[vlc] completely black interface

Hey guys,
I just installed vlc from extra (currently 1.0.5-2), and my interface is all black. Has this happened to any of you? Any clue on what's the problem?
What information do you need to help me?

Try changing video in ...TOOLS...PREFERENCES ...perhaps ...

I do know how to make a custom button, but I'm still struggling on this! I got the Parts from an application use at the moment called Pixelmator. Does anyone have an idea on how to help me?

Hi Harry, and welcome to the Dev Forum!
I'm not sure I understand your objective yet. Are you (1) looking for someone to help design your interface? Or (2) are you a designer looking for a programmer?
If 1, I don't know what a black interface is except that some screen designs are black interfaces and others aren't. I imagine you'd get a more helpful response on this subject at one of the many designer forums, maybe starting with one of the Pixelmator forums [http://www.pixelmator.com/support>. (That said, if you just need an iPhone app that produces a completely black screen, I've built several of them and would be happy to explain how it's done).
If 2, there are a number of experienced developers here who might be looking for an opportunity to collaborate with a good designer, but in that case I think it's up to you to provide some contact info, e.g. add an e-mail or web addy to your forum profile. Besides other developer forums like this one, there are also sites that specialize in putting dreamers, designers and entrepreneurs together with programmers. You can find these by typing something like "<platform name> developers partners freelance" into Google.

ITunes starts up completely black

Whenever I load iTunes (7.4.3.1) on Windows Vista Ultimate, when the program starts, the iTunes interface is completely black. When I click on something, such as a song in my library or a button, that part is no longer black, and if I minimize it and re-maximize it, it is no longer black, but it starting that way is a problem.
Any ideas?

Same issue, same screen. I've tried switching to 16bit, but that doesn't help, so I've put it back to 32bit.
Reinstalling, alt+tab out of/into iTunes doesn't work either.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I open my browser, the web page area is completely black and the menu area is empty, how can I fix this?

When I open firefox, nothing shows up but an empty browser. The web area is completely black and if I right click to open up the little menu, that is also black. The top of the browser is empty and none of the menu buttons appear, none of my bookmarks appear, and none of the search bars or anything appear. Firefox was working fine and then the next time I started my laptop up this is what I experienced. There is absolutely nothing I can do in Firefox. If I right click the top menu area, the smaller menu is completely black but if I click around in it I can see it adding and removing my toolbars and such but I still cannot see anything besides black space and empty space.

hello, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem.

in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode '''by pressing the shift key while the application is launching''' & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

I dropped my iPhone 5 and the screen is completely black and when i plug it into my computer it constantly beeps. When I call it it doesn't go straight to voicemail but my phone doesn't ring. Rebooting it doesn't work. What is the problem?

My screen has been cracked for a while now and today I dropped it and parts of the screen on top came off and the phone went completely black. I tried calling it and it rings as usual on the line but my iphone doesn't make any sound. I just plugged in my phone to my macbook and i am still able to import pictures and send imessages but while it's plugged in my phone constantly beeps..the same beeping as it does when its on the charger but it's just one beep every couple seconds. People have been telling me it could be the LCD..any thoughts?

If you don't know whether you have AppleCare+, you can find out warranty information by entering the serial number at http://selfsolve.apple.com. The serial number can be found under Settings > General > About > Serial Number, if you are still able to use the phone. If not, eject the SIM card tray from the right side of the phone using a paper clip or SIM unlock tool. It is in very tiny print on the rim of the tray.
You cannot purchase AppleCare+ if it's been after 30 days or the phone has already been damaged like yours.

