VM's state Off-Critical
Hello,
I have an issue with my Hyper-V lab.
I have disconnected my hard drives from the motherboard due to some other issues I had at the time, and now, after reconnecting the drives to the mobo, powering on the station and launching Hyper-V, all my VM's (4 in total) are shown as Off-critical.
If I try to power on a VM, I get the following error:
Failed to lock virtual machine's configuration "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\VirtualMachines\386F7A11-991F-4859-934A-A7732CC4519C.xml": 'Unspecified error"(0x80004005)
I must mention that my virtual hard disks and VM Configuration Files are on a second drive than the one where the C:\ partition is, and where, of course Hyper-V is installed.
My OS is Windows Server 2012 Datacenter Evaluation, build 9200.
Does anybody have any idea why this happened, and what I can do to get my VM's back?
Thank so much for your input and help!
Most likely the drive did not mount properly in the OS. Or the drive letter changed, or the GUID mount point changed.
Be sure that your drives are online, in the same location. And then restart the Virtual Machine Management Service service.
It sounds as if you did not shut down your VMs before doing this.
The C:\ reference is a virtual pointer to the actual configuration file.

Hi,
I had created one BPEL process which reads from FTP Remote server and writes to local file directory.
After reading from Remote FTP server I am deleting file from the server. In the remote server I had created on user to interact with FTP server with all permissions. When the BPEL process executed FTP Adapter is deleting the File successfully from remote location but BPEL state is changed to “Off”.
When I checked the logs, I found there is problem with Delete permission. Actually as mentioned above file is deleted successfully in the remote location.
OPMN logs:

Thanks,
VidyaHi SR,
You can do this by having a BPEL process with a java embedding containing below code.
* Input Variables
String processName = (String)getVariableData("processName");
String revision = (String)getVariableData("revision");
* Declare variables.
IBPELProcessHandle procHandle = null;
Locator loc = null;
BPELProcessMetaData bpelProcessMetadata = null;
try{
* get Locator Instance
loc = getLocator();
* Lookup Process. Revision optional.
if(revision == null || revision.trim().equals(""))
procHandle = loc.lookupProcess( processName );
else
procHandle = loc.lookupProcess(processName, revision);
if(procHandle == null)
throw new Exception("Unable to find process: " + processName);
* Get Metadata of the process.
bpelProcessMetadata = procHandle.getMetaData();
* Set Lifecycle to Retired.
* Use setState(IBPELProcessConstants.STATE_OFF) to change process state to off.
bpelProcessMetadata.setLifecycle(IBPELProcessConstants.LIFECYCLE_RETIRED);
* Finally update the process with the modified metadata.
procHandle.updateMetaData(bpelProcessMetadata);
}catch (Exception e)
addAuditTrailEntry(e);
}If you want you can schedule this process.

Virtual machine state : Paused-Critical
Hello,
I'm testing Hyper-V and three virtual machines (512MB of allocated memory) on 2GB of physical memory.
It has run during some hours but suddently, all VM switched to "paused-critical" state. What's the reason? Is it a problem of memory? I know I'm pushing the computer limits but when I turned off one of the VM, I was able to start the others. The machines have run during few seconds and switched again to the "paused-critical" status.
ChrisIn my case it is the Core Server - Hyper-V partition which ran out of space. I thought I was being generous with a 40GB partition for what was supposed to be a very light footprint OS option. I'll have to get a closer look, because that just doesn't seem right.
Thanks for specifying what that 'State' information indicates. This information is NOT available via the Hyper-V Manager Help section using either "Paused-Critical" or "State" as search terms. It would be greatly helpful to add that to the Help section. -
Yoga 11 Secure Boot State Off - How to enable it?
Hi all, first of all I would like to provide you with some background information. I purchased (in Germany) 2 identical Yoga 11 machines (MAS29GE). Both had display ghosting issues and one of them had a lose trackpad. So, I sent them in for repair.
After getting back the 2nd one as well, I wanted to see whether the BIOS versions are identical on them, since the repair report said that there was a BIOS update performed on both machines. The BIOS version seems to be the very same I had before sending them in: v1.2.58, 05.12.2012
But then I noticed something strange: on one of the Yogas the Secure Boot State is Off. I checked it also with PowerShell and it shows False, meaning disabled.
So, I called Lenovo support, but they weren't able to help me. The answer was that I cannot enter the BIOS to change this.
However, I suspect that either the technicians entered the BIOS and forgot to enable secure boot later on, or something else messed it up. What I also noticed after receiving the Yogas back from repair is that the "Advanced Startup" in
Windows shows more options on one machne than the other. Please, see the below images for details:

