Vmware 7 do not bridge interfaces on Archlinux

Hello, i'm trying to make a bridge in vmware 7.
There is my confiugration:
Bridge is in wlan0 (my connection).
When i try to do a dhcpcd eth0 (on a virtual machine in vmware) i receive a 169.x.x.x.x ip. And network is down. (http://i54.tinypic.com/29c01tx.png)
NAT work fine.
What is the problem?

The problem is that it's usually not possible to make a bridge with a wireless network interface in managed mode.

  • Pacserve multicast incompatible with bridged interfaces?

Is anyone able to get pacserve working in multicast mode on a bridged interface?
I have three physical interfaces: wan0, lan0, and wlan0. There is a bridge interface br0, which bridges lan0 and wlan0. If I specify '--multicast-address br0' or '--multicast-interface br0', it still seems to only use wan0, as evidenced by /proc/net/igmp:
Idx Device : Count Querier Group Users Timer Reporter

    Thanks!

well guys, after some paranoia, i was able to figure it out.
although anti-climactic, turns out that the host winxp has zone alarm blocking the vmware server.
anyway, solaris works like a charm. thanks to all those tutorials on dhcp setting. plus, the setup works. hhehehhe

  • [SOLVED] Question about Bridge Interface in VirtualBox

    Hi,
So I use bridge interface option in VirtualBox opposed to the default NAT one.
From what I see, the two interfaces(original one and bridged one) are isolated, such that the guest OS cannot intercept traffic of host OS and vice versa, is that correct?
Cause I cannot see the interface bridged by VirtualBox in host OS and cannot see the actual interface in guest OS.
    Thank you.
Last edited by darrenldl (2013-09-12 02:30:39)

I'm not sure what you mean by isolated, do you mean that the guest machine won't be able to communicate with the host system? I don't think that the case. I'm not an expert on this myself and it's a bit of a blind man describing an elephant, but from what I understand a bridged interface acts as an independent host on your network. As far as any other machine is concerned, the guest and host are 2 machines. Are you able to ping the host os' ip from the guest machine? If you are able to ping across, then they are sharing the same network segment. This means if you want the bridge to not be able to see what's going on on your network, you'll have to use some firewall or subnet tricks to get that to happen.

  • QoS into bridged interfaces

    Hi experts,
We are trying to perform an automation infrastructure for a product we are developing, we would need to use a cisco router to perform some network QoS in the same subnet. That is, bridge two interfaces of the router and perform QoS, packet block etc.
Bypass info between interfaces without having different networks have been achieved by bridging them. the problem we are finding now, is that policy map are not being applied to the interfaces. I am creating access lists and b/w constraint policies and applying them in an out of one of the bridged interfaces, they are not taking any effect.
Is this a supported scenario, if not, how could I achieve this without creating different networks in each interface of the router???
    Thanks in advance,
    Juan

I know for a fact that GTS and CBWFQ are not supported on Async interfaces.

  • EA6300 - Cascading the Linksys router to another router (LAN-LAN) - Does not Bridge built in Wifi AP

    Regarding:
    http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3733#
Cascading the Linksys router to another router (LAN-LAN)
The Bridge mode function on the EA6300 does not bridge the Wifi AP radio to the network.
The ethernet ports are bridged, and the router can see network devices and wifi devices connected to itand ping devices in both directions , but Wifi clients connecting to the unit running in bridge mode are not "bridged" to the network.
    ~
Using the built in webpage of the router, all devices can be pinged.
Ethernet RJ-45 devices plugged into it can ping the unit and pull up the units config webpage, but not ping wifi clients connected to it.
Wfii devices connected to its access point radio, can pull up the units config webpage, but not ping ethernet RJ-45 devices connected to it.
If there is a bridge, then the bridge is broken in half and not functional.
    ~
All devices are set with IPs on the same subnet,  192.168.2.x
    ~
I have a Netgear router in Bridge mode, and it works fine, connecting the wifi access point and RJ-45 ethernet clients together like it should be, so I know how Bridge mode... should work...
But it doesn't on this unit, it is not working completely out the factory door.   It will bridge one Router to another via the RJ-45 ethernet ports, but its own AP radio is no longer bridged and connected (like when running in NAT
Note that doing cascading  using NAT as described under "Cascading the Linksys router to another router (LAN-WAN)" works fine.

  • RIGHT SIDE OF BRIDGE INTERFACE "FADED OUT"

I just upgraded from CS5 to CS6, and I get a "strange" occurrence in which a portion of the right side of the Bridge interface, where 2/3s of  the area of the METADATA/KEYWORDS are no longer visible, & the Window or Page "under" it shows through.
EXAMPLE:  In Photoshop, the lower, right half of my interface has the History Palette.  When I "switch" to Bridge, though the Preview "Window" in the top right remains in tact, the Photoshop History Pallete is "covering" the right 2\3s of the METADATA panel.
It occurs with any "page" below the Bridge interface; for example with the Bridge Forum web page open, the portiion that depicts "Top Participants" etc. covers the Bridge METADATA panel.
I tried taking a screen shot but the problem "went away" in the screen shot interface.

