Vitrual Print Server to Print Standard Support

Can a Vitrual Print Server be used for Print Standard Support or Advanced Support.
Are there different Print Server Script that I should use other then:
/xmlpserver/convert
Any information would be great. Thanks

Inplace upgrades (As Christopher said) are a bad idea, they bring along with them all the old patches and other cruft that you want to avoid since the old system has been maintained.  Upgrading the server should bring along all the old settings, so
yes this should work as you hope. The one bad thing if you were to rebuild you would have to re-add all the print shares.
This really isn't an AD question and would suggest in the future you post in the General Windows Server forum.

  • Server 2012 RS Standard Planning

    It's been a while since I've planned a new server strategy.  There are so many options and looking for some guidance on best practices.  (no Laughing please) Currently we have 1win2000 Global catalog, active directory server, 1 Server 2003
    file/ accounting host server and 1 server 2008 r2 hyper-v enabled running 2 vms for remote offsite users.  We have about 34 users over 30 client desktops (win7-win8)  All server systems are running solid, but would like to
    start consolidating.
    Moving forward, I'm not interested in trying to figure out how to get active directory from my win200 server, over to a new server 2012.  I'm ok with starting from scratch.
    Required Roles:
    File server
    SQL Server for SAGE Accpac database (about 20gb accounting databse)
    3-6 Remote offsite users (RDS? or Hyper-v?)
    What I'd like to buy is 1 physical Lenovo server with 2 Xeon 6core CPU's, 24gb ram, 2tb storage.
    Is it wrong for me to want the above mentioned roles to run on 1 server?
    Should I do it on 1 server with server vms in hyper v?
    If I could, I'd install server 2012R2 Standard as a New Domain global cat/active directory server.
    I'd then install file server role and SQL server for the accounting DBs.  My thoughts for the 3-6  offsite remote users would be to run virtualized win7 machines.  Does this setup sound feasible in the way I've outlined it?  I usually
    read people objecting to having all these roles on 1 server instance, but we are pretty small (less than 40 users) and feel 1 server could easily handle this load.

    Hi
     Further clarify:-)
    If you plan to buy 1 physcial server you can create this topology;
    - Install Server 2012 r2 Standard on your physcial envorenment
    - Also install hyper-v role (Windows Server 2012 r2 standard Support vm with licenced)
    - Install first vm and configure as an DC.
    - Install second Vm and install SQL server on this.
    As you say you have 3 Physcial server thats great...
    - Install Windows Server 2012 r2 on each 3 physcial server
    - Also install Hyper-v role on this 3 server 2012 r2 standard (also you can create totally 6 Vm wth licence on server 2012 standard with hyper-v)
    - Install PDC on a vm,then install another vm and add as an Additional DOmain Controller (for Redundacy AD DS,DNS)
    - Install 2 vm server and configure a SQL cluster
    - install file server another vm
    - install RDS server on another vm
    Is this appropriate?

  • I need to create pdf to certain printer standards - how do I do it?

    I am creating an advert and never before have I been asked to do the following:
    (They have attached the relevant files in the email for me but I have no idea how to do it. A step by step guide for dummies would be greatly appreciated. I am working on Windows)
    Hereby the profiles (in zip files) which are needed to maken a certified pdf to our printer standards
    -------------------------------------------------------------------->
    Change the profile for images in Photoshop:
    ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc
    Place in the Library: Application Support  -  Adobe  -  Color  -  Profiles -
    -------------------------------------------------------------------->
    Make a pdf in InDesign:
    WebCmykHiRes_1v4_IND4.joboptions
    Place in the Library: Application Support  -  Adobe  -  Adobe PDF  -  Settings  -
    This profile is already fully confirm to our printer standards. (you don't have to change anything)
    Choose this profile for PDF (Export) this preset WebCmykHiRes_1v4_IND4.
    If it does not apear in inDesign, import Document, Presets Adobe PDF
    -------------------------------------------------------------------->
    Check the pdf in Pitstop:
    WebCmykHiRes_1v4.ppp
    Browse the profile in Enfocus Pitstop when you want to certifie your pdf.
    Mistakes will show and explaned in a status report.
    EDIT: It seems like they have given me steps to follow, like place in library, etc. but even this I don't know where to find. Could this be a mac/windows difference? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, the instructions seem a little vague. For example, where it says "change the profile" I think it means to choose Edit > Convert to Profile. But you should verify that because there are other possible interpretations of "change the profile."

    Yes, you have been given Mac instructions. The [username]/Library/Application Support path does not exist in Windows. In general, where it says to look in [username]/Library/Application Support, in Windows you should instead look in [username]/AppData/Roaming/ . You might find the following document useful as a guide, because it compares Mac and Windows folder paths for the same files: Preference filenames and locations in Photoshop CS6

