Vixia HF S30 and the iMac
Does the iMac support importing Videos from the Canon Vixia HF S30? I run OS 10.7.2. The iMac is a 2007 (intel) with no card slots. I planned to import the files via a supplied USB cable. So far, no luck.
HD 24
What's that mean? 24fps media? It's not supported in FCE. Have fun with iMovie.

Can time capsule back up an external hard drive attached to my imac and the iMac internal Harddrive
In addition to Kappy's comments, the external drive must be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in order for Time Machine to be able to back it up.

Is it possible to mirror the display on the Macbook pro which is two years old to my iMac which is four years old? Macbook pro is running OS X Lion 10.7.5 and the iMac is running OS X 10.6.8 (10K549). Neither of them have Thunderbolt ports.
OK, well I would go with what Apple says in writing but if you want to take a trip to visit the Genius Bar that won't hurt.
Good luck, I'm 99% certain you will find I was correct but please let us know.

new airport: can't get my macbook or my imac to join my wireless automatically, my other stuff still joins without problems but i have to join manually with the book and the imac ?? I've tried all the settings and every thing else I can think of.....
Running on Lion, never had a problem before until the old airport died and I replaced it.try connecting the device in _*recovery mode*_, then restore from your backup.
also, make sure [_*Apple Mobile Device Service*_|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567] is installed and started.

Between the Imac 2.7 I5 and the Imac 3.4 I7...
I'm in between the Imac 2.7 I5 and the Imac 3.4 I7. I know there's a $500 difference so I'm trying to see if I really need that much power. I do mostly audio stuff with Digital Performer and Native Instruments Komplete which streams instruments. I'm also going to boost the RAM to 16GB. I'm mainly worried about glitching. I want to make sure that when I run photoshop and Final Cut Express that I won't have a problem with the 2.7 i5. Will it be fast enough? $500 is a lot of money for power that I may or may not use and would rather spend it on software upgrades if I truely don't need the fastest Imac. What is your opinion?

Hello,
I use Photoshop CS6 on a 2009 MacBook Pro and it runs great. I have 8GB of RAM
I am going to be purchasing a 27" iMac soon, but i have heard there are a lot of problems with Photoshop and Mavericks working together.
I am a computer novice so i am wondering if i should wait to get the iMac or if with a new machine and a new version of Photoshop CS6 i will be able to use Photoshop CS6 on the new iMac without any issues.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks so much,
rickSee > http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/mac-os-mavericks-compatability.html
Photoshop CS6 is compatible with OS X Mavericks, but it is true that there are issues. See > https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5475799
As you can see, there are tricks that have worked for some users, so it is up to you to wait or to get the iMac now. Adobe may release Photoshop CS6 updates in the future to make it work better in Mavericks -
My iMac tried to recognize a newly purchased software program and failed to do so. Do I have to do anything else to download software.

If you downloaded it then presumably it downloaded as a compressed file, likely a .dmg file. If so double click it to mount the dmg as a folder on your desktop. Open the folder and you will see the files. Drag the folder to a location of your choice. e.g., Applications). Then you should be able to execute the application in that folder.
Just to confirm, when you said you "put the software in the iMac", what was the name of the "software" file you copied? -
I have 3 Macs. Air Drop appears on and functions on two of them - the MacBook Air and the Powerbook. But Air Drop does not appear at all on the iMac. It is not to be found in Finder nor through a search. Why might this be?
That's a kernel panic and indicates some sort of problem either with the computer's hardware or software. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. It would help to post the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic.
Meanwhile, try booting the computers into Safe Mode then restarting normally. If this is simply a disk repair or cache file problem then this may fix it.
You can also try creating a new admin account on each computer then booting into the new account. This would help determine if the problem is related to a bad file in the user accounts. -
I'm considering an additional second external hardrive. (A backup clone to my first external HD).
I've been reading a lot about a very quick connection called "eSATA" which some of the external HD manufacturers offer. (For example some offer a combo USB2/eSATA approach).
Can anyone let me know if the iMac G5 can connect to eSATA?
Is it possible? Is it a simple cable swap-out? etc etc
Thank you in advance.

iMac G5 20"/iSight Mac OS X (10.4.9)No Rich,
There is no eSata port on the iMac G5, and therefore no way of connecting it.
Firewire 400 remains by far the best means of connecting an external drive to your iMac G5. You'll find it is much faster than USB2 in "real world" usage, and it is also the only way that you can use an external hard drive as a "boot" disk with these computers.
By all means get a combined FW400/FW800/USB2/eSata enclosure, if you wish, but you won't get any additional speed benefit from the extra cost of doing so as the FW 400 will be the only one it is really worth using. (The only advantage is possible future compatibility when you upgrade your computer next time and greater interconnectivity options if you intend to connect the drive to other computers with the relevant ports).
Cheers

External drives and the iMAC Dual Core
I have a Maxtor III external drive. It is a Firewire 400/USB model. I installed it on the PC side of the iMAC with no problem. The PC recognized the drive and I backed up that side of the computer. When I tried to backup the MAC side, the drive wasn't recognized (the Maxter III icon is on MAC desktop). I have the Maxtor connected to the computer through the USB port. Has anyone had this experience? The Maxtor is formatted in NTFS--should I reformat in FAT32? If so, I tried that, but the program wouldn't let me reformat--there was only the NTFS format option.
Use the instructions in this document to create NTFS and Mac OS Extended partitions on the disk.
Windows XP will not give you the option to format a disk larger than 32GB as FAT32 with the built-in software, and you may run into problems if you try using a FAT32 disk to back up a Mac unless you use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to create a disk image in HFS+ format.

The new 21.5'' IMac with 3.06ghz Processor
4gig Ram
GeoForce 9400M Shared Graphics Card
Will this work with the new final cut studio?
Will I be able to edit HD well?...could I use the G5 as a 20" monitor???
Short answer: no.
Long answer: maybe depending on your skill level. [This post|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10730919] has a link to a tutorial in French where someone figured out how to convert a dead iMac for use as a "normal" monitor.
In your case, if the Mac is still working and it's just the hard drive (and so not really "dead",) then it maybe more worthwhile to either get a replacement hard drive, or sell the iMac and use the money to buy a monitor. Doing the previously mention modification will make the computer portion of the iMac not functional permanently. (Whereas now you have a working iMac that's still worth something if you try to sell it.) A non-Apple 19-21" monitor goes for much less than $200 so for most people without the skill, it's not worth the trouble to convert a broken iMac into a monitor. -
Video Graphics Card and the iMac
Can the video graphics card you have in the iMac be replaced with another graphics card?
Or is it hardwired in? Sorta like a wysiwyg?Darren, thx for the list. I didn't think think the graphics card could be changed out, but I think it was worth asking.
Besides that, I think the Radeon 9600 card is a good enough card anyway -

64 bit and the iMac 24", 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB memory
Hello,
I am confused about the whole 32 bit 64 bit situation
I have installed Snow leopard on my new iMac 24", 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB memory.
Can this machine run 64bit? I thought it was a 32 bit machine.
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Most Apple application run in 64 bit mode no matter what. Third party apps will if they are designed to. The unix kernel defaults to 32 bit mode for compatibility reasons. You can switch it to 64 if you like. I tried it and lost my Kensington mouse driver. Switching back to 32 brought it back. There is very little reason a normal user would need to run in 64 bit mode... but dangit I WANT to! Sadly my extra mouse buttons are more important...
