Vivado hardware server "hw_server" process doesn't close when server is closed

Vivado hardware server "hw_server" process doesn't close when server is closed.
Also, the connecting to the server hangs if a device is physically disconnected and reconnected (usually).
The "hw_server" process continually has to be killed via Task Manager, Vivado has to be closed and reopened sometimes as well.
Using Vivado 2014.1
Please fix this.

I'm on 2014.1 as well (Win7-64).  I have a similar problem with 2 different PCs running the same setup.  The Hardware Manager hangs while attempting some activity (usually reconfig).  I click "Cancel" to dismiss the activity, which causes all of Vivado to hang.  Seeing no other option, I kill Vivado in the Task Manager.  However, this has the unfortunate side effect of leaving an orphaned hw_server process that can't be killed by any means, thus requiring a reboot of the PC.
This is monumentally annoying.
Can someone comment on whether this is due to a known issue, and if it's fixed in 2014.2?

  • Apple Mail App Doesn't Close When Quit Button Is Pressed

My apple mail application on my iMac Running Mountain Lion is responding extremely slow and doesn't close when I press the quit button.
I have to use force quit to close the mail application.
Also the mail appliation stops spontanuously and a crash report is generated which I send to apple.
Problem exist now for about 3 weeks.
I have 4 email boxes (icloud using imap; and 3 pop3)
Rebuilding my mailboxes didn't solve the problem
    Hope someone has a sollution.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Mail.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

npviewer.bin (on linux) eats lots of CPU and doesn't even close when firefox is closed.

I've begun having this problem as well. Reviewing the above, I seen no errors that I' making. A few weeks ago, without being aware of an update to Firefox, it began behaving differently than it has for years. I've always had it set to open to an empty tab, now it often opens to the 'Firefox Home Page' (which I've never used)... this despite resetting my opening page to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" (upon troubleshooting the 'home page issue' I found that the opening page had reset to FF Home somehow. I store a lot of pages in tab groups and having them disappear is a major bummer since they're news articles I'm waiting to copy.
Also... I run CCleaner weekly and I know that will erase the group tabs I've stored so before running it I have to store those URL's another way. Does anyone know what I can uncheck in CCleaner to keep those tabs?
    Thanks.

  • PSE10 Process doesn't unload when exiting

    This is a recent problem:
I'm running PSE-10 under Win-XP. When I finish using PSE, I exit as usual.
Then, If I click on the desk-top Icon to launch PSE-10, again, it won't load.
Using Windows Task Manager, I see that the Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe process has not unloaded, from the prior Exit (taking 00% CPU and ~70,340K Mem Usage). Also remaining resident is PhotoshopElementsFileAgent.exe (taking 00% CPU and 1,196K Mem Usage).
If I End Process: Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe, via Task Manager, then I can launch PSE-10 from the Desktop Icon, again. [even if PhotoshopElementsFileAgent.exe remained open].
Why don't these 2 Processes close, when I exit PSE-10 ? HOW CAN I FIX THIS?
[Note: I have OnOne Software's Perfect Suite 6.1 installed.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing PSE-10 alone and with Perfect Suite 6.1. No difference.]
Also, I tried the recent PSE-10 Update for Camera Raw, and was advised that the update did not complete successfully. HOW CAN I FIX THIS?
    Thanx -

I my case, this is an issue with an NVIDIA motherboard chipset with embedded GeForce 9400 GPU.  I had the same problem when evaluating the 30-day trial version of Soundbooth CS5 in Win7x64.  Premiere Elements 8.0 also has this problem.  I tried the Premiere Elements solution from the Adobe Forum for Soundbooth, and it works for my PC.
The solution is to turn Off threaded optimization using the NVIDIA Control Panel ...
Right-click the desktop > NVIDIA Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings tab
    1. Select a program to customize: Soundbooth isn't in the drop-down list > Add
        ... Win7x64 ... browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Soundbooth CS5\Adobe Soundbooth CS5.exe
        ... Win7x32 ... browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Soundbooth CS5\Adobe Soundbooth CS5.exe
        Open
    2. Specify the settings for this program:
Threaded optimization Off ... was Use global setting (Auto)
    Apply
You wouldn't think NVIDIA 3D settings would have anything to do with the operation of Soundbooth, but this solves the problem on my PC.

  • Firefox doesn't close when I'm trying to close it and links fail to complete.

I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron. When I first log into Firefox, it will come up (slowly), but if I try to go to a linked site, it seems to balk, and looks like it is partially connecting, but the connection doesn't actually take. If I go to the address I'm trying to reach, highlight it and double click, it may or may not fully connect. Then, if I am trying to get out of Firefox, it appears as though I'm leaving normally, but later, when I try to get back on, it tells me that there is already a connection with Firefox running and that I will have to close that before I can open another - but that takes a trip to Windows Task Manager. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has been going on for - a guess - about 6 months. To say it's frustrating is an understatement at this point. I'm not very savvy re: techtalk, so I need help to be as simple and direct as possible. I can follow directions very well if I can understand them. Jeanne

This sounds like a connection problem. Perhaps there's dirt, lint or fuzz in the connection port or the cable wire is failing.
Check and carefully clean the connection ports if necessary.
Try a different Apple or name brand cable.

  • Firefox doesn't close when Windows shuts down

When Windows (in my case: Win XP SP3) shuts down, it sends a message ("QUERY_UNLOAD" in many programming languages) so that the active programs can finish their jobs (e.g. ask about unsaved data) and then exit. It seems you developers have reached v25 of Firefox and not thought of programming this small bit -> Windows shut down - an open Firefox doesn't give a fuck about exiting, you have to cancel it via Windows.
It would be nice to have this little effort of programming done - at last - thank you.

