  • G510 audio driver installation problem on Windows 8.1

I've just received my brand new Lenovo G510 and installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit onto it.
Most of the drivers from the attached CD installed without any problems (though I was quite surprised that no newer versions were available on the Support wrbpage) but I can't install audio driver.
Apparently this series is equipped in either Conexant or Realtek audio chips and the provided setup application is desigend to detect the correct chip and run the appropriate driver installation program.
The problem is that setup is not working for me. All I receive is the notification "This utility can not be used on this machine". Since there are no "orphan" audio devices in the Device Manager, I can't really tell which audio chipset is installed in my machine. I don't want to install both dirvers as it may just cause confilcts.
How can I say which audio chipset is installed and install the correct driver?

    hi mikolajek,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    Under Device manager
You should look for your Audio
Normally it stays under Sound and gaming controller,
And if no driver is installed in shows as High Definition Audio
Right click on it and select Properties
         Go to the Details TAB
change the Value to Hardware ID then check the details
    ex. PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_051014E4&REV_01
Get the 4 digit after VEN and DEV
Ven is the Vendor and Devi is the Device
Go to PCI database and do a search for the VEN
Then search for the DEV and youll know that device

  • HP Laserjet PRO MFP M125nw; Wireless Driver installation problem in Win 8.1

Product name : HP Laserjet PRO MFP M125nw, product nr CZ173A
US Operating system: Dual Boot:   Win Vista home premium (32 bit) / Win 8.1 pro (32 bit)
The printer was installed under Vista in September 2014 and was and still is wireless printing and scanning without a problem.
Recently I tried to install the printer (wireless) under Win 8.1 and I downloaded the latest Full Feature software from HP.nl.
During installation the software installation package could not find the printer and installation was aborted.
I ran the printer self test / Configuration. The network Info and product info sheets were without  errors. A ping to the IP address of the printer was without a loss. The firewall indicated that HP software is accepted.
Off course I read everything on HP about this problem I followed every advice and repeatedly gave it a try. I even installed the usb cable solution ( USB was working ok) followed by your change connection instructions, but all in vain.
To my surprise HP was able to find my printer when I checked on http:// www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl. However the printer was found in my local network as a HP Laserjet Pro M1132 multifunctional printer with product nr stars 3NW-01 which is not correct, however the found serie nr. of CNB7G3RC78 was correct.
The print and scan doctor made some changes to the software and after that I was able to print wirelessly, however the Scan doctor button did not react at all and using the program was not possible further. Starting the program again gave the same result.
Conclusion:       In Vista: HP wireless print and HP wireless Scan is working fine
In Win 8.1: HP wireless print is OK, HP wireless Scan cannot be installed !????
In Win 8.1: Windows Printer driver and Win Fax& Scan driver both wireless working ok
Remark: Reading the display is difficult in dim lit areas. The on / off button is brightly lit and this light should be used to enlighten the display instead.
A solution for the scanning problem would be appreciated.
    Kind regards

Hi @JWAH , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing driver issues. I'd like to help!
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125/126 Series Full Software and Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

I understand that the installation stops at 85% and you get a error. I can help you with this.
Sorry I can't read the error from the screen shot. Please let me know what the error shows.
I have provided a document with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue.

If you don't have a error code, go to No, my error message does not include a numbered code
Step 2: Find the error code in the Event Viewer.
    What is the error code?
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software. How to use MSCONFIG .
Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
Then download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows. HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

  • Installation Problems with Apple MBA and OfficeJet Pro 8600 All-in-One

I've had no issues with 8600 and MBA on my home network for over a year.  Today, the computer couldn't find the printer repeatedly without rebooting the printer everytime I sent a print job.  Got frustrated and thought I'd uninstall the printer and redownload and reinstall, so I did that.  HP sent the Mavericks 12.34.37.dmg file and I installed with no issues.  But it didn't open the Utility file like it said it would, so I opened it and clicked 'set up new device' to which it never found the printer at all.  Searching the HP site, I also found and downloaded and installed the HP PrintersDriver 3.0.dmg and still have the same problems.  My other computers in the house are finding the same printer and printing fine.  My MBA has no printer installed now, and the Utility software can't find it.  What do I do?  I need to be printing right now, and have never had issues like this before.  My printer serical number is [edited Serial Number by Moderator].  Please give me some direction and hope.
    Thank you.

