Visual Voicemail Problems

Back when we were able to download the visual voicemail on our phones, I followed the steps it said, which including restoring my phone. I did that but I had the problem where people would leave me voicemails and it would not show up. The only way I would know if their was voicemails was by holding down 1 and checking it that way. I hadnt resolved the issue. And now last night I had downloaded the new iso4 software and it is all installed correctly I thot, but when I try access my visual voicemail it says "voicemail unavailable - could not authorize access". If I got into my settings and change voicemail password it does the same thing. Why am I getting this message? I am confuzed. Please help.

If your not getting your Visual VM just delete all of your old voicemails, then clear the deleted list and all of your voicemails will pop up in Visual VM again.
I still have no idea how Apple & AT&T dont QA test all of the new software updates and would believe its due to Apples insistence to launch new software on an archais system

  • Visual Voicemail problem on 02-UK, anyone else??

I'm having a problem with my iPhone 3GS atm.
Its to do with Visual Voicemail, basicly when some one leaves a message the phone doesn't inform me of it like it used to do a few weeks ago.
If i turn the phone off with the red slider and power back up it detects them instantly and they are there to view as normal.
I have phoned O2 and they have told me to turn VM off then on again with the 1760 and 1750 numbers, that didn't solve it. They have told me to reset my network settings this didn't fix it either. As of now they don't know what else to try as it is working its just the phone isn't retrieving them while its on.
Updated to 3.0.1 the other day could be this but cant see how.
The US network has a problem it seems with this atm.
I can hold down the "1" and check for messages manually but its not ideal.
All i can do now is take it to an Apple or O2 shop to see if the phone is broke somehow but i don't think its this its a network thing i am sure.
I never lose the 3G signal so its not that and roaming is 'off' which is what O2 told me to set it at. (i have tried it with it on as well)
I can make calls etc fine, i can use the net just fine. I have turned wireless mode off and tried it while connected to my wireless network.
Can anyone else test theirs and report back by just ringing their own phone plz???

I seem to have found a solution that works for me:
The problem seems to be occuring only after I delete unheard visual voicemails... I, then, don't seem to be able to receive new voicemails until I turn my iPhone off and back on (or do a hard reset).
However this problem doesn't occur if I listen to my messages before deleting them...
So bottomline: listen to your messages entirely and before you delete them...
Calling my usual voicemail number (not using visual voicemail) to listen to messages that haven't gotten to my visual voicemail seem to reset everything and enables me to receive new visual voicemails...

  • Iphone 5 and 5s visual voicemail and call forwarding problems in UK

    Hi
I am in the UK on a monthly pay 4G package with O2 with my iphone 5S.
Every two or three days, visual voicemail switches off saying there is an error with visual voicemail. When this happens, voicemails are left for me, but the caller does not hear my personalised OGM and I have to call in to listen to voicemails - and I get no notification of new voicemails. If I power down my iphone and switch it back on, visual voicemail is restored. But then a day or two later, it all happens again
Another thing I have noticed, is that when I switch my iphone back on after having powered it down, the call forward icon appears on the phone, even though I have not set call forwarding. To celar this I go into settings - phone - call forwarding. this shows that call forwardins is indeed off, and as soon as i reach that screen in settings, the call forwarding icon goes away - and so does my 4G connection. I then have 3G connection for a while and then magically 4G returns after several minutes.
Thsi is all comepletely repeatable - happens every time
Yesterday I noticed that exactly the same things are happening on my wife's iphone 5 - and she is on an EE package
We are both on IOS 7.1
    What is going on?

Immediately after going through the carry-on x-ray scanner at Newark airport, my 5S touch screen screen became unresponsive. I could not tap icons. I could not swipe pages. I could not turn off the phone because I could not swipe the confirmation message. I could use the fingerprint sensor to ask Siri to Google for help, and Safari did open with a list of Google search results. Surprisingly, I could use the touchscreen to scroll up and down the list of search results, but it would not respond to any taps, so I could not open any of the links. I finally did a hard reset and when the phone did come back on, all was well. This is the second time that this has happened immediately after x-ray, and these two times were the only times that this has happened, despite many trips.
Then there was something else unique about those two times that affected the device, either environmental or circumstantial.

  • My iPhone 5s has no visual voicemail or regular voicemail and data usage is off the charts....

