Visual Voice Mail disappeared?

I received a text message to "select the Visual VM icon to reinstall"
Where is this icon? I thought it was built into the HTC Sense firmware. Ugh.
I can still "call in" to get my messages, but see no notification of voice mails.
Thx

  • All of a sudden all my voicemails disappeared in visual voice mail. Now today my visual voicemail is gone completely

When I go to voicemail it just dials my voicemail like the old days with a flip phone. I am no longer getting voicemail notifications either. Called sprint and they said it was apple's problem and a software update was needed. Apple denied this and recommended a hard reset which did not work. They are going to call me back later with other options to try to fix it but this requires that I have another phone which won't happen till later tonight. Any tips? I'd like to get visual voicemail back and I'd also like my old voicemails too! Is this a sprint or apply problem?

I was having the same problems as well as a few others and it really is a Sprint problem caused by the iOS 5.1 update. Apparently something about visual voice mail isn't 100% compatible with their system. They know about it and "are working on it" [eyeroll] but this is what I did to get mine working.
Since I don't have another phone to use I used Sprint Chat on my laptop. I had them reset my voicemail server (or something - just ask them to reset your voice mail). They will ask you to power your phone off before they do that. Once you let them know the phone is off they will do something on their end then ask you to power the phone on again. Now - the tech I had on chat wasn't that great so at that point it still wasn't fixed so I was asked to call the tech support number from another phone and talk with "advanced tech" because advanced tech can't help if you call them on the phone that has the problem. So I got off the chat. Then I found some things online so once the voicemail was reset on Sprint's end this is what I did.
Update your profile. Go to Phone keypad and put in ##UPDATE# [a.k.a. ##873283#] and press call. It will say "this will update your profile" and you press OK. Then when it's done it will say "profile updated" or something like that and you press OK. Then watch the upper left - in a few seconds it will say "searching" and when it says Sprint 3G the update/reload is done. Now you would think that's it but not quite.
NOW you need to call someone and ask them to call you back and leave you a voice mail. Once someone leaves you a voice mail the visual voice mail should reappear. You might need a couple of voice mails for the reset to work but mine only took one.
    So in summary:
    1. Have Sprint reset your voicemail
    2. Update your profile
    3. Have someone leave you a voice mail
    4. It should be fixed.
    Hope it works for others.

  • Messages can't be deleted from visual voice mail

    Hello,
When I delete a message on the visual voice mail (in my combox from Sunrise Switzerland) this message don't disappear, or it's deleted and come back in seconds and sometimes with the blue point marking it as non read!!!
Some times the phone "freeze" when deleting a message .. wich is not deleted after a moment, some seconds...
Someone can help??? I didn't anything on the net...
My iphone is a 4S, IOS 7.0.2 but already didn't work with 7.0.0. With 6 ... no problem...
    Thank you in advance, patjuju1868

I have exact same issue with verizon wireless in USA.  Issue happens abroad as well.
Visual voice mail fine until iOS 7.0.2.  iPhone 4S.  1.5 years old.

  • Iphone 4s visual voice mail doesn't work

I set up new iphone 4s and visual voice doesn't work
I wiped it out and restored..still no working
tried set up as new phone and still not working
    companion Iphone 4s works fine

Voice mail, including visual voice mail, is a carrier feature. Contact your carrier again and escalate the call until you get hold of someone with a clue.
This is assuming you're using a Straight Talk CDMA iPhone. If you're using an unlocked iPhone with a Straight Talk GSM SIM card, that's not supported by either StraightTalk or Apple.

  • Iphone 5 update to IOS 7, now visual voice mail does not work

I updated my Iphone 5 today to ios 7 and when it was done I noticed that when I went into the phone app and tapped on the voice mail icon it immediately dialed into voice mail.  Visual voice mail was not there.  I looked into some forums and turned on/off airplane mode, turned the phone off and on and reset network settings but it did not work.  How can I get Visual Voice Mail working for ios 7

        Hey there Bobehm,
I absolutely love the new iOS 7 update. It brings a whole new dimension to Apple devices. Let's make sure your visual voicemail continues to run on the new software.
Are you able to access other data applications successfully such as Safari? Are you having a similar issue where if you hit the visual voicemail icon it just auto dials your voicemail? Have you tried leaving yourself a voicemail as suggested by zona?
Please provide additional details so that I can better assist.