I did 2x System restores already (1x quick, 1x secure), but the Secure Boot State did not change (this was to be expected since this settings is in the UEFI BIOS and not in Windows - nevertheless, was worth a try).
As I read in other comments, Microsoft did not intend users to enter the BIOS on Windows RT machines.
Please, note that I did not "Jailbreak" the system, for 1) I have no idea how to do it and 2) I don't intend to hack it. One reason why I bought Windows RT because I wanted to keep legacy x86 viruses out of the system.
So, what do you suggest? I really do not wish to send the machine back for another 2 weeks only for 1 single change in the BIOS. Please, help! Thanks!

Solved!
Go to Solution.Hello,
As far as I know, you are the only individual I have ever heard of who has received a Windows RT-based computer with the Secure Boot option disabled.
Because of this, I am not certain what steps you would take to (re)enable this functionality on the device.
What I would suggest you do is perhaps post a message on the Windows 8, RT Development and Hacking forum over at XDA-Developers, and perhaps one of the members over there can make some suggestions.

File Adapter Polling issue(Is there critical value of File size )?
Hi
I use File adapter as the Activation to initialize a BPEL process instance .The source data is a kind of Delimited file format.On my PC, when the file size is less than 4M ,everything works fine ,But when the size increased. The BPEL process will not initialize the instance.When the source data is XML data , the "critical value " is about 12M. The error msg is below.

how can i solve this problem?can i predeploy some parameter? Is there some critical value of File size for the processing of File Adapter ?Hi,
There is no specific parameters to specify the maximum file size to be read in. It is just limited by the heap size of the JVM running the BPEL engine.
If you have enough RAM on your machine you can change the current heap size from 512Mbyte to 1Go by editing the startorabpel.bat file
and modifying the line :
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m -Xmx512m -Xmn300m -XX:MaxPermSize=80m
to
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m -Xmx1024m -Xmn300m -XX:MaxPermSize=80m
But only do it if you have at least 1.5 Gb of RAM on your machine, otherwise ot will keep spawing and you will have very bad performance.
Speaking about performance, do you really need to have a BPEL payload of 4 to 12 Mb ?
Will the BPEL process really need to access it ? if so, the best solution would be using batching techniques to cut you file in pieces and process it piece by peice.

If you look at the DEV_w0 log you can see the work process are not comming you as they are not getting enough shared memory see this error message
" Can't find free space for Shared Memory (Size=720000 KB) "
Please review the parameter changes made by you in Instance profile before restart of instace. Check the values of these parameters and if you are not sure of the value changed by you undo the parameter changes made before the instace restart
Restart the instance again after these changes in instance profile. for now you can change the instace profile file from OS but don't forget to import this changed profile when instace is up
if you did not changed any Profile parameters, check the physical memory available. chance could you some hardware memory issue. get your os team to check.
Its a clear case of memory issue ..

I do my banking online, and have previously been able to print my statements off the website. Since the last update, although the page shows in the browser as normal, the option to print from the drop-down file menu is greyed out and I cannot print anything, even if I try and select a portion. It is not a problem with the website as I can print without a problem in another browser program. This problem has now persisted for quite a while with no resolution over time. How do I get Firefox to allow print from a secure website (I assume that is the problem?) It occurs with more than one secure site (two different banks)
I have the same problem... not being able to print website 'Print' pages. I have read carefully the above link and have followed the reset directions in about:config, but I still cannot print in Firefox. Both Google Chrome and IE work perfectly every time. I have verified that the correct printer is selected and that the margins are in order (0.5 all around happen to be what mine are set for). I have resorted to use the Firefox Add On "View this Page in IE" whenever I need to print something. Works like a charm, but come on... it should work in Firefox too! I know there is some setting or something, but the Problems_printing_web_pages link had nothing there that worked for me.

