VLAN settings across reboots

I have two VLANs configured on my Built-in Ethernet. After a reboot they appear to be properly configured (one even gets a DHCP response) but they cannot connect to network. Safari spins and eventually says it is not connected to the Internet. Other network connections like SSH do not work either. After deleting the two VLANs and adding them again everything works fine.
Should VLAN settings be persistent across reboots?

I have exact the same problem on a Mac Mini running OS X Server 10.5.8. Once rebooted the VLAN interface seems to be broken.
Did you find any solution for it?

So I have to do a
#dladm delete-aggr 1
so I can create a new one and start the whole process over again.

This has been resolved in patch 120990-02 (SunOS 5.10: net-physical
Patch)
I applied the patch and put the aggregate address in the file, /etc/hostname.aggr1 and it remained across reboots.

My wifi wasn't working for more than 10 minutes at a time after updating to IOS8 and resetting network settings. I turned off google drive, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings and rebooted my iPad4. So far so good.

I have an ipad4. Wifi keeps cutting out after the upgrade even after I forget the network and resign on or reset all network settings. I deleted iCloud drive from my iPad, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings, and rebooted my iPad. Since I upgraded to IOS8 this is the longest wifi has consistently been working for me. Which is approximately an hour now. Anyone else find that this worked or have figured out if this or anything out there is a permanent fix?

Yes, I am connected to the Internet through my wifi. Everything is working fine with the e eption of youtube. I have reset all Internet settings and have tried synching to iTunes followed by rebooting. This is all the advice I have found although none of it has been helpful.

I'm following this
guide I'm getting an error when running the below command:
Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan -vmname PurpleVM1 -Isolated -PrimaryVlanId 2 –SecondaryVlanId 4
Generates the following error:
Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan : The operation failed.
Failed while applying switch port settings 'Ethernet Switch Port VLAN Settings' on switch 'New Virtual Switch': One or
more arguments are invalid (0x80070057).
A parameter that is not valid was passed to the operation.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

It seems that there is a configuration conflict on the virtual switch port .
Also I tested the command on my lab , it works .
For troubleshooting please create a new virtual switch then try to configure again .

Fix for X-grid agents losing their config across reboots??

We have a podcast producing system with 5 servers, 3 of which are Xgrid agents,
and one of the others is the Xgrid controller. Sometimes we need to reboot some
of the machines, and when we do the whole Xgrid set up goes. We need to go in to
XGrid Admin, remove the agents, and re-add them, then log in to each agent, and start/configure Xgrid to find/join the XGrid again. Even though Xgrid is set as a service on these Xgrid agents, and they were previously configured. All XServers
are running 10.5.5. Is this normal, or how do others manage to keep their Agents
in the Grid across reboots? Thanks - Paul

screw it.. i dunno... bad drivers, that's what i'm accounting it to. Nobody seems to know what the problem is anymore.
With that said, the card works wonderfully now =D
Someone on this board mentioned some third party drivers, so I went and found them. I had no troubles installing and have had no troubles with the drivers
since their installation a few days ago.
These drivers are not supported nor created by Creative (as far as I know). Use the drivers at your own risk.
First, go to this address and read up on their drivers and how to install and what not. All the posts you should care about are sticked, so read the stickies!

I noticed that the links to their drivers are lousy/don't work. Some nice person went and hosted all their files on a different site.

Be very cautious when downloading their drivers from filefront. The host has numerous old versions up and the file names aren't always 00% copy/paste from
the YouP Pax site, so be certain you have the right file before downloading/installing.
READ THE STICKIED INSTALLATION GUIDE! Same thing as with the installing Creatives' drivers, if you don't completely uninstall former drivers, bad things happen.

I ran into an issue with netcfg static IP not persisting across reboots in a VM. I figured it out, but it took me awhile as a brand new user, so I thought I'd post it.
Setup
Using VMWare Workstation 8.0.3 build-703057 with bridged networking
Host OS: Linux Mint 14 64-bit
Guest OS: Arch Linux 2013.03.01 x86_64
Given a fresh install on the guest, setup netcfg:
cd /etc/network.d
cp examples/ethernet-static ./myprofile
nano myprofile
# customize this file. I also added NETMASK='255.255.255.0'
systemctl enable netcfg@myprofile
systemctl start netcfg@myprofile
Test the configuration. It should be successful:
ping google.com
Problem
See if the changes survive a reboot.
reboot
ping google.com
I got the error "connect: Network is unreachable".
Check the logs:
journalctl
G
I found the following netcfg failure..
[email protected]: main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
..prior to the following device initialization:
kernel: e1000 0000:02:00.0 eth0: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection
system-udevd[117]: renamed network interface eth0 to emp2s0
Solution
It looks like netcfg is being started before the device it depends on has been initialized. Inform systemd of the
dependency so they start in the proper order:
# nano /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/[email protected]
# Add the following to [Unit]. Remember to replace enp2s0 with your device name.
Requires=sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp2s0.device
After=sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp2s0.device
Test again:
reboot
ping google.com
This should now be successful.

