VMM Connection to Configuration Manager and Operations Manager
Hi,
i was wondering how do i connect Virtual Machine Manager to Configuration Manager. do i need to have operations manager installed and up and running? or can i connect it to SCCM directly as it is being the main component.
From my understanding of the VMM is that it is used for provisioning and controlling of Hyper visors (cytrix, Vmeare, etc.).
why do i need to go through the Operation Manger? why can i not connect directly to SCCM?
whats the Advantages of using operations manager instead of using CM?
Thanks.
VMM has no direct link to Configuration Manager at all.
VMM has a direct link to Operations Manager, which can be integrated and monitor the entire fabric (compute, networking and storage).
The synergy here is that every thing in VMM, will get exposed for monitoring in SCOM.
Configuration Manager has a different approach - as VMM is responsible for the
datacenter - while Configuration Manager manages the clients and eventually applications within the servers/clients.

Can't connect to Configuration Manager Service manager
So after a failed upgrade to R2, I've had to restore the database as the R2 upgrade corrupted the DB.
I am now working though the minefield of component errors. However I can't connect to the configuration manager service manager, I get this error:
Error communicating with the specified Configuration Manager Site Server
So I have done a site reset and I still have the same issue.
I have tried several accounts, all with full permissions on the site server and in configuration manager. I'm stumped now.
Anyone experienced this before and found a solution?Hi,
Any useful information in your ConfigMgrSetup.log and windows event log?

Verifying Server Connection in Configuration Manager
I am trying to deploy ES3 on Weblogic 10.3.6 and am having a problem with Configuration Manager. When I Verify Server Connection, the CM spins for a bit then comes back with a ALC-LCM-100-011 error, Cannot Connect to Application Server.
In the CM log there is this:
com.adobe.livecycle.cdv.CDVInternalException[ALC-LCM-100-011]: Cannot connect to application server.
Application server host or port may be invalid.
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Unable to resolve 'weblogic.management.mbeanservers.domainruntime'. Resolved 'weblogic.management.mbeanservers'
I know the info is correct, in fact when I intentionally use a wrong password or account the CM immediately returns that the info is wrong.
My WL architecture has a WL domain with distributed development and staging managed servers (no clusters). The Admin server is standalone, as are the two managed servers. I am attempting to install on one of the managed servers.
Any hints here? Thanks!See the link http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/PrepareInstallSingle/WS624e3cba99b79e1229e967b2 12eea97f932-7ffe.html . It has the below text :-
Two primary startup scenarios are available for WebLogic:
Using Node Manager and configuring through the Administration Server (recommended)
Directly starting the Managed Servers with configurations in the StartManagedWebLogic scripts
To use the automatic configuration features of Configuration Manager (the recommended option), you must use the Node Manager and configure through the Administration Server.
If you are directly starting the Managed Servers, you can still use the automatic configuration features of Configuration Manager. However, you must manually enter the Configuration Manager changes into the StartManagedWebLogic scripts. For the appropriate steps, see Installing and Deploying LiveCycle for WebLogic .
I think, if you want to use configuration manager for authomatically configuring the managed servers, you have to supply the admin server port while verifying the connection for weblogic server. -
System Center - Service Manager Connecting with Configuration Manager
Hi,
I have System Center 2012 R2 - Service Manager and Configuration Manager (CM) installed, and i have created a connector from Service Manager (SM) to CM which imports data from CM. the question that i have is that is there two way communication
of the data between SM and CM.
Second question that i have is if i have created some change request in the SM, will it show up in the CM as what needs to be completed.
Thankswow, that's a big question.
Service Manager is a representational object database. there are objects in the database that represent objects in your environment. Most things in service manager are either Work Items (incident, change request, service request, etc) or config items (servers,
databases, software, users, domains, printers, locations, budget centers, purchase orders, workstations, hard drives, network cards, switches, business services, etc). there are a few other classifications, but for now, lets just deal with those two.
there are also relationships between those objects, showing how those objects interconnect. For instance, say i report a problem. in the database, the user config item object that represents me is related to the incident work item object that represents
my issue by the relationship System.WorkItemAffectedUser, Affected User.
the advantage of this approach is twofold: first, the Affect user on an incident isn't just a text field, it's actually the full object that represents me. so you can click on me and see everything about me that the system knows, and follow other relationships
to see my manager, etc. Second, because everything is related to the full object, i don't need to duplicate any info on the incident, just reference the related object.
So to address your first question, it does everything your IT environment does, assuming you tell it about it.
to your second question, it has whatever information you tell it. Here is where Connectors come into play. the AD connectors can get you Users, Computers, Printers, etc. the Config Manager connector will get you detailed systems info, hardware, and
software (if you have Asset Intelligence turned on). the Ops Manager will get you a lot more info about the systems, Service Maps, health state, etc. And then there's
Provance makes a lot of money selling the DMP to let Orgs import data from vendors. not to mention their Asset lifecycle stuff, or Cireson's for that matter.
TL;DR - a lot. -
Only Able to Connect to Google Chrome and Opera on Internet
I'm running 10.9.5 on a Mid-2011 iMac. The problem started last night after I uninstalled Norton Security for Mac. Since then although I am connected to the internet through my ethernet connection, I'm unable to access the internet except through Google Chrome and Opera. No luck with Safari, Firefox, Apple Mail App Store, iTunes or Microsoft Outlook for Mac. My cable company, Time-Warner Cable, was unable to help.
Here are the steps I've taken, since last night, all without success
Backed up to 3 or 4 previous backups in Time Machine;
Rebooted the cable modem;
Turned off the firewall;
Shut down my iMac and pulled out and put the ethernet cable back in and then restarted;
Flushed DNS using the app "DNS Flusher";
Manually changed the DNS Servers in the Advanced subsection of the Ethernet section in System Preferences;
Started my Mac in the Safe Mode;
Created a separate Administrative Account in the User and Group section in System Preferences
Some of the above steps I tried more than once and at this point am out of ideas.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
--ChuckI've used the X2 and its works fine with Whatsapp and Google Play.
Also do try a different SIM card on the phone.
Also for the Security App, you can actually add the Whatsapp and Facebook or those app that you trusted into "Trusted App".

