Vizio 24 1080 TV connection

Just got a Vizio 24 1080 TV with HDMI and VGA inputs. I used the mini to VGA connection and I don't like the way the fonts show on the screeen (Kind of blurry) definately not HD looking. Does the mini to HDMI intput work better with LCD TV's? Or is there some setting I should do to make the fonts look cleaner?

What computer do you have? The MacBook like it says in your signature?
the only model that outputs to 1080 is the 17 inch MBP.
Your MacBook will not display full-screen on the 16x9 screen without stretch. That is why it looks blurry.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Hookup Bose Component connection to Vizio TV HDMI connection

I got a new tv over the weekend and am trying to hook up my Bose sound system.  Is there an adapter that can be used to hook up the 5 plug component from the bose to the hdmi on the tv?
The tv only has one set of component plugs that will be used for the WII.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Exactly what kind of Bose system do you have? If you're using as a DVD player, my honest suggestion would be to upgrade to Bluray and use the Bose for audio only.

  • No sound when using HDMI to Vizio TV. HP Pavilion dv4-4310us

I just bought a Vizio HDTV and connected to my HP Pavilion dv4-4310us Entertainment Notebook.  I have it connected through the HDMI output on the laptop and get great picture, but no sound! I have scoured the forums for Win 7, and here on HP's site...tried a few things but it seems I'm having a different problem than others.  Other people have posted that they had sound before and now have no sound.  This is my first time using the HDMI output to a TV... I'm running Win 7 Professional, the Audio is IDT, and I have all updated drivers for the Intel 4 Chipset, and the IDT Audio CODEC.  I'm hoping someone can help with this!  It's very frustrating.  Thank you in advance.
    Michele

Yeah. It kind of *****! But it is true, HDMI does not transmit sound, just video. Which it does well I must say.
What I did is I have surround sound and I plugged a cord that has male connectors on both sides and I plugged it into my amp on one side and my mcbook on the other, so now I can get sound onto my surround sound and also get the video images on my HDTV. =) If you have a surround sound system with an amp, I would recomend doing this. Its easiest.

  • How to reset display settings? 120 hz over HDMI on 2014 MBPr makes screen go black

Hi, I have a 15" 2014 MBPr with the 750m. Recently, I bought a TV, a vizio M422i-B1. One of my main reasons for buying the TV was to use it as a third display for my mac. I have two displays already connected, a 27 inch 1440 display over thunderbolt, and another 23" display that is 1080 and connected over the other thunderbolt.
I got the TV mounted above my desk, and ran an HDMI down from the TV to where I put my laptop, and plugged the TV in to the computer in the HDMI port on my mac.
It worked, but the refresh rate was set at 60 for the TV on my computer, but since my TV is 120Hz, I set the refresh rate in display settings to 120. It worked fine, and the mouse movement on the TV was more normal looking, so I was happy.
I put the computer to sleep a little later, and came back, and it wouldn't wake up, even after disconnecting all the displays and other peripherals, it would not wake. I restarted the computer, and with nothing connected it rebooted and worked normally.
I connected everything one by one, USB stuff first, fine. 1440 display over thunderbolt, and everything was fine. same with the 1080 display.
I went to plug in the TV again, and everything went black. I had to restart the computer without the TV plugged in to do anything. Restarting with the TV plugged in to the mac doesn't fix anything.
I know my issue is the refresh rate for the TV being set at 120Hz, and I have to change it back to 60 Hz, my problem is that as far as I know I have to have the TV plugged in to change the refresh rate, but if I plug the TV in it kills the computer. Is there a way to reset the display settings so that it doesn't "remember" that I want the TV to be 120Hz?

Did you ever figure this out?

  • Mini-DVI to VGA flicker with Snow Leopard and 2nd monitor

I have a 24" iMac (fall 2007) and recently purchased a 26" Vizio (VMM26F10I) and connected it as a 2bd monitor for my iMac using the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter Apple sells.
The new monitor will flicker now and then and some times will go to no signal. I have to change resolutions to something else and then back to standard setting to get it to come back or unplug adapter and plug back in.
Is there a fix for this?

26" VGA...? Which resolution/frequency? Have you tried a fresh cable with clean connectors, etc....
What did Vizio say when you contacted them with this question about your new purchase?

  • Mac Pro to HD TV Headache (DVI to HDMI)

    Hey,
I'm looking to output my mac pro to my HDTV (cheap mans video output monitor). I got a DVI to HDMI connector and all the females and males seem to agree to the point that its all connected up rather well.
Only problem is that my mac pro only detects my computer monitor, not the TV that I've attached. Things to note:
    - I normally run two monitors at 1920 x 1200. I just removed one and replaced with DVI > HDMI adapter going to TV.
    * I can get the display to work in windows (although for some reason, although it outputs to the TV via HDMI the other screen stops working) so the connectors are working fine.
    * I tried hooking up the monitor to the port, downgrade the res to something below 1080, then connected the TV again, no result!
    * I couldn't get 1080 resolution on my screens as its not an option in the display preferences.
    * Before anyone states the obvious (at this point even that would be helpful) I restarted every time I attached another display.
    * I have searched google, apple support, and these forums and I feel im going insane.
To summarise, I havent seen my mac on the TV yet. Its staring back at me with a blank black. Not good!
Any help would be much apprecaited,
    Cheers,
    K

Hmm, maybe its my graphics card?
I've tried it both on a TV and a HD projector, getting the same result.
If i go to windows then set the resolution to 1920x1080 then it works, so cable and everything is good. Its just the Mac that doesn't pick up the display. If there was anyway I could force it to find the display or be able to set my resolution to 1920x1080 it might help!
Frustration is really setting in now!
Also, I remember a while back I got two new monitors. I couldn't get these to work until I plugged in my old monitors, reduced the resolution, then plug in the new ones. I dont know if its some bug with my computer specifically or its something more generic.

