Visual Studio Community 2013 Instalation

I had installed VS_Community_2013 successfully and later needed to do a system recovery.  After recovery to Windows 8.1 I get an immediate error message when trying to reinstall VS_Community_2013.  Are there any solutions to this problem?
Thanks.

This error: "MUX:  ERROR: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." appears numerous times in your install log.
This error can be associated with a corrupt download or with Windows Installer issues.
Are you installing from ISO? If so, did you verify the ISO SHA-1?
To verify the SHA-1: Correct value is 051425045547B212228AB0B5A7BAF8E0B686E886
I suggest you get the ISO here:
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9863609
After you download it, I suggest you use this tool
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the ISO. The point of the exercise is to generate a hash value (SHA1) from the ISO file so that it can be checked against the known value for that file. Any discrepancy would indicate that the file
was corrupted.
If you have already tried to install from a verified ISO, then you will need to repair your OS installation. For help with that:

  • Cannot install Visual Studio Community 2013 - Error message "Visal Studio 2013 Ultimate is installed..."

    Hello,
I am trying to install Visual Studio Community 2013 in my machine but when I start the setup process I get the followingerror message:
    Setup Blocked
Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 is currently installed on this machine. Please uninstall Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 and retry.
The problem is that I used to have VS Ultimate 2013 (Preview Edition, I think) installed on my machine but I've uninstalled it some time ago. It looks like something was left over in process.
What I've tried to do was to install VS Ultimate 2013 again, perform a repair operation and then uninstall it again. This uninstall process is reported to be successful. However, it did not solve my problem: VS Community 2013 installation still fails.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
    Thank you,
    João Pedro

"I used to have VS Ultimate 2013 (Preview Edition, I think) installed "
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this sort of situation is exactly why potential users of pre-release software are warned NOT to install test software on production systems. While a new software version is in development, one of the LAST things to
be finalized is the uninstaller. So, uninstalling a test edition often leaves behind unwanted artifacts.
In your situation, I'd do a clean install of my OS, then install VS.

Hi, can anyone help me further diagnose?

    I installed the 2013 update 4 just recently (3/23)
I was getting this error back in February

    Hi HuggyPaul,
Thank you for posting in MSND forum.
    >>whenever I try to sign into Visual Studio Community 2013 I get a bunch of clicking sounds, and then  "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later."
Based on your issue, I suggest you could try to use an another microsoft live-in user account to sign in the Visual Studio Community 2013 to check if you can sign in the VS2013 Community with update 4.
Or you could try to use same user account to sing same version of VS2013 Communty with Update 4 on other machien and the check if you can sign in this VS 2013 Community with update 4.
(1)If you could sign in the VS2013 Community update4 by the another user account on your machien, I think that the issue maybe related to your user account.
(2)If you still could not sign in VS 2013 Community update 4, maybe you will need to repair or re-install this VS2013 Community with update 4.
In addition, please tell me what browser you use on your machine.
If your machien just insatall other browser such as chrome, please try to install the IE and then check this issue again.
From this error message, i find a similar thread about your issue, maybe it can help you.

  • Cannot sign into Visual Studio Community 2013 to extend lincence - VS attempts to start Internet Explorer

    Hello,
I noticed that my trial period for VS Community 2013 expired. While waiting for my company to get a real purchased licence I have to continue working one way or another. I would like to extend my licence by signing into the VS community. However, the MS
Internet Explorer is disabled by company policy due to safety issues. Now, VS Community 2013 only and always attempts to open MS Explorer whenever I try to sign in, or check for updated versions, or whatever. I cannot find a workaround to open the links in
    another browser but MS Explorer.
Please help me to extend my licence so I can keep working! I cannot (!) ever use the MS Explorer for this, so I need to find another solution. Any suggestions, please?
    Thanks in advance,

So could you please provide me the detailed error message after you sing in the Visual Studio Community 2013?
What browser you use to sing in this VS Community 2013?
Generally, I know that we can sign in this VS Community 2013 successfully using the default MS Internet Explorer browser.
So if possible, I suggest you could try to enable MS Internet Explorer browser and then try to sign in this VS Community 2013 check this issue again.
In addition, I suggest you could also try to sing in a Microsoft web page such as a Hotmail email using your browser and then check if you could sing in successfully.
However, I suggest you could try to consult about how to extend license for this VS Community 2013 by

  • Visual Studio Community 2013 does not show database explorer

I am a Newbie who wants to learn web development. it seems in older version of visual studio, when you add a database item in solution explorer there is a database explorer.
but now in my visual studio 2013, if i add a database item, there is no database explorer to let me browse table or others below. Why? I installed SQL express and Visual Studio on windows 8.1 x64
Also any pointers to free tutorial on the internet that lets me learn and practise working with database in a web application?