DpJ2eeEmergencyShutdown: j2ee state = SHUTDOWN - how to make it STARTED
Hi,
I have an ABAP+Java SAP ERP 2005 server.
After having made a Java Add-in installation w/o success, I stoped the installation.
Now in this server, process Dispatcher is always in yellow with status "Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec, J2EE status info unavailable".
How can I fix this error to make J2EE started?

Unfortunately, I cannot find section "6.8.2.3 Deleting the Java Part of an SAP System" as you said.
All docs that I've just downloaded only have sections 6.8 & sub 6.8.1 as following:
- 6.8 Deleting an SAP System
+ 6.8.1 Running SAPinst to Delete an SAP System
Docs browsed are:
- Installation Guide - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR2 <b>ABAP+Java</b> / <b>Java</b> / <b>ABAP</b> on Windows - MS SQL Server
- Installation Guide - SAP SAP ERP 2005 SR2 <b>ABAP+Java</b> / <b>Java</b> / <b>ABAP </b>on Windows - MS SQL Server
So please show me the way to get the correct ones or send me via [email protected]
You answer is considered helpful.
Thanks,

Multiple statements from one connection causes ORA-0100 Maximum open cursor
HI,
I am creating a connection and trying to run 2 statements off the connection. The connection has autocommit as false as I want to commit only after the second statement commits successfully. Upon executing the second statement, I get the ORAC-0100: Maximum open cursor error. I have verified that I have closed all the Preparedstatement and ResultSet in the first statement.
My code looks like this:
Connection myConn = DriverManager.getConnection(jdbc:oracle:thin:.....); myConn.setAutoCommmit(false); Savepoint sp = myConn.setSavePoint("save1"); PreparedStatement pstmt = myConn.prepareStatement(...) ResultSet rs = pstmt.executeQuery(); while (rs.next()){ ..... } rs.close(); pstmt.close(); rs=null; pstmt=null; Statement stmt2 = myConn.createStatement(); sql="DELETE FROM TempTable..."; stmt2.executeUpdate(sql);
I put a breakpoint just before stmt.executeUpdate and verified the open cursor are below the threshold. And as soon as I execute stmt2.executeUpdate,I get the maximum cursor error. Also, I noticed that the number of open cursors jumps to the limit after stmt2.executeUpdate(sql) as verified by the following sql
select s.sid, s.username, a.value from v$sesstat a, v$statname b, v$session s where a.statistic# = b.statistic# and s.sid=a.sid and b.name = 'opened cursors current' and s.username = 'user_name';
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way to execute multiple statements using the same connection and commiting only after the last statement has executed successfully?I believe you need to close your connection via myConn.close() as follows:
PreparedStatement pstmt=null;
ResultSet rs=null;
Connection myConn=null;
try{
myConn= //put code to get connection in this statement here
pstmt = myConn.prepareStatement(...)
rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
while (rs.next()){
}finally{
if(rs!=null)
rs.close();
if(pstmt!=null)
pstmt.close();
if(myConn!=null)
myConn.close();