VLAN info across a Point-to-Point WAN circuit

What is the best way to temporarily pass VALN info across a Point-to-Point T1 WAN circuit. Here is a simple layout:
I have a 355012G at the Corporate Core with several VLANs for domain login, IP phones, file servers, printers, etc. I have a remote location that is currently getting the VLAN info across a wireless bridge (2 1300s and a 3500XL switch at the remote warehouse. The customer wants to connect the remote site with a Point-to-Point T1 and a new 35660 switch as follows:
MAIN-------------------------------------------REMOTE
355012G---e---3560R--------P-to-P------2610R--e--3560
What would be the best design / config scenario for passing the CORE VLAN info across the WAN P-to-P?
I was thinking bridging?
Any thoughts?

I have been thinking about this for a while and I can't find a way to do it. I know you can do embedded trunks but that is not what you are asking to do. The only alternative you have is to bridge the traffic.
Sorry can't be more helpful than that but since no one else has responded I figured I would giev my 2 cents for what it might be worth.

Hyper-V 2012 R2 - Linux Guest VLAN Settings lost after reboot

Hi Guys,
last night a have seen a strange behavior with a Sophos UTM 9.204020 Linux Guest VM. (This VM is based on SUSE SLES v11? i think)
So i have Setup this in my home lab and experienced the same problem.
----Setup-----
2 External VM Switches
Management OS is on VLAN 4093 with IP 192.168.20.1
The guest network adapter is in Trunk Mode, VLAN Tag (4093) is set in the guest OS with IP 192.168.20.100
Everything works until you kick off a reboot from the guest or hyper-v console, after the reboot you loose the connectivity on the network adapter with the vlan trunk.
If you shutdown the guest and start it everthing works again - this happens only on reboot!!
I have tried diffrent things (static mac, enable disable hardware features (vmq/offloading etc) on the vm network adapter but always the same error.
After some search on the net i have found this article: Link
This guy has the same problem with another linux vm (based on debian) his workaround was to trigger a powershell script with the eventlog after reboot of the vm, this works for me too but this must be bug?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

After Windows 10 update synaptics driver forgets settings on reboot

Yes jf87, Win 8.1 on touchpads with availablity have swiping. It is gesturing across from left to right or right to left. Also up and down swipes. The swipes start from off the touchpad and swipe over the edge (with a singe finger)and onto the touchpad from one of the directions I mentioned. It brought up menus and other programs running. A nice option.

I might have found a trick, in any case that works for me with the latest Synaptics driver automatically installed today by Windows Update. Change the registry value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\DisableIntPDFeature to "33" (Hexa - it should be set at 22). Reboot. Now it should disable the trackpad on startup when there's a mouse connected. Only downside is that now every time I reboot there is this Windows notification on the bottom right corner telling the trackpad has been disabled because a mouse is connected to the computer... Don't know how to get rid of that yet.EDIT: Nevermind, just disable the Synaptics app notifications in the computer settings (tab "notifications")...! Nokia 6288 doesn't retain settings after reboot

Hi, i've a problem with a Nokia 6288 that after each reboot
does not retain settings regarding "Normal" profile and background. If i turn off the phone, when i turn it back on it reverts to blank backround and "nokia tune" ringtone and all other settings to default.
I already tried to reset it to factory default but had no luck.
Also tried reflashing firmware with nokia software updater but the problem still remains.
There is a way for "hard resetting" it to factory default?

A nokia care point can hard reset a series 40 phone, you cannot do it yourself. They will also be able to fix your problem.

Mavericks "forgetting" simple settings after reboot

After upgrading to Mavericks I was surprised by the the new wave background image on all my spaces - while it is a lovely picture I use the background as a clue to which space I'm in, so I reset them to my own pictures/images as they were prior to the upgrade.
After rebooting the images returned to the wave on all spaces - huh, that's weird... So I reset them.
I also noticed I had an AppleScript app that wasn't working right and I need to debug, so I turned off the "Open at Login" option for the app and went about my business.
I rebooted again later in the day and once again my desktop images were reset and the AppleScript app was launched at login.
What am I missing that Mavericks is forgetting these customization settings?

I was having the same issue with background images. Every time I restarted, back to the waves...
I've since placed in the image in Library>Desktop Pictures and changed the image through preferences. So far it's been holding (fingers crossed). Previously I had been using the Contextual Menu>Services>Set as Background Image to do it.
There is also another way. Navigate to System>Library>CoreServices>DefaultDesktop.jpg.
You'll see it's an alias to the Waves, background. In this case, just create a new alias with the correct privileges and the same name that points to your desired photo. You may have to do this as the root user.
Lot's of trouble for a simple thing, hopefully it gets fixed.

Cannot make calls or receive calls. Good network coverage. All I get is static or dead air. I've tried restoring to factory settings. Rebooting ect. No luck. Any suggestions?