  • Resolutions not detected...

I have two Samsung HD (1920 x 1080) monitors connected to my MacBook Pro running 10.7.5 via a Zotac HDMI dual adapter to the computers Mini display port.
My computer had been detecting these monitors as a single 3840 x 1080 resolution monitor (ie. the combined resolution of two HD screens) ever since I first connected them, but now suddenly it won't detect this resolution and will only see them as the same 1920 x 1080 input, so they are basically operating as mirrored displays of each other.  this obviously makes one of them superfluous and I would like to be able to detect them as before, as a 3840 x 1080 resolution spanning the two monitors.
Any ideas how I can restore this?  Thanks...

bjackman wrote:I don't know what 773 means, but it looks like an octal permissions setting. That seems improbable though. I'd be very interested if anyone knew.
Every resolution in the vbios has a number. Maybe it's an index or something. But basically, that's it. See the list in the first post, the numbers in []? Add 512 to those and there you have it.
For standard resolutions (320x200-1280x1024), the numbers are the same in every vbios. For non-standard ones that may or may not be there, the numbers differ. An example: In my specific vbios, 865 means 1280x800-32. Bananabrain's vbios doesn't even have 1280x800.

  • When I uncheck "mirror displays" my laptop color changes badly

I have a new Vizio external monitor connected via HDMI and thunderbolt adapter to my Macbook Pro (2013) (10.9.5). In System Preferences, when I am mirroring displays all is well. But when I uncheck "Mirror Displays", the color on my laptop drastically changes. All of a sudden it's heavily orange and blue, although the color on my monitor is unchanged either way. Thoughts? • How do I connect my 27" Imac to my 47" Vizio HDTV?

    Good Morning!
I am attempting to connect my 27" Imac to my brand-spankin-new 47" Vizio 1080p HDTV. I know there is a way to use the TV to display videos, internet (Netflix), and such, but I'm not sure what is the simplest and most effective way to get the best display and performance.
What equipment do I need to make this happen?
Thank you for your assistance, brilliant people!

    I have the 22" imac
beside it I have an 24" dell monitor
I used a miniDisplayport->DVi converter in the TB port of the imac
thats the best performance because DVI like Displayport are both digital interfaces
    same deal with hdmi really
so you need a miniDisplayport to dvi or hdmi depending on the inputs on your tv
and a cable and thats it

  • My new Macbook air won't connect to my Vizio HDTV.

My new Macbook Air won't connect to my Vizio VO32LF HDTV.  I bought a mini-displayport to HDMI cable to connect the two.  When I connect the cable, and switch to the appropriate HDMI input on the TV, my Macbook Air screen will flash blue for a second, and then return to normal.  The TV reports it's unable to find a signal.  I use the HDTV as my primary monitor, so I'd really appreciate some help on getting the two to place nicely together!

    Cp,
Thanks for the reply. However, it appears that the issue is not with the hotspot, but with the network settings in the MacBook Air as every other device I have (including non-Apple devices) will connect to the iPhone hotspot. Another symptom is that my MacBook Air can find my iMac (and other network devices) on my wireless network, but the iMac can't find the MacBook Air.

  • What cable(s) do I need to connect my late 2011 MacBook Pro to the new VIZIO HDMI tv in my classroom?

I want to use the VIZIO large-screen TV mounted on the wall of my classroom to mirror the screen on my new MacBook Pro.
I am already mirroring my iPad 2 with GREAT results using AppleTV.  Using the HD Note Taker App is a dream.
Graphing calculator apps are brilliant, too.  ( I teach Precalculus and AP Calculus)
But now I need to be able to do new things that cannot be done on the iPad.  What cables and/or adaptors do I need so that the
flat-screen TV becomes a another monitor?

You need a MiniDisplay port to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable.  The MDP adapter plugs into the Thunderbolt port.

  • Why does my Vizio hdtv say no signal when I connect my minidisplay port to hdmi cord between my macbook pro and tv?

My Vizio hdtv says "No Signal" when I use my mini displayport to hdmi cord. It worked flawlessly for a month but randomly decided to no longer work.
I am using a macbook pro from early 2011 running os x Lion 10.7.5 and a thunderbolt to hdmi cord. The cord has worked without a hitch the numerous times I've used it until recently. Now plugging it in will cause the macbook to flash blue quicker than normal and immediately go back to the normal screen. I know the macbook recognizes the TV because changing the input on the TV to the hdmi connected to the computer will cause the macbook to flash blue again, with the same result. The TV remains unresponsive. I have tried all combinations of turning on and off the TV and macbook with the cord plugged in and unpugged from either and both systems and in both hdmi inputs on the TV. I've changed the display resolution to every possible option with no result. The TV is not recognized as a display on either the Display section of System Preferences or the Sound section.
It confounds me that the cord should work flawlessly until now, a month after buying it, for no apparent reason. I've been gentle with the cord, so the problem being a result of damage is unlikely. I had not updated my computer in any way between the successful and unsuccessful uses of the cord, but I have since updated my computer and the problem remains.
I have searched for this problem on the Internet and have seen others with similar problems, but I have not found a solution that resolves my problem. I hope to avoid having to make any additional purchases.
And a thousand and one thanks to any and all who help.

Do you have gfxCardStatus installed?  Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete".  You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.

Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input.
