Vlan 1 in cat exp 500

What is the real name for the vlan 1 in the Catalyst Express 500 switch?.
im receving vlan name mismatch between an ASA5505 and a CE500.

The switch ships with a default VLAN to which all the switch ports initially belong. The switch supports a maximum of 32 VLANs, including the default VLAN. Using only the default VLAN might be sufficient based on the size and requirements of your network. We recommend that you first determine your VLAN needs before you create VLANs.
Cisco Catalyst 500 series switches work in VTP Transparent mode. VLAN creation, modification, or deletion done on this switch does not affect the other switches in the domain.

  • 802.1X and CAT Express 500

    Hi guys,
I want to know if the Cat Express 500 support dynamic vlan assigment through 802.1X.

    Hi,
You can do the vlan arrisgnment using 802.1x on CE500. The configuration for 802.1X and Radius authentication server can be done with the help of Cisco Network Assistant (CNA). In the menu Network Security Settings you have to put the
security level on high. There is the possibility to configure the IP address of the RADIUS server and the RADIUS key.
In case you don?t have the CNA, you can download it for free from:

HTH, Please rate if it does.

  • Cat express 500 and AP´s

I have 1 1200 AP, 1 Cat express 500, 1 7920 ip phone and a notebook. How do i configure the switch port so that i can have different wireless vlans for voice and for data?
For the phone to join an ssid it must be an infrastructure one. For the ssid to be infrastructure, the vlan must be native. I can´t choose the native vlan in the cat express 500, only the vlan 1 can be native and that is not my voice vlan!
With other switches this works just fine......Any suggestions of how to configure it????

Basically at this stage with the Cat 500, there is no way to assign a port natively to the "Cisco-Voice" VLAN. Basically cisco screwed up completely here, and I believe will fix this in a future software update.
However as a workaround you can ignore completely the Cisco-Voice VLAN, create a new VLAN (I used VLAN3) and assign this to the port for the 1200AP. Change the smartport role for each "IP phone & Desktop" to "Switch" - this allows a trunk between phone & Cat500 and will allow the phone to communicate on VLAN3 with the AP (if you set phone to VLAN3)
EDIT - Sorry I just re-read your message and it sounds like you need to set-up the port to the AP as a SWITCH, because you want multiple VLANS on the wireless - sorry not familiar with this AP, but using 'switch' should trunk the VLANs no bother as long as the AP supports it.

  • VLAN support on ESW 500 switch

How many VLANs does the ESW 500 switch support?

The ESW 500 switch supports a max of 256 VLANs and can accomodate upto 8000 MAC addresses in the CAM table.
Note, by default on the POE switches, VLANs 1 (data) and 100 (voice) are enabled while on the non POE switches, only VLAN 1 (data) is enabled.

  • Cat Express 500 Auto-MDIX

    I am trying to connect a Cat 500 Express to a 2950, using a stright-through cable.
If I enable auto-mdix on the Cat 500, I have to enable auto speed and duplex settings.
If I do this, I get a duplex mismatch.
Can i set the auto-mdix to work, without having to auto-negotiate the speed and duplex settings ?
On the 2950, the settings are 100/full
    Thanks

BY default CE-500 is auti-mdix & u need not make any changes on duplex settingz. bcoz i never faced such problem by connecting my CE-500 to 2950, juz a straight cable connecting from CE-500 gigabit to 2950 gigabit. thatz it, i didn't get any duplux mismatch, try to check once again in 2950 that every thing is set auto(duplex & speed)

  • Cat Express 500 & 2950 RSTP & PVST

    Hi,
    I have a Cat 500 connected to a 2950,
    on a 802.1q trunk.
The Cat 500, seems to be running RSTP and the 2950, is capabale of only pvst.
The port seems to go into blocking state in the Cat 500.
After changing the Cat 500 to run IEEE STP, the problems I was having with ports being blocked disappeared.
Can anyone suggest what is the best approach when running a Cat 500, connected to a Cat 2950 ?
Do I need to enable MST on the Cat 500, so that it can interop with 2950 ?
If I have only thses 2 switches, is the best option just setting both switches to use the same STP mode ?
    Thanks

    YES,
the best option is to use the same STP type/mode throughout your environment.
rapid-PVST+ is interoperable with PVST+. when the two exist, the rPVST+ switch reverts to PVST+ unless you are running dual STP instances, one for rPVST+ and one for PVST+.
again, if you can run the same STP mode, please do.
please see the following link for much more STP info:

