It's a vendor product!Just to clarify, JFreeChart is free software, it is licensed under the GNU LGPL. You get the complete source code, including lots of demos, Javadoc HTML pages, an install document in PDF format, and access to the support forum for absolutely no charge. You don't have to pay a fee to unlock special features in the software, everything is there in the free download.
As a way of funding the project, we sell a JFreeChart Developer Guide which includes a lot more information about using JFreeChart. But it is only the documentation we sell, not the software.

Multi language support for BI graphs

Hi All,
We are using Bi Beans 10.1.2 and AWM 102030. In a particulars field, we have values in many languages say English, Japanese, Korean etc. We are getting the output of database correctly in these languages. But once we create the BI graphs, it shows some junk characters for the values other than English. I am relatively new to AWM and BI. Can anybody help me in getting these language support in BI graphs?

when you read it you will recognize it does make a difference between the actual data that you retrieve and the meta-data being retrieved from BW.
Meta-Data:

charts. In order to turn it off this property, edit the file dvt-graph-skin.xml from the following location on your

Show 2 line graphs together in Line bar combo graph

Hi,
I am currently working on to show data for 2 years (which will be selected through prompt), month on month basis in Line-Bar Combo Graph.
I could achieve to show 2 years of data month on month basis in Bar Diagram, but the same is not happening for Line diagram.
In Line Diagram, values for 2 years are joined and shown as a single line, where as I want to see 2 separate lines for the years selected.

I can arrange the Attendance booking (Bar Diagram), as Month-on-Month basis for any 2 years.
My aim is to plot Utilization Rate, in the Line Diagram. Currently it's been shown as One Single Line, I want to see 2 different line for the 2 years selected.

I am not sure what you mean by an X-Bar graph. R has a box plot. Is that perhaps what you want?

Build to Flash - won't support video for menu backgrounds?

I spent hours on a project that includes After Effects motion menu components included as a video background with a loop point. What looks great in preview and on DVD apparently falls a part in Flash. Flash doesn't show the video background in the main menu. Also - it sure would be nice if Encore included a "preload" progress bar for progressive downloads.
Anyone an expert with using Encore to build to Flash? Are there any other do's and don't I should know about?

I can wait. After all, it was by waiting for the release of the 10h version after the 10e version sabotaged my flash installation, that I was eventually able to at least get Firefox up and running flash again...
It's just frustrating to think that the folks at Adobe can't come up with a better product testing cycle so they are unleashing these problems on end users systems...
I recognize that there may be some sort of issue with my particular system registry. If so, I wish I knew what it was...but flash releases are the only installations I ever have any difficulty with...All of the other software I run updates without failing....sad to say...
Perhaps I will try running a home edition version of secedit (See here)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222 instead of the clean or repair install...I'll let you know what I decide and how it works out...

BAM DataControl with Bar/Pie Graph

I am using 11.1.1.7 of J Developer/ADF.
I have a pie graph and a horizontal bar graph next to each other on a page fragment using a task flow. Both graphs use the same BAM data control. It appears like Active Data Service is turned on for the pie graph, while for the bar graph it is turned off. When data changes in BAM, the pie graph appears refreshed, while the bar graph is not refreshed. When creating the graphs, I didn't make modifications to any of the settings on the graphs.
Why are the graphs acting differently? How can I get both graphs to either update through ADS, or not update at all? I'm looking for consistent behavior between the graphs.

don't know how BAM reacts if there are two uses of the data control. So my best suggestion is - if you have a support contract - to create a test case and file a service request to have the development team to follow up on this i a bug gets filed. Have you tries task flows with isolated data control floes to ensure separate DC frames are used.

Spry Menu Bar using CSS background image without losing submenu ( V) indicators

Spry menu bar sets the down and side submenu indicators using
a positioned background image. I have a requirement to use a
specific background image yet must retain the > and v submenu
indicators. Without having to generate full width custom background
images for each of the menu item types to include the side and down
menu indicators, is there anyway to use a generic background image
and show the indicators using just CSS?

Don't use reserved words in JS

event is such a reserved word. If you change this to event1 then all is well.

How can you create the first level of a spry menu bar to have no colour? I have a coloured background right now and the colour matches when you load the site in Internet explorer but does not match in Firefox. Any suggestions are welcomed on how to fix this.

Visually impaired - Wish to change background colors ...

Hi, What I wish to do sounds simple to me, yet I cannot see a way to do it. I want the title bar to be white with black text, or it could be dark blue with bold white text, either would work fine. I want the menu bars to be on a white background. I want the URL/search box (I use Omnibar) to be white background. I want the vertical scroll bar to be a dark slider on a white background with a thin black border.
Like in the good old days, I think. :)

Using Firefox 6.02, soon going to 7.x. Win7 SP1 x-64. Using one of the standard, old-fashioned Windows themes, but seems to have no effect in Firefox.

Amkeew, thanks for reminding me of NoSquint. I was using the zooming features but not the color features, so I set some things there, much easier.
The-edmeister, thanks for the suggestion, I was unaware of that site and will explore further.
But from all that I've seen thus far, I haven't found a simple way just to set the font and background color of the title bar, menu bars, URL bar, and the like. NoSquint does not appear to go there.
Perhaps I'll find an answer in AnyColor, that's highlighted on the site you mention above. Thanks!

Jdev 11g: several attributes are not supported by "simple" graph types

Hi,
My question is especially for Jdev development team. I want to discuss this issues first in this forum before I open a SR at Oracle Support.
Several attributes from dvt:graph are not supported in dvt:areagraph, dvt:linegraph or dvt:bargraph.
- TimeSelectorListener
- TimeRangeMode
- TimeAxisType --> supported for dvt:linegraph but not for dvt:areagraph. Why?
- TimeAxisListener
- TimeZone
- ExplicitTimeRangeStart
- ExplicitTimeRangeEnd
- ContinuousTimeAxisInterval
This means if I want (need) to use some of this attributes I need to use dvt:graph (advanced graph).
But here is the next problem:
This type of graph can't be selected from component palette or graph create wizard.
It's still possible to "convert" e.g. a dvt:linegraph to dvt:graph by editing the source code of jspx but in my opinion this should not be the normal way!
I also didn't get a clear answere if dvt:graph is desupported or will be desupported in the next release(s)
(see my previous post about advanced graph: Jdev 11g: Advanced graph no longer supported?
Conclusio:
======
If the attributes I mention above are still supported and needed (also in further releases) than they either need to be supported by the relevant simple graph tags or dvt:graph must be selectable from component palette.
If dvt:graph is planned to be de-supported in further releases than this should be made public to avoid development of applications with non-supported components.

you should have followed up on the thread you reference. First of all, Katia gave you the answer of how to get the listener working

Syncronized scroll bar on graphs

Hi together,
I have a program with several graphs. Is it possible to syncronize the graphs so that all graphs scroll if I scroll on the scroll bar of on graph? I remeber that this is at least possible in LabView...

As an alternative to Wolfgang solution, you can add your own scrollbar to the graphs using the scrollbar instrument driver, located in \toolslib\custctrl folder in your CVI installation. Look at the sample program in samples\userint\custctrl\scrollbar folder.
Adding a scrollbar to each graph and handling scrolling events from the controls you can syncronize your graphs. This of course once the graph has been zoomed so that only part of the plots are visible.
This is what CVI can offer for graphs. If you are usnig stripcharts, instead, then you can have a scrollbar shown when they are paused. In this moment, the chart callback should receive EVENT_HSCROLL events when the user operates on the scrollbar. In this moment you can probably get the X-axis scale and apply the same to the other charts. It is to be tested, though: I have nevere tried such a mechanism.
