VM with 1GB RAM in Hyper-V server gets restarted while Updating glibc rpm

I created a linux RHEL 6.1 based VM in Hyper-V server windows 2012R2.
VM settings are given below:-
Start up RAM=1GB.
Max RAM=2GB(dynamic expandable).
RAM type=dynamic
We are trying to upgrade old  version of glibc rpm(glibc.i686 02.12-1.25.el6)  with new version(glibc-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.i686) on this VM using yum command. We also tried using rpm -Uvh command but result is same. We did the same
upgrade in ESX server VM there it is getting updated successfully.
While installing new glibc, VM is getting restarted unexpectedly.
Note: This behavior is not seen on ESX hosted VM.

Hi Sir,
>>I created a linux RHEL 6.1 based VM in Hyper-V server windows 2012R2.
First I would suggest you update hyper-v host then install newest LIS for RHEL 6.1 :
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531026.aspx
If the issue persists I would suggest you to try to get further assistance within following forum:

  • Any suggestions for virtualising servers with 1GB RAM

    Hi Guys
I now have 5 old servers with < 1GB RAM so p2v fails. Has anyone else had this issue and how do you get round it without having to try and source old, out of date RAM? Any help, suggestions appreciated. This might sound crazy but the only thing I can think of at the moment is to virtualise them into a VM environment then export them out and into the Oracle VM environment.
    Richard

You can use a Knoppix to boot the physical server and transfer the filesystems you wish to migrate.
    Reference prior posting,
    P2V
There are number of advantages vs the "linux p2v" method.
    Cheers,

  • U550 - Windows 7 - 0x000000A5 BSOD with 1Gb RAM

A friend of mine asked me to install Windows 7 on her IdeaPad U550. So I did. Everything worked at first. But after installing drivers and some software, I started getting BSODs on widows startup:
The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. 0x000000A5 (0x00001000, 0x00000000, 0x55AA55AA, 0xFFFF0091)
I tried reinstalling windows 7, but windows setup fails with the same BSOD message.
Some further experimentation has brought me to the following conclusions:
    1) the laptop works fine with a 1Gb memory module installed.
    2) the laptop doesn't work with more then 1Gb RAM installed (U550's shipped with one 1Gb and one 2Gb modules installed)
    3) the problem isn't in the installed OS (DVD booted windows setup also fails)
    4) both RAM moduls are working properly (tested them on my other laptop)
    5) both RAM slots are working properly (windows starts with 1Gb RAM module in either one of them)
    6) there're no BIOS updates for Lenovo IdeaPad U550.
There IS however some kind of problem with the battery. There's a notification in systray recommending to replace it. Taking the battery out or placing it back in doesn't seem to make any difference in regard to BSODs.
So, my best theory at the time is this: the battery (and/or it's absence)  somehow causes the ACPI-related errors. Now, that sounds kind of stupid to me, and I can't just ask my friend to buy a new battery if I'm not even sure it's gonna fix the problem. That's why I need your help, guys. Any help is appreciated.

Well I deleted the VM and re-created it, and reloaded Windows and all my software, works fine now.
    Thanks for all the help.

  • WAS server getting restarted??

    Hi,
We have a J2EE application running on WAS 6.40/sp15. While processing about 20000 records, the application puts as many messages in queues. It works fine till 15000 records. But when processing more than that the application gets aborted and the WAS server gets restarted. Any help what could be the possible problem?
Is there any queue size or some thing like that which needs to be increased??
    regards,
    Sujesh

    Sujesh,
Can you be more specific about records? Type?

  • ESXi6.0 Host, WIndows 7, only boots with 1GB RAM

    Hi gang,
I converted a physical Win7 machine for use on my ESXi 6.0 sever and it created the machine just fine.  I added a second disk to the server and moved the VM files to that disk, removed it from the inventory, and then added it back.  The VM was originally configured to use 4GB RAM.  However, when I power on the machine, the console window stays black and Windows never boots.  With some trial and error, the only way I was able to get the VM to power on and boot was if I changed its settings to only use 1GB RAM.  There is 8GB RAM total in the ESXi host and the other VMs aren't using much, so there is plenty freely available.  However it simply won't boot with more than 1GB configured.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Well I deleted the VM and re-created it, and reloaded Windows and all my software, works fine now.
    Thanks for all the help.

  • Hyper-V Server: How can I update drivers with limited Device Manager access?