  • Text messages won't load, visual voice mail barely works, e-mail won't update

I've had the HTC Rhyme for about two weeks. Last week I noticed my text messages were not loading. I I turned the phone off a few times. Still no text messages loading. I spoke with Verizon CS and they tried several solutions that did not work. I finally reset my phone and my text messages started loading again...for a couple of days. Exactly one week later my text messages are not loading again. I am not gonna reset my phone again. In addition to no text messages not loading, my visual voicemail works sometimes ( voicemails show up hours later). My aol email does not update. When I mentioned this to the Verizon CS they said "instead of using the phone's email setup, I should download the aol app from the Google Play Store. So, I downloaded the aol mail app last week. Since I had to reset my phone I had to download the aol mail app again. But, now I can't find the aol mail app in the Google Play Store. I am VERY dissatisfied with this phone.

Sstelliott, I sorry to hear of the issue you are having with your phone and I’m here to help!
Are you able to send text and picture messages? How do you know when you are not receiving a message? Do you get an error message? Are you able to access the Internet on your phone? Are you using a third party message app?
Run the phone in safe mode http://bit.ly/tXe7I4 and have someone send you a text to see if you receive. I want to make sure a third party isn’t causing these issues.
In regards to the visual voice mail, do you notice you have the delayed message when you’re in a certain area? Make sure airplane mode is disabled and that you’re able to access the Internet. Also, make sure call forwarding is disabled by dialing *73 send from your cell. You’ll hear a few beeps and the call will drop. Finally, update the phone by dialing *228 send and selecting option 2 to update. Once the update is complete make sure you power cycle the phone.
The update should also help with the email issues. You mentioned you are unable to find the app in the Google Plat store. Go to the Play store and on the main page select the Menu key. Go to My Apps. There you should see the email app if you previously downloaded it before you did the hard reset.
If you are still having issues after the troubleshooting step above, please post back and I’ll be more than happy to further assist you.

  • Visual Voice Mail not working with Telcel

I have 2 cell phones with Telcel in Mexico, one iPhone 4 (company) and an iPhone 5S (personal)
On the company phone, Visual Voice mail works perfectly. But for almost a year I've been trying to get Telcel to fix it on my iPhone 5S with absolutely no success.
They've reset my Voice Mail service on their end several times.
They've told me I'm crazy and that the automated recording I get when pressing on Voice Mail is the correct service.
They've told me they need to take my phone to a service lot and mess with it
They've told me I need to fully reset the phone and delete everything on it for it to work
One Rep even said that I needed the most expensive Premium VIP phone plan for it to work...
It's amazing that the biggest carrier in Mexico has absolutely no training for their reps, or customer care and support technicians regarding iPhones, and scpecifically about this issue...
About a month ago  the red indicator for new messages turned on, and I've done EVERYTHING and it still stays on, reset the phone, reset network settings, have the carrier reset the voice mail service, used a carrier provided app to reset the service myself (it does disable an enable), upgraded to iOS 8, setup as a new phone, still the same issue.
Is there something Apple can do to enforce a minimum level of support from their business partners? If Visual Voice Mail did not work on my company phone... I would have no reason to complain, but its amazing that when I show both phones to the technicians with the different VM experience... they look at them like they are Moon Rocks, Asteroids, or a piece of God in my hands...  Frustrating not being able to get an answer from the carrier after almost a year...

Well I guess we have to write in english although we are from mexico and speak spanish, so I have the very same problem but mine started not log ago when I upgraded to an iPhone 6 Plus, VVM worked fine then the red bubble appeared in the phone icon, I have gone several times and just like you say the reps know nothing, they have activated over and over, reset VVM, I have turned off and on my phone, actually it's 2 phones we have with the same problem.
I just performed what pakoriv said and at least the red bubble went away but when i tap VVM it still calls *86 in both phones, the second one it's an upgrade from an LG phone so I understand if VMM does't work right away, but the first phone (or line) has been used with iphone since day 1.
I'll let you know if pakoriv method causes another effect later on my phone.

  • Why is basic visual voice mail free on the Note 3 and 2.99 a month for the S4 ?

Why is basic visual voice mail free on the Note 3 and 2.99 a month for the S4 ?

I'm trying to reach these issues myself. There are a few different flavors of voicemail:
Basic voice mail -- the kind you call in with your phone and press touch tones, like people used to do twenty years ago. Included with contract.
Basic visual voice mail -- see your messages listed by caller, choose which one to play. Included with contract, but only on certain phones. The Note yes, Galaxy s5 yes, Galaxy s4 no.
Visual Voice Mail -- the 2.99/mo version Verizon wants you to pay for. Has the features of 2, but also will transcribe your voice mails into text. Available on most phones because it is a Verizon app.
iphone visual voicemail. Same as 2, for all intents and purposes. Has always been included because Apple established it as a condition for the carriers to be permitted to sell them.
The mystery is number 2, what you are asking about. Though it is mentioned on a verizon comparison chart, 'basic visual voicemail' is not discussed in any verizon literature and I suspect most techs don't know about it yet. It seems to have been enabled with a kitkat update (version 4.4.4 of Android) that has been released on some, but not all phones. I think the way it worked is that users were given a free trial of the pay version of voicemail, but at the end of the trial were able to 'downgrade' to basic voicemail and keep that without paying.
I also have an S4, and basic /no cost visual voice mail does not seem to be possible, though I have heard there may be some ways to make it work with technical workarounds. I have not confirmed any of these methods but they almost certainly would not be recommended by Verizon staff.
To get back to your question, basic visual voicemail and what Verizon calls regular 'visual voicemail' are different products. The basic seems to be a recent product only available on some phones. The regular 'visual voicemail' is the pay service available on all phones.

