VMM 2012: How to Configure Automatic Start and Stop Actions for a Virtual Machine?

Does somebody know how to confgure Automatic Start and Stop Actions for a Virtual Machine in VMM 2012?
I miss that option.

Automatic Start or Automatic Restart actions are available for virtual machines running on a Hyper-V cluster from within Virtual Machine Manager.
From within Virtual Machine Manager, bring up the Virtual Machine's properties:
Click "Hardware Configuration"
Click "Availability"
Click "High", "Medium", or "Low" to enable automatic start/restart or
Click "Do not restart automatically" to disable automatic start/restart

VMs running on a cluster have to be marked "Highly Available" and logically, Microsoft assumes that you'll want these VMs to be running all the time when this setting is selected. If the cluster fails or needs to be restarted, you can set the priority
by which a VM restarts, or you can set the VM to not restart at all when cluster services are restored by using the settings above.

We configure some VMs on a cluster
the default setting of automatic Start action is set to Nothing
when the cluster is down of hyper-v service is stopped , once the problem is solved , All VM will be run as it was running before the problem happened
So What is different between the following options of automatic Start action
Nothing
Automatically start if it was running when the service is stopped
And do you know why it is st for standalone Host not for the cluster as per this thread

FYI - Automatic Start Actions in the settings of a VM are different once the VM is HA under Clustering. Since the job of Clustering and HA is to keep that VM running.

I know that you can't use the VMM settings to setup the Automatic Start action, and the Cluster Hyper-V setting only specify the "shutdown" action.

Automatic start and Stop the SAP System

Hi experts,
We want to deploy the unattended/Scheduled Start SAP and stop SAP in IBM i series. How to do it? I have tried with WRKJOBSCDE and putted the command STOPSAP or STARTSAP but after finishing the job, now result. But when I simply put command STOPSAP/STARTSAP it works(start and stop sap system).
How to deploy it?

yes, that is correct, but in the meantime, it is **** easier ;-)
As SAPHostAgent starts automatically, it is just needed in the default profile:
Autostart = 1
This is a really nice new feature ;-))

Automatic start and shut down for Iphone

Hello,
I usually turn off my Iphone at nighttime.
That is a nuisance because I have to turn it on and off every day and also I cannot use the built in alarm clock.
A good idea would be to let the user set a timer that automatically start the Iphone in the morning and shut it down in the evening at a certain time.
Could you please think about it?

You can use the Do Not Disturb feature to keep the phone quiet during your down time, then you could use your phone as an alarm clock. It's what I do.

How to change both start and end dates for an business event (or any object

Hi all.
We are in the case to change the validity dates for several business events in training management.
The special point is that both, start and end date, have to be changed.
In example, business event 00000001 is valid from 2010.01.01 to 2010.01.31 and shoud be "moved" from 2010.05.01 to 2010.05.31.
So if i run RHBEGDA0 report to change start date first, it doesn't work propperly because new start date is bigger than old enddate.
Next thing we thought is to change end date first, using RHGRENZ1, and then change the start date, with the report RHBEGDA0. Problem with this solution is that a business event duration shoud be calculated taking care of free days (weekends and day ofs).
Is there any better solution for this?

You can write an LSMW for this t-code if the number of business events to be maintained is huge.

Start and stop error for performance counter in Perfmon of Windows server 2008

Dear All,
There is a centralized monitoring server to monitor a few Windows server 2003.
There is a error when I start the performance counter for remote servers.
But it can be started again after 10 seconds.
Error:
When attempting to start the Data Collector Set the following system error occured:
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Another issue is I cannot start or stop the performance counter in command line (logman.exe) after 1 month.
The error message is similar to the above, it mentioned something is using the files.
I have to reboot my server.
I don't know how can I find out the root cause.
Please help.

Dear Tommy,
This issue may be caused by certain programs running in the background.
If it is convenience for you to restart the server, you can do that and test the result.
If the issue persists, you can try a Clean Boot.
Clean boot

Let’s disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:
1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.
2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
If the issue still occurs, we may need to collect some trace information of the error message by using Process Monitor.
1. Download process monitor from the link given here:

Can anyone tell me where can I set up the validitiy period for the contract account in FICA. In contract creation, I could just see the contract validity start date. I also need to know the validity end date. Please let me know the solution asap.

Yes, you're right, you would then need to develop a lot of user exits to prevent the re-use of the contract account after the validity date.
I'm think in a strange solution, it could work but you'll need to test it. if a contract account is marked for deletion (Field FKKVKP-LOEVM equal to 'X') no further action can be made over it, When you create you contract account you can schedule a change using as validity date (Field BUS000FLDS-VALDT ins the change contract account screen) to the end date of you contract account and set this deletion flag. then you run FPP2A to activate the schedule changes, before you get to the end date the flag is not set, when you get to the end date FPP2A will activate the flag and the contract account becomes not usefull.
If you do this, you have be careful because all the postings to the contract account won't be possible, it means that if there are payment to be made, interests to be calculated, etc... nothing will be posted.

How to Start and Stop the SAP System

I have installed "Sneak Preview"; Searched for start and stop scripts but there are more than one script which has named start.bat and stop.bat. Moreover, I searched the documents which comes with Sneak Preview but could find useful instruction there either.
Question: Could you please point me to the documentation where it explains the starting and stopping SAP, for Sneak Preview?

Determine partition range start and stop for a partition

Hi,
Using oracle 11.2.0.3
We are using range interval partitioning and partition sget generated automatically. (range-hash) intervbal 1 month
Whilst can check table manually and see start and end range of partition is it possible to query data dictionary to see
the satrt and stop range as wish to have script to automatically rename the system generated partitions based on the range involved e.g if generated partition has max date value

Have triied following sql but despite partition keyword in from clause is not using partition pruning.
Table belwo retailer_transaction date-range partitioned 1 per month.
If have to explictly use partitiong_date as condition in where clause to get partition pruning.
Need to ab able to determine what start and stop dates for that month is automatically.
Checked user_tab_partitions as have sql geneerator can get partition names but doesn't show partition start an dstop ranges.
