VMWare - Hyper-V Conversion Failed: Does Not Have Write Permissions

Hey Guys -
Today I've been trying to convert a VM from VMWare Workstation to Hyper-V.  I have it in VMWare Workstation and not ESX because I'm working from home currently.  My Hyper-V server is also local and hosted on a new Windows Server 2012 R2 build.
When I try to convert it at the end of the process, I get the below error:
Blocking Issue(s):
1: UNC Path "\\192.168.0.10\VDisks\Nagios Log Server" is not valid or does not have write permissions
Warnings(s):
1: The number of USB devices configured on the VMWare guest machine is 1.  The USB device (window cuts off here)
2: The video memory configured on the VMware guest machine is greater than 4 MB.  The vid (window cuts off here)
Below is a screenshot:
Environment
- Hyper-V server is on a separate system running Windows Server 2012 R2
- VMWare Workstation is on the PC I'm running the converter on.  The source VM is shared and I have Workstation configured to share on port 444 (443 is taken)
- Hyper-V Server is on domain - VMWare Workstation Computer is NOT joined to that domain - however - when choosing VM I connected with the domain credentials and browsed to select target folder - not just typed it in.
- I'm using Domain Admin credentials and the VDisks share is set to have full access to the account
- I can connect to target share via Explorer and write files / create folders successfully
- VMWare Workstation version 11 running on Windows 8.1 Update 1 x64
Any ideas or suggestions?  Thanks!
Ben K.

Hi,
in my case it worked when the Server(-VM) on which we installed the MVMC AND the target-file server were joined to the domain.
We also created a domain account, which has write-permissions to the target fileshare. We used this domain account for logon on the MVMC-machine and for running the MVMC Wizard.
Hope that helps

Robert

  • UNC Path is not valid or does not have write permissions

    Hi,
I've just downloaded the MVMC 3.0 SA as well as the admin guide. My environment is the following setup:
    - Windows Server 2012 R2 as Hyper-V (SRV-1-011-HypV1, not domainjoined!)
    - Windows Server 2012 R2 as VM SRV-1-011-HypV1 (SRV-1-030-DC01, Domaincontroller)
    - Windows Server 2012 R2 as VM for Conversion with MVMC 3.0 hosted on SRV-1-011-HypV1 (SRV-1-032-File1, not domainjoined!)
    - VMWare ESXi 4.1, where the source VM resides (stone001)
I've completed the wizard for converting a VM to Hyper-V and I'm Stuck at the Summary Check:
    "Blocking Issue(s):
1: UNC Path '\\srv-1-011-hypv1\Converted' is not valid or does not have write permissions."
From the admin guide this is described as Issue number 2:
The machine, on which you   are running the conversion, and the destination Hyper-V host are not members   of the same Active Directory
    domain.
Ensure that the machine on   which you are running the conversion and the destination Hyper-V host are   members of the same Active Directory
    domain.
SRV-1-011-HypV1 and SRV-1-032-File1 are both Member of the "Workgroup" and are not domain joined. Right now, it is impossible to join the
Hyper-V host to its VM-hosted Domain due to the required system restart at the domain join, while domain is going to be shut down. How can this issue be resolved?
Further: Is there any conflict known operating MVMC from the destination Hyper-V host itself? Will the issue occur in this scenario too, as long as
the hyper-V has not joined the domain?
    Kind regards
    S.Kuemmel

  • Cannot delegate Reporting Services Web access to domain user / group, User does not have required permissions

    Hi
    I have an SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 installation on a Server 2008 R2 + SQL 2008 R2.
I'm having trouble delegating Reporting Services Web Access to a standard domain user.
I have followed the instructions from these blogs:
    http://blog.coretech.dk/kea/creating-the-reporting-user-role-in-configmgr-2012/
    http://www.wolffhaven45.com/blog/sccm/assigning-users-to-configmgr-reportusers-group-in-sccm-2012/
No matter how I try, I cannot get the reports to show for a standard domain user. In the console no reports are showing and in the web access I get
"User domain\user does not have required permissions........"
The only thing that is consistenly working when I test is to put the AD Group on the Security Role "Full Administrator".
    Then everything will show up.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks everyone for helping me with tips. I have now solved the problem. It was the permissions from SCCM that did not replicate to the Reporting Server.
In srsrp.log I got these error messages:
Could not retrieve the reporting service name for instance 'MSSQLSERVER'
    Invalid class
Could not stop the reporting serviceAfter googling a litte I found these 2 sites with similiar problems:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d4a7f93a-506f-4e3f-b5fc-bd2b087277da/ssrs-permissions-do-not-add?forum=configmanagergeneral
    http://www.microtom.net/microsoft-system-center/software-distribution/sccm-2012-reporting-services-do-not-install
    So I ran the command for SQL 2008 R2: mofcomp.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof
and BAAM, everything started to work =)

    Hi Joseph_SQL,
The following operating systems limit the overuse of elevated permissions by removing administrator permissions when accessing applications: Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows Server
    2008 and Windows Vista.
Because the noted operating systems limit permissions, members of the local Administrators group run most applications as if they are using the Standard User account. To avoid open Report Manager in Internet Explorer always using Run as administrator option,
we can refer to the following configuration steps:
Add Reporting Services URLs to trusted sites.
    Report Manager Folder Settings
    Report Manager Site Settings
For more details about how to configure the settings, please refer to the following article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630430(v=sql.110).aspx. After finishing the configuration, we can re-open Report Manager in Internet Explorer without using
    Run as administrator.
    Hope this helps.

Which User or Group is the owner of the ORACLE_BASE?
Note: Assuming your ORACLE_BASE is /u01/app/oracle. Your Installation will create the following homes:
    Oracle Home: /u01/app/oracle/product/db10g
    OMS Home: /u01/app/oracle/product/oms10g
    Agent Home: /u01/app/oracle/product/agent10g

I created a custom security extension following the steps listed in the Readme_Security Extension Sample. It works fine if I login as the user that is specified AdminConfiguration section of the rsreportserver.config file but if I
log in as another user, I get this error: User '' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.  I've added the user to both System Administrator

Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    Hi MetronM,
The issue is due to that user have no permission to access the report server. In report manager, Reporting Services includes predefined roles that we can assign to users and groups to provide immediate access to a report server. Each role defines a collection
    of related tasks.
You can refer to the following steps to assign corresponding role to the user.
    Open report manager.
    Click “Folder Setting” button.
    Click “New Role Assignment” icon.
Type the user name and select the corresponding role.
There is an article about Granting Permissions on a Native Mode Report Server, you can refer to it.

I am trying to open iTunes on my mac. But a box pops up saying "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder". Anyone know what that means? I've had my computer 2 years and its never had a problem opening it

I've already right-clicked on the application, clicked "get info", and changed it so all people listed in the "Sharing & Permissions" section have the "read & write" privilage.
The error message is referring to your iTunes library, not your iTunes application.
You need to check and fix the permissions of the iTunes folder in your iTunes library. This is by default located in your "Music" folder.
Select the folder Music > iTunes  in the Finder, right click on it or Ctrl Click and click "Get Info". At the bottom of the contextual window thatwill  pop up, disclose the Sharing and Permissions brick, change your status from Read only to Read & Write. You may need to click the padlock icon to make changes.
