VLC-capture streaming ".ts" file to QuickTime - what are best VLC settings?

I captured a Webcast of a U.S. House Appropriations Committee hearing to disk with VLC (making a ".ts file") but am having trouble working with it. Although VLC will play it fine, QuickTime and MPEG Streamclip (where I hoped to convert it) will not. MPEG Streamclip plays it, but without audio. I've tried various kinds of Streamclip conversions to no avail (and I have Perian and QuickTimeMPEG2.component, which often solve problems). Two questions: Generally speaking, if you can't hear the audio playing it in MPEG Streamclip, is it likely that doing conversions with Streamclip aren't going to help you? And #2, for future reference, what would be the optimal settings in VLC to make a ts file that will be QuickTime-friendly (or at least MPEG Streamclip friendly where I can export or convert to something that QuickTime will accept).
P.S. -- Codecs shown in VLC under Properties are:
Stream 0: MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga)
Stream 1: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv)

Generally speaking, if you can't hear the audio playing it in MPEG Streamclip, is it likely that doing conversions with Streamclip aren't going to help you?
I would normally think not. However, as this is not a normal work flow for me, would you happen to have a short sample clip to play with for testing purposes?
#2, for future reference, what would be the optimal settings in VLC to make a ts file that will be QuickTime-friendly (or at least MPEG Streamclip friendly where I can export or convert to something that QuickTime will accept).
No TS, MTS, or M2TS content is compatible with QT since it only handles program stream files. As to MPEG Streamclip, again this is uncharted territory for me and I would need to run my own tests on a sample file before saying anything definitive.

  • P35 Neo with E6750; what are best frequency settings?

    Hi,
    I have:
    - P35 Neo motherboard
    - E6750 Intel Proc. (2.66 GHz, 1333Mhz FSB)
    - 2x 1GB DDR 800Mhz (configured as dual channel)
There is no OS installed at the moment because I ordered Vista, but the shop seems to have a problem getting it.
I noticed that when booting up, the mobo seems to misread the proc sometimes. The values in the Frequency/Voltage Control section of the BIOS are different each time.
I would like to know what the best manual settings are for these (I am not interested in overclocking, I just want to manually set the values so it always runs the same)
The values I would like to have are for:
    - Adjust CPU FSB Frequency
    - FSB/Memory Ratio
    - Adjust PCI-E Frequency (I have a gecube HD2600Pro 512MB DDR2 installed)
    - CAS# latency
    - RAS# to CAS# delay
    - RAS# precharge
    - RAS# active to prec
are there any other settings I should manually set you think?
    Thanks.

  • What are Best Video Settings format to be used in Encore?

    Hey,
So I have been raking my brain an issue or two I have with Encore.  I am Exporting video files to be used in Encore CS5 and am coming up with mixed results.  I created a 30 sec video and exported it as an .avi, .mov, .m2p all with mixed results.  Once I render a DVD from Encore the Avi is the best results with crisper quality but I loose some quality and all the colors are muted but the blacks are fine.  The M2P is blocky and jump on the footage and the MOV file is close to the M2p file output. I am using footage that is SD 29.97 4:3 format and the settings are correct when I export it.  Also the Menu when it is finished and on a DVD is muted in color as well in comparison to the one I created and imported from Photoshop.  Is there something I am missing that allows the quality to be its best on the menu screen in Encore?  I am transcoding the settings out in Encore as Mpeg2-DVD and I am setting the rest to match my assets that I am importing.  Please any help on these issues would be apprieciated.
    Sincerely,
    Confused

How?  Capture/transfer from camcorder... web download... animation... the dreaded fraps?  What CODEC is your source?
When I used to use NTSC DV AVI type 2 with 48khz as captured (digitized) via Pinnacle Dv500 from a Sony analog 8mm camcorder, the same specification AVI I output after editing in CS3 to give to Encore for authoring looked exactly like the source
Now I have a Canon Vixia HFS100 so copy AVCHD "MTS" files from SD memory to hard drive for editing in CS5, I simply use a DV NTSC Widescreen output setting to create AVI... and the DVD I create with Encore also looks very close to the original

  • What are best exports settings for project that will be shown on large screen?