Okay so problem number 1 with my new iPhone 5s is data usage has spiked tremendously. I don't know why this is as for the last 2 years I have had an iPhone 4 and barely ever used 1GB a month. Now with my 2GB allowance I reached 90% used midway through the month. I have turned off the LTE and now have turned off cellular data completely and am only using wifi. I don't understand why my data usage has been so high this month since I am using my phone the same way. Is it the LTE?
My second problem is my phone has no voicemail. It tells me visual voicemail is unavailable and to call my voicemail. Except when I call my voicemail it asks me for a password. I have had my phone number for over 5 years and never had a password and now I can't get into my voicemail. I tried resetting the Network settings, that did not work. I have left my self voicemails and no notification even shows up. I called *86 to create a voicemail and it asks for a password which I never made.
I am EXTREMELY angry with Verizon's service at this point. I can not use my data until next month, and now I can't even receive voicemail messages. If someone could please tell me what is going on I would be appreciative.

To answer your first question, the answer is yes, it is the LTE. Your iPhone 4 could only connect to 3G and so therefore unable to transfer data as quickly as 4G on the 5s. So then you end up using more data than you have before.
And your second question. I am not sure as to why it's asking for a password if it never was before. You can reset your voicemail password if you log into your MyVerizon account. Hope that helps

  • Visual Voicemail Issue

I have been having a problem for at least almost 2 months with setting a new visual voicemail greeting. Everytime I go to the greeting part it says retrieving and it has been stuck in that part for a month. The latest update I got didn't do anything. I have T-Mobile as a carrier and they told me this was an issue on your guy's? Some info or help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks

  • IPhone 4: No 3G, edge or visual voicemail

    Hi,
My iPhone 4 has no 3G, edge or visual voicemail. I can only get on the internet using my wifi.
    I've tried:
    resetting network settings
    latest ios updates
creating a backup, then deleting file '8218978e4ab0a48035bb92653145a6be872ea858' from the backup folder and restoring (as suggested in a macrumors forum)
The internet tethering is constantly searching and never stops which I believe may be decreasing battery life.
This is my second iPhone 4, my previous one had the same problem and was subsequently replaced by O2.
I can only presume it could be my sim, but is that likely?
I've read other people have had these issues, but not all simultaneously.
Am I alone here, is there a fix????
Thanks for any help in advance

Went to Apple Store for help with this problem. They tested with one of their SIM cards and there was no problem with the network. Therefore, I was told this is a problem for AT&T to resolve having to do with activation. Called AT&T. Turns out that when my phone was activated, they cut off my data plan entirely instead of continuing it. After some discussion with AT&T support, they gave me back my data plan. I re-booted the phone, and everything is fine. I am happy. Everything is working on my new phone. Hope I love it now.

  • IPhone 4: Visual Voicemail asks to be 'set up now' after each reboot

    Hello everyone,
    Here is my recurring problem:
Every time I turn my iPhone 4 off and back on, the visual voicemail asks to be set up again (when I've done it over 10 times now!). I tried resetting the network settings, taking out the SIM, and even called my phone company. They said that the issue is from Apple and has nothing to do with cell phone reception or what not... They said they have gotten a lot of calls with this issue?
I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem...?
How do I fix this so I don't need to reset my voicemail everytime I reboot?!?!
    Thank you in advance.

    The fix:
Okay, I spoke with Apple Customer Support, and this is the detailed fix for the constant visual voicemail re-set after rebooting the iPhone (4). A warning though, it's going to use up a lot of your time!
    1. Make sure that you've synched your iPhone, and have a computer back up (which includes all of your contacts, apps, email, photos, etc. - EVERYTHING.
    2. Reset your iPhone 4 back to the factory default (this erases EVERYTHING from your iPhone). This is the "Restore" option found on the "Summary" tab in iTunes when your iPhone 4 is selected.
    3. After step 2 is complete, when you are given the option to restore the iPhone either from a back-up, or start as a new iPhone, choose the new iPhone option (it's possible that your back-up has a "corruption" which lead to this problem).
    4. Re-synch, and re-add all of your apps, movies, books, and photos, etc. You will have to redo any folders that you may have made (pain!).
    5. You may have to update the phone's carrier settings (remember when you first got the phone?), by pressing a prompt on the phone if it tells you that a carrier update is available (download the update). The phone will also prompt you with the fact that it's now registered (with your carrier). This only takes a second (the shortest part of the whole process). Your visual voice mail should work. Your greeting may be set to "default", but if you choose "custom", your greeting should be there (push "play" to make sure). If not, then record a new one. My greeting was still there, and I didn't have to re-enter my password. All of my old messages were still there, too. Success!
    6. You'll have to re-enter your wi-fi password in order to re-enable wi-fi.
    7. You're done. It works. I've tested it, by restarting (re-booting) the iPhone 4 several times.
    8. Go to bed, because it's late!
    You're welcome!
    -Mark.

