Vixia HF R500 camcorder burning movies to a DVD

I have copied movies from the memory card to my computer and burned the movies to a DVD from the computer but my DVD player can't read the disc. The movies are still on the memory card and I don't want to erase them until I have a hard copy in my hands that we can watch. These movies are of the first few days of our first grandchilds life. The memory card is a 32 GB SanDisc Ultra Plus. The movies are recorded in the AVCHD video format. The disc plays in my computer but not in my Memorex player or our Wii player that we can watch on our TV. Help - I am only somewhat computer literate and zero camcorder literate.

Hi Bo21!
It is likely that the format or configuration you used when you created the disc is not supported by your player.  You may want to contact Memorex and the software vendor to make sure you have each configured so the disc you create with the software is supported by the player.

  • Burning mov file to DVD

I am trying to burn my mov file to DVD. It keeps telling me that there is not enough space on the DVD even though the DVD states that it has 1 hour for HQ, 2 hours for SP, 4 hours for LP. The sequence is about 90 minutes.

You will need to set encoding to VBR and the lower the bitrate until your content can fit onto an SL DVD or opt for a DL DVD. Where are you encoding? DVDSP or Compressor?

  • Burning movies (.avi) to dvd

well what i need to do is burn a .avi movie onto a dvd so that i can watch it on my dvd player in my livingroom. i asume i need a conversion program to convert the .avi to some format of which i dunno. then what do i need to burn the movie onto a viewable dvd?

    Is this a divx .avi?
If so, do you have the divx codec installed?
    http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
You might also check out divx doctor, which will "fix" or convert the file to a .mov which can be easily used in idvd.

  • Burning movies to a dvd

i cant get my downloaded movie,in iTunes, to burn to a dvd-r. I changed my preferences- advanced- burning to data or dvd, but it keeps telling me i need to insert a blank disc. The disc is blank and so i re-insert it and it "checks media" and then quits. I can't figure it out at all. I'd like to watch my movie on my tv, but things aren't looking so good

iTunes doesn't support what you are trying to do. First problem is that it won't let you. The other is that video files are not in a format compatible with playing in a DVD player anyway. If you get a docking station to plug into TV you could play the video on TV that way.

  • Burning movie to a dvd?

I just burned my quicktime move to a dvd, now how can I burn the same movie so it can play on a dvd player on my tv? Do I have to convert it?

    Not sure what you're asking
Are you saying the DVD you burned doesn't play on your TV? If not, how did you encode/burn it, using what software?
To create a standard DVD than can be played on set top players, first export your movie using Quicktime Movie. Then you could use Roxio Toast or iDVD to make your DVD
Perhaps you created a data file with your Quicktime movie, not too sure. You have to encode it to MPEG2 first, using the above methods

  • Burning movies on to dvd cds....

i understand the late 2007 white macbook comes with dvd burner. I downloaded a couple of movies and was looking to burn them on a dvd cd to enjoy it on my tv. can someone tell me what kind of program i need to burn movies? thank you
and does dvd-r and dvd+r both work?
    thank you

Depends on the model you have. Each generation of MacBook has had a low end model that does not come with a DVD burner. It comes with a combo drive and the low end models are all white. There are two white models of each generation a low end one and a middle tier one. The late 2007 that has a DVD drive is the 2.2 GHz. The one with the Combo drive is 2 GHz.

  • Burning .mov file to dvd via IDVD

I created a slide show to music on IMovie. Playing the .mov file through my computer and even projected on a big screen it looks great.  But when converting it to a DVD via IDVD, the font on the couple of lines of text that I have coming up with the pictures is pixilated and really horrible.  I tried a couple of different burns and always choose best quality but the results remain the same.  The dvd created through IDVD is horrible with really badly pixilated edges on the fonts.  How can I burn DVD's so that they look as good as they do playing directly from my .mov file so that I can burn copies for others who have requested my music slide show?  I am working with a brand new MacBook Pro computer and the IMovie and IDVD programs that came with it, if that helps at all.

    Hi,
The info helps explain what's happening -- the 1080p version is widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) and physically large (1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels tall), and much more compressed than the DVCPRO50 version (the 1080p file is less than half the size even though it's more than twice the screen space).  So, iDVD would have a difficult time crushing that down into the standard DVD video dimensions.
The DVCPRO50 version is also widescreen, so you want to be sure your iDVD preference is set to 16:9 aspect ratio (if not, start a new project and re-import).
iDVD also has to crush this version to make it fit the standard 720x480 format, but not as much as the 1080p version.  Text can particularly suffer when video dimensions are altered.
Is your iMovie version gone or just won't open?
I'd be inclined to experiment with a copy of the DVCPRO50 version.  Try the free MPEG Streamclip to see if it can resize the video to 720x480 before bringing it into a 16:9 iDVD project.  Next try using Streamclip to convert the format to DV (DV Stream or .dv) to see if that format change makes iDVD happier.