Selecting "NEW SYNCHRONIZED WINDOW" has apparently fixed the problem, but can't help but wonder why it happens at all.

  • Why not use interfaces for constants?

    Hi,
I have been getting conflicting views about why not use interfaces for constants?
Can anyone shed some light on it?
    Piyush

    How so?
If the constants are only used in a single classhow
does it help to put them in a separate structute?
(Ignoring the a type safe enumeration of course.)Well, mainly for readability. Suppose that you have a
web application which has a servlet class
"RedirectServlet", which takes a variable to redirect
to a given JSP file. In the JSP files, you want to
create forms which take this servlet as their action.
You could of course put all these "redirect"
constants in the RedirectServlet itself, but then
it's kind of weird that you have to import a
servlet in your jsp file to include these constants
and to be able to write
    <form action="servlet/RedirectServlet?key=<%=
    RedirectServlet.HOMEPAGE %>> or so.
Instead, you could create an interface called
    "RedirectConstants", and then your servlet
RedirectServlet could implement this interface. Then
your JSP can also access these constants via this
    interface.
But then again, this is merely a matter of style, I
fully agree that there is never a real _need_ to put
constants in a separate structure if they're only used
in a single class. Are you claiming that your example above is a single class?

  • Why is the stub generated from the implementation and not the interface?

Why is the stub generated from the implementation and not the interface?

Because if a remote server object implements multiple remote interfaces, its stub must implement all the same remote interfaces. The only way to know which interfaces to implement is to examine the server object class.

Thanks for the link Jeff. Couldn't find any links on the Adobe site.
Even with that link though, I was still left puzzled as it didn't give multiple versions, just a 32 bit and 64 bit version.
I tried the 64 bit and it didn't work, so I assumed that was what had already been installed in the update.
Now installed the 32 bit version, and fingers crossed. At least it starts up now!

  • How to read data which is not on interface of user-exit

    Hi experts,
the data which I need is not on interface of user-exit. I can do export table to memory id and than in user-exit import that. Does this work always?
I have seen that sometimes is possible to see data with
(include-name)table-name. Can I always use this?
In detail: in transaction ME51N is new tabstrip created with customer fields.I have to know the purchase order for the selected item which is filled on another tabstrip.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Danijela

    Hi Danijela,
To answer your question about the "(module)object" approach:
Have you been in a user exit function and the data you need wasn't passed on to you? You can easily grab the data from the memory stack using this little trick. Let's say that you need some IDoc information that was created from the function IDOC_INPUT_DELVRY... You can get it directly from the call stack like this.
The code was written in R/3 4.6C but should work in any SAP version.
    DATA: i_EDIDC like EDIDC,
i_EDIDD like EDIDD occurs 0 with header line.
    CONSTANTS:
          c_EDIDD(21)  value '(SAPLV55K)IDOC_DATA[]',
          c_EDIDC(21)  value '(SAPLV55K)IDOC_CONTRL',
          c_E1ADRM1(7)      value 'E1ADRM1'
          c_SHPCON(6)  value 'SHPCON'.
    Field-symbols: <FC>, <FD> .
    clear: i_EDIDC, i_EDIDD.
    refresh: i_EDIDD.
    * Get the Control Record from memory
    assign (c_EDIDC) to <FC>.
    if SY-SUBRC = 0.
      i_EDIDC = <FC>.
      IF i_EDIDC-MESTYP = c_SHPCON.
    *   None of the partner information can be passed directly from
    *   the IDOC function, so we'll get it from memory.
    *   Get IDOC data records from memory
        assign (c_EDIDD) to <FD>.
        i_EDIDD[] = <FD>.
    *   Now you have the entire IDOC available to you without making
    *   a DB select.
read table i_EDIDD with key SEGNAM   = c_E1ADRM1.
    *   Load new value HERE...
      ENDIF.
    ENDIF.
I found this a long time ago on the web and used it successfully multiple times in the past.
    Hope this helps,
    Guenther

  • Aperture and Bridge interface

I cannot access photos in the Aperture library from Bridge. When I click on the Aperture cube icon (Aperture Library.aplibrary") from Bridge, Aperture opens and nothing more. Is this usual? Or do I need to do something to get Bridge to recognize all the files/albums, etc which were originally imported into Aperture? I can access all the Aperture files from Photoshop but sometimes I just want to view them in Bridge first.

    zelsha
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
No, there is no way to access the files from Bridge. Bridge and Aperture don't play well together (nor does it play well with iPhoto) because Bridge attempts to do part of Apertures job.
I can access all the Aperture files from Photoshop but sometimes I just want to view them in Bridge first.
Well that's exactly where you would use Aperture and not Bridge.