    Hello Lenny,
Can you see Server Explorer in your VS? What about show us a sceenshot so that we can understand your problem.
I do not have VS 2013 Community right now but in my point of view you should have related components. I will also install VS Community later and share you some info.

  • Visual Studio Community 2013 on Windows 8.1 pro - how can I develop for Sharepoint (Office 365)?

    Hello everybody from Italy.
As stated on the subject, I'd like to develop some solutions for my Office 365's SharePoint site.
I'm absolutely new to Visual Studio usage, too :-)
I downloaded and installed VS Community 2013 and SharePoint 2013 SDK (along with ... but still no luck, VS keeps saying that I need to have SharePoint installed locally in order to develop solutions for SharePoint.
    What now?
    F. Simonetti - UNIX Sysadmin - Sharepoint learner

    Ok, I managed to:
remove the "somewhat offending" custom list (I'll add it later after realizing what I was doing wrong)
create one custom list without any specific feature (I called it List1)
create another list based on Contacts, kept absolutely default (called List2)
    build&deploy the app
Ok, now the "app" is there (on my devel environment), doing absolutely nothing (because I didn't create any form or page or whatever). But I have a Contact list! I should be able to sync it to Outlook desktop!
This page helped me to understand how I can reach the list created inside the app (https://devtenant.sharepoint.com/AppName/Lists/List2)
... but I had a bad surprise: no option to sync the Contact list with my Outlook desktop application. This remains true even after having activated the "Offline Synchronization for External Lists" feature inside Site Settings/Site Features menu.
So, the Contact-like list inside the app has lost about 80% of interest... not being able to sync it with Outlook is a severe limitation. I'm assuming that every list created inside an app will suffer of the same problem, is it true?
By the way, how I'm supposed, after having eventually finished my work on the app, to install it on the "real" work environment, that is completely unrelated to the development site (being the "work" site a mere "Business
    Premium" Subscription)?
I tried to deploy the app to the "non devel" site with no luck: VS says that the destination site is not configured for sideloading apps.
    Many thanks in advance, Ashish.

  • Develop streaming data processing applications in C# with Stream Computing Platform and Storm in HDInsight. Can this be done with Visual Studio Community sign up?

    Hello,
I am a  student and love the Visual Studio Community 2013 to implement some of my research projects. I am currently working on a project that involves streaming data analysis. I found this article ( http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/hdinsight-hadoop-storm-scpdotnet-csharp-develop-streaming-data-processing-application/
) but do not have MSDN subscription (I cannot afford it)  as required in the article. Can this be done somehow with Visual Studio Community 2013 sign up?
Thank you all in advance for your time and for your help.
    J.K.W

    Hi,
I just confirmed that the key with Visual Studio Community is that, although it is free like Express, it does not have the limitations that Visual Studio Express had. So, to answer your question, Yes - you can do all your development work as a student with
VS Community 2013 sign up. You can also refer to this blog for more details -

  • Can't install Visual Studio Professional 2013

Just got a new PC with a fresh install of Windows 8.1. I went to Dreamspark to download VS for my uni work, I got for Visual Studio Professional 2013 Update 4 web installer.
Only problem is every time I try to install I get an error message:
    Set Up Failed!

    KB2829760LP User Cancelled installation
I've tried to install on the Administrator account, re-downloaded the installer, got the ISO... I also tried to uninstall DirectX SDK and the distro's that came with it as I remember having problems installing it together with VS last time, but that didn't
work here. Thought I should mention the SDK here as it was the only thing I had installed before Visual Studio.
Thanks in advance for any help, I have saved an installing log if anyone needs to see it.

  • Just installed Visual Studio express 2013. Start menu folder empty.

I just installed Visual Studio express 2013 For desktop.  On to my windows 7, 64 bit laptop.
After it installs it asks you if you would like to launch the program.  So I clicked launch.  And it never launched.
Furthermore when I go Into my start menu.  I find why the Visual Studio 2013 folder.
    And it's empty.
So I went ahead and tried to reinstall Visual Studio express 2013.
After I reinstalled it I had to restart my computer.  I have done that.  And my start menu folder is still empty.
I have no way of finding the executable file for Visual Studio express 2013.
And if I could I'm not confident that it would launch.
I decided maybe I should uninstalled completely and reinstall it.
    I went to control panel>uninstall a program.
I selected Microsoft Visual Studio express 2013.
    And then I selected uninstall.
a window pops up that says.  " Microsoft Visual Studio express 2013 for windows desktop has stopped working.   A problem caused the program to stop working correctly .  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.".
so I can't fully uninstall the program.  And reinstalling the program doesn't help.
why is this happening. What do I do. How do I fix this?