  • IPHONE 4 VISUAL VOICEMAIL

I have no problem with Verizon, but I really dislike the fact that they charge for visual voicemail. Is there anyway in knowing if VISUAL VOICEMAIL will be free for iPhone 4 users...I know its just 3 dollars but still every other carrier doesn't charge for this.

Although iPhone plan pricing has not been released, there is no reason to believe that it wouldn't be available for an additional charge.

  • Visual Voicemail not working on iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.2

Before I get into the specifics, I want to say YES, I already called AT&T about this. Their Tier 2 support guy couldn't resolve it so it's been elevated to a support ticket and I'm waiting for a reply. I'd just like to know if there's anything I can try on my end, or if there's any telltale sign of a defective unit.
    The phone: iPhone 4, 8GB, AT&T. 2 years old, off-contract. Unlocked. iOS 7.0.2
We just got back from a European trip and the visual voicemail on my wife's iPhone 4 is not working. Before we left, I unlocked it via iTunes and updated to iOS 7. I didn't want to upate the OS but iTunes was not giving me a choice, despite trying the various options to keep it on iOS 6 (believe me, I tried). Anyway, in Sweden I bought prepay SIM cards for our phones and used those on the whole trip, swapping the ATT sims back in once we got home. We both had issues with our voicemail after that, with repeated prompts for our password and having to go to AT&T to reset it and all that bizness. My 4S is working fine now, her 4 is not.
She knew she had at least 3 voicemails while we were gone but they were not showing up. Last night I checked for a carrier update, then set the iPhone to update to 7.0.2 while we slept; woke up to find the update had FAILED and the iPhone seemed bricked. After updating iTunes and repairing permissions, finally got the phone back up and updated, with a long restore from backup with apps and music. Still no new voicemails. I 'Reset Network Settings' to no avail, after working through all the steps in the Apple Knowledgebase article. So I called AT&T. The first tech did several things (on/off. more Network Settings resets) and the old voicemails did show up -- but no NEW ones would pop up when she made test calls. The tier 2 guy did some resets on their end, still no joy on showing new voicemails. As a last-ditch effort, he reset the entire voicemail account for that phone. Now visual voicemail is completely GONE. Pressing the button just calls voicemail and prompts you for the password. New voicemails are in the system, but there's no prompt on the phone that you even have one, you have to call.
SO... anyone else have this issue? The AT&T guy seemed to be at the end of his rope and had nothing left to try on his end. He thought it was a hardware issue, though everything was working fine before I a) upgraded to 7 and b) swapped SIM cards. Is there ANYTHING ELSE I can try on my end to see if its an issue with the iPhone versus an AT&T problem?
    TIA,
    JVK

Generally, when going out of the country and using a foreign SIM, carrier files can be changed. Go to Settings>General>About>and look at Carrier? What does it say? You may have to perform a restore. You can try a restore from a backup, that would reinstall the iOS, and would provide the latest AT&T carrier file as well. See if this will fix the problem.

  • IPhone 4 upgrade to iOS 4.2 breaks visual voicemail

I just updated my iPhne 4 to iOS 4.2 and my visual voicemail no longer works. When I go to voicemail it just dials in like on a regular cell phone.
    Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone figure out how to fix it?

I tried Restart and Reset - did not fix the problem.
Next, I let it dial my voicemail and entered a wrong password (because I forgot it), then the correct one. That got me into the AT&T voicemail.
Then, I tried the Visual Voicemail button. I got a message that my password was wrong and got a login window. I entered the correct password and all seems OK now. Visual Voicemail works like it used to.
(However, I did lose all but the most recent saved voicemails. No big loss in my case, but I can see how that might upset some.)
    Whew!!!
    I was a little worried.
    Regards,
    -Peter

  • Iphone 3gs Upgrade to 4.2.1 deletes visual voicemail

I unfortunately have just upgraded my iphone 3GS to 4.2.1 and found that my visual voice mail is no longer a feature. When I go to the phone menu screen, the favorites, recents, contacts and keypad still work. When I touch the voicemail icon, it immediately calls my voicemail each time. It does not go to the visual voicemail screen, but instead shows the keypad and is calling my voicemail number. It won't even let me see my saved visual voicemails. This is a pretty big weekend to be out of touch. Is anyone else having this problem? Thank you for any feedback.