My bb Z10 just went completely blacked while i was using it this afternoon. It had above 70%charge while i was using it. i removed the battery and checked again a number of times. I even tried with another z10 battery properly working and found that its not a problem with my battery since the phone worked well with my battery in the other device.
Since i bought the phone from another country and cant get the service here in India (the phone is still in the warranty period) I m confused what to do.
It would be really useful if I could figure out whether its software or hardware failure. If its a hardware prob, i should ship the device for warranty time benefits of service.But it it where a software prob, i could find out someway to solve this somehow here in India.

try this,
connect the device to BlackBerry link.by connecting it the conputer using USB cable(you can use your USB charger here)
then while the device is still connected to the computer do not remove the USB but remove the battery.
if BlackBerry link will be able to detect the device you can perform a back up(to keep the data of the device) then update the device. you need internet connection.
this should fix the issue if the problem is with the software

A google search shows others have had this problem, but I have not seen a solution posted.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat, without help. I'm wondering if this is a registry problem.
I saw some post that referred to a stuck switch of print colors as black, but I know nothing about this.

I am using a Mac (all software latest version - Mt. Lion and Safari as web browser). I see this exact problem but NOT with all PDFs. As you might not know, PDF creation is built-into all Macs and I do NOT have a problem with any of those, nor has anyone complained to me about those. Also, Macs have a bulit-in PDF viewer ("Preview") which also can NOT view the file correctly. If I try to open the file once it has been stored on the desktop, Acrobat gives me an "incorrectly formatted PDF file" error.
My AMEX statement is unprintable and some other stuff that comes from our local school board, and other online sources. (My suspicion is that these files are not perfectly formatted).
Here was my work-around:
I use FIREFOX browser to retrieve the same PDF and it prints fine.
I, too, would LOVE to know why this is happening because it is annoying.

Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick. I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally. I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again. I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time. Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black. I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]

I got a popup for an update to Firefox, which I followed to the release notes. I read and downloaded the update. When I restarted Firefox, nothing is working correctly and most pages I try to open, including the Add-On manager displays completely black. I can't access Top Sites, etc. My browser seems completely screwed. It's acting very strangely and I've never had a problem like this before with your browser. HELP!

As Pat said, which PDF Convertor are you reffereing to here? Which adobe application are you using for the same? What's the operating system that you are using?

I just downloaded the recent Maverick Software Update onto my Macbook Pro 15" and when the download/reset finished, my screen was completely black and I have not been able to get it back since. Help?

My computer had been wanting to do a software update, with what I believe was the Mavericks Software, for a few weeks but I had been putting it off. When I finally decided to install the update onto my Macbook Pro 15" today, my screen went completely black and I haven't been able to get it back since. The computer still turns on, I can tell because my caps lock key still glows when I press it and my volume buttons still make sounds when I press them. However, I cannot see anything on the screen. I don't even get the grey start up screen when I reset my computer. I have tried the SafeMode Restart where you hold Shift while it is restarting and the Display Reset in which you hold Command + Option (alt) + R + P until you hear the start up noise twice, and neither have worked. Any other advice on what I can do to get my screen back without having to send my computer away to be fixed?

Phone stuck in recovery mode complete black screen will not turn on after recovery and update there was an error and now computer and itunes will not recognize the phone....Anyone know what I can do to get the phone recognized again when it cant be turned

Phone was not updated on time so it automatically shuts off and you get a plain black screen until it is recovered and updated. Well when i did the update and recovery I received an error. I went through the steps to fix the error, I had to restart my computer and now the phone isnt recognized on my computer or in itunes. The screen is still completely black so pushing the home button and plugging in to computer still does nothing. Device manager shows nothing in usb port, and apple mobile device software is installed and running. Any help?

I made a path and saved it and when I try to select it, it turns my stage completely black? Can anyone help me?

As my question says, I am cropping out a figure exactly how I usually do it and for some reason this time it is not working. I made points with the pen tool and then moved it around with the direct selection tool (light grey pointer) and everything worked fine. I then saved the path and usually you just hold down control and click on the picture of the path next to the name and it selects it for you (marching ants) and then I select the inverse and delete the background. This time for some reason when I control and click on the image of the path, it just turns the stage completely black. When I undo it goes back to normal but everytime I try, the same thing happens. I am using Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64-Bit) By the way

Can you show some screen captures. Ctrl+Click on a Path in the path palette should make a section from the combined path. Have your tried resetting you Photoshop preferences.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