  • How do I burn a master data dvd from HD movies uploaded from HD camcorder

I have HD movie clips in my project library.
Now, I would like to burn a master data dvd.
I find I have two options under share.
    1. export movie, creating a clip in i tunes at 960x540 ; 26.8 mb
    or
    2. export using Quicktime, creating a clip at 1920x1080 ; 553 mb
These movie clips are of my new born daughter and I would like to make a master copy that I can make dvd movies and edit any time I feel.
    Thanks.

Use Disk Utility. Drag the .img file to the left sidebar, select it and click the Burn button in the toolbar.
Or, you can click Burn in the toolbar, and then select a disk image from the dialog that appears.

  • I have problems with my films that become slightly jerky after I have imported and edited them in iMovie and then burned them onto a DVD using iDVD. I can see the weak jerkiness when panning in both laterally and vertically. I shoot with a camcorder Canon

I have problems with my films that become slightly jerky after I have imported
and edited them in iMovie and then burned them onto a DVD using iDVD.
I can see the weak jerkiness when panning in both laterally
    and vertically.
I shoot with a camcorder Canon Vixia HF10. The camera has been set to deliver HD quality (1920x1080). But I have accidentally filmed with a frame rate of 60 (?).
When I import the films in iMovie I have been asked if I want to change to frame rate 30 (instead of 25). I have chosen 30.
Could it be the setting of a frame rate 60 in my camcorder that causes jerkiness when panning or what else?

  • What software should I use for editing videos from a Vixia HF R500?

I have a VIxia HF R500. What editing software should I use. I am a beginner.

    Hi OM45GTR!
    Thanks for posting.
Depending on what platform you are editing on, you may consider programs like Windows Movie Maker or Apple's iMovie.

  • Canon Vixia HF R52 camcorder/blu ray recorder/direct connection?

I just bought a Canon Vixia HF R52 camcorder and would like to connect it directly to a blu ray/DVD recorder to burn discs without using a computer.  In the Manual, Canon says it is possible and even sent me an email stating "The camcorder is compatible with any blu ray disc recorder that supports AVCHD version 2.0"  Unfortunately, Best Buy Geek Squad is clueless and Canon ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to recommend/suggest what brand/model recorder I need.  (I had a Panasonic camcorder that finally died on me and Panasonic had its own DVD burner for it.)  Any help out there?  Anyone burning discs directly from your Canon camcorder?  THANKS!

First,  ensure that you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple.com
    on your  system.
Then ensure that, when you started your project, you  chose the settings
for a Full AVCHD 1920x1080 video project. You'll know if  you've selected the
right settings for your project because, when you add the  video to your
timeline, there will NOT be a red line above the clips until you  add effects
    or transitions to them.
Is that the case in your  situation?
Did you use Premiere Elements' Video Importer to get  the video from the
camcorder to your computer? You should. It's located under  Get Media/From
Flip, AVCHD and Hard Disk Cameras.
If, with  everything set up right, you're still having problems, it could
be that your  computer isn't powerful enough to work with AVCHD. Most people
successfully  editing AVCHD have quad-core or i7 processors.
How fast is your  processor and how much RAM do you have? Have you cleared
and defragmented your  hard drive  recently?

  • I just finished creating a movie in IMovie and now want to burn it to a DVD and make it loop.  Since I just purchased this IMac it no longer comes with IDVD.  My question is how to burn and loop a dvd without IDVD.  Thanks for any help.

I just finished creating a movie using IMovie and want to burn it to a DVD and loop it.  Since I just purchased this mac it looks like they no longer include IDVD.  Is there something out there to help me do this.  I am new to MAC and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates.
Burn, I have never tried, since I have iDVD and Toast for those ocasions when I need to burn a DVD. However, since it is free, I think it is worth a try.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can alsouse SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.

  • How can I burn more than 1 movie to a DVD when there is room on the disc for it. Premiere wants to overwrite once 1 movie is burned to the disc

How can I burn more than 1 movie onto a DVD? Once 1 movie is burned successfully to the disc, I try to burn another movie and Premiere wants to overwrite the first movie. One movie is 1.2 GB, second is 2.3; so there is room on a 4.7 GB DVD-RW.

What you report is what it is.
Each burn to of Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc results in the disc containing one OpenDVD Folder and one VIDEO_TS Folder.
Only one VIDEO_TS Folder can be put on a DVD-VIDEO disc even when Premiere Elements is not involved. I have seen that written about online, and I have
never found a way to overcome what seems to be basic behavior description of DVD-VIDEO..
Premiere Elements will allow you to write to a disc with content already on it, but only after you give the OK for erasing the disc content before going ahead
    with the burn to.
If you have several movies, one possibility is to build a Timeline with the movies, use stop markers, and setup disc menus according so that the viewer
can selectively watch the movies. More on that later if wanted.
Any questions or need clarification, please ask.
    Thank you.