  • Jumbo Frame - Enabling on a VLAN of CAT 6500 running IOS

Jumbo frames needs to be enabled on one of the vlan interface on Cisco 6500 IOS Switch.
    =================================================================
•1) Once enabled the mtu 9216 on the required vlan interface do we need to reload the switch to take effect (I believe that in some low end swicthes it needs a reload)
•2) If we enable only one Vlan interface, how about the other vlan interfaces(about 200 are on this switch)? Do we need to specify mtu1500 on other vlan interfaces?
I have read information at the following two links, but I still wish to reconfirm by asking the questions in this forum. Someone who has already implemented this may have gained more experience while implementing it on CAT 6500 IOS Switch.

You do not need to reboot your 6500 after you enable jumbo frames, but it is good idea to do it during an outage window. You only need to reboot smaller switches i.e. 3560, 3750, etc...after enabling jumbo frames. On these switches you can only enable it globally.  Only enable jumbo frames for the vlans you need.  You usually need jumbo frames for vlans connecting to the storage systems.
    Good Luck

  • How to connect VLAN between Cat 3750X-24T-S & SG500-52

Does anybody can help me with above topics?
I would like to connect Cat 3750X-24T-S to SG500-52 Uplink (Combo RJ-45 Port).
    Thanks,
    Willy

In which way do you want to connect these switches? From the information provided, the answer is to connect a RJ45 in to each switch and apply power to both devices and they are connected on VLAN 1.
Can you provide more information such as VLAN and what is your intention to do with the VLANs?

  • Cat Express 500 Slow Admin and keeps crashing

    Hi
    I have a customer with 2x WS-CE500-24PC and 2x WS-CE500-24TT
They are brand new and most ports are set to IP Phone smartports with 2 as wireless access ports and 1 router port with an 1841 in it. They are all uplinked together.
When first rebooted http admin access is ok but after a couple of minutes it becomes un-usable and then eventually the switch reboots (does this 2 times a day).
i have 1x WS-CE500-24LC and this is fine never misses a beat, its also linked into the same network.
here is where it gets crazy, if i set all the ports to other its fine, but i cannot use any of the phones because it does not put them in the voice VLAN.
Any ideas it driving me and my customer mad.
    Andy

Try to disable the arp inspection feature in the CE500's CLI.
This feature can sometimes introduce some disconnectivity on this particular switch.
Enter the following line in your browser:
    http://10.0.0.1/exec/cli
    ip arp inspection vlan 1-1024
ip arp inspection vlan 1-1024 logging acl-match none
ip arp inspection vlan 1-1024 logging dhcp-bindings none
If your switch uses a different ip address than please use that address. After you applied this, it will take about 15 till 20 minutes to decrease the cpu utlization.

  • Significance of Account Type EXP,LEQ,INC,AST in BPC- Need some valid reason

    Hi,
I have a question why we need account type in BPC. Is there really any Business significance for maintaining Account Type ?
Account type LEQ, INC it behaves differently while load data/display data as sign change happens in SAP Back end. Major issue comes when you try to create a re-concillation report using BEX tool for LEQ, INC accounts in BPC and BI cube as you need to reverse the sign in BEX side for any calculation or any data match for INC and LEQ accounts.
My implication is : Is there anything wrong if we take all accounts as EXP account type because what data comes from other source/Input schedule remain as such for all accounts. There will be no Discrepancy/confusion of sign while in reporting in BI side or BPC side. You can follow normal calculation process if you have calculated any item in the report and does not bother about the account type and behaves same as the BI cube data.
Any idea or any issue if the above implication is implemented. I need some concrete reasons for the above issue as it create a extra headache/confusion in BPC impementation project.
    Thanks
    Debasisha

    Hi Debasish,
Lets take a simple example. Lets say you have revenue as INC, sales as EXP and Profit as INC. You enter values from input schedule as below
Acct    Type    Value entered in IS      Value in DB
    Revenue   INC   400                   -400
    Sales   EXP     100                  100
Lets say Profit is the parent, then the values will be
    Profit   INC   -300
In the report, you will see the data as 300 (since profit is of type INC).
However, if you keep all as EXP, then
Acct    Type    Value entered in IS      Value in DB
    Revenue   EXP   400                   400
    Sales   EXP     100                  100
    Profit    EXP                             500
The above data, as you can see, is incorrect. Now, for making it correct, you need to put a formula for Profit as Revenue - Sales. This looks easy, however, will become cumbersome with more number of members.
Hope you got the idea now.