I'm working in AE CS6 and am preparing a two-minute video using type animations and some still cartoons and some still photography. The client will eventually show it through his computer on a large screen to a group of people. What's the best settings in the render queue to output this so it shows pristinely? I'm thinking a Quicktime movie output as Animation but I really don't know. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Animation Quicktime is NOT the way to go. This codec will only playback in real time reliably on a super computer. You need to pick a good distribution format that will stick around. PICK H.264. Read on...
If by large screen you mean a really big TV then make a standard HD 1920 X 1080 comp at 29.97 fps and render using the Adobe Meida Encoder. You can put your Animation Codec Quicktime in the AME if you like but I think there are better DI formats (Digital Intermediate). Pick h.264 as the format and pick the Vimeo or YouTube HD preset and jack the data rate up to 40 or even 50 and enable Multi Pass rendering. You will have a file that will playback smoothly on any modern system, even from a newer iPad or other tablet.
If you mean a 4K display then use the same technique but create your 4K composition using the standard 4K display size of 3640 X 2160 and use the YouTube 4K preset.
You can jack up the data rate for that preset also but don't go above 50.
This will give you a file that is technically as good or better than you would get with a fiber connection to a 4K broadcast. How the project looks when played back will depend on how good you are at choosing the right techniques for your animation and color grading taking into account the color space you're working in, the gamut of the display, and the motion of animated elements as it relates to frame rate. (Hint: that's why I said to choose 29.97 as the frame rate because animating illustrations and text to look good on a big screen is a lot more difficult at 24 fps than it is at 29.97 and you don't need 60fps because what you gain in the elimination of judder you loose in the addition of compression artifacts when the data rate is the same.)
One last piece of advice. Obsessing about the quality of your playback format to achieve the MAXIMUM result is for the most part a huge waste of time and energy. Get the color right and tell the story well and avoid juddering animations and you'll blow the audience away even at 10 or 12 Mbps HD. 90% of all quality issues in rendered animations that I've seen are issues of design and animation technique, not issues of rendering with the wrong settings.

Basically your player is telling you that you need to install the codecs that will play the compressed data within the AVI file.
AVI is a legacy file container in which the tracks of data are interleaved to maintain synchronization. This data can be encoded using many different audio and video codecs. Your problem is to determine which codecs you need for the player you are trying to use and install them if they are available. Failing that, your will either have to play the files in a different player which has the codec support your require built into the app or convert the content to a compression format that is natively compatible with the player you wish to use.
Since you have not stated what platform, operating system, and particular player you are targeting for playback, it is difficult to provide precise instructions for fixing your specific problem at this point. Suggest you try alternative players compatible with your system and platform to see if they will play the files, use a dedicated media information utility to determine the codecs needed for playback, or post a sample file for analysis.

Maybe this is something you already did, maybe not.
You need to manually add "DCE" to the list of "Installed Libraries" in the
properties dialog of the NT-node (using E-Console).
Of course, don't forget to export your target environment and re-import it
    in your development environment.

We have an odd problem. We have 2 partitions that when we do initial
partitioning are placed on our Unix node but we need to move them to our NT
node. For some reason forte will not allow us to move these particular
partitions. They need to have the DCE thread package to be able to move
them to the NT node but we can't seem to find any way to give them that
thread package. Any suggestions, documentation anything would be greatly
appreciated. We are due to deploy this application on Monday and are unable
to do anything until we can get these partitions moved. We have been able
to move them in the past but it seems to have been a fluke. We have not
found any identifiable pattern of what has allowed us to move these
    partitions.

  • Apple TV: what are the specific settings I should adjust to?

    Hi, there
I really need your help now. I use a DVD ripper to rip DVD to MP4 for Apple TV. I am trying to achieve quality that is close to a movie (m4v) from iTunes. What are the best settings to get this type of quality? I am not concerned with output file size, and I just want to get the very best quality I can. If so, what are the specific settings I should adjust to? The program I am using allows me to adjust video and audio parameters as below:
    Video parameters:
    Codec: h.264
    Resolution: 1280*720
Bit rate: ??? (it is said Up to 5 Mbps, but what is the specific bit rate?)
    Frame rate: 24 fps
    Audio parameters:
    Codec: aac
    Sample rate: ???
Bit rate: ??? it is said 16 to 320 Kbps, but what’s the specific figure?
Audio channel: mono, stereo and 5.1 channel, which one should I choose?
Following are the tech specifications I copied from Apple’s official website:
    Video formats supported
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
    Audio formats supported
AAC (16 to 320 Kbps); protected AAC (from iTunes Store); MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps); MP3 VBR; Apple Lossless; AIFF; WAV; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound pass-through
And I have selected some parameters according to this, please see the above contents, but there is no info about specific video/audio bit rate, audio sample rate, and audio channel. I just wanna know if I want to watch the movie on my 1920×1080 TV, what are the specific settings I should adjust to?
Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, then how about playback Apple TV uncompatible video files? I have some other video files(such as avi, mkv,not DVD), and I also have a video converter, i know i can convert them to m4v, mp4, or mov that supported by ATV,but the thing is that i still don't know the best specific settings for conversion. Any suggestion? Many thanks for your kind reply.