  • Is there free voice mail service? if so how do i get it to work? all i see when i click the voice mail icon is the accept/decline for visual voice mail and that says theres a charge?

Is there free voice mail service? if so how do I set it up? When I click on the voice mail icon all I see is the accept/decline agreement for Visual Voice Mail and it said something about charges will be applied on my bill so I declined.

Your Basic voice mail is a free required program for you if you do not want Basic Visual Voice mail (free) or Premium which is a paid service. Basic Voice Mail set up is free and easy to do.
    1. Sign in to your My Verizon online account.
    2. On left side of page in Blue letters find the drop down menu. Click to open menu then go to change features and locate Basic Voice mail and click the Red add button.
    3. When you're done making this change click next at the bottom of the screen and then ok.
    4. Now go into your device and set up your  Basic voice mail program. You may continue to receive an error message for a period of time “Visual voice mail update”, just clear and disregard.

  • Having difficulty receiving visual voice mails droid x

    Greetings,
I just learned that Visual Voice Mail is part of my calling plan, so I decided to switch over.  I was using YouMail before which I don't really like.  I uninstalled YouMail and configured Verison Visual Voice mail (message says correctly) through the messaging app.  There's a little lock icon on the visual voice mail app if that means anything.  I've been unable to receive a test visual voicemail so far.

So glad you found the Visual Voicemail through Verizon Wireless, evadloop. I know it's discouraging when it's not working as well as you hoped, but don't give up yet! The first thing that comes to mind is that there would have been a Call Forwarding to YouMail set up before that may not have completely been turned off with the uninstallation of the app. Here's a great guide on how to use call forwarding, including how to deactivate it from your phone or computer: http://support.verizonwireless.com/how_to_use/caller_forwarding.html
Once call forwarding has been disabled, it should be as easy as logging into the Visual Voicemail application on your phone. From a home screen, select App menu > Voicemail. If presented, enter the voice mail password then select Login. The Visual Voicemail password is the same as the standard Voicemail password. If you need to reset the Voicemail password, here's a great how-to guide: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=17076
Once you've logged into Visual Voicemail and the call forwarding is disabled, you'll be receiving your voicemail notifications throught he Visual Voicemail application and enjoying this great feature.

  • Visual Voice Mail App?

I just got my phone, set up voicemail but there is no visual voice mail app in my applications so I can't set it up.  I tried to add the app through the Market Place but it said my phone already has it.  Where is it??

I had the same problem.  I ordered Visual Voice Mail, but could not find the app on my Samsung Stratosphere.  When I opened Voice Mail, the last menu option was, "Order Visual Voice Mail - $2.99" -- which made no sense, because it was already ordered and paid for.  I finally clicked on this button, and voila!  Underneath, there is another option if you already subscribed to Visual Voice.  Just enter your standard voice mail password, and Visual Voice sets itself up as the default view under the Voice Mail icon.
Verizon needs to update the UI to make this option clearer for users.

  • I don't want to pay for visual voice mail.  How can I set my phone up for basic?

The only thing that shows up is Visual Voice Mail, which will cost per message.  That's nonsense.

Remove the visual voicemail ability in apps and programs/features in My Verizon.  You can also dial *86 or longpress your #1 on the dialer.

  • Need a forum for Visual Voice Mail (VVM)

This Community forum thing is great. We can post our thoughts and get to know what others are thinking. I wonder why there is no forum on "Visual Voice Mail (VVM)". I can see forums on My Verizon or Messaging under Wireless. Why not for Visual Voice Mail?  On Android Market or Crackberry, I can see hundreds and thousands of feedback on Visual Voicemail. Why not give us a chance to talk about  VVM here? It'd help Verizon Wireless a lot. We can also get many of our questions answered. It'll be a great self-support forum benefitting both customers like me as well as Verizon.
    Don't you think so?
    A heavy VVM user

At this time, we're keeping discussion of the VVM in the Wireless Features - Other board until there's enough interest and discussion to warrant it's own forum.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.  We'll certainly be watching to see how much interest there is.