I have a brand new Intel server, SR2625URLX. I want to use Hyper-V server R2. I have been having some issues with the networking, and Intel wants me to update to the latest drivers which have been certified for R2 versions of 2008, Hyper-V, etc. It was a struggle just to get it so I can see the device manager, but come to find out it is read-only when using remotely and there is no local GUI for it. I need to update the drivers. I tried copying the drivers to a share, and running this on both of the inf files thaat were part of the driver set, but the driver did not change (even after a reboot):
    pnputil -i -a <driverinf>
What else can I do to update the drivers for my NIC's?

pnputil seems to be the way to go.
Did you copy the inf files locally?
If you have any virtual networks defined, you might need to remove them, update the drivers, and then re-create them.
I am thinking that there might be some device not being identified properly or a file lock.  Also, the drivers must be signed properly or they will not load.
I just noticed this from the server core list:
To obtain a list of drivers that are installed on the server running a Server Core installation
     • At a command prompt, type:  sc query type= driver
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservercore/thread/d43465c4-66e6-481f-a060-0fba173fbcec
Also, be aware that Server 2008 certified is not equal to Hyper-V certified - so don't let the tech support person tell you there isn't a difference.

  • Motion, iMac 24" with 1Gb ram: is it enought?

    Ciao to all
I'm evaluating MOTION 2.1.2 as tool to produce small video (45 sec).
I bought, last week, a new iMac 24" with the standard components ( 1Gb ram etc etc...) and a friend gave me the possibility to try his Motion.
I found few problems working with the normal tools I need ( Motion 2.1.2, Photoshop 8.0.1, Fission and Safari opened at the same time)
I found a strange situation; sometimes the machine seems to be freezed; the processor is working at 5-15% ( so, nothing) BUT application are VERY low to react.
I discovered a problem of RAM; I mean, seems that 1 GB is NOT enought for my situation.
SO I tried to close as many app as possible but I detected that Motion seems to be VERY hungry of ram.
The availability of FREE ram (with only Motion and safari open) decrease, close to zero, the inactive ram is more then 1/2 ram installed (520 Mb)....
Can anyone expert of Motion help me a bit?
I have to decide if buy the app or not so I would like to to the right thing....
Regards and have great time for this Christmas.
    Ciao
    rob

    Hi Roberto
Motion Graphics in general are memory hungry and for them to 'look nice' in development phase they need to be rendered (RAM preview). Now you can have this preview as FULL quality or half or quarter. If you use any of the latter two your preview will render faster, but not with best quality. This is good for checking timing and how things in general look like.
Recommendation: Always close not needed applications, reduce your preview quality to 50% or less (don't worry, in the final export, Motion exports in full quality) and it should be faster. More RAM is a good idea bu will cost you money, check first those two options. Cheers.

  • Nokia should release the L720 with 1GB RAM

    Hello all,
I am a huge fan of Nokia from India and I have not posted much in the forum before. I had to post this because I felt this is really important.
None of the new games that are released would work on the L720 because of the really less RAM. My big concern is that even Temple Run won't work. Dumb phones like Galaxy Ace runs it and I don't want Nokia to loose this battle again. I think it would be a smarter move to use high RAM for the L7xx,8xx and 9xx series. Leave the 512 to the lower range.
I hope somebody picks this up and takes it to Nokia's higher level management.
No "Temple run" is like a no sale in India. Wake up Nokia. Don't let the L720 die the painful death that my L710 had to endure.
    Regards
    Sangiah

If Temple run does work on 512 MB lower spec android devices maybe you should direct your attention to the dvelopers who should (and IMO will) provide optimisations and updates to include support for 512 MB devices,
The 710 is a lower spec/end device with a pricepoint to match. IF 1GB RAM is so crucil at this point you have the 820 to choose from.

Bug in IOS Version? More RAM is not possible in SUP720-3BXL.
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    > Tracebacks and BGP flapping are not necessarily related.
BGP flapps because there was no more RAM available. (according to the log "ip cef was disabled" because of low memory) After reactivating "ip cef distributed" the BGP sessions becomes stable.
    > After the IOS upgrade, did you see any more Tracebacks?
I did not see any tracebacks in the log. Because of having much lower memory available with the new image (only 10-15MB RAM after booting) I decide to downgrade and boot with the previous version.

  • Anyone install SL on Mini Core Solo 1.83Ghz with 1GB Ram?

Has anyone done this, how's it working out? Thanks.

There isn't actually a core solo 1.83 mini. The only core solo model was a 1.5, in the first generation of Intel-based minis in 2006.
If you mean a core duo 1.83, then the system certainly meets the minimum spec for Snow Leopard, so the main concern wouldn't be hardware related, but whether or not your software is fully compatible. If you give a run down of the applications you use, that might help to get you some direct assistance!

  • MSDNS service crashes everytime hyper-v server is restarted

    Hello,
Every since I installed MS DNS about ten months ago on Windows Server 2012 Standard in Hyper-V (Windows 2012 Standard Guest) it crashes for no reason after every service restart and reboot. The only way I'm able to get the DNS service to start working again
and to stay up is to uninstall and reinstall the DNS role after every reboot. Below are the standard two error logs.
    Thank you