I upgraded my 3G to 4.2.1 last night and tried to set individual alert tones for SMS. Well, as everyone here probably knows, that was false advertising by Apple.
I saw the thread here, though, about visual voicemail and checked mine. Sure enough, no go. When I clicked the bottom-right icon for voicemail, it just dialed. I didn't need a PIN, though, it hooked me straight up. I hung up and called voicemail a couple of more times, switched to the contact list and back to voicemail and eventually I got the on-screen prompt for the PIN. I filled that in (and it was maybe a bit lucky I remembered it) and all was well again ... with the voicemail. Saved messages were present.

  • Version 6.0 Bundle 2426 does not work with Sprint Visual VoiceMail

I updated to the latest Sprint Bundle a few days ago and after the update Visual VoiceMail has become quite problematic to keep working. I regularly have to reboot my BB to play messages. The only temporary solution is to call my VM system, but the Visual VM system stinks compared to the old Sprint VoiceMail system, as messages are not kept longer than a week, and a third of the features are gone. I have looked and even called both Sprint and BB tech support and both are clueless. Sprint sent me updates to my phone via the network, asked me to remove the battery, ran the update profile and update PRL options in the mobile options screen, etc.. My next step is to take it into the Sprint repair center and have them downgrade the OS or do whatever they need to do. The previous Sprint build worked just fine with Visual VoiceMail so not sure what the problem is. Is anyone else experiencing this bug and how did you fix it? I am more limited as I am on a Mac. I wish I would have kept the latest build, as I unfortunately deleted it to save space (last time I will ever do that).
    John

Okay. For everyone who upgraded, download RIM's Version 6.0 build 1609 to your desktop computer. Open it and install it to your PC Go into Blackberry Desktop and it will recognize there is a new OS on your PC for your handset. Back up ALL of your contacts, messages, or pictures you have before doing this. Now, install the OLD bundle 1609 back onto the handset. This could take up to 10 minutes. After that, go to your 'Manage Connections" screen, hit "Mobile Network", then hit your BB button and select "Update Profile" then "Update PRL". This will re-provision your handset with the network. Call your VM system through the VVM app on the handset and it will re-connect it. The issue with taking it to a sprint store or doing a "Data Wipe" is that it DOESN'T remove the new build, it only wipes everything, but KEEPS the new build. You have to MANUALLY un-install it and downgrade to get the old command sub-structure back for VVM. Hope this helps, done it 22 times with other phones already.

  • IPhone visual voicemail not working

I never figured out this problem until today:
•My visual voicemail appears to be functioning, nothing denotes otherwise.
•I was wondering why no one left me voicemail after they called, so I decided why not check it manually.
•I help down 1, and lo and behold I had at least 30 messages over the past month.
•Occasionally a message comes thru to my visual vm, but apparently not all.
So basically how do I get this working? It doesn't even alert me when I have a voicemail.
I'm on At&T, running 3.0.1 (could old firmware be the problem?, I have reasons for keeping it at 3.0.1, and no it's not jailbroken.)

    First update your firmware.
You can call AT&T to make sure your account is set up properly for visual voicemail.
You can try basics from the manual (among which are restart, reset, restore):

  • Visual Voicemail prroblem

    Hello,
I have a Z10 on Bell.  I have Visual Voicemail which seems to work most of the time.
I've noticed a few times that the VV app will not download messages from the mailbox.  I get an error saying "You have new Visual Voice Mail messages that can't be downloaded.  To listen to your messages, call your voice mail."
Upon dialing in to listen to the message, I noticed that the VV app didn't delete a few previous messages from the mailbox.  I had deleted them in the app, but they remained saved and accessible via dialing in.
I called Bell and the rep asked me to call the phone from a landline and leave a message to see if I could replicate the problem.  As I didn't have access to a landline phone at the time I was unable to do it.  I asked her why I had to do this as I know the problem exists.  She claimed that it was the first step in troubleshooting.  We hit a stalemate and talks broke down at that point.
I've done the usual battery pull but I still can't figure out why the phone will download some messages but not others.
    Anyone else run into this?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

15 hours after a voicemail was left, the phone dropped and then re-connected to the wireless network.  Somehow it picked up the voicemail and displayed it in the hub and VVM app.
