VM in state Shutting down forever

After a Live Migration one of my VMs was frozen. Manager still showed it as running. I chose "Power Off" for that VM in Manager and now it is stuck in state "Shutting down". I rebooted the server this VM was running on and restarted the manager but nothing worked. I cannot remove it from the manager because all buttons are inactive. Any ideas?

I checked and restarted the data collector. I also restarted the VM. Now the checker logs:

  • When asking to view statements in online bills--firefox continuously runs a blank tab that is added to my downloads and I cannot stop it without shutting down the computer?

I use Firefox for all our online bill statements. When I go to my Charter One bank account and press view e-statements, firefox does not view these statements, it has started to show pages that are blank and the tab is say charterone.com....dafault/???????(not
sure what is after default) After shutting down and restarting, my downloads are loaded with these blank pages that I've been deleting--hundreds of these. How do I stop this from happening every time I want to view my account statements?

  • All design programs running extremely slow and takes forever to save and sometimes shuts down randomly?

Ok so  I'm a design student at a community college (about to graduate soon and will be continuing on getting my BFA) I have all of the creative cloud suite. I have Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, etc. Recently I started having problems with all of the programs. Whenever I work in the programs they would run extremely slow. Recently, I tried to save a .eps file that was only about 1.2 GB and it took me an hour to save, and this was when I was working off of my computer desktop. When I place the .eps file in Indesign, everything would go blank and it would freeze up. Also I had an error sign popping up from InDesign saying "out of memory". Im not sure if that is related to my computer's hard drive or indesign itself. I just started using creative suite so the creative suite is pretty new to me. Sometimes in Indesign when I do the Command+w to preview the whole project, it would be completely black and showing nothing and I would hit escape and the whole software screws up. Then I would do a force quit on the software and then Indesign would say there was a serious error and must shut down. That error message has been popping up several times now. I also talked to Apple support and they suggested me doing a Repair disk utility (which I am currently doing right now) and also recommended me contacting Adobe since they know their software. I checked software to see if there is any updates that is needed but everything is up to date. I'm not quite sure why its acting like this so I'm reaching out both to Apple and Adobe to see if both can help me solve the problem. If anybody had experienced this problem before and could help me troubleshoot this issue that would be great.

I installed the creative suite about a year ago, and this just started happening last weekend. I didn't think it would be a problem and that it would last for a day since I was working on InDesign all day and Illustrator and it usually goes away after I finish using the programs. But this has been occurring for about a week now and has not gone away. and yes the other programs are running slow. I was trying to resize some images for a client and Photoshop was acting extremely slow  when I was trying to resize the image and also place an image into a 8x10 document in Photoshop. I'm not sure how to find my system specifications.

For about the past week, Facebook has been taking forever to load (or just doesn't) on my mac (OSX 10.5.8; Safari 5.0.6).  Other sites are fine.  I routinely empty the cache, clear history, cookies, etc. each time I shut down.  Suggestions?

I don't use Facebook, but I can say that clearing the cache every time you shut down is excessive - unless you're sure the cache is corrupt you should leave it alone.  It exists to speed up your browsing experience by loading frequently requested items from your drive rather than downloading them fresh from the internet each time.  So, I would say stop clearing your cache and see what happens.
As for clearing cookies: I'm not sure what method you currently use, but I would recommend you download and install CCleaner.  It's free, and allows you to build up a list of cookies that you want to clear and those you want to keep, before deleting them.
Both of these may help speed things up by reducing the amount of work Safari has to perform whilst browsing.  Regardless, I'd say that, unless there's a reason you've not mentioned for performing the "purging" that you do, making these two changes should see improvements in general web browsing if not specifically when loading Facebook.

  • T440 - solid state drives and sleep mode, shutting down, etc.

First time with a solid state drive.  With my T61, i tend not to actually shut it down unless i really need to.  I just leave it on, close it, and let it go into sleep mode - which i can tell its in because of the moon icon/light.  if i just need to move it around the house, i also only put it in sleep mode.  If I take it somewhere of course I shut it down first.  But that's always a pain, I tend to have multiple browser windows open with many, many tabs.  I just hate having to book mark it all (even using bookmark all tabs) then opening them all up again.
    So, I'm wondering
    1) there doesn't seem to be any light to indicate that its in sleep mode - but maybe it doesn't exist in the same way with a SSD? I was always under the impression that the point of that was to make sure the moving parts of the drive had stopped before you moved the laptop.
    2) is it still ok for me to just leave it on most of the time like I do with my T61?
    3) Can I get away with not shutting it down when I take it someplace?  Other than the battery running down - why would that be a problem since it doesn't have a spinning hard drive?
    4) Windows 8, ok this is really a different topic, but I'm here already.  When you shut it down, if for example, you have a bunch of browser windows and tabs open and maybe a couple of word docs - when its started back up, will it automatically open all that?  Or do i have to re-open all the windows, find the word files, etc.?
    5) Anything else I should know about a SSD or windows 8 that is significantly different from what i've had with my T61?  (other than the logo being upside down on the top cover)

    Hi again,
    1. The red dot over the i in ThinkPad will pulse slowly when your machine is in sleep mode.
    2. Yes, absolutely. I use sleep instead of shut down almost exclusively on all machines I use
    on a daily basis.
    3. Same as before, you don't have to worry about doing anything different. The machine won't
run out of battery during sleep mode for days.
    4. It doesn't matter wether you run Windows 7 or 8, you use your browser settings to set it to
open the tabs where you left off.
In Internet Explorer -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Startup -> Start with tabs from the last session.
In Chrome -> Settings -> On Start Up - Continue where you left off.
Same option is available for Firefox too.
But if you shut your machine down, your programs won't start up automatically with the files you had open
before shutdown, but I'm sure you meant to say sleep, right? When you resume from sleep, everything you
had open will be right there.
    5. No, not really. It's just a new generation of a ThinkPad workhorse with a new version of Windows, you
don't have to change any of your daily routines you've gotten used to.
    Cheers,
    Atli Jarl.