    Hi @MacBimmer ,
I see that you are experiencing issues adding the printer over the wireless network back onto Yosemite. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Power cycle the router and restart the Mac and printer.
Follow these steps to Verify and Repair the Disk Permissions.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, then click Utilities.
From the sub menu on the right, double-click Disk Utility .
From the list on the left, select your drive or active partition.
Click the First Aid tab, then click Verify then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart your computer.
    Reset The Printing System:
Note: This will delete all the printers listed and you will have to add them back in again.
Go to the Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, hold down the control button on the keyboard and click your mouse in the white area on the left side of the window, select Reset Printing System when it comes up and put in the Mac password. Then click the + sign, select the printer,  then click on the add button. (you might have to click on the dropdown to select the printer name from the list)
If you are having network issues, then add the printer through the IP Protocal.
After clicking the + button, select the IP across the top, type in the printer's IPv4 address, select jet direct below and then Apply.
    Test the printer.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Im thinking, maybe I have not installed all the libraries I need for database connectivity?
I have installed the CVI SQL Toolkit.
Can you help or guide me to examples that can?

  • X220 boot and installation problems

    Hello everybody,
this will be a confusing post ;-)
    Introduction
I just got my new X220 4290-W4H with 8GB of RAM and an additional UMTS-card and tried to install an OS on it. Installing Linux using an USB key worked but it wasn't able to boot with grub not beeing able to load stage 2. But since I guess Lenovo will only support you when you are using Windows I continued with the experiments with a Windows 7 x86-64 with SP1 from the MSDN-AA. I also tried using USB sticks instead of a DVD and different variations in the BIOS (UEFI only, legacy only, both, SATA, compatible, ...) but for this post I reset everything to the default.
    Preparation
To have a clean starting point I reset the BIOS to the defaults by using the corresponding load-function in the last screen. In addition I attached the internal harddrive to another Linux computer and nulled the first and the last GB of the HDD. So nothing of interest (no mbr, no partition table, no gpt) is on it.
    First boot with "new" HDD
To have some kind of reference, I first started the computer with the HDD inserted only filled with zeros and the lenovo external DVD writer attached by USB. There the aforementioned Windows 7 x86-64 SP1 DVD was inserted. I measured the following timing with a stopwatch:
    00:00 switched on
    00:08 screen got switched on
00:21 BIOS splash screen disappears (isn't that a little bit long? Well, let's save this for another thread ;-) )
00:26 the Windows boot loader starts loading files
01:10 loading of Windows finished (splash screen)
01:23 the language selection dialog appears
timers reset because of manual intervention
00:00 begin installation by clicking on "install now"
    00:38 setup started
timers reset because of manual intervention
    00:00 accept license
    00:00 start a user-defined setup
00:00 create a 50.000 MB big partition on the empty disk
00:07 partition creation finished (one exactly 100MB big "system" partition and a 48.7 GB "primary" partition)
IMPORTANT: sometimes this creation step takes f.ex. 65 seconds. I have not yet found a pattern which can perhaps be found - but I did to many tries to remeber anything anymore...
timers reset because of manual intervention
00:00 click next, start copying of windows files
00:03 abortion with the following error
The error message basically says that Windows setup wasn't able to format one of the partitions bevause there was an error when preparing the partition. The error number is 0x80070057.
Second boot with HDD modified by Windows
Now I reboot the computer and here it really gets weird. Not only Windows, but also the BIOS is freaking out. That shouldn't happen, no matter what's on the harddrive. Especially big differences are markes in red.
    00:00 switched on
    00:08 screen got switched on
    03:03 BIOS splash screen disappears
03:28 the Windows boot loader starts loading files
04:12 loading of Windows finished (splash screen)
05:49 the language selection dialog appears
timers reset because of manual intervention
00:00 begin installation by clicking on "install now"
    01:20 setup started
timers reset because of manual intervention
    00:00 accept license
    00:00 start a user-defined setup
00:00 choose the partition of the last run, which is beeing recognized
00:00 click next, start copying of windows files
00:03 abortion with the error of before
    Possible Solutions
As I alread wrote, playing with different combinations of the BIOS settings didn't help. I am here also simply using the defaults as it came from Lenovo (no UEFI forced, and forcing legacy does not help). Using a USB stick instead of the DVD (actually I started like that) and on another USB port didn't help.
The harddrive itself seems to be ok. I can write and read (md5sum checked) data on the HDD over a USB adapter on another computer with around 30MB/s and when booting a Linux live system on the X220 I can reach even around 80MB/s and more for writing zeros on it. So it does not seem to be a problem of the kernel or the harddrive but later on of the BIOS and the bootloader.
Searching the net I found the suggestion to create the partitions by hand and let Windows simply use them. This did not help and took an increadibly long time.
    Help
Please don't forget that I am not trying to do something "strange". I only want to install a vanilla Windows 7 SP1 DVD onto a vanilla HDD in an unchanged X220. Even when Windows has some problems, the BIOS shouldn't be affected that badly by some garbage on the harddrive, right?
And this garbage is actually valid data. I checked it on another Linux computer and two FAT16 partitions where correctly created:
    /dev/sdb1   *        2048      206847      102400    6  FAT16
    /dev/sdb2          206848   102399999    51096576    6  FAT16
I have no more idea what to try or what to do to get this Windows installed. It would be great if you could either help me or at least share your experiences if you saw something similar so that I know I am not alone and don't have to return the machine next week due to a hardware defect.
    Thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I just created a GPT on the disk including a 200MB FAT32 formatted EFI_SYSTEM partition. On it I put /boot/efi/shellx64.efi from the Tiano-project. No chance, as soon as anything but zeros is on the HDD, the BIOS/UEFI (I switched to UEFI-only for this) is simply hanging and causing a lot of hdd traffic. Getting into the one-time-boot-menu takes ages, selecting the HDD give a lot of traffic again and after a minute or so the one-time-boot-menu comes back.
I do not say it should boot the shell - I don't know UEFI enough for that up to now. But it should not takes minutes to find and search the HDD...

