crystal Report .rpt files created with Visual Studio 2010
    Is CR 2011 stand alone.product the right tool?
    Using CR 2008, I receive a warning message if I open a .rpt created al VS 2010.
    Likewise, if I import the edited .rpt file to VS, another message pop ups saying that it will be updated to a newer version.
    Thank you in advance
    Edited by: Roberto Mirelman on Oct 21, 2011 2:59 PM

    You are correct.
    CR 2011 reports can be run in CR for VS 2010.
    Technically you can still use CR 2008 to edit your reports and shouldnt see any problems other than getting the prompt all the time.  I am not sure if using CR 2011 will cause prompting as well so you may want to try it our using the trial version first.

  • Issue with New Release Deploying Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010

    Previously I created a deployment project with Visual Studio 2010 using the Beta 2 release of the distributable. This worked fine and installed on a 32-bit XP machine.
    I've since updated the project to use the new Release version of the distributable CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi. Now when I run the installed program it gives me the following message -
    "An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information."
    I've had a look at verious posts and added code to the app.config file so it looks like -
    <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true">
    <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0"/>
    </startup>
    and also tried targetting various .NET frameworks, but without success.
      Am I missing something?

    Hello,
    More info, are you installing on the same PC as the Beta was installed on or a clean PC?
    Your app must be set to the full framework, not the client version.
    Are you installing by right clicking on your setup.exe and selecting run as administrator?
    Setting that option in the app.config is only required if you are using that driver you found the info on.
    Run ProcessMonitor and set it to filter your installer and see what it reports.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 - JavaScript error on IE

    Hi,
    A few months ago we migrated our projects to Visual Studio 2010 and started using CR for VS2010 beta. We've installed our ASP.Net application several times using the beta version and now that you released the final version of CR for VS2010, we updated the Crystal Reports runtime of the production server (after removing the beta version).
    We installed the 32Bit version and our application is configured to use ASP.Net 2.0/.Net Framework 3.5 and the Application Pool in IIS 7.5 is in Classic Mode.
    The error happens only in IE 8 and 9 beta (not tested on prior versions of IE).
    This is the error message:
      SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support this property or method  allInOne.js, line 10 character 216668

    Couple of things that bother me here:
    1) Installing a Beta product on a production server(?)
    2) Uninstall of Beta
    Re. (1), water under a bridge I suppose...
    Re. (2). My testing of the Beta uninstall indicates that it is not clean with a number of folders, reg entries, etc., left behind. I would thus suggest the following;
    1) Uninstall the CRVS2010 RTM runtime
    2) In file explorer, look for SAP BusinessObjects folder under c:\program files(x86) and delete it (and it's subfolders).
    3) In the registry, look under HKLM\Software and remove SAP BusinessObjects.
    4) Do the same under HKCU
    5) Install the CRVS2010 runtime.

  • Error LNK1123 on Windows 7 Visual Studio 2010

    I tried to build the Windows verison of PuTTY on my Windows 7 workstation using VS 2010. The code compiled with some warnings about deprecated functions but it produces an error 'LNK1123: failure during conversion to COFF: file invalid
    or corrupt'.
    I  went to the Property Pages->Linker->General and set incremental linking to 'No'. I also entered the folder path where the file 'cvtres.exe' is located. I also installed Visual Studio 2010 SP1. I also set 'Embed Manifest' to 'No'. Nothing
    seems to work.
    I have rebooted and rebuilt the entire project at least ten times with the changes mentioned above implemented. There is something else I probably missed however, I do not see it in the threads on the various blogs and forums.

    Hi Taurus64,
    >>I tried to build the Windows verison of PuTTY on my Windows 7 workstation using VS 2010.
    If it generated the error when you build your project, I doubt that this forum is not the correct forum for this issue since this forum is to discuss the VS IDE.
    But one important issue is that whether it is related to third party product. Would you mind letting us know more information about the "PuTTY "?
    Maybe you could get better support here:

  • Crystal Report errors when installing visual studio 2010 app

    I'm trying to install a Visual Studio 2010 application on two client's machines and I get a different error on each one.  Both errors point to Crystal Reports.
    I have a feeling that I'm supposed to install something on the client's machines but I'm not sure what.
    The first client's error says that CrystalDecisions.Windows.Form Version 13.0.2000.0 cannot be loaded.
    The second client's error says that FlashControlV71. Version 1.0.3187.32366 needs to be installed in the GAC.
    What am I supposed to install on the client's machines?  Or if that's not the problem, what is causing the errors?
    This is my first visual studio app so I'm a complete newbie.
    Thanks for any help or advice.

    Thanks for your reply.  I installed the runtime (x64) and am now getting a new error on the first client's machine.  I think it's telling me that I installed the wrong version of the runtime.  The client is running x64t Win 7 so I chose the x64 runtime to install.
    System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception. ---> CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.LoadSaveReportException: An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.

    The second client is running XP.  The error I'm getting on their machine is this:
         CrystalDecisions.Shared.CrystalReportsException: Load report failed. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException:    Unsupported Operation. A document processed by the JRC engine cannot be opened in the C++ stack.
    Thank you for your help.