  • What are best practices for managing my iphone from both work and home computers?

What are best practices for managing my iphone from both work and home computers?

    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans withiTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entires and import the local content you have on that box.

What are the security settings to lock down a form with fillable fields and yet allow someone with Reader to fill in the fields as will as save the form and print it?

You want to allow someone to open your document and fill out the form (in the fields you have created), but not change or edit the form, right? Here's the answer - assuming you are using Acrobat Pro and someone will be opening the PDF using at least Acrobat Reader 9 and up:
Tools > Protection > Encrypt < Encrypt with Password
Answer YES to change the security.
    A new window opens:
Do NOT select Document Open (or that will require a password to open the document.)
Select: Permissions (Check the box next to "Restrict editing and printing of the document.")
Change the following 2 settings from the drop-down box:
              Printing Allowed: Select High Resolution
Changes Allowed: Select Commenting, filling in form fields, and signing signature fields
Leave selected: "Enable text access for screen reader devices for the visually impaired"
Change Permissions Password (insert a strong password)
Leave all other settings alone in "Options"
              OK - OK
Re-enter the Permissions Password (the one you entered above)
              OK - OK
Save the PDF to apply the security [notice that (SECURED0 will appear after the document title]

  • What are the normal settings to connect to wifi?

I visited my friend over the weekend and her school required me to change my airport settings in order to connect to the internet. Ever since I got back, I have been unable to connect to my usual wifi source. If I can, it drops off after a few minutes. What are the normal settings to connect to wifi?

As a minimum, the following would be the "normal settings" to connect your Mac to an unsecured Wi-Fi network. These settings can all be found in System Preferences > Network > AirPort or Wi-Fi > Advanced
TCP/IP tab: Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
Proxies tab: Nothing should be checked on this tab, except the "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" option.
    Hardware tab: Configure: Manually
On the Wi-Fi tab, you may also want to delete any Preferred Networks that you are not using.

    There are 2 cases,
u want details of certificate send by vendor
u want to record results and see inspection lot wise results.
    case1
depending upon the certificate selected by u, system will give u warning or error msg for certificate confirmation at the time of gr. for confirmation QC51 t_code is used. here status has to be changed to 'filed and inspected' then gr will be allowed.

  • What are the ideal settings for my TC with Shaw's Cisco DPC3825 router/modem

My old 2nd Gen Time Capsule crapped out and now I am about to set up my new 2TB TC.  My provider is Shaw Communications and they have upgraded me to their Broadband 100 Mbps service.  This came with a new modem/router combo made by Cisco and is model DPC3825.  Before I start plugging things in I'd like to know what are the ideal settings such that I gain the most of the BB100 service.  Should I be setting the Cisco modem/router to Bridge mode or the TC?  Should I have Shaw disable anything?  Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Unless you specifically need to have the TC perform as the main router for your network, life will be a lot easier if you configure the TC to operate in Bridge Mode.
Whether the Cisco modem/router or gateway can possibly be configured to act as a simple bridge mode modem is one thing to consider.
Whether Shaw would support you in the event of any connection difficulties with the modem/router configured this way is another.
Since Shaw is your provider, it might make sense to talk with them about best practice as far as configuring the DPC3825.
Once you have that information in hand, you will then have the answer on how best to configure the TC.....which will very likely be in Bridge Mode.

It would be most helpful to list what the best possible settings are.

I suggest filming in 30P with this camera. That should be the MXP setting.
You could also use 30i which would be the FXP setting.
You will get the best results in iMovie by shooting progressive.