Auto update stats disabled for a user Database in Sql server
While trying to improve the performance of few queries, we found via execution plan that there were lot of Index/Clustered index seeks. Therefore:
First thing we did, was to check our Re-indexing and update stats job which runs weekly for this user DB ( Around 400 GB in size and is used 24*5). The job was running fine.
Later when we ran SP_Blitz, we came to know that auto-update-stats is disabled for this user DB. We expected this to be a possible cause and change it from false to TRUE(Auto update stats)
Also, per SP_blitz there are user-created statistics for this DB. When ran the query to check how many, we saw around 7K user stats out there.
So my question would be 1) setting the Auto update stats to TRUE would require a reboot or once changed i need to track the performance and 2) Should we consider dropping those user created stats or manually look into them one by one.
How should we proceed on this, please suggest, thanks!There may be good reasons for having auto-stats off, but those cases are not very common. It makes a little more sense to turn if off on table level. An example of the latter is a relatively small table, say < 100000 rows where not many new rows are added,
but the existing rows are being updated frequently. This will trigger autostats, but probably without much benefit.
But if you have a system which is very busy during peak times, you may not want autostats take resources during those hours. But if you turn off autostats, you will need to make sure that stats are updated in some other fashion.
Here is a query that you can use review when your statistics last were updated:
SELECT o.name, s.name, stats_date(o.object_id, s.stats_id) AS lastupdated
FROM sys.objects o
JOIN sys.stats s ON s.object_id = o.object_id
--WHERE s.user_created = 1
ORDER BY lastupdated
7000 user-created statistics sounds a little excessive, but I guess they were added to compensate for the autostats that SQL Server were not permitted to create. I would not recommend dropping these statistics, as SQL Server would spend cycles on recreating
them.
You should not have to restart SQL Server for the Auto-update stats setting to take effect; it takes effect immediately.

One of our customers starts to encounter this error message recently.
We checked our log files. It seems that the error happens when

Joe,
We got the exact same error message. The error came after we got theJDBC connection,
and trying to create statement off it.
It occurs intermitently when we are running another standalone JAVAapp to do
some end of day work, which results in the DB Server being very busy(90+%CPU
usage) for about 5 minutes. We see a surge of requests to the WLSJDBC Connection
pool. This would sometimes result in all our subsequent DB requeststo fail and
lead to a crash.
We are using WLS6.0SP1. I do not think there's a 30 seconds wait leadingto a
connection timeout that caused this(rather it is the end effect).
Can you give us a more detailed explanation? Is there a miscommunicationbetween
our DB(Sybase12) and WLS?Hi. It looks to you like it's after you get the connection, but really
it's when the server is
gettng the pool connection. For performance/synchronization reasons we
do a clever
delay: When your code asks for a pool connection we quickly give you
the pool wrapper,
but we delay actually reserving the real underlying DBMS connection until
your first
real need for a connection, at your first JDBC call, such as createStatement()
etc.
It is while waiting for a pool connection long enough for the transaction
coordinator
to have timed you out before you ever get a chance. It's nothing to do
with the
DBMS or even JDBC, I believe. I think the weblogic server either has
too few execute-threads
and/or too few CPU cycles to do the work load.
Okay, so there's a lazy initialization of the connection.
From reading our log I believe our failur is immediate rather
than waiting for 30+ seconds(the default setting) from the DB,
the timeout occurred later as a result. At the time either because the DB Server
is very busy.
Since we are running WLS6.0 we have only one connection pool,
we have defined a max of 150 threads in the pool. While this
is happening the DB Server is being pinned by an overnight job,
but the WLS Server is not busy at all. The DB and WLS resides
on different physical boxes.
We also have a thread dump from the WLS console when we rebooted the server, it
showed that we are hanging on to the thread & jdbc
connections after these exceptions has occurred instead of releasing them, note
"16083"(~4.5 hours) seconds has passed:
142 116222 Retry rollback request for tx: 'transaction=(IdHash=2963855,Name =
[EJB UserManagerBeanImpl.signalICUserServletHeartBeat()],Xid=30643:8f3838f3709bf53d,Status=Rolling
Back. [Reason = Unknown],numRepliesOwedMe=0,numRepliesOwedOthers=0,seconds since
begin=16083,seconds left=10,ServerResourceInfo[weblogic.jdbc.jts.Connection]=(state=started,assigned=server),SCInfo[server]=(state=active),properties=({weblogic.jdbc=t3://159.55.158.25:8005,
weblogic.transaction.name=[EJB UserManagerBeanImpl.signalICUserServletHeartBeat()]}))'
Scheduled Trigger
So I would argue this problem actually chewed up resources on the WLS server.