  • Printer Driver Support for Computers Running Windows 8 Release Preview

    Printer driver support for computers running Windows 8 Release Preview
    HP is working to help customers have the best experience with HP printers connected to PCs running the final release of Windows 8. The pre-release time is a development period when HP develops and tests printer driver solutions. HP’s current plan is for Windows 8 compatible printers to be available when the new operating system is released to the public. HP is working with Microsoft to include drivers in the Windows 8 operating system for HP printers introduced in recent years.
    There may be a variety of sources for a printer driver/solution for your HP printer on a computer running Windows 8 Release Preview.
    inOS:
    An in-Operating System (inOS) driver is a basic driver that is included within the operating system. You do not need to download or install any software from HP. Windows 8 Relase Preview contains several inOS drivers. If an inOS driver is available for your printer, you will have at least basic print capability with USB and Network and basic scan capability with USB only (if your printer supports scanning).
    Windows Update:
    There might be a more functional or more up-to-date driver available for your printer through Microsoft Windows Update. If Windows Update is enabled, then the Windows Update process activates automatically when you connect (USB and Network connections) the printer to the computer. It searches online for the most recent print driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more functional than the currently installed driver in Windows 8, the computer downloads and installs this driver.
    HP Supplied Printer Driver/Solutions:
    Although HP does not formally support any pre-release versions of Windows Operating Systems, including Windows 8 Release Preview, we may supply some full functionality drivers* prior to the official release of Windows 8. These drivers may be supplied as a courtesy to our valued HP customers through this Support Forum, though no formal support will be available otherwise. We welcome feedback within these support forums. Please check back for further updates as the official release of Windows 8 approaches.
    * Full feature drivers provide full product functionality, plus valuable software to help you get the most out of your printer.

  • Printing Standard TEXT  with multiple paragraphs in smartform

    Hello all,
    I have a requirement that, there is a very long standard text stored in a notification of an order in SAP ISU system. The text contains multiple paragraphs with indentations. I want to print this text directly into the smartform WITH SAME INDENTATION AND PARAGRAPH FORMATTING.
    First i am reading the entire text using FM READ_TEXT.
    My first  problem is even if i read the text into a variable of type STRING , it just prints 255 characters of it.
    And secondly if i try to printout it using LOOP AT node in smartforms, it prints the entire content but without any formatting .
    Please let me know whether it is possible to print standard text in smartforms or not
    Thanks
    Nilesh Puranik

    Hey ,
    Well thanks for that but my replies got posted 2-3 times unknowingly, could'nt help it.
    Coming to the problem, i  guess you did not get my point when i say dynamic texts for each service order.
    In my Report i am using LOOP AT ITAB ..where in itab i  am storing a service order no i.e. ITAB-ORDER_NO
    Now for every order there is standard text maintained in SO10 starting with order name
    so my code goes like this.
    LOOP AT ITAB.
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_TEXT'
      EXPORTING
        ID                            = 'LTXT'
        LANGUAGE            = 'E'
        NAME                      = ITAB-order_no
        OBJECT                   = 'QMSM'
      TABLES
        LINES                         = LINES .
    CALL <SMART FORM Fm>
    ENDLOOP.
    Hence whatever Standard text maintained for that service order i  want to display it as it is in the smartform with same paragraphs formatting and indentation.
    IF i use a variable in smartform and pass the entire text  after using READ_TEXT , it does not format the text  and it just prints only 255 characters even if i define it of type STRING .
    Hence i am stuck in this scenario.
    Appreciate ur help though.
    Thanks
    Nilesh

    How do I get my Mac, G5, 10.5.8, to print?  Printer tech support thinks it is a computer problem.  Any ideas?

    Hi Dwayne,
    If necessary (unless your operating system already contains the printer software needed), a downloadable driver for a Deskjet 5420v Photo Printer (is this the exact model?) and Mac OS 10.5 appears to exist according to the support web page below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1105187&lc=en&cc=us& dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
    To begin with, have you verified that the printer is able to print at all (that the print cartridges are OK, et cetera)? This can usually be done by trying to print a test page (from the computer) via an HP printer utility, or possibly by generating a self-test page (without a connected computer) using an appropriate button combination on the printer itself.

  • TIF vs EPS: Commercial printing standard

    I just started reviewing the Learning Photoshop CS4 Videos on Adobe TV, Specifically: 11 Saving and file formats. The person says something which surprised me when referring to file formats to save to... he referred to TIF format as the Commercial Print Standard.
    I was told by printers in the past that EPS was the Commercial Print Standard because it is the language that Commercial printing devices speak. Has this changed? Or does this only refer to Commercial devices such as office color printers & laserjet printers as opposed to web, sheet feed printing presses?

    >Maximum quality jpeg compression on EPS is still one of the most efficient ways to achieve much smaller file sizes, with no PRACTICAL loss in image quality. It doesn't seem possible to achieve the same thing in either jpeg native or compressed TIFF.
    You have settings off if the JPG compression in an EPS file is better than the JPG compression in a JPG file. EPS (like PDF) is simply a container format. Your JPG compressed EPS files are simply
    containing JPG files. Imagine losing a whopping 2-10kb if you broke that JPG free from the excess EPS wrapper! Your JPG files should be smaller.

  • Cisco NAC 4.8.3 supports Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard?

    I´m looking at this document: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/nac/appliance/configuration_guide/48/cas/s_adsso.html#wp1301231 and I´m not clear if Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1 is supported.  The documentation refers to Windows 2008 Server SP2 and Windows 2008 Server R2, but I see no specific mention to Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1.

    Hi,
     Do you remember making any changes to the computer prior to this issue? Please unplug
    all external devices connected to the system and try booting in Normal mode.
    Can you into safe mode, you may try startup repair using the Windows 7 installation DVD and check if it works.

    Hello,
    The following are a few things you can try:
    Copy the media to the local disk drive, unzip it (in case you are installing from an ISO file, and run SQL Server setup from there.
    Try to unregister and register the Windows Installer with the following two commands:
    msiexec /unregister
    msiexec /regserver
    Try to use Process Monitor to log the detailed error produced when the installation of dw20sharedamd64.msi fails. You can download Process Monitor from the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
    Share with us the error captured by Process Monitor.
    Hope this helps.