    Hi HAL9090,
    >>I find why the Visual Studio 2013 folder. And it's empty. And my start menu folder is still empty.
Do you mean that you can't find VS2013 in the start menu? Please click "All Programs" in the start menu to see if you can find it.
If you still can't find it, could you please tell us how you install it? From the web installer or by the downloaded setup file? If you have the ISO image, I suggest you verify its checksum. Perhaps you need to re-download one. If you have no one, please
    download it from
Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2013 with Update 4 for Windows Desktop - English
    DVD5 ISO image
    The correct checksum is
    4AE40D10B303C034F6D6230CE21F0295E5CD708C
    You can download the
fciv.exe tool to verify the checksum.
Once it matches the correct one, please make sure that your windows is patched up and disable the anti-virus software. At last, install VS.
What's more, it seems that you can't uninstall VS2013. If you want to uninstall it, you can use the setup file to uninstall it. Please double click it to open it, then you can choose to uninstall it in the pop up dialog.

  • Cannot install Visual Studio Community Edition

    Hi,
When trying to install Visual Studio Community Edition with Update 4 I receive a message during the initial phase: "Unable to locate package source"
When I choose "Download packages from the internet" I got the same message. When I continue with the option "Skip package" I got the message again.
    What is the issue here?
    Thanks!

The file seems to be corrupt. This time I got an error after 2% of the download saying that the download was interrupted. After clicking resume it just took seconds before the download seemed to has finished correctly. But probably not... Could the download
issue maybe has something to do with the fact I am in Thailand, or what could be the issue here?
By the way, when I try to download Visual Studio 2013 Express for Web using Web Platform Installer I receive this error:
WHY do I get this error. I don't have Visual Studio installed...
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    By the errors:

It maybe a registry or administrator issue.
    Please install VS with administrator.
What's more, it maybe a corrupt registry issue. And you can't install any version of Visual Studio, I think you can use the tool to fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled. It also can fix the corrupted registry keys.

  • Visual Studio Community Edition - Error on creating ribbon for Excel Workbook project

Hi. I've been struggling with this for a couple of days now so I hope someone can help me.
I have installed Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition. On installation there was no option to include VSTO and, looking on various forums, I found it was necessary to install the VSTO - November 2014 update separately, which I have done. I'm working on a
brand new virtual server (Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) and no other versions of Visual Studio have been installed (although I'm surprised to see Visual Studio 2012 as an item in All Programs - but it just contains command prompts).
I have created an Excel Workbook project. When I go to create a new item - Ribbon (Designer) - I get the error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.Implementation, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I've searched the Internet for anyone who might have had this same issue but have been unable to find anything to help me. I've tried uninstalling the VSTO-November Update and VS 2013 CE and reinstalling both but still the same problem.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    David.

    Hello David,
What Office version do you have installed on the problematic machine?
Do you run Visual Studio as an administrator?

  • How do I create a view in SQL Server in Visual Studio Express 2013 for Desktop?

    Hi
I've got a SQL Server database set up using the internal SQL Server in Visual Studio Express 2013 for Desktop. I want to create a view (using tables with one to many relationships) but I don't
    know how to do it.
Where can I find a good tutorial on creating views in SQL Server in Visual Studio Express 2013 for Desktop? I think Visual Studio Express 2013 for Desktop doesn't have some view designer that
exists in the non-express version of Visual Studio (if I'm not mistaken). So I think I'd need a tutorial on how to do the actual SQL, unless there is some tool I don't know about.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
According to your description, if you install SQL Server SQL Server 2014 Express and SQL Server Manager Studio tools (SSMS), if you want to create a view, you can use SSMS. Then if you want to connect to and Diagram your SQL Express Database in Visual Studio
2013, you can attach the database file by using the .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server in Visual Studio, and create a database diagram via expanding the “Database Diagrams” node.
For more information, there is similar issue about how to connect to and Diagram your SQL Express Database in Visual Studio 2012 , you can review the following article,
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bethmassi/archive/2011/10/27/how-to-connect-to-and-diagram-your-sql-express-database-in-visual-studio-lightswitch.aspx.