If this doesn't work it's likely that your VMM server doesn't work. Check Application log to see if there are errors related to VMM service.
You can also collect traces as described
here and attach them to this thread.
Are you using a domain administrator account? (this is the default allowed after SCVMM is installed - until other users are added).
also try restarting VMM server or VMM services once.
this occur if the SQL database owner is indicated as NULL. Try adding the SQL SA account as db owner.

Connection Between Solution Manager and ECC
Dear Techies,
I would like to install SAP Solution Manager in one laptop and ECC on another laptop. Both the laptops have very good configuration in terms of operating system (both have server editions) , RAM ( 8GB each) and Hard Drive ( 600 GB each). Once the installation is completed, is there any way that I can establish connection between both the laptops over the same internet/wifi ? I would like to ensure connection is established successfully and data transfer is happening between both the systems. Many thanks for your answers in advance.Hi Arun,

"Configuration Manager cannot connect to the site" after site update from SP1 to R2
Our dev SCCM environment only has a single primary site with a remote SQL database. Initially, the dev primary site had SP1 Beta (5.00.7782.1000) installed but as everyone is aware there is no upgrade path available to SP1 or R2 from Beta; so, we uninstalled
the site and removed the database, re-installed SP1 non-Beta (5.00.7804.1000), then proceeded to update all devices with the latest client agent. Afterwards, we attempted to upgrade the site from SP1 non-Beta (5.00.7804.1000) to R2 (5.00.7958.1000).
All seemed well until we attempt to open the Configuration Manager console and we get the following error message:
Configuration Manager cannot connect to the site (Site Name)
The Configuration Manager Administrator console could not connect to the Configuration Manager site database. Verify the version of the console is compatible with the version of the site server you are connecting to and then try to connect again.
So we tried reinstalling the console directly from here...
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup\AdminConsole.msi"
still the same error message persisted, so we tried installing it from here...
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup\ConsoleSetup.exe"
still the same error message persisted, so then we tried installing it directly from the R2 (5.00.7958.1000) installation media, and afterwards the same error message persisted....
All along, we were checking the AdminConsole log from here:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\AdminUILog\SmsAdminUI.log"
Here are the contents:

Once again, we validated we could connect to the SQL database from this box, and that the console was at the same version as the site. Any help or guidance with getting our access to the console restored after the SP1 to R2 upgrade would be greatly
appreciated. From the Primary Site Server, I tried uninstalling the Admin Console and re-installing using:
consolesetup.exe /q TargetDir="%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Configuration Manager" EnableSQM=0 DefaultSiteServerName=<SiteServerName>
Of course replacing <SiteServerName> with the FQDN of my Primary Site Server. Console installed successfully however the same error message persists.
Also tried installing the console on a clean Windows Server 2008 R2 installation. I tried it from the R2 (5.00.7958.1000) installation media, from the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup\" both without any luck, the
same error message persists. I verified I could ping the FQDN of the site server also, and that the firewall between the two permits communication over the ports listed here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427328.aspx
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -

Forte and Configuration Management tools
Hello everybody,
We are starting here a project with Forte. It will involve about 15
developers on two sites one in France and one in Germany.
Among other starting tasks, we have been considering using a Configuration
Manager tool connected to Forte. With the Configuration Manager we want to
do version control of the developed code.
Thus we have been experimenting various simple solutions to make backup /
recovery using the plans / workspaces / repositories of Forte using simple
techniques (FSCRIPT scripts + UNIX scripts). It has not been so obvious to
go around the checks that FORTE makes when it "compiles" a plan and when it
"integrates", assuming the public interfaces of some code have changed.
We came to the conclusion that restoring an old "version" of the code of an
application is almost every time a significative task which involves system
administration. One clean way to do it (at least the one we have identified)
requires the creation of a new repository, its loading with the version to
be restored, and from now on developers must use that repository. This
implies that an overall coherent set of code is restored, in fact the entire
application under development. No piecewise restore of let say just a
project, or a class. The backup is simply made by exporting a workspace that
includes the top most plan of our application, and thus automatically all
the supplier plans.
I have read in some articles that there are some experience somewhere of
using Forte with some CM tools of the market; furthermore is it true that
version 3 of Forte will come (link to ?) real and exhaustive functionalities
for CM ?
We have experience here on CCC which has been used on "classical"
development projects. We have some knowledge on ClearCase.
Among other things I expect from a CM tool :
* the ability to see the differences between the various versions of a piece
of code (here a module, there a "plan"), so "what has changed".
* management of checkout : who has checked out what and when.
In addition, cooperation between a CM tool and Forte needs that the CM takes
over some functions of Forte (eg, checkout, integrate, import). Is there a
way to hook "exits" into the Forte workshops ? These exists could then be
shell scripts linking with the CM tool.
I am very interested in discussing the matter more in detail.

If you are using Portal as an application platform, as opposed to KM, you are better of developing java portlets, so that you can use the SCM with JDeveloper and stay away from the application components. If you do want to use the components, then application export/import is the only way. You can setup your own procedures for handling the exported files (version etc).
You don't really version KM apps. Content is meant to be posted and otherwise administered by content area admins and users. It is not a "application", that must be change managed. There are versioning features available at the item level, which is adequate (but by no means a complete versioning system. Use iFS if you want that).
I have heard quite a few horror stories about exporting and importing content areas.
A 3-system Portal landscape, in my opinon, is overkill and trying to fit an existing approach to a new tool. A test/dev and a production Portal might be more palatable to the IT budget.

Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) and Software Configuration Manager (SCM)
Hi
Has anyone been able to install OCM(Oracle Configuration Manager, v 10.2.7) and
successful upload new Software Configurations to Metalink 3?
We have managed to download the OCM software (version 10.2.7), version 10.3.0 does not seam to be available
although it is the default suggestion from the download manger for the
"Oracle Configuration Manager Family" products.
We have also been able to install the OCM software in out Windows 2003/Siebel 8.0 development
environment. The connection to Metalink/Oracle configuration server even trough a proxy is
looking fine. We even get confirm/success message for the upload.
The only problem is, we don't event one day after doing the upload, see the new
configuration in Metalink 3.
Has anyone else been able to get this to work?
AxelWe got the configuration upload to work today and it did show up rather fast on Metalink 3. What we ended up having to do, was to install the software twice on the server once in the c:\sba80\gtwysrvr and once in the c:\sba80\siebsrvr directory.
If you are behind a proxy remember to use the -p parameter when calling setupCCR.