  • I installed Canon software on my macpro laptop and it takes forever to startup and shut down

Hello.  I recently got a Canon Rebel T3 and in order to download photos to my macbook pro I had to install their software.  Well, after installing it, it takes VERY long to shut down and start up my laptop.  Can someone help?  I already deleted the software off the laptop, but that hasn't seem to fix the issue.

"... I already deleted the software off the laptop, but that hasn't seem to fix the issue."
I doubt that the software was the issue. So why not tell us what model MBP you have and how much free space is on the hard drive. When was the last time you booted to the OS installer disk and run Repair Disk from Disk Utility? BTW, you may not need their software to download pictures to your Mac. Launch iPhoto and from the menu: iPhoto>Preferences>General: Connecting Camera Opens.....

  • IPhone reboots or shuts down or states low battery....2

I did yet another restore for month long symptom now. Once again I discover I lost my MMS camera icon in texting. My phone shuts down or reboot with low charge. I shut it off or leave it off only to turn it on again an hour later and have it show more than 70% charged.
I am still 5 months away before my contract expires and I plan to upgrade to the new generation of iPhone. I don't really have the money to take it in as I found out I am being laid off in five months as the company is leaving California for Arkansas.
    Anyone else experiencing similar symptoms?

My 3G will also spontaneously reboot. Typically, this seems to happen when the battery level goes below around 50%. The screen will go dark and I'll get the swirling circular graphic that indicates the phone is shutting down. Then the Apple logo comes on, and it seems to take a very long time before the phone is functional again. I took the phone to an Apple store in April. A "Genius" connected it to an iMac and ran, what I suppose, was Apple diagnostic software. She pronounced it OK, both phone and battery. She suggested I restore the phone. I did. No change. It stills crashes. It seems to happen when I'm using the phone, not just using an App. However, it has crashed when I've tried to use the camera also.

  • Non -golbal zone in the shutting down state

    Hi All ,
I had a non-golbal zone which has been hangs state ( shuting down and down sate ) . I had tried at the golbal zone issue the zoneadm -z myzone boot and zoneadm -z my zone halt but still unavialable to bring it up . Do anyone has a soultion for this .
    Many thanks

    Hello
Most of the times the problem is because a FS can't be umounted or there is some process that avoid the zone to go down, so please check this doc and try to check if there is some process or mount point that avoid the zone to go down
Can't reboot local zone with status shutting_down or down (Doc ID 1493610.1)
If you can't stop the zone in the end you will have to reboot the GZ, if you have to do it, please stop the others NGZ and run reboot -d to gather a vmdump, then with all information raise an SR so that we will check.

  • T500 takes forever to shut down

Hello,I have a T500 laptop (Thinkpad 2082.BSG), and I recently had it serviced after which the factory stettings were reinstalled. However, for some reason it now takes a lot of time to shut down (sometimes about 10 minutes). I have been given the advice that I probably should turn off some of the services. But which services? Can someone help me?Regards, bostjanv

    Hi Bostjanv,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
Then I think the windows startup is having more file in it. Did you check with booting the system into “Safe mode” option?
You can also check with performing system clean boot, click here to get the procedure.
    Hope this helps.

  • My 4th gen iPod won't turn on, just plays the shutting down screen forever

I have a 4th gen ipod, 8gb, and it hasn't really given me problems until the past few days, it's been crashing constantly and freezing. Now it has shut down and when I turn it on it is just stuck on the shutting down screen. I've tried holding down home and power, it shuts off, then just turns right back on and does the same thing. I drained the battery, and it showed the normal screen for being dead, then when I plug it in, it starts up with the shut down screen again. Something similar happened to one of my friends so she just wrote it off as being "completely dead" and gave up. (But I don't want to just give it up because basically my only pictures of my cat that passed away are on it, and I don't have iCloud) Also, I thought maybe it was because my version was 5.1.1, I never updated because I didn't want the youtube app to be gone. Is there anything left I can try or is it completely done for?

I had the exact same problem with my ipod and the way i got out of it was i connected it to my pc - mac works too.- then when it turn on i held only the power button for about 10-60 seconds until it finally shutoff then i basically put it in dfu mode ( if you don't already know what it is and how to do it i will explain that after) and my pc recconized it in dfu mode and after waiting about 5 min unplug from your pc or mac and if it doesnt already show the power screen on then turn it on and it should work if it just goes to recovery mode then repeat the steps for putting it in dfu mode just without pluging it in.
Here's how to put it in DFU mode. First just hold the power and home screen botton for 10 seconds or until you see it flash. Next you let go of the HOME BOTTON ONLY while still holding the power botton down for a good 20-25 seconds then you can let go and your done!   *Note: if you have it plug in to a pc or mac you will also see something saying your pc/mac is recognizing your ipod in DFU mode.
Hope it helps with your problem! (^∇^)