  • NI-488.2 v2.3 Mac OS X installation problem

I am trying to install the new NI-488.2 v2.3 driver on a Power Mac G4 with OSX 10.3.9 and LabView 7.0. The installation appears ok. All files seem to have been written correctly. However the Explorer cannot find the PCI-GPIB board and the Trouble Shooting Wizard reports a fail on step 1: NI-488.2 Software Presence Verified. I have reloaded LabView 7.0 and the NI-488.2 v2.3 driver several times with no better success. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with the driver. How have you uninstalled the driver? Make sure that you are following the steps in this KB. Once you have done this and reinstalled the driver (you can get the driver from this site) repost if you are still seeing the same behavior.

I bought a 845 MAX 2BLR with Bluetooth and have following problem. From time to time the Bluetooth module is not recognised by Windows XP. So I have no

I have had the same problem, I have found that if you go into ControlPanel/ System/ Hardware/ Device Manager/ USB controllers and Disable and then immediately Enable the MSI USB Bluetooth Device it works every time.  Hope this works for you as well.

  • Post 1.3.5 issues: App Installation problem - Restart Required (endless loop)

OK, so I've upgraded to 1.3.5 and that went well.  The problem now is that I can't install ANY application from the App Catalog.  Every time I attempt to install something the install fails and I get a message "Restart Required" to which I respond "YES" and the device restarts (looks like a luna restart, not a full restart).  However, I still can't install anything since I keep getting the same message.
Anyone else seeing this?  I'm attempting a full restart now (still in progress as of this post).
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The looping "Restart Required" message is apparently the result of having some Homebrew apps installed that don't quite have everything Palm expects. The process which is trying to move your apps to their new home barfs and gives up. When you try to install a new app, it trys again (with the same result).
The fix is to download the latest Preware and run something called the Emergency Migration Helper. This "fixes" the Homebrew app installs so that the Palm migration process can succeed. I assume you could also try removing all Homebrew apps, but the Prebrew  EMH fix is much easier IMO.

  • HP Photosmart C7280 All in One installation problems with windows 8.1

    Hi,
I have a HP Photosmart C7280 All in One printer which was working fine on wifi with Windows 8. A few days ago I got the prompt to upgrade to 8.1. Following this the printer would not work at all, and I got prompt/warning message to re-install the printer software. So I went to the control panel and removed all the old HP software, and tried to re-install the latest one from the HP site...to no avail.
I have tried doing this a number of ways - manual download, downloading the HP software that determines what software is required, then downloads it for you....

  • Windows 8.1 installation problem on Lenovo G510

Hi. I bought a new Lenovo G510 laptop. I downloaded Windows 8.1 from Microsoft DreamSpark, and burned ISO image on a DVD disc. When I try to install it on my laptop, I receive an error (it might be wrong translated):
    Load Driver
A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now.
Note: If the installation media for Windows in the DVD drive or on a USB drive, you can safely remove it for this step.
I already tried changing the following options in BIOS but no effect:
Configuration tab -> SATA Controller Mode from AHCI to Compatible
Boot tab -> Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy Support
Boot tab -> Boot Priority from UEFI First to Legacy First
Also, I tried to insert CD with drivers which was in the box, but - of course - no appropiate drivers were found.
What happened? How am I supposed to install a Windows 8.1? What should I try? Thanks in advance for giving any clues and answers
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi JachuPL,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From this microsoft article, the error that you're getting maybe caused by one of the following:
     - The installation DVD is removed during the setup process.
     - A low-quality DVD was used to create the installation DVD.
     - The speed at which the installation DVD was burned was too fast.
     - The DVD drive cannot read the media.
     - The ISO file is corrupted.
    Things that you can try:
    1. Verify that the Windows 8.1 ISO is not corrupted by comparing the MD5 / SHA1 Hash of the download file to the one from DreamSpark. To get the hash, download and install the Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier and foillow this guide.
    2. Instead of using a DVD, follow this guide on how to create a bootable Windows 8.1 USB installer and use it to install Windows 8.1. (use the USB 2.0 port on the unit).
Let me know how it goes.
