Vlan users size

Good morning,
I have got a switching environment with around 300 users.
I am worried that 300 is a too big number for the domain. They are heavy users (email, printing, internet etc). Do you have any best practice indication (CCO link) about the design?
What is the best broadcast percentage allowed in the domain?
WHat is a alarming level (10%/20%)?

Hello,
there are no real clear-cut design rules, it all depends on user traffic patterns. VLANs with clients that use a high-bandwidth or broadcast-intensive application should have fewer users.
Anyway, 300 users in one VLAN definitely sounds like too many. The number of users might also be constrained by your IP addressing scheme (e.g. a Class C address space could never have more than 254 users anyway).

Machine Authentication On One Vlan, User authentication on another

I am trying to have my wireless users authenticate the machines on one vlan and then based upon the user id from AD switch to another vlan if required. I have it working just fine except when the user logs on and ACS forces the new vlan, the IP stack goes to "Limited Access" because the ip address hasn't released and renewed. Because of this until they turn off and turn the wireless card back on they go no where and log on routines such as scripts and user group policies don't execute. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a file named: <reposname>.rop in the repos directory of your
Forte environment. It is a log of the repository operations. You may get some
clue as to what is happening there.

Migration Assistant fails - calculates user size as a large negative number

I have a recurring problem that has prevented me from successfully using Migration Assistant to move my user account from my old computer to my new computer (since 3 computers ago, but definitely still a problem with my freshly updated Tiger machine).
The problem that I have seems to be that something about my user account makes the size in "Step 1 of 4: Pick Users To Transfer To This Machine" say that my user's size is "-53673944.7 GB"
At the bottom of the same screen it says "Space Remaining: 53673968.3 GB" and "Selected Items: -53673925.1" -- so it clearly is making some kind of horrible math error and then propagating it through all it's calculations.
Everything on "Step 2 of 4..." seems to be normal, and in fact the MA worked fine to move everything but my user account over.
When I arrive at "Step 4 of 4..." the "Migrate" button is always greyed out if I have my user account selected in step 1, which doesn't actually make sense, since right on the page it says I have over 51 petabytes free and will benefit by gaining some additional space after migrating. (Perhaps there is some last minute sanity check that does not simply involve subtraction and a test for greater-than-zero).
I'd really like to be able to migrate... what could I possible have in my home directory that would cause this? I certainly have some symbolic links scattered around, but those should really not be followed... has anyone seen any behaviour like this before? Does anyone at Apple care that there is obviously a serious bug with the Migration Assistant (although clearly only in some special situation)?

Surprisingly, it let me run Disk Utility from the original factory MBP install DVD!
I was able to click "Repair Disk" and it displayed lines of info in the window. One of the lines it outputted was in red and said,
"Exceeded recommended limit of 100 nested folders".
I found this site -- http://hintsforums.macworld.com/showthread.php?t=28421 -- then ran this in Terminal -- *sudo find / -mindepth 100* -- and it outputted page after page of lines for my flight simulator, FlightGear.app.
Here's one example line that Terminal found...

Email blocked due to perceived "size" but email is actually below the size limit

I emailed an SSRS report that was exported to xlsx. The report in 21,680,128 bytes (on disk) and outlook says the email size is 21 MB, but I receive a response back for postmaster@... that said "The recipient won't be able to receive this message
because it's too large. The maximum message size that's allowed is 25 MB. This message is 28 MB." Farther down in the email it says "Remote Server returned
'550 5.2.3 RESOLVER.RST.RecipSizeLimit; message too large for this recipient".
Why is the email size showing an increase of 33%. The email, with the attached file, had no images or logos and only eight lines of text.

Assuming you don't have per-user size restrictions and you're aware of all the places tht size is enforced:

I try to create a job that sends all user their "IDM-PASSWORD" via email.
In the first step, I generate a random password for all user. This password should now be sent to each user so they can log in to IDM-UI.
This is my approach:

Not caching user in caching realm

Using Rdbms realm and have enabled caching with the
weblogic.security.realm.cache.user.size=121
weblogic.security.realm.cache.tt.positive=500
I have set a method be accessed by particular group/role as part of that i am doing
BasicRealm realm = Security.getRealm();System.out.println("the class is " + realm.getClass());
Enumeration users = ((CachingRealm)realm).getUsers();
while(users.hasMoreElements()) {
system.out.println("user name is" + users.nextElement().getName());
As expected the realm name is CachingRealm but the user name are system,everyone and guest.Why its not printing any other

or is it only possible to update the whole cache?

Listing Mailbox Size Limits

I am looking for an easy way to check individual mailbox limits without manually clicking my way through 3000 users.
I have looked up the Admin API for running a simple vbscript but the mailbox limits field isn't listed in the API reference. Surely someone has had to do this before?