  • Catalyst Express 500 + CCM

I was attempting to configure the VLAN for my CCM server on a CE-500 and it seems that you can only assign the 'Cisco-Voice' VLAN to a port with the 'Desktop+Phone' personality assigned to it. Any ideas on how you set up your CCM and CU server exclusively in the voice VLAN on a C-500?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi All
I was told about this 'can't assing a port to the voice vlan' issue by one of our engineers a while back... I found it hard to believe...
I just got my hands on a CE500, and yep - it won't allow any port via the 'customise smartports' screen to be set to vlan Cisco-Voice except for the IPPHone+Desktop template... which makes it pretty useless for all our Mitel/Avaya/CiscoCCM.. in fact useless for anything except CME with a dot1q trunked interface I guess.
Not to be beaten I tried running Cisco Network Assistant - this allows you to set ports to the voice VLAN, but only if it is a IPPhone+Desktop smartport, or a server smartport... which is just fine.
I then updated the CE500 to the new (12.2(25)SEG) - and then it allows it through the built-in GUI as well... so you can set a server port to be in the VVLAN, it was just a bug....
One that mysteriously didn't make it into the released notes as a 'resolved caveat'...
Note to Cisco: must try harder.
    Hope this helps
    Aaron

  • Cisco ASA 5505 Remote Access IP/Sec VPN Connectivity Issues

We have a Cisco ASA that we use just for Remote Access VPN. It uses UDP and was working fine for about 2 months. Recently clients have had intermittent issues when connecting from home. The following message is display by the Cisco VPN Client :
"Secure VPN connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding"
Upon looking at a client side packet capture, I notice that no response is being given back to the client for the udp packets sent to the ASA on udp 500. If I login to the ASA from the LAN and send a single ping FROM the ASA, then the client can connect without issue. I don't understand the significance of the needed outbound ping since ping is not used by the client to test if the ASA is alive.
Once again this is a remote access udp ip/sec VPN. I set most of it up with the VPN wizard and then backed up the config. The issue started happening at least a month after setup (maybe two) and I restored to the saved config just in-case, but the issue remains.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using IOS 831 and have tried 821 and 823 as one thread that I found recommended downgraded to 821.
    Thanks much,
    Justin

    Javier,
I logged into the ASA last time the VPN went down. I issued the following commands:
    debug crypto isakmp 190
    debug crypto ipsec 190
capture outside-cap interface outside match udp any any
I then used a remote access tool to access the client and tried to connect. I got absolutely nothing from debugging. So I issued the following command:
show capture outside | include 500
and also got nothing. So I issued the following command:
    ping 4.2.2.2
Upon which my normal deug messaged began to showup, so I issued the show capture outside command again and recieved the expected output below:

It would seem as if no traffic reached the ASA until some outbound traffic to an arbitrary public IP. In this case I sent an echo request to a public DNS server. It seems almost like a state-table issue although I don't know how ICMP ties in.
Once again, any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
This you can do it in two ways:
    1. Make three header under top level....one Product A, 2nd Product B ( as Billing element) and third as Common expense ( only cost). Now 1st & 2 nd WBS, you have to have sales order linking with individual lint item, for third you will accumulate all the common expense till the period end then make a reposting of the same in desired proportion to both products WBS hierarchy
(This is if you want to have a track on the common expense as well.......like planning, budgeting & control)
After this reposting, run RA for individual billing element and hence you will all the complement detailing and control over Revenue and expense with respect to Product A and Product B individually.
    2. If you don't want to maintain that kind of detailing the common expense and keep track of it through project, then have cost centers accordingly and make an assesment/ distribution with respect to expenses accumulated at those cost centers for the period to the respective WBS under each product. Then execute the period end processes for the project.
    Or
You can try with have two more line items in the costing sheet as an overhead against common expenses with respect each product.
I hope this should help you.

Clearing will be possible to subledgers(Customer & Vendor) and GL accounts which are open item managed.
Normally clearing wil happen automatically for subledgers at the time of payment/receipt except partial payments/receipts.
You have to clear these partial payments/receipts at month end. Beacuse in some organizations month wise they maintain exchange rates, in that case if you clear the items in next month, system will post realized gain/loss. To avoid these types of Fx considerations you have to clear them.