What an answer: The user asked to circumvent the shortcomings of a program.
Firefox should be able to do what 99% of all programs actually do, i.e. close gracefully when Windows shuts down. This is the industry standard.
And: I guess it's not more than a 2- to 5-lines code. So, don't try to evade it, lazy.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 will not install when Server 2012 non-R2 installs fine.

Our company has several Windows Server 2012 servers that installed and work without issues. However, we purchased several Server 2012 R2 licenses to install on the exact same hardware, and at the very beginning of the install process it does not recognize
any of the hard drives, and cannot continue with the install. I have put the drivers that the non-R2 servers use on a flash drive, and tried to use those drivers during the R2 installs, but none work. This is extremely frustrating, and I want to know what
my options are? Is it a signed driver issue? Can I disable signed driver checks before installing R2? Thanks for any help.
P.S. I will even consider downgrading the Server 2012 R2 licenses to standard 2012 if that is even possible? I don't think I can get a refund on the media.

Contact your server vendor to see if they support 2012 R2 on the platform you are working with.  They are the ones who determine what firmware/drivers get released for what versions of the operating system.
"R2 2012 and using them for R2 does not work as it just rejects them or says no new device drivers were found."
Are you trying to load them during the installation process when it gives you the option to load drivers?  I've never seen a 'no new device drivers were found' message at that point because you are specifically telling it which driver to use.
Yes, the license for a retail copy of the operating system contains downgrade rights.  However, activation keys are different.  You may have to contact Microsoft or the vendor from whom you purchased your copy to obtain a 2012 activation key.

  • Session doesn't end when browser is closed, still logged in

    Hi!
I have a Restrict Access To Page and a Log Out User server behavior that works fine. If I'm not logged in I redirects to a Log In page and then gets to the restricted page. If I click The Log Out link I have to Log In again, as supposed.
But if I don't click the Log Out link and just close the Browser completely there are no problem to get back to the restricted page when I reopen a new browser window and enter the URL. Not even from another PC! Seemes to me that the session doesn'n end at browser close but dont know really?
I have used this server behaviors many times without this problem but on another server and it has allways worked fine. I even made new pages with the behaviors on the other server and it works fine this time to.
    Goin' bananas soon!

Thanks The_FedEx_Guy for trying to help but that is not the case I'm afraid, don't think there wouldn't be any differese if I click the Log Out link or if I just shut down the browser then. And if I close the browser without log out first I never get to the Log In page at all but straight to the restricted page. Anyway I deleted all password info and pretty much everything from IE cash but didn't help.
Very Weird, I log in to the restricted page from PC and log out with the Log Out link then I have to log in again to se the restricted page, fine.
I don't log in, instead I try to open restricted page in my laptop, I only got to the Log In page.
If I log in from any of the two I'm also logged in from the other one. The restricted page is wide open what I can understand! And still is if I shut down the browser without logging out first.
This only happens in IE on Win 7 and on server with this info http://lindogk.com/test2/php_info.php and in another folder on the same server with this http://lindogk.com/sponsor_tavl/php_info.php altered with htaccsess.
No problem on this server http://gelins.se/phpinfo.php at all.
No problems Wiyh Win XP at all.
No problems on Firefox at all.
Taking a pretty wild guess here but maybe there is something in the server configuration and hopefully I could set this right in my scripts with some set_ini or so and maybe someone out there know how to do it. Or maybe I'm allready crazy, hope not!

  • FF4 Panorama is cool, but it doesn't save when FF is closed?

I tried the new FF4 Panorama feature, it's cool. But doesn't it save my work? When I close FF and reopen it, all named tab groups are gone...:-(
And... the troubleshooting information doesn't fit in to the box below. Max chars: 30,000. Not enough for my Ubuntu (37,000).

App Tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored in sessionstore.js as part of the session data, so make sure that session restore is enabled and working properly.

  • Plugin Won't CLOSE when browser is closed

HELP!!!!! My machine is the only one that does this here. I have Win2000 professional, IE6 (had 5.5 did it on that too). I am using plugin 1.3.1.04. When I launch a page, even if is not one I developed, could be anything that uses it, it loads the applet and will never EVER close it until I do one of two things. Logout and log back in, or Kill Explore.exe, which hoses up your machine. It is causing a lot of problems in that when I try to use other applications that try and launch a different version of the applet, it crashes everything because I have this other version sitting there that won't go away.
I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled it, does the same thing. I reported it to SUN, they said they couldn't reproduce and dismissed it. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS??!?!? Its making developing hell.
    thanks.

I have a similar problem with one of my client's machines. He's running Windows 98 and when he closes the browser down the plug-in does not shut down (the cofee cup icon remains in the system tray).
When I look a bit closer at the process table on the PC the plug-in is still being "held" by the explore.exe process.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this??

  • Files Don't Close when Project is Closed

    Hi,
When I close an open project in the IDE, not all the files get closed. Some of them remain open in the JSC IDE, even though the project has been closed.
Would appreciate if the JSC team can acknowledge and fix the issue.
    Regards
    Haroon

    Hi HaroonA,
In order to file a bug, I need a reproducible case. Is this consistently happening to you? How many projects are you working with when this happens? What files don't close (JSP/Java/Navigation.xml/etc.,)? If you can give me a scenario where this fails, I'll escalate the issue.
    Thanks!