Oppss!! Sorry for the confusion.
You can have a listing of the Mailbox Size Limit for each user doing a maintenance of the post office.
Try this.
1.-Do a GroupWise Mailbox/Library Maintenance
Select Action: Analyze/Fix Database
Select: Structure
Select: Contents
Select: Collect Statistics
Databases. Users (Selecet Message if you want)
Results: Send the results to you email.
2.- Wait by the end of the process
3.- Open the log file and search for "Disk space management values"
You can observe the following values for each user:
.- Size Limit - (n)KB
.- Threshold - (n)%
.- (n)kbytes in use by user's mail

Layer 3 3750g inter vlan route to internet interface

How do you route the inner vlan to the internet? Say you have 3 vlan on switch and one port on switch that is set to no switch port with an IP address that connects to a Rogers modem, what besides the default route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 IP address do u do so that all vlan u want to have access to the internet do you need to set???

As per my understanding , 1) routed port with ip address connecting to internet link , with default route pointing to nexthop.
2) your users port in respective vlan , nothing else is required for allowing them to access to internet ,
But NAT will be required if your Lan ip not natted on Modem , / what kind of ip you are using on modem link , and for vlan users ?i guesss you could explain in more detail that could help .

WLC 7.4.110.0 where native vlan and SSID vlan is the same vlan

We have app. 1500 accespoints in app. 500 locations. WLCs are WiSM2s running 7.4.110.0. The AP are 1131LAPs.In a FlexConnect configuration we use vlan 410 as native vlan and the ssid (LAN) also in vlan 410. This works fine, never had any problems with this.
Now we have started use 1602 APs and the client connection on ssid LAN becomes unstable.
If we configure an different ssid, using vlan 420 and native vlan as 410, everything works fine.
I can't find any recommandations regarding the use of native vlan/ssid vlan
Is there anyone experiencing similar problems? Is this a problem with my configuration or is it a bug wittin 1602 accespoints?

It is the recomended design to put FlexConnect AP mgt into native vlan & user traffic to a tagged vlan.
From the QoS perspective if you want to enforce WLC QoS profile values, you have to tag SSID traffic to a vlan (other than native vlan) & trust CoS on the switch port connected to FlexConnect AP (usually configured as trunk port)

Try first to get the user size of all LOB column with something like:
SELECT sum(dbms_lob.getlength(XML_DOC_BLOB)/1048576)
FROM IFD.T_XML_LOAD;Then you need to check at least:
1. LOB segment storage parameters like PCTVERSION/RETENTION because undo data for LOB column is stored in LOB segments and not in undo tablespace
2. CHUNK parameter

How many users are there?

Dear forum users,
I am Nancy.
Guess some of you already knew that our group is doing some research analysis about Photoshop and this forum.
I'm just curious, how many registered Photoshop Windows user are out there?
Is there anyone can show me where I can get at least a general idea about the users' size?
I already check the download.com, there are nearly: 14.6 million times until Sep. 15th.
And also, this forum, there are nearly 10,000 threads having been posted in the recent one year.
I really tried everything I can think of.
Still can not figure this out.
Any thought?

Urgent help? for Standalone AP users are not getting ip addresses

Dear friends,
i have Cisco LAP1140 series access points and i wanted to use them as autonomous , so i converted their ios from light weight to autonomous to
c1140-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA image.
my network senario is
CORE SW + Access SW + Access points
Core SW:
act as a dhcp server for wireless user
for WLAN vlan 16 is configured on it
configured dhcp pool here for vlan 16
Access SW:
access points are cooneted with it
and every switch port assign to vlan 16 that is connected to AP
Standalone Access Points:
connected to access switch and have assigned static management IPs from vlan 16 that i have excluded in DHCP Pool in core switch.
configure only one ssid and broadcast
both radio 5ghz and 4.2 ghz are up
i can ping the gateway from each Access point to core switch
but the users can not get the ip address from the ssid that is configured on APs.
below is the attached of configuration of the access point
please review the configuration and advise me where i have mistaken and what i have missing in the configuration?
please reply me ASAP because this is very urdent for me and your reply is very important for me

actually i did not check that and it does make sence too may be problem with DHCP Scope
but you know why i did not check because there is an other scope on the core switch for Data users only the difference
of vlan numbers and names
but that data vlan users are getting ip addresses and connect normally to internet.
did you view the configuration that i attached with my 1st post?
if no please view it and advise me if i have any missing there.
further i ll check for DHCP in the morning to connect my laptop dirct with switch port to is that getting ip address or no.

Dialog 4425 and vlan

We are struggling to get some Ericsson Dialog 4425 ip phone setup with VLANS
I have Ericsson Dialog 4425 ip phone and cisco catalyst 2960 switch
Witout vlan avrything work fine, but I need to setup vlan in the network
Ip phone (vlan x) and user desktop (vlan y) should be in diferent Vlan (user PC is connected on ip phone switch port)
I would like to know
1. if Dialog 4425 can support Voice vlan X like cisco ip phone
switchport access vlan x
switchport voice vlan y
2. Or should I configure specific vlan each ip phone
Network - LAN access control - VLAN for LAN Port x
- VLAN for PC Port y
In the case 2 how should I configure cisco switch ip phone port ?
I case 1 and 2 how should I configure cisco IPBX switch portport ?
